N gage update N86?

when i check updates in n gage it says there is one but the n86 is not listed.
Any ideas how to update it?

i visited the n-gage website at www.n-gage.com, clicked on Get N-gage and the Nokia N86 8MP was presented to me. went to bottom of page and clicked on the link to download the latest version of the client: 1.21 (1536).
all you need to do is transfer this application to your phone, run the SIS file to install it and hey presto, working N-gage

Can't install N-GAGE update error

I have a second brandnew N96. The first had a fabric failure. A piece of plastic was blocking the speaker. So when i made a phonecall i couldn't here the "other side". On that same N96 the N-GAGE application failed to install. I tried to download it from the N96 connected with GPRS. The result was a UPDATE ERROR. I followed all the instructions on the N-GAGE website and i checked the firmware. Everything seems to go fine but in the final stage the UPDATE ERROR occurs. So i hooked it up with USB to my PC. I downloaded the application and tried to install, resulting in the same UPDATE ERROR.
I can not understand that this expensive and state of the art device is not working like it should. The manual of the TETRIS game from the box with the serial number is just kept in the box... I bought something but i can not use it.
I had to bring the first N96 back to the store. I hoped that everything would be solved with this new N96. But also this new device can not install the N-GAGE application.
Please help me out.

Ok, so I am seriously at wit's end right now... I have the N81 8gb, with v21.0.010, I have been struggling to update my n-gage for the past 3 days... I updated my firmware a few weeks ago, and everything was fine, I updated my n-gage without any hassles, until I decided to format my phone... BIG MISTAKE!! Anyway, now I can't seem to update my n-gage v1.10 (1349)! What happens is, I try to install v1.20 (1459), and then it gives me "update error", but when I check my application manager, it shows that I do, in fact, have v1.20 installed! I then check in the n-gage app itself, and it shows v1.10! What gives?!
I did the soft reset (*#7370#) to no avail; I did the hard reset (*- green call button - 3) to no avail as well! I have absolutely no idea what the problem is! I formatted my mass memory as well, thinking the problem lay there, but nothing! If anyone has any advice on how to sort this out, it will be much appreciated!

N-gage update problem

each time i update my n-gage client it decrease about 4or5 Mb of my phone memory My phone memory was 42 Mb free and now (after updating N-gage Client) is 37 Mb free is there any way to prevent this problem?

Are you sure it's n-gage and not say your browser cache eating up space the more you use it? If you haven't already, try clearing your personal data from the Browser and check again.

Can't update N86 software

Nokia software updater doesn't seem to be able to find the update for my phone. I'm running the original v10 (10.086) firmware, and the Nokia web site tells me there's an update available. (v11)
Is there a way to manually update the phone firmware? I'm sick of it freezing randomly and having to pull out the battery!

the updates are released based on product codes/regions. not all can update right away. sometimes you have to wait for your product code update to be released.
that gets to be even more cumbersome when you have a branded/locked unit to the network that may take forever to get released as network has to approve the update.
you can try updating via FOTA or NSU- nokia software updater those are your only options.

Software updater on Windows 7 RC

Im having trouble running this application, I was able to use it in compatibility mode on Windows 7 Beta, but since RC I cannot run the application no matter what compatibility mode I choose.
once doubled the icon, the startup splash screen appears for abou 1 minute, then get a message saying
" Missing Software components
Critical Software components are missing.
Please reinstall "
Iv reinstalled 5 times, but still get this exact same error/pause.
Any suggestions?

Thanks for the answers, but I had already tried all of them, with no luck...
I found that answer, for some reason, the "servicelayer" service was being stopped after Win 7 startup, so it was not running when I tried opening Software Updater,
Anyone having trouble with this, the solution is to:
CTRL+ALT+TAB, and choose "start task manager", then select the "services" tab, scroll to "ServiceLayer" and right click. Now choose, "start", it should now say its "running".

If you have free trial on your phon efor 7 days, you need to open in your phone:

This I wrote in the "Nokia E71 and E66 get free navigation, today" thread but it fits this one as well. So here it is. (Yes I know that the 1 year licens is €10 now).
This "news" is really a slap in the face to us N82/N95 owners who also runs S60 3.1.
If Nokia from the very beginning told us that "Sorry folks, if U got an older phone you don´t be able to get the free navigation Ovi Maps" then my reaction would be, ok that´s life.
But when you read things like
Ovi Maps are already available for download for 10 Nokia models, including the popular mini Nokia N97, Nokia 5800 XpressMusic and Nokia E72. More models are expected to be included in the coming weeks.
And everywhere on the Nokia website
-Navigation on your Nokia. For free. Forever
-Mobile navigation for everyone
-All this with only one click. And it's all free.
-Ovi Maps Free navigation on your Nokia.
You really hope that it will be free on your Nokia.
And on top of that the E66 and E71 get the Free navigation (So the limitations could´t be the software S60 3.1). Then I think me and many N82/N95 users are mildly upset.
After used five Nokia phones I don´t planning to buy a new one. Instead of spending €99.99 for 1 year navigation I put the money in a HTC android phone. Then I can spend €25-€30 on a no limit navigation software.

Now people say. It is a lot of coding, programming bla bla bla.... to make it work in N82/N95.
I´ll give you the solution for free. Just reduce the licens price to €0 or €0.10 for the 3.01 Ovi Maps.

N-gage does not work after Update

If you know of any threads that handles my problem, please tell me!
What I have done:
I installed the N-Gage on my N95 choosing the 8GB memory card as the install place. Current Software was: 20.0.015
I downloaded and paid for the game "Creatures of the deep", which I like very well.
I backed up my Phone with Nokia Backup utility, choosing all options of possible backups.
I updated the phone with the Nokia software updater to version 21.0.016.
I made a recovery with Nokia Backup utility, using the backup I made earlier.
Result:
Everything works:
The Garming Mobile XT GPS program
The Office Premium
And other programs works perfectly fine.
But:
When I press the OK button to start up the N-Gage, (Blue), nothing happend. I tried starting it without any luck.
So I tried unistall it, but ut does not unistall compleatly. The blue Icon stays.
I tried reinstall it but I get the message, "File not found".
I tried reset to factory default, but then I lost everything I had done, and all programs.
So I made another recovery, but still the same problem.
After reading threads after threads I am getting pretty frustrated since I can not get N-Gage to work.
Now!
Are there anyone with some cleaver solutions out there?

Hi, I did some searching here at the forum and found this post. Seems that a possible way to update could be using the stand alone program "Nokia software updater" and if it fails too, like the post linked to below, you can run it in compatibility mode, and as an admin.

MFE v 2.10 how to updat for N86 8MP

Greetings from Sydney,
I have a N86 8MP with software updated to v20.115 installed. Mail for Exchange (MFE) is showing as v 2.1.0. (from about) I have tried to update via the applications tab and nothing is available.
With v2.1.0 I do not have the option available for Out of Office or to set Flag status for e-mail.
I have tried to install 2.9.158 for S60 v3 but it comes up 'update error'.
Does anyone know how to update MFE on this mobile?

whats wrong with win xp? its the most stable version i've ever used.
it also sounds to me like you are asking questions here because you are being ill-advised
if you have two hard drives you want to install, load up win xp and partition and format them both
if you want to keep data off the one drive, format the other and keep it; win xp works with both NTFS and FAT32 partitions, so if you keep it as a FAT32 disk and don't format it, win xp will still be able to read it if it is connected as a slave drive
and as for whoever advised to buy a PCI controller card, this is the 21st century!! all motherboards have IDE controllers now!! i remember the old 486 days with the E-IDE VLB controller cards, now thats going back a bit!

N86 8MP v10.086 firmware not updating to v20 & v21

Hi All,
I had buy a Nokia N86 8MP on 3rd Feb'2010 from a reputed mobile store in bhubaneswar,Orissa,India
The firmware version installed is ''v10.086''
As per nokia ''v20''& ''v21.006'' is released.
So I go for an update via NSU and via AIR, but its showing your firmware is upto date and no update is there for v10.086 where as v20 and v21 is already released.
My phone is also not associated with brand such as Orange,Vodafone,T-mobile etc.
Also I have buy from a certified mobile shop.
I have also gone through Nokia.co.in site, its says to enter the code of the mobile which is below the battery,I also go for that and same result comes out v10.086 is latest for the code.
I can also give my code if somebody ask for it
Is there is no update for my mobile?
Is face detection I can't avail?
As per nokia v20 & v21 is already released but why not for my N86?
Most importantly Is in future whether I can avail this updates or not?
Please help me out for which I ll be grateful to you neither my 20k bucks will be simply wasted.

I just bought Nokia N86 8MP,my phone cant update to latest firmware version.It say software update failed, for optimum connectivity,your USB cable should be connected directly to the pc,and not via USB hub,USB keyboard orl aptop docking station.My USB cable is fine and ok.I closed my antivirus and turn off the firewall,but it still failed.I also uninstall the Nokia Pc suite and software updater, and download the latest version from nokia.com.my but it still failed.Any1 can help me?I am using Window XP service pack 2.

N86 won't update via Updater!

Can someone please help, i have a N86 on Orange and i'm trying to update from v10.086 to the latest v11 firmware but when i connect to the pc and run the Nokia updater its saying there that the latest firmware is 10.086 and would i like to reinstall this, i'm sure there is a v11 firmware release. Any suggestions? Can i get the firmware another way?

i also tried going in a different way as you mentioned Menu---tools----Device manager----options--Check for updates but unfortunatley it came back saying there are no updates!
i'll just have to try and contact the right dept in Orange and see if they can release the firmware.

Nokia N86 and Three (Network) Firmware Updates

When will we see a firmware update for the N86 on Three network? I got it yesterday as an exchange for my N85 and though i like the phone, the phone does freeze and crash on simple things like opening the inbox for messages and loading music.
Checked for updates, there were none, seems to be stuck on v11

That's up to Three. When they approve the update and add their customisations, Nokia will post it.
