N-series Cardbus Adapter

Moving ahead with 802.11n technology, will Cisco be coming up with N-series Cardbus Adapter for the clients?

Official word from Cisco: "Yes! Eventually..."
Honestly, I don't expect to see one until 802.11n is standardized.

  • Win 7 x64 Driver for a 32bit CF Cardbus Adapter (x61)

Does anyone know where I can get a Win 7 x64 driver for a 32bit CF cardbus adapter mounted in the Lenovo x61 internal multicard reader?
I am running Win 7 x64 on a Lenovo X61 7675-CTO.  I have an Viking 32 Bit High Speed Compact Flash Cardbuss Adapter inserted in the internal multicard reader.  When I insert a CF card in the reader, I get  "Mass Storage Controller" and "drivers for this device are not installed" error indicators from the Windows Device Manager.
This configuration was working fine for me under Win XP x32.  I read the suggestion posted to another thread that one can downgrade to Win 7 x32, but I am hoping for a X64 solution.  I have already installed the "6iio10ww" Intel Matrix Storage Manager Driver for Windows 7 (64-bit).  The problem seems to be that Viking has not released a x64 driver for this product.  It seems Microsoft should have installed the proper driver during the OS install since this device was around before the Win 7 was introduced.
Can anyone suggest a source for the proper driver or an alternative CF card cardbus adapter known to work with Win 7 x64 OS?

    Thanks!

  • Is this PCMCIA cardbus adapter compatible with WallStreet?

Greetings, I too have inherited an older laptop - in this case, a PB G3 (black) which I'm pretty sure is the Wall St. model. I'd love to bring it up to date and I found this item online for only about $14.
Sabrent USB 2.0 PCMCIA Cardbus Adapter (2 Ports) with USB Power Cable
I just don't know if it will work, though the description says it's mac compatible. If anyone here knows, please let me hear from you, or if you can recommend something that's best for this model. It looks like I can just plug it into the slot on the side and, wow, I can connect USB devices! I'd like to have one port for FireWire, but that might be pushing it with this older powerbook. BTW, it only has OS 8.1 installed...is there any problem? Of course I'd like to have OS 9.2 (I have the disc from my powermac), or even OS X 3.9...is that also possible?
    Many thanks,
    Keith

    Keith,
Sounds like a good price for the CD-ROM.
I cannot say with any confidence that your machine-specific PowerMac OS 9.1 will boot the Wallstreet...it may. Starting with 9.1, some of the machine-specific MacOS CDs (Installer CDs, not the ones that had 'Restore' on the label) would boot other models. If it does not, you will have to buy the retail MacOS 9.x CD or install in the method described earlier. All I can say at this point is to wait for the CD-ROM drive to arrive, then see if your OS 9.1 CD will boot.
Just a quick note: If the OS 9.1 does not appear to boot when restarting and pressing the 'c' key, reset the PRAM, then try again.
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=2238
If the 9.1 CD does boot, I would recommend you do NOT update your installed OS 8.1; select erase and perform a clean install. You want to start out with fresh HD, not one that may have problems.
Please note this before installing 9.1: Since the Wallstreet does not have built-in USB ports, the necessary USB extensions will not be installed from the MacOS System CD. The easiest workaround is to have your USB PC card installed in the PCMCIA card slot before installing the OS. When the installer runs, it will "see" the USB hardware and install the appropriate drivers (extensions). When you pop the USB card in the slot under your OS 8.1, you will get a message that says the necessary drivers are not installed and would you like to eject the card...do not eject it. You can also Custom Install the extensions if you do not have the USB PC card.
Another little item with USB PC cards:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=31135
The OWC Universal Hard Drive (ATA/IDE) to USB 2.0 Adapter is only used for one purpose; it allows you to connect a bare HD to a USB port. I suggested using this cable if you wanted to remove the Wallstreet's HD and connect it to your PowerMac and install an OS on the WS's HD. This USB cable was an alternative to placing the Wallstreet's HD in a 2.5" USB HD enclosure.
If you want to connect USB devices like a printer to the WS, you still need the USB 2.0 PC card.
With the Wallstreet's media bay CD-ROM, you will then be able to install apps, etc, from this drive. And with compatible MacOS CDs, you will be able to boot the Wallstreet from the CD-ROM drive.
It is easy to install RAM and I would suggest buying from OWC. If you stay with 9.x, I would think a 128MB module would be plenty of RAM; this will give you a total of 160MB (32MB lower slot + 128MB upper slot).

  • FIREWIRE CARDBUS ADAPTER WITH WALLSTREET G3 POWERBOOK!!!

    HELLO,
I HAVE A POWERBOOK WALLSTREET G3 266 MHZ, I JUST PURCHASED A FIREWIRE 2 PORT CARDBUS ADAPTER, I HAVE OS 9.2.2 INSTALLED I PUT THE CARD IN AND HOOK UP A FIREWIRE HARDDRIVE TO IT BUT IT SEEMS THAT NOTHING HAPPENS I'M NEW TO MAC IS IT LIKE WINDOWS IT DETECTS IT RIGHT AWAY, I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO
    PLEASE HELP!!!
    THANKS

    shumi,
Since the Wallstreet does no have built-in FireWire ports, no FireWire drivers are installed.
If you go to the Apple menu (upper left corner) > Control Panels > Extensions Manager, then go down the list in Extensions, you probably will not see these three extensions:
    FireWire CardBus Enabler
    FireWire Enabler
    FireWire Support
If perchance they are present but unchecked, check the boxes and then restart.
If they are missing, there are several options for acquiring these extensions.
    1. Download the MacOS 9.2.2 Update and run it on top of your already-installed 9.2.2; with the FireWire PC card in the card slot, the installer will see the FireWire hardware and install the FW Enabler and FW Support but not the necessary FW CardBus Enabler because it is not in the Update.
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=75186
    2. Download the FireWire CardBus Enabler file here; you should have as part of your software Stuffit Expander to expand the downloaded .sit file...it will probably expand automatically.
    http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macos/10842
    3. Once the downloaded Enabler file is on the desktop, open your HD icon where you will see a folder called System Folder...just drag the Enabler file on top of the System Folder icon and it will automatically be properly placed. I just downloaded this file and it has only a generic icon (plain piece of paper with folded corner) but the file still works fine. I will have to work on generating the custom icon.
    4. If you have already run the 9.2.2 Update, you should now have all three extensions; restart and test.
If your Wallstreet is like mine, you must place the FireWire PC card in the 'book and perform a restart (or cold start); otherwise the FW PC card will not be recognized...the card itself is not hot-swappable under 9.x.
P.S. Please use lower-case letters; upper-case is harder to read and is considered shouting.

  • Powerbook G3 series power adapter

I was just given an Powerbook G3 series computer that is missing the adapter. I have been looking on eBay but it is confusing because I really don't know what I'm looking for. I assume it needs the yoyo am I correct?
All I can tell about this laptop is the info on the back 14.1tft 233mhz 512k can't turn it on till I get it charged up. Can anyone help me out?
    Thanks Mary
P.S my other computer is an iBook with OSX 10 on different adapter
    iBook   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

    Mary,
    Welcome to the Discussions.
You have the Powerbook G3 Series M4753 a.k.a. "Wallstreet". The PB 1400, 3400, any black G3, and clamshell iBook all use the same output adapter (45 watts) and the same size power port plug. I believe it was sometime during 2000>2001 time frame that Apple moved from the rectangular black adapter to the so-called yo-yo or saucer adapter; these are also 45 watt output. Then Apple moved to the slimmer powerbooks and iBooks which required a smaller power port plug.
The yo-yo adapters are suseptible to wire failures at the power port plug and also where the DC wire enters the saucer; I would avoid that adapter unless new.
I would perform a search on Google for 'Apple 45w power adapter'. You will not only get eBay hits, but also other sites that sell new and used replacements.

  • UCS C series 10GB Adapter

    Hi,
We are planning to purchase a C210 server with 2 x 10GB NICs, these NICs will connect to a Nexus 5K switch, no other NICs will be used. The servers will run VMware ESX 5.0
What is the best 10GB adapter to use that will allow vNICs to be created for the different ESX vswitches - storage, vmotion, data etc? Will the P81E be suitable or the QLOGIC 8152?
    thanks,

For each vswitch you create within ESXi, you will need at least one  upstream nic.  The QLogic is fixed with 2 ports .  The P81E also has 2  ports but can host multiple virtual NICs on these two ports.
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/ps10265/ps10493/data_sheet_c78-558230_ps10279_Products_Data_Sheet.html
You  mention 2x 10Gb NICs.  The C210 will only support a single 2-port 10Gb  NIC.  I suspect this is what you meant but want to clarify the  restriction.

Only a single VIC card may be installed and it must be installed  in either slot 1 or slot 2 (see Figure 3 on page 5 for slot numbering).

  • No internet via CardBus adapter

    Hello everyone,
I have a Dual Adpater that osx 10.5 natively supported and ran without a problem. Upon installing Snow Leopard I noticed that the CardBus Bridge in the System Profiler shows 'No' for Driver installed, but 10.5 has it installed and working right off installation. Any suggestions?

I foolishly upgraded to new firmware two daze ago even though I was having no probs with home network of AEBS, AX, iMac and PB. (Good rule of thumb always, if it ain't broke, etc). Anyways, hours of frustration later I was having ALL of the problems folks have talked about here, unable to reach AEBS, unable to connect to AX, set-up would work once and then fall apart. Must have done 10 to 20 hard resets of both AEBS and AX. Finally I tried activitaing "interference robustness" in Airport settings (in the past I had found that running IR had actually diminished my network range and reliability) and that allowed consistent launch of AEBS and network stability, then, following a previous post here, I did a factory reset of the AX (as opposed to the hard resets I was doing) and that got itunes running again on the stereo. I had previously tried reinstalling the old firmware but that created a pretty unstable wireless environment. This approach allows me to use the current 5.7 and 6.3 firmware upgrades. So far, so good. Good luck all; I know what a pain this can be. Apple should provide much more guidance on these upgrades. I've had too many inconsistent and unpleasant results after thoughtlessly accepting upgrades. (The previous combo of Safari and Quicktime led to frequent crashes when javascripts launched such that I stopped using Safari altogether.)

  • How to remove header data from JMS Queue while sending by jms adapter

    Hi.
I have a problem regarding the MQ-series JMS adapter.
When writing the file the JMS adaptor putting  some additional tags.
Actually we are converting idoc-xml to flat file by using ABAP mapping which is available in SAP document. We are using JMS Receiver adapter, whiel sending flat file to JMS QUEUE,  it is displaying some extra xml tags. I think this is the header data available in IDoc XML. Can any body help me in removing header data.
There must be some way for XI's JMS adaptor to not include these information.
    My example looks like this:
    RFH Ø
    ¸MQSTR
¸ " is junk that I really dont need in the file.
How can you setup the JMS adaptor not to put in these information?

  • Anybody had experience with Audigy2 PCMCIA + PCMCIA to PCI adapter?

I have been using my Audigy 2 ZS (PCMCIA) on a laptop as a media center for a looong time, but the laptop died and I'm using a cheap desktop for it.
The built-in soundcard lacks luster and I want to use my Audigy in it, but I'll be needing a PCI to PCMCIA adapter. Because the Audigy 2 ZS was so picky about the Cardbus adapter it was connected to, I want to know of other peoples' experiences on doing the same thing.
Has anyone else connected their Audigy 2 ZS - laptop into a desktop using a PCMCIA-to-PCI adapter? Which brand/model and how did it work out?

  • T40: PCMCIA 2.0 cardbus not working

I have a PCMCIA 2.0 cardbus that I want to use to give me extra USB ports, but it doesnt seem to work.
When I plug my LED light into it, then insert that cardbus into the PCMCIA slot the light comes on for a second, or two then goes out.
Is there a driver i can install to make this work correctly?
    Lenovo A1-07, T40 Thinkpad, T400 Thinkpad, iPhone 4s

    Hello,
Whether or not device drivers are required probably depends on which operating system is installed on the ThinkPad T40.
Do you have another notebook computer you can test the USB 2.0 CardBus adapter in, or another CardBus card to try using in the ThinkPad T40?  That should help you determine whether or not the problem is due to the card or the notebook.

    Bonjour.
