Mysterious log disappearance....

Hi -
My issue is on a production oracle 10.2.04 CPU19 DB.
It is running in archive log mode, with 2 physical syandby's (dataguard).
I have run into a strange issue, where a online redo log (sequence 74852) is simply no longer on record in the DB in v$archived_log.
Normally, if the log is deleted from the OS (in this case, windows 2003 R2 x64), I still see it in there, but just marked deleted.
This one simply has no record in v$archived_log for sequence 74852 at all.
It is not on the disk either.
All logs before & after this one, in sequence, are there in v$archived_log and the OS disk.
The alert log does not seems to show anything out of the ordinary, it shows that the missing sequece was archived ok.
I discovered this oddity when both my physical standby's were both backed up waiting for this log sequence (74852).
Normally I just copy it over from the primary manually, & this is when I discovered it was not on the disk on the primary, and not in v$archived_log.
I can't restore the log from backup either because it was from after my nightly backup.
Has anyone seen this before ? (I'm guessing a bug) ?

Hi -
The missing log occured about 3:13 am this morning, so it will not show up in the primary log queries.
I CAN see the redo log in v$log_history, but not where it was ever archived in v$archived_log.
Also, my log_archive_min_succeed_dest=1 and log_archive_local_first=true
(I only have 1 local archive dest, and 2 remotes - 1 for each standby).
So, no matter what, oracle should have archived sequence# 74582, or halted the instance until it was done.

Call log disappears Q5

Hello,
I´m having trouble with my call logs disappearing on my Q5.
They are completely gone, also from the hub. No textmsg disappears, only call logs.
It seems as if the log stays on the phone for two-three days, and then it´s gone. I have also experienced that it can take longer, up to a week.
Have checked all previous tips about this. Shut down and started again, checked that nothing is set to auto-delete, checked that deleting browser history doesn´t delete call log (it doesn´t) and so on.
Anyone having any ideas to what this is? It is extremely annoying to loose call logs, especially when you need numbers that are not saved in your contacts.

Call Log Disappearing

Recently, my Pearl 8130 has been automatically clearing out my call log for me. This is not doing me a favor. I can't seem to fing any preference settings specifically for the call log that might address this. What am I missing? Anyone run into this before?

You're facing memory constraints in your device. Perform the following steps -
Give a soft reset by removing the battery for 30sec.
Check how much memory is free in your device to Options -> Status -> Free Memory. To view all the database size go to Option -> Status -> click Menu button then select Database Sizes
Delete less frequently used application. To delete go to Options -> Advanced Options -> Applications -> highlight the application you want to delete -> click Menu and select Delete
If you stored your picture in device memory them move them to your media card

CVP applications logs disappearing

Hello,
I have several CVP applications deployed long time ago and running. Two of them are displaying logs (Activity Logs) for a short period of time and the the log file disappears.
I tried to:
re-deploy the application from OAMP
update the applcation locally from the VXML Server
re-deploy using a new name for the application
None of the above solved the issue. All other applications logs still exist.
Any suggestions?

Are you able to get calls to those applications succesfully? I think I've seen something similar in the past the only thing that solved it for me was a restart of the CVP server. Never opened a TAC case on it and it never happened again.

Call logs disappearing

My call log is set to record "all calls" . For some reason the log is occasionally wiped clean. Info on the phone says these calls are supposed to stay recorded for 30 days. Any ideas as to what is happening?

You have low free memory left on your device. .
Do you have a lot of third party applications on your BB weather, icall,bbalerts etc?
I do not know your experience level, so if you know this I'm sorry but please read and let me
know if this applies.
Most people close the applications by pressing the escape or red key. This does not close the applications.
Each application has a CLOSE option. For instance if you are in the calendar hit the menu key (spotted key) and scroll down to the bottom CLOSE is listed. Go through each application and press close. Go into the browser press menu and options select cache operations clear all categories and hit escape it will say cleaning memory. See if you have the following option:
Go to options - security - memory cleaning - enable it. The BB will now clean memory when idle for 5 minutes.
you will have an icon on you screen for memory cleaning make sure you press it. Make sure you use the CLOSE button each time you are done with an application.

To check where your media files are on the device, go to media menu key explore you should see media card and device memory.
Click on meda card and keep drilling down to see your media files. Then select device memory and do the same. If you find media in
device memory, move them to the media card.

Error Logs Disappeared...

Yesterday I went to the logs folder under library and there were 2 files one that concerned a improper shutdown and another one that detailed the system operations when it was turned on and shutdown. However today there was an abnormality in that folder. Instead of finding those two logs for some reason there were 4 new logs from yesterday and the original 2 logs found in the folder were for some reason deleted. The 4 new logs pertained to disk utilities (I used it yesterday, but the logs was not there after I used it), one to the Burn OS app (also used yesterday) but what's odd about it is that burn did not gave me an error. Anyways, it is normal for OSX to delete logs automatically and create new ones or I'm facing the prospect of reinstalling OSX.

Are you talking about +crash logs+ or +system logs?+
As Etresoft says, your system log is archived, "rotated," and deleted after a few days by OSX automatically. The current version is named, appropriately enough, system.log and the earlier, "archived" ones are *system.log.0.bz2, system.log.1.bz2,* etc., and are all in the /private/var/log folder.
Crash logs (and I think hang logs) are in /Library/Logs and/or +<home folder>/Library/Logs+ and I don't think are deleted by any system process.

Call Log disappeared after update

I ran the update to Android 4..0..4 on my Bionic and now I can no longer find the Call Log function. The only time it seems to be available is after I have actually missed a call, then it is viewable only for missed calls, and only temporarily. In the old version, I could reach the entire call log or sort for missed, outgoing or incoming and dial from there. Is this simply gone?

I found the "phone" icon, which when tapped will give you a "recent call" list - which is what I was looking for. So thanks. But it used to be a lot easier, there was a place to tap within the "Contacts/People" icon/app so you could either make a call from this list or go thru the contacts alphabetically. Now there seem to be two separate places to accomplish different communications functions, where before there was one. It seems clunky and awkward, unlike most of the other changes. But I guess I'll get used to it! Thanks so much for showing me where it was hiding!

There's this mysterious appearing/disappearing icon in my Dock...

...that every so often spontaneously opens up, then closes right away. I can never get a good look at it, but it appears to be a white "page" (like the TextEdit dock icon) with what looks like a green part in the upper left corner and a black part in the lower right area.
What application might that icon belong to? And should I worry about it?

To clarify, it doesn't happen after each loading of a webpage -- I'm not even sure if it is triggered by opening a web page at all. Sometimes I'll just be watching the screen and it will happen.
Again, the trouble is that the icon just appears and disappears in the Dock before I can get a good look.
I'll try to take a full-screen snapshot (Command-Shift-3) the next time it appears, and hopefully I'll catch it in time...

Mysteriously Logging Off / Rebooting

I used to have my computer (Macbook Air) shutdown at the end of the day and Power on automatically in the morning. I've been trying to work on long tasks organizing my Aperture Libraries, and I'm finding hints that the computer is not how I left it.
When I noticed that I needed the computer to stay powered on, I disabled those settings under the Energy Preference Pane. But when I come back to the computer, I sometimes find that it is logged off, sitting at the login screen. When I log back in, most windows will reopen, but of course the tasks that I started were interrupted, not completed, and can't resume after simply re-logging on.
I can't find the setting in 10.9 to tell the computer not to automatically restart on a kernal panic. I was hoping I could catch it in the act if this is what it was doing. I also can't find a log stating that the computer logged of, or restarted for whatever reason. (Where do I look?)
One night recently, my computer was at a screen stating that Aperture canceled the log off. So I'm baffled as I don't see the computer configured to automatically logoff or shutdown. I also have not witnessed it log off or shutdown even when I working with it during late hours.
I come with this question because of the Proof that the computer was not as I left it, and It's currently not configured to log off or shutdown at a scheduled time.
Has anybody else experienced their computer automatically logging of or rebooting without purposely scheduling it to?

and uncheck the box marked
Log out after … minutes of inactivity
If there's a closed padlock icon in the lower left corner of the preference pane, you may need to click it to unlock the settings. Enter your login password when prompted.

Mysterious memory disappearance

I have far less available space on my HDD than I think I should. I can only account for about half of the used space. Are there hidden files or applications on my machine? I know over the years `i've loaded and deleted some large programs andfolders, but i've gone thru all the folders,using "get info" and the sizes dont add up to what my machine tells me is used. any help?

There are some hidden files you won't be able to get to without knowing they exist.
Instead of doing things the manual way, get OmniDiskSweeper here: http://www.omnigroup.com/applications/omnidisksweeper/
It will do an inventory of all your files and folders and show you where your space has gone.
Note: Do NOT delete files/folders you do not recognize. The only exception to this is that any files in /private/var/log can be deleted if they are large.

Please Help! Console Log Attached:

I've been having this problem since I purchased my machine in Oct 07. I've reinstalled my OS (10.4.11), and downloaded all of Apple's Updates. Once all of my software was updated, I proceeded to install Final Cut Studio 2. Let me begin by saying that, historically, my problem is related to any given application suddenly quitting. Additionally, I've purchased a new Hard Drive, and installed another copy of my OS without Final Cut Studio - which does not report any problems or errors according to the Console Log. However... The current startup disk I'm working with did, in fact, report Syndication Error 306 "BestCalendarDateInString"... Whatever that means... But... I deleted my "Database 3" File from user/library/syndication, and reinstalled Safari 3.1.2. I did this because my research in to the topic described the syndication error as being a potential problem in Safari collecting & updating RSS Feeds. After my Safari re-install, and several restarts, and disk permission repairs, all error messages from the Console Log disappeared. Which brings me to the present time... Which now, after installing Final Cut Studio 2, updating all software, and repairing disk permissions - I'm still getting (different now) error messages at startup - as reported by my Console Log:

I did have a Shared folder but may have added it manually or something, so I moved it to the desktop and pasted the codes into terminal (I then typed exit to get out of there)

All contacts, notes, calendars disappeared from my phone. Trying to restore from earlier backup but no old backups show up under manage storage.

Out of the blue, about 2 weeks ago all of my contacts, calendars and notes disappeared. Messages are only displayed by the phone # they came from, not with contact's name. When sending email I can type part of the email address in and the email from my contacts auto fills so I know the info is there somewhere. I've followed the links for "restore from prior backup" and I get to the manage storage and my device. I click the device and the only backup that shows is one from today, not the auto backups from before the mysterious data disappearance. HELP!!!!!

What happens if you go online to iCloud.com? Do you see your contacts or calendar there? If so, try going into Settings on the phone and turning off iCloud sync for calendar and contacts, then turn it back on. Are you syncing notes with iCloud, or with an email account?

Phone is deleting texts immediately, no text or call log on my phone

My phone just started errasing text messages and calls all of a sudden. I didn't change any settings, and i've gone through all of them, and nothing seems to be different. But I can't even read texts because it erases them so quickly, and there is no record of me sending or recieving any (texts or calls). Can someone help me with this please?

CauseWhen the BlackBerry smartphone becomes critically low on memory, SMS messages and call logs will automatically be deleted in order to keep a minimum amount of free space available. This functionality is by design.
ResolutionIf the BlackBerry smartphone becomes low on memory, try the following:
Check how much memory is currently available. See KB04353 for further information.
Ensure that media is saved on the media card, and not on the BlackBerry smartphone.
Since web browsing results in cached files on the BlackBerry smartphone try clearing the browser cache. See KB03865 for further information.
Lower the reserved picture memory setting. See KB12383 for further information.
Use the application loader tool to remove any unused applications, such as themes, ring tones, or third-party applications.

SCOM2012 - SQL 2012 DB Log File Discovery isssue

Dear Experts,
I have some SQL 2012 servers, that has few log files (.LDF) stored in a specific drive. SCOM discovers these files but, has a wrong value in 'Display Name'.
For example. The log file name on the server is PROD and the file path c:\SQL\PROD.LDF, but in the console it shows name as UAT and file path as c:\SQL\PROD.LDF (file path is correct as expected). It always stays in critical state stating that the log file
is out of space while it is not the case.
We even have tried wiping the agent off the server and reinstalling it. But it did not fix the issue. When I remove the agent 'Operations Manager' under event log disappears, but when I reinstall the agent after few days, I see the log created,
but with older events too dated well prior to the uninstallation.
And the other thing is, we had this issue while using 2007 R2 and even after switching over to 2012 it continues.
SCOM 2012 was a fresh setup and was not an upgrade.
Hope someone could help me out with this.

Sorry for the delay in reply.
I hope the image can explain better. I have that log file on a SQL server, which is being discovered with a wrong File name but with the correct path. The actual file name what I see on the server is exactly the same as it shows in the File path in console.
But 'File Name' in the console is completely irrelevant. Also, this log file is in critical state for log file full, which is statistically false. There are few other log files on this server, for which we do not have this issue.
Please let me know if any other information would be required
