Mystery Dock window - what is it?
I've just noticed what appears to be the corner of a window in the upper left corner of my screen, and I can't figure out who it belongs to. Screenshot is here:

After trying everything to get rid of it, I finally noticed that it temporarily disappears when I issue a "killall Dock" in the Terminal, but as soon as the Dock reloads, the window corner is there again. I've closed all my Dashboard widgets (perhaps I should uninstall them too?), but I'm otherwise at a loss.
Clicking (left or right) on the window corner does nothing (in Dashboard a click will take me back to the Finder), and it can't be moved. How odd. Should I just tolerate it? It is out of the way, at least.

I know what it is... is a little gray sign to show you that it is a HOT CORNER.
You may have that corner configured to show Exposé, Dashboard or a Screensaver when the mouse is over... if so, don't worry about 'cause it's very easy to remove...
Open Terminal (Applications/Utilities) and write this line:
defaults write com.apple.dock wvous-showcorners -bool false
You'll see that it probably didn't do anything, but there is yet another step.
Go to System Preferences and Dashboard & Exposé. There you'll see your hot corners (you should have the top-left one active). It doesn't matter what is there, just click the dropdown menu and select none
The little grey circle is gone. Those mysterious grey circles won't come back, so you can set anything as a hot corner again.

I am looking for the answer to how to develop docking windows like that in NetBeans?
I have been going through APIs of NetBeans' source code. I find the package org.netbeans.swing.tabcontrol. And I have tried the demo program in the folder. But I still do not know how the docking is implemented?
Can someone give me some hints or advice on this? Thanks.What if I want to use the source code of NetBeans?
You know unlike Eclipse, it is developed by Swing. It is quite successful project with nice GUI, and most important, it is open source.
But how do they implement in NetBeans? -
After connecting my iphone to my Macbook Pro to download photos to my phone yesterday, my Pages application is gone from my computer. The icon is still in the dock. What happened and how do I get it back? Its not in my trash or anywhere else.
The other 2 applications open like normal. All three give me info.
Pages ver.4.1 265.8MB
Numbers ver. 2.1 89.5MB
Keynote ver. 5.1.1 238.1MB
They all list Apr 3 as the last time opened. That was when I upgraded to Mavericks. I certainly used pages and numbers since then as I have alot of my work files on this computer?
Just very odd. I did find my original iWorks disc from when I bought the computer. I'm assuming i can reinstall it. Will try that. Thank you for all your help. Would still like to know what did happen?

You know you can customize the Dock to whatever you like, right? You can drag things out if you don't want them, or add things by dragging them in from the Applications folder. Drag Launchpad back from the Applications folder into the Dock to add it back again.

Creator 2 Problem - Docked Windows Keep Popping Up
I'm having an issue with the released version 2. I have all of my windows, i.e. Palette and Navigator on the left and Projects and Properties on the right, docked and minimized. Then, when I move to the tab of another file, these windows pop to the foreground and stay there even when I click the underneath file editor.
I'm using the latest release, fully updated. Win2K, 2GB RAM. Anyone else having this problem? Anyone know how to fix it?Here's the reply I gave in another thread

To see if this really is worth fixing ...
If Palette and Output are closed. Is it really unacceptable to
open via a shortcut key combination?
Or docked windows should remain in the docked state regardless
of switching to the Designer?
In this case then activating using shortcut keys is more
efficient than clicking the docked area ?
I do see in Creator 1.0 that docked windows remain docked
when switching, in a sense, a regression.
If this is really an inconvenience then I can file a bug

when trying to download ipod reset utility for windows i get a message that the installer is intended for 32-bit version of windows. what can i do?
I assume you have tried everything here?
iPod: Cannot restore or update in iTunes with error 1415, 1417, 1418, 1428, 1429, 1430, 1436, or 1439
It doesn't mention 1442, but the same troubleshooting applies.
It wouldn't hurt to also try another available USB port on your machine and another sync cable if possible.
Lastly, try restoring the iPod on another PC or Mac running iTunes.
If you know of somebody with a PC running Windows XP still, ask them if you can download the reset utility and use it to reset the Shuffle.

I have mac book pro and recently bought mountain lion online, i then used bootcamp to upload windows 7 now i have no sound when i use windows what can i do to get sound.
Install the required Windows drivers: Boot Camp Support Software 5.0.5033. Download this link preferably from Windows. Otherwise, download onto a FAT formatted USB disk from which you can copy to your Windows system.

I installed windows 7 using Boot camp, Then i wanted to install the support software using boot camp and it always stops at 50% i tried installing the software using internet it always gives me error when i start installing it on windows, What to do?
What is the error? Are you following the Bootcamp instructions? Where on the "internet" are you trying to install from? Did you try downloading from here http://www.apple.com/support/bootcamp/downloads/?

Is there a keystroke that simultaneously opens all Docked windows?
Being able to Dock all open windows with a single keystroke (Option-click yellow button) is very useful, but I don't know of a way to get all Docked windows back open again at one time.
Is there a way?

Sound keeps going off, and "dock connector" appears in the volume window.What can I do?
Every time I try to use the Ipad, the music stops, and the words "dock connector" appear in the volume window. The it stops.Pandora, or the ipod. Doesnt matter
Try resetting your iPad. Hold Power + Home until the Apple logo appears.

Emoticon sign in chat window, what is yours?
I noticed that "emoticon" button in the chat window may be different, I saw it both with "smiling mouth" and with "upside down" mouth. I noticed that in different Skype clients on different machines and also on images published elsewhere like in reviews about Skype and how-to's.
"Upside-down" sign occurs not so often as "smiling". Why it differs and depends of what? I'm curious.
And what is your emoticon sign?

I knew about Skype easter eggs like additional emotes and cat but not about "frowny face" -
I was just resetting the FCE-HD, but didn't finish when it shut down. I tried to reopen several times using Icon in the Dock, but no luck. The Opening Slate came up as though it was loading, but within 5 seconds it shuts down w/out loading. I then chose to try opening a couple of different stored projects, but get the same results. What happened and how can I access Final Cut Express to complete resetting it and begin a new or open an established project?
You can try a re-install.

to completely remove FCE then try the re-install.
You do have the DVD and serial number available for the re-install?
Sometimes a conflicting program or plug-in for FCE can be the cause.
Do you have any non Apple apps or plug-ins on your Mac?

When I click a link it won't open up another window, what do I do?
There is a website I use for my business and when I select several items on the main page to produce a report nothing happens. On my old pc the report would open in another window. Nothing happens with my new macbook pro. Why won't the report open?

Is the report in another browser window or different application?
In the General Safari Preferences there are options for link behavior.
What type of file are the reports in? html, pdf, .xls ?
What website? Is it internal at your work?
etc.
I am sure someone can help with just one or two bits of extra info.

Hi fellow Mac heads, It's an intermittent problem but every now and then but say I put a colour correction or two on some video, drop in an alpha graphic and perhaps drop in an mp3 music with a view to render before play out. Everything works as expe
