Mysql tomcat config help

im trying to configure mysql5 with tomcat through jdbc.
in tomcat i get the following error: Cannot find suitable driver
i have added the .jar driver file into tomcat\common\lib.
I have written the Defaultcontext configuration as shown below

  • Getting JNDI not found on MySql/Tomcat

    Has anyone gotten ADF to work with MySql/Tomcat? I think I finially have the app working in Tomcat but now I'm getting an error with my pool/JNDI lookup. At the tomcat console I get this;
    SEVERE: Null component Catalina:type=DataSource,path=/ediweb,host=localhost,class=javax.sql.DataSource,name="jdbc/ediconnDS"
    It looks like it can't even create a connection to MySql. My app has a context.xml in the META-INF like this;
    <Context>
    <WatchedResource>WEB-INF/web.xml</WatchedResource>
    <ResourceLink global="jdbc/ediconnDS" name="jdbc/ediconnDS" type="javax.sql.DataSource" />
    </Context>
    And in my server.xml I have this;
    <Resource name="jdbc/ediconnDB" auth="Container" type="javax.sql.DataSource" maxActive="100" maxIdle="30" maxWait="10000" username="root" password="password" driverClassName="com.mysql.jdbc.Driver" url="jdbc:mysql://localhost:3306/freightedi"/>
    In my web.xml I have this resource-ref;
    <resource-ref>
    <description>DB Connection</description>
    <res-ref-name>jdbc/ediconnDS</res-ref-name>
    <res-type>javax.sql.DataSource</res-type>
    <res-auth>Container</res-auth>
    </resource-ref>
    I've tried putting the resource in the context.xml... all kinds of stuff, to no avail.
    I tested these connection parameters in Squirrel SQL (java jdbc based SQL tool) and it works?!
    Please help :(

    I have downloaded MAMP for Mac and want to use it for working with Wordpress. I'm on an Imac with Maverick OS 10.9. I had mysql installed before this and would like to uninstall it and use MAMP. It was easy to turn off Apache and PHP but don't know how to uninstall mysql. Please help!!

    It depends on how you installed it. You have to shutdown the MySQL service first. If you used the standard, but obsolete Startup Item, you can do that with the Startup Item. If you created a launchd script, you can do it with launchctl. Once MySQL is no longer running, you can delete the Startup Item or launchd script and the rest of MySQL.

    * Download and install JSSE 1.0.2 or later, and put the JAR files

    * Execute:

    $JAVA_HOME/bin/keytool -genkey -alias tomcat -keyalg RSA (Unix)
    with a password value of "changeit" for both the certificate and
    the keystore itself.
    By default, DNS lookups are enabled when a web application calls
    request.getRemoteHost(). This can have an adverse impact on
    performance, so you can disable it by setting the
    "enableLookups" attribute to "false". When DNS lookups are disabled,
    request.getRemoteHost() will return the String version of the
    IP address of the remote client.

    saveOnRestart: If true, all active sessions will be saved
    to the Store when Catalina is shutdown, regardless of
    other settings. All Sessions found in the Store will be
    loaded on startup. Sessions past their expiration are
    ignored in both cases.
    maxActiveSessions: If 0 or greater, having too many active
    sessions will result in some being swapped out. minIdleSwap
    limits this. -1 means unlimited sessions are allowed.
    0 means sessions will almost always be swapped out after
    use - this will be noticeably slow for your users.
    minIdleSwap: Sessions must be idle for at least this long
    (in seconds) before they will be swapped out due to
    maxActiveSessions. This avoids thrashing when the site is
    highly active. -1 or 0 means there is no minimum - sessions
    can be swapped out at any time.
    maxIdleSwap: Sessions will be swapped out if idle for this
    long (in seconds). If minIdleSwap is higher, then it will
    override this. This isn't exact: it is checked periodically.
    -1 means sessions won't be swapped out for this reason,
    although they may be swapped out for maxActiveSessions.
    If set to >= 0, guarantees that all sessions found in the
    Store will be loaded on startup.
    maxIdleBackup: Sessions will be backed up (saved to the Store,
    but left in active memory) if idle for this long (in seconds),
    and all sessions found in the Store will be loaded on startup.
    If set to -1 sessions will not be backed up, 0 means they
    should be backed up shortly after being used.
    To clear sessions from the Store, set maxActiveSessions, maxIdleSwap,

  • FILENOTFOUNDEXCEPTION while reading property files in Tomcat 6------Help me

    Hi All
    I am planning to migrate my web application from iplanet 4.1 to tomcat 6. In this process I need to read the properties files initially.
    for eg: i got the property files in a iPlanet:
    Config directory---
    abc.properties.---
    abc.log--
    In tomcat I configured them in web.xml saying that.
    <servlet>
    <servlet-name>ABC</servlet-name>
    <servlet-class>com.ijk.abc</servlet-class>
    <init-param>
    <param-name>Loan</param-name>
    <param-value>/WEB-INF/config</param-value>
    </init-param>
    <init-param>
    <param-name>loan.props</param-name>
    <param-value>/WEB-INF/config/abc.props</param-value>
    </init-param>
    <init-param>
    <param-name>loan.log</param-name>
    <param-value>/WEB-INF/config/abc.log</param-value>
    </init-param>
    <load-on-startup>1</load-on-startup>
    </servlet>
    <servlet-mapping>
    <servlet-name>ABC</servlet-name>
    <url-pattern>/</url-pattern>
    </servlet-mapping>
    I need to read initially all the property files and then proceed.
    While configuring in this way, it am getting error saying that
    abc.props or abc.log..............(FILE NOT FOUND EXCEPTION)
    Can anyone suggest me how to configure them.
    Thanks in Advance.

    Thanks for your response, Actually we dont have the source code for that because it is very old code, but i m using decompiler in which i can get some informtaion.
    OS used for iPlanet is Unix but now I need to deploy this application in tomcat in windows server 2003.

    Right now, i placing it in the WEBAPPS/MYWEBAPPLICATION/WEB-INF/LOAN/abc.props,abc.logs.
    Its giving me errors such as FILENOTFOUNDEXCEPTION or cannot read the property files.
    The main problem is ...I donot have the complete source code. while decompiling i m not able view complete source code.
    Please help me regarding this.........

  • Tomcat config problem: jsp can't find a bean class

    I've been working within a JSP/Javabeans/JDBC/MySQL architecture with Windows XP and Websphere. So far everything works perfectly. Now I need to get the same project and make it run with a Tomcat server.
    I've already set the Tomcat server but its not working properly. I have a problem when a jsp tries to access any class inside my project's package.
    For example, when I make the next call:
    <jsp:useBean id="ctrl" class="myPack.myBean" scope="page"/>
    I get an error saying:
    Error: 500
    Location: /myproj/login.jsp
    Internal Servlet Error:
    org.apache.jasper.JasperException: Unable to compile C:\Program Files\jakarta-tomcat-3.3.1\work\DEFAULT\myproj\login_1.java:64: Class myPack.myBean not found.
    myPack.myBean ctrl = null;
    ^
    I believe that my problem cames when setting the Tomcat environment. So far what I have done is:
    * install j2sdk-1.3.1.03
    * install jakarta-tomcat-3.3.1
    * install mysql-max-3.23.51-win
    * set the environment variable JAVA_HOME
    * set the environment variable TOMCAT_HOME
    * set the environment variable MYSQL_HOME
    * add the %JAVA_HOME%\bin to the PATH
    * create 'myproj' directory inside TOMCAT_HOME\webapps
    * create into 'myproj' the subdirectory WEB-INF\classes and copy into it the jar file with my java classes (myPack.jar).
    * copy into TOMCAT_HOME\lib\apps the JDBC driver for MySQL.
    * copy my project files (jsp, html, images, etc.) and its structure into 'myproj' directory.
    I haven't include anything into the CLASSPATH because so far I've read that Tomcat will automatically include all the classes that are inside the directories TOMCAT_HOME\myproj\WEB-INF\classes and TOMCAT_HOME\lib\apps.
    I really don't have a clue about what I'm doing wrong. I'd apreciate if anyone can help me out with this one ;) ... I thank you in advance!

    Hi, it's me again!.
    Since nobody replied to me I'm replying myself :D
    Ok, seriously is just to let you know that I have solved my problem and I would like to tell you how I solved it ... somebody might be doing the same mistake than I was doing and could found this helpful. I just forgot to mention that I was using Tomcat 3.3.
    Well, first of all let me tell you that there was nothing wrong with the previous configuration that I post in my first message. Everything is ok except that in the TOMCAT_HOME\webapps\myproj\WEB-INF\classes directory I was putting my classes as a jar file, so I deleted it and instead I put the directory myPack with its unpacked class files. THIS SOLVED MY PROBLEM!!!
    First I was trying to do some complicated things editing bat and xml files, but as a matter of fact I found it's quite simple. Furthermore, I was really surprised by the performance of Tomcat. I'm relly happy for that !! ;)
    Hope it works for you,
    Ernesto

        public String getLastName() { return lastName; }
        public void setLastName(String lastName) { this.lastName = lastName;  }Please, help me.

    I had the same "is not a known entity type" error when running under a development environment Eclipse/Tomcat using Toplink. But the almost same code and configuration worked when running under Eclipse as a stand-alone Java app.
    Eventually I figured out (actually trial and error), that I had checked the toplink-essentials.jar libraries to be exported under: Eclipse Project/Java Build Path/Order and Export. I was messing around with libraries. Unchecking the export option there fixed the problem.
    While its unlikely that this could have been your exact problem, I would check the library order and export configurations. Looking at other message boards about this problem, many seemed to have been caused or fixed by playing with their libraries.

  • Ergent problem with the jsp file access in tomcat. HELP...

    I use tomcat as my server, I have one JSP file located in :
    webapps\abc\war\WEB-INF\jsp\index.jsp
    You see my project name is abc, I want to access the index.jsp file, I define another jsp file in the path: webapps\abc callled outside.jsp. I want to use outside.jsp to invoke the index.jsp.
    Inside outside.jsp it is :
    <html>
    <head>
    <title>index</title>
    </head>
    <body>
    <%@ include file="war/WEB-INF/jsp/index.jsp" %/>
    </body>
    </html>
    When I open the browser, and access, http://localhost:8080/abc/outside.jsp , the content of index.jsp was shown as expect. But, all the link pages of the index.jsp can not shown (PS: the link pages is located in the same path as index.jsp, they are all jsp files). I guess the problem may be that the <%@ include file="war/WEB-INF/jsp/index.jsp" %/> inside outside.jsp include the index.jsp as a static file. Is there any method to make all the link pages of index.jsp can be shown when call from outside.jsp???HELP

    I don't know why your links can't be shown, but I can tell you that your suspect:
    I guess the problem may be that the <%@ include file="war/WEB-INF/jsp/index.jsp" %/> inside outside.jsp include the index.jsp as a static file.is wrong, because included jsp is dynamic, not static.

  • I need to learn how to use all about java & mysql...help me!

    I have a situation here, I need to learn how to use java with mysql
    . Can I connect to a MYSQL DB with servlets?
    how can I build an e-mail server with java (no matter how difficult)
    please, I need help, and I really apreciate your help.
    thank you very much!!

    I have a situation here, I need to learn how to use
    java with mysql
    . Can I connect to a MYSQL DB with servlets?Yes... documentation to help you connect to any database can be found at http://java.sun.com/products/jdbc. To connect to MySQL, you'll need drivers (sourceforge.net), and the specific connection URL for those drivers will be included in the documentation.
    how can I build an e-mail server with java (no matter
    how difficult)If you're fairly new to JSP/Servlets, you may be in over your head here, since an email server is no easy application to code. Here's a link to the source code for the JAMES project... Apache's Java email server... maybe you can find some useful information there...

  • Character Setting Problem ( mysql + tomcat )

    Hi all;
    I am using mysql dbms and tomcat web server(servlet). But in my web page, the characters are shown broken. I set the character set of the mysql database. They are shown well in the dbms console. And also I set the html code with appropriate character set in the meta tags. Do I need to make any extra setting? Perhaps in the tomcat or anywhere else? What is the problem here?

    assumes:
    1. using jsp to display the db data
    2. db encoding is ISO-8859-1
    3. jsp encoding is utf-8
    for the very first line of the jsp file:
    <%@ page pageEncoding="utf-8" %>before displaying the data:
    String str = <data from db>
    str = new String(str.getBytes("ISO-8859-1"), "UTF-8");

My Network adminsistrator has given me a certificate from the server called SSLMASTER.DER, which I tried install in file called CACERTS in java_home\jre\lib\security using keytool. An it seems like its there using keytool -list command.
    and edited the server.xml:
    <Connector className="org.apache.tomcat.service.PoolTcpConnector">
    <Parameter name="handler" value="org.apache.tomcat.service.http.HttpConnectionHandler"/>
    <Parameter name="port" value="8443"/>

    <Parameter name="keypass" value="changeit"/>
    <Parameter name="clientAuth" value="true"/>
    </Connector>
    Now I start re-start tomcat, and type in the following URL
    http://localhost:8080/college_register/uk/ac/havering-college/index122.html, then i enter the username and password, when submitted it goes to the above java code or even if i do https://localhost:8443/college_register/uk/ac/havering-college/index122.html. I still get the error below.

  • Airport General Config Help Required

    I've got a wireless Thomson broadband router hooked up downstairs running DHCP server, and upstairs I've got an airport extreme configured in bridge mode. I've got a MAC Mini directly ethernet cabled to the AE.
    I can connect to the internet from the Mac, but cannot see a couple of ethernet devices connected to the remaining two AE ethernet ports (Windows Home Server and Buffalo Linkstation).
    I can change the config so that the AE acts as the DHCP server, am then able to use WHS and the Linkstation, but not internet.
    Can anyone give me any pointers as to how to configure it up (if at all possible). Does the AE need to be hard wired to the router?
    Thanks
