Mystery badge above Settings app?

There is a "1" red badge above the Settings app on my iPod Touch.  I would assume it would be for a system update, but when I go to that section of Settings, it says everything's up to date!  What else would be causing the badge to appear?  It's been there for a while and it's starting to annoy me.  I can't think of another Settings section that uses Badges.  How do I get rid of it?  Thanks in advance!

  • After iOS 7.1 update: red '1' badge on settings app

    Dear Apple Support Communities!
The download & update to iOS 7.1 was successful. Well more or less. My iPhone 5s made no problems, everything works fine. Except the iPad Air (WiFi, 32GB). After the update to iOS 7.1 the red '1' badge on the settings app stayed stuck. (See image below)
    Here my solution tries:
Checking via Settings-Software-Update or/and Info, if I have the latest iOS version installed - I have iOS 7 (Build:11D167) installed
System reset (Home & standby button pressing) - No change
Restore from iCloud backup - No change
Restore from iTunes backup - No change
The only thing, which worked as a 'soluation' was a restore to a new device. Unfortunately I have to re-sync all my stuff manually. This is very disburbing/frustrating and I now decided to wait for a fix, iOS 7.1.1!
    Here how it looks:
In advance I thank you for any help!

No changes. It's totally frustrating! Apple took so long to release the update and now this...

  • The software update badge does not show on the settings app on iphone 4s?? How to fix it?

    Hi ,
I have a new iphone 4s and since i have baught , the new software update badge does not show on the settings app icon in my phone ,
Though the new update shows in the software update menu.
Any idea how to make the icon show the badge ???

Software Update option is only available if you have IOS 5 or above.
Your iPhone 3G IOS 4.2.1 is the end of line, there's no more update for this model.

  • How do I hide the red "1" badge in the Settings app?

I have no intention of updating from iOS 6 to 7, as I understand it runs slowly on iPhone 4. Just today the little red "1" badge showed up on the Settings app icon and I'd like to make it go away. I tried Settings>Notifications, but Settings isn't in the list of apps to configure. Is there any way to clear it that doesn't involve jailbreaking?
    Thanks.

    No.

  • Settings App Badge?

Hey everyone, this is my first post so I am sorry if this has been asked already. Ever since Apple released the 5.0.1 firmware update, my Settings App icon has had the little red ball badge on it. I know this is b/c I have not updated my software and I do not intend so. I guess I am one of the very few fortunate people who have not been plagued with the battery issues.  My question is, is there any way I can get rid of the badge icon on the app without running the update? It is more annoying then anything else, I guess I could just ignore it. But if there is a way to get rid of it I would really appreciate it if someone could tell me how.
    Thanks so much!

Hey there. Thanks for the advice, but unfortunatly it did not work. After restoring iOS there was still a badge on the settings app.

  • Clear badge notification from Settings App

So I recetnly installed the iOS 6.0 update on my iPhone 4, problem is the badge notification (big red "1") is still showing up on my "Settings" app/icon. How do I clear it, because it is soooo annoying?!?!
    Thanks

I am VERY cautious about software updates and have therefore not updated any of my devices. I might, and I stress, might update the 4S to get Do-not-disturb, but most likely only when .01 or .1 comes out. The iPad will most propably stay on 5.1.1 as there are no real benefits for it in iOS6 over iOS5 (for the functions I use). I believe that if something is working properbly, why rock the boat?
As mentioned I gave the iPhone 4 to my parents. They are both in their 70's and only use it to make calls and send SMS messages. iOS6 will have no benefit for them and I'm not risking a 4 in perfect working order with a software upate that can cause WiFi issues, FaceTime issues and the usual battery drain. The 4 is working perfectly for them. No need to take the risk.
    Hope this helps.

  • Settings app still shows "1" badge.

I've tried to update to 8.0.1 today and it did download the update, but when it tried to install it failed.  This was the point when Apple stop the update.  Now my settings app is still showing "1" on it.  Is there anyway to clear it?

    Hey there Mary491,
It sounds like you have already updated your device, but you still see a badge indicating there is an update to be installed. I would start by checking for a Software Update again to see if that refreshes the Settings app and removes the badge:
Tap Settings > General > Software Update.
From: Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
              http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4623
If that does not, I recommend closing all the running apps on the device:
iOS: Force an app to close
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5137
    Double-click the Home button.
Swipe left or right until you have located the app you wish to close.
Swipe the app up to close it.
When you have done tha restart the phone and see if it goes away:
iOS: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Take care,

  • My iPod touch is stuck in the settings app. Neither the power or the front button will get me out.

After entering the Settings App on my iPod touch, I am able to navigate around settings, but pressing the button on the front does not return the iPod out of the app.  I also tried powering down by pressing and holding the power button, but there is no response.

    Try the remaining items of:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • TS1702 Fitness HD for the iPad is no longer supported and it keeps saying that it needs to be updated in the badge on my app icon store. Apparently, it was bought by another company and now that company wants to charge me 2.99 to update my app. I

About a year ago, I purchased FItness Hd for the iPad. Yesterday, it showed up in the app badge as needing to be updated. I clicked it and now it keeps telling me that this app is no longer available for purchase. When I look into the app store, the same app is now for sale 2.99 under a different company. I have tried to delete and reinstall the app thinking it will clear out the badge on the app icon stating that I have one update. This is frustrating. Somehow, this company was sold and my old app/software is causing a conflict with the App store. Help???

Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately, my query is not so much about the sale of the company and the dream. I agree with you on that point. Good for them. My frustration is that this old app has now caused a glitch in my Apple App Store icon. I have a red badge with one update and it is referring to the old app that has been sold that needs to be updated. When I try to update the app it says no longer available for purchase. So I have since deleted that app in hopes that it would resolve the red badge issue. It has not. Somehow, that old app and the new app with the same name but by a different company has caused the glitch. I have reset all settings on my iPad, I have rebooted, I have deleted the app and still the red badge with the one update for the old app is there. Hmmm. . . I guess I need to take this into the Genius bar or wait for ios 7 in hopes that it will fix the glitch. Thanks again for your help.

  • Badge on (settings)

I'm using iPad 3 and iOS 6.0.1 . Actually i know that normally a badge appears on the settings app when a new software update is out . I don't know why nothing appears on my iPad ! Yesterday , i was checking on a new software update in settings<general and it appears that theres the new iOS 6.1 . So why my iPad doesn't alert me when a new update is out ?

Did it find the download, and did you download it ? From http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4623 :
If you leave the update to download in the background, once the download has finished you will receive a notification saying an update is available for your device. Tapping Details will take you to Settings > General > Software Update. Tap Install Now to install the iOS update. If you decide to leave the installation for later Settings will display notification badge until the update has been installed.

  • Where is "float window above other apps" in digital color meter ?

Where is the option to Float window above other apps in digital color meter (osx 10.8.2) ?

It's difficult to provide help without knowing your level of color-management expertise, but I think you've helped us some with that in post number 2.
Color management is basically this:  Images and devices have certain color characteristics, and these are described by color profiles, sometimes also called color spaces.
    1.  You should not need to use the Proof Setup at all to view your images on your monitor.  When things are set up properly Photoshop shows you accurate color without your choosing View - Proof Colors.
    2.  A color-managed application like Photoshop will try to show you accurate color on your display by interpreting both the image profile and your monitor profile and transforming the colors accordingly.  BY DEFINITION this will look different than other applications which don't do color-management as these just pump the image RGB values directly out to the display.
    Thus:
If your monitor profile indicates your monitor has a wide gamut, images with embedded profiles may appear less saturated inside Photoshop than from non-color-managed apps.
If you view images that have an embedded wide gamut profile (such as Adobe RGB 1998 or ProPhoto RGB), Photoshop and other color-managed applications will interpret that profile and the colors will likely appear more saturated in Photoshop than in a non-color-managed application.
It sounds as though the first case applies in your case here.
You can check to see what monitor profile is associated with your monitor through OS settings.  I'm thinking, based on the caption buttons in your screen grab, that you've got Windows XP, but rather than go further with that assumption, I'll ask you to verify it first.

  • Settings app crashes when I try to manage music

I have a 64GB iPhone 6+, and I am currently running iOS 8.2.  Although I have been utilizing iTunes Match, I temporarily disabled this feature thinking it was contributing to the following problem:  I want to delete some specific music that apparently is stored on my iPhone because it is still on my phone even after I have "hidden" these particular songs within my iCloud account.  When I go to: Settings>General>Usage>Manage Storage I select "Music" and my iPhone will delay for several seconds - almost like it is trying to populate all of the stored music - then the settings app crashes.
As I mentioned above, iTunes Match, on my phone has been disabled, thinking that this may be causing the problem.  I signed out of my home sharing on my phone, as well, however, neither of these procedures has worked.  This same issue has been occurring prior to the release of iOS 8.2 because I searched the forum for solutions to this issue.

Mine is doing the same thing! UGH!

  • Settings App Crashes - V Specific!

    Hi,
I've got the iPhone 4, updated to iOS 4.0.2 on the Vodafone UK Network. I've already done a 'Restore' and it doesn't seem to be solving my issue. The specific issue is:
When i open up the Settings App and go to General -> Network. Then when i click on Mobile Data Network, the app crashes.
It works absolutely fine for everything else in the settings app. I thought it might be too many apps and so i removed some which i didn't use anymore, and this doesn't solve the issue!
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Jamie.

Hi and welcome to Apple Discussions, Jamie!
If you haven't already, install any carrier settings updates that are available.
Have you installed any configuration profiles on the iPhone?
Did you restore the iPhone and set it up as a new device or restore from backup?
If you restored the iPhone from a older backup with some configuration profile, it may not behave correctly. Try restoring the iPhone again and setting it up as a new device.
You can restore from another user account on your computer, to avoid complications with backups, or create an archive of previous backups.
    From http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1766:
    Remember:
    * If you choose to set up as a new iPhone or iPod, first transfer your purchases and other data, then back up any important backups of that device you want to retain from the backup folders listed above. iTunes only retains one sync-generated backup per device, and the first sync after setting up as new will replace your previous backup. If you change your mind and want to restore to your previous state, you will have to do so from a backup that you have retained through your periodic backup routine. If you have Mac OS 10.5.5 or later and use Time Machine, Time Machine may back up your backup. Copies of a backup marked with a date and time stamp created by selecting to "Restore from the back up of" are retained by iTunes and not overwritten. For an example of a backup with the date and time stamp in the device name, see the picture below in the Deleting a Backup section.

  • Sometimes car will not connect via bluetooth unless I go into settings app

I've updated my Iphone 4 to IOS5.  I've paired the phone with my car (Infinity) and it usually works.  But sometimes it does not connect.  I've notice that in those cases I can get my phone to connect immediately by going into the settings app on my iphone.  I just have to enter the settings app, I don't have to change anything, I don't even have to go into general settings where bluetooth is.  I just have to enter the settings app and the car will connect to my iphone via bluetooth immediately every time.  has anyone run into this?

Just checking again to see if anyone has run into the problem I described above and may have an answer.  It is really annonying.
