Mysterious icon with keyboard lock

Hi, I have had this Blackberry 8703e for about a year.  Recently a new icon started appearing when I lock the keyboard.
At the very top center, the symbol of a little white square with red bar on top and dark mark in its middle appears when it is locked,
which I think it did before but now I'm no longer sure.  What is definitely new is that now a number is with that icon.
At first it was a 1, then a day or so later it was a 2, now it is a 3 since about a week ago.
So what I am seeing on the top center, right between the time and the signal strength, when the keyboard is locked is
the number 3 on the left of the little white square with the red bar on top.
It all goes away the second I unlock the device, and appears immediately when I click lock again.
What is it trying to tell me?  How do I clear it?

  • An icon with a lock & enclosed a clockwise circle with arrow

The captioned icon is located next to battery icon on the top right bar. Can someone advise me what it is and usage. Thanks!

That, my friend, is the orientation lock. To turn it on or off, go to the multitasking bar, slide all the way to the left and you will see it there, touch to turn on or off. That keeps the iPhone oriented in portrait.

  • HT4993 there is an icon in my menu bar with a lock with a continuous circle around it - what does this mean

there is an icon with a lock with a continuous circle around it - what does this mean

It means you have enabled rotation lock, so the screen will not change from portrait to landscape when you rotate the phone.
Double-press the HOME button, then slide the QuickLaunch ribbon from left to right to reveal the lock control icon.

  • Missing keyboard lock icon 8530

Just upgraded to new OS,missing keyboard lock icon. How do you lock keyboard?

    Hello,
You have upgraded to the point where the function changed. To lock the keyboard, you now press (and quickly release) one of the hard keys on top (usually the power key). But, this is only a keyboard lock...not a full device lock. The only way a screen icon exists anymore is if you create a device lock password...then you would have an icon to activate that.
    Good luck!

Lock icon with circle ios7 need to unlock

Slide up the new Control Panel window from bottom of screen. There you should find a similar icon in the upper right, lightly shaded white. Tap on it and it will turn grey, removing the little icon on your screen and unlocking the screen.
Hope this helps - worked for me, though how it got turned on in the first place a mystery...

  • HT1338 My MacBook Pro (running Leopard 10.5.8) won't allow keyboard to type an upper case 'C' using the shift key...works fine with caps lock, or, with my Typinator workaround using double-typed lower case c (not always best). Any ideas?

My MacBook Pro keyboard won't type an upper case 'C' using the shift key... only with caps lock. Workaround has been to use Typinator by typing a double lower case c, not always the best solution. Mac is a refurbished model, which initially was fine. Apple tech helped me correct the quirk when it first appeared, but now it has returned and refuses fixes. Any ideas?

I'm willing to bet that this has something to do with iCloud.  I've been facing a frozen computer nearly every time I go into it.
In Activity Monitor I have seen two programs associate with iCloud that take up about 2.5 GB of memory (I only have 4 in the computer) -- causing everything to freeze.  One of these is called "iCloud Helper" and the other one is something like "Address Book Sync helper" -- I see parts of these names in the stuff you have posted.
I am at my wits' end with these and have written to Apple asking them to do away with these or fix them.  To get rid of the Address book sync thing I have gone into system preferences for iCloud and unchecked Contacts -- but then spontaneously it gets rechecked.  And oftentimes after I Force Quit the iCloud helper, it spontaneously turns on again.  My conclusion --- the iCloud is basically unusable.  It turns a Mac into the most useless, clogged, sluggish PC.  If this is happening to a lot of people's computers -- and I see no reason why yours or mine should be an exception -- these programs just might destroy Apple itself.
So -- I'm about to completely give up on iCloud, and I suspect that others will too unless this gets fixed.
    Cheers,
    Bob

  • My iphone doesnt want to start.all it shows is the apple icon.nothing more.i have tried holding the home button together with the lock button.what can i do .thanks

my iphone 4 doesnt want to start . all it shows is the apple icon.i have tried holding the home button together with the lock button. nothing seems to work . please help.

Plug the iPhone in with the Wall Charger. Then while plugged in do the Reset again, hold both Home and Power buttons until the iPhone Restarts. This usually begins to happen in less than 20 seconds time.
If you this does not work you can try to Restore the Firmware on your iPhone. If you decide to do this, connect your iPhone to your computer with iTunes open. Hold both the Home and Power buttons until the iPhone is detected by iTunes in Recovery Mode, this takes about 20 seconds time. Restore your iPhone.
If this does not work, you can try to Restore the Firmware on your iPhone in DFU Mode. Connect your iPhone to your computer with iTunes open. Hold both Home and Power buttons for exactly 10 seconds, release the Power Button and keep holding the Home Button until iTunes recognizes the iPhone in Recovery Mode, about 20 seconds more time. Restore the iPhone.
If this does not work and you have Warranty or AppleCare Coverage take your iPhone to Apple for resolution of the problem.

My iMac is stuck with a grey screen with a icon of a lock.

You enter Target Disk mode by launching the iMac with the "T" key held down or by the method you used.  It's used so another Mac connected to it can access the files as if it were another external HD.  This document describes the process: Target Disk Mode,  Transferring files between two computers using FireWire
