N1 system manager installation faied (newer version of Java web console)

Hi,
I am trying to install Sun N1 system manager on Solaris x86 U3 + all patches. Once I run the installer I got:
N1SM Installer (version 1.3.2 on SunOS)
1. Install OS packages. [Completed]
2. Install Expect. [Completed]
3. Install IPMI tool. [Completed]
4. Install JDK 1.5. [Completed]

8. Install user interface components. [Partially Run]
9. Install service container components. [Not Completed]
10. Install N1 System Manager. [Not Completed]
Failed Step: Install user interface components.
The following is a portion of the installer
log which may indicate the cause of the error.
If this does not indicate the cause of the
error, you will need to view the full log
file. More information on how to do that is
available below.
The Sun Java(TM) Web Console software already installed (version 3.0.2)
is newer than the version (3.0) you are attempting to install.
Downgrading is not supported. If you wish to run the older version,
you can install it after unintalling the currently installed version.
Error running lockhart setup: 1792
Please fix the problem and then try this step again.
For a full log of the failed install see the file: /var/tmp/installer.log.9327.
t. Try this step again (correct the failure before proceeding)

Is there any way to continue my installation and using currently installed version of Java Web Console?

Tried removing the currently installed Java Web Console as described at http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/817-1985/6mhm8o5l4?a=view
It says to simply run /usr/share/webconsole/bin/setup -u, however there is no setup binary in the listed dir.

I can't wait for 2.0, it will actually do the
programming by itself.3.0 will not only do the then-current programming tasks by itself, it will go backward in time and do all previous years' homework assignments, obfuscate the .class files, create .exes out of them, and cause all questions about them (even though those questions are no longer needed, nor even exist any more) to be clear and specific. Then it will undelete the watercooler.

  • Multiple versions og Java Web start conflicts

I have a situation where the same Windows 2000 station will run 2 Java-web-started applications from different Java version (one being 1.3_x with an early 1.0.1_02 version of Java Web Start and the second the most recent 1.4 packages).
It seems that the installation of the any Java Web Start would overwrite the previous installation, the result is that only one application can work at a time.
Though, I have one developement machine where both applications can run simultenously, yet I do not know how that was achieved (maybe just fluke).
I tried to point the Java Web start to different path without success.
    Any idea ?

Yep...JNLP is a file you configure a WebStart app in and one of the fields (j2se version) you specify what JRE(s) are acceptable. So, one can use 1.3 and another can use 1.4.
See http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/docs/guide/jws/developersguide/syntax.html if you want to see details on the JNLP syntax.

  • How can I check what version of Java Web Start is installed on the client ?

    hi,
Can anyone tell me how can I check what version of java web start is installed on the client and display a message if the client has not the good version ?
    I mean:
I'd like all people running my application use java 5 and if someone using java 1.4 try to run the application get a nice screen telling him to download the latest version of Java Web Start.
    Is this possible ?
    Thanks in advance.

Of course, I put this on my jnlp file,
    <resources>
        <j2se version="1.5+"/>
        <jar href="..... "/>
</resources> But even with that, it doesn't display a nice message but a kind of exception instead.
    Thanks in advance.

    Please help

    Hi
Please reveiw the following points in note
       - 493900 FAQ: Release Strategy
          4.  Why is the release strategy not determined?
"If you use version management, the determination of the release
strategy starts when the version is completed.
You complete a version by setting the "version completed"
          indicator in the version tab."
       - 662993 Resetting an already occurred release
You edit a purchasing document with release strategy.
You change the quantity or the price. In spite of that, the
already set release is not reset.
The release strategy works the same with or without version management
active - the only difference in case - version management is active -
is that if release is to be reset, it will be reset only on version
I hope this helsp to clarify this issue
    Kind regards,
    Lorraine

I get it. It is something related to my ISA Server firewall. Even though I allow all the traffic back and forth between my LAN and my DMZ , the issue remains.
Why do I know it is a ISA Server issue?, because I moved this pc client from the DMZ to the LAN (where the CA is) and it got a certificate right away, without any issue. As soon as I put it back on the DMZ, the problem begins.
I suppose I have to move this thread, therefore, to the ISA Server forum.
You need to disable the Strict RPC policy on your ISA server:

  • New version of Java for Mac OS X version 10.5.8?

    Hi everybody.
My homebanking tells me to get the latest version of Java to log on, but when I try searching for updates in the software update feature on my mac, it tells me that everything is up to date.
    What to do? Please help...
    Marie

That means you have the latest version of Java compatible with Leopard. If you need to upgrade, then you need to install Snow Leopard or Lion.
Snow Leopard General requirements ($29.00 from Apple's Online Store)
Mac computer with an Intel processor
    1GB of memory
    5GB of available disk space
    DVD drive for installation
Some features require a compatible Internet service provider; fees may apply.
Some features require Apple’s MobileMe service; fees and terms apply.
Lion System Requirements ($30.00 from App Store)
Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor
    2GB of memory
    OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
    7GB of available space
Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.
You can erase your drive and install Lion directly (if you meet other requirements) by purchasing Apple's USB Lion Flash Drive installer - $69.00 - from your local Apple retailer.

  • After downloading the "new version" of Java 6 times, my plugin-check page states that it has disabled my "outdated version" and asks for me to upgrade. What do?

    Background:
I have had this problem for several months, now. This problem began when an update came for Java on the Firefox Plugin-check. I promptly installed the new Java update. But the Firefox update wouldn't register that I downloaded it, even after I refreshed the page. So, I got rid of the old Java, and downloaded the new Java again. When the page continued to display the same message it had before, I downloaded it a few more times. Finally, Firefox stopped saying that I was out of date. Then a few weeks later maybe, I check Firefox Plugin, and on the page it says that I am outdated in Java. So I downloaded Java again. But Java was still in the list, with red and said that it needed to be updated. I restarted the computer. Then, I restarted Mozilla Firefox with no add-ons. When Java still appeared that it needed to be updated, I gave up and didn't do a thing more about it.
    Problem:
Today I decided to check my plugins. Java was not in update the list, and at the top a banner stated, "Missing JAVA? For your safety, Firefox has disabled your outdated version of Java. Please upgrade to the latest version." I clicked "upgrade to the latest version" and was led to the Java page. I clicked the download button. My cache stated that this was the (6) download of that same Java plugin (see background). I chose to re-download it anyways. But Firefox still insists that I have not downloaded it.
    Question:
Do I need to go to the control panel of Java and change something? Do I need to fix some setting on Firefox? Should I disable Java altogether, delete all Java-related files on my computer, and start all over with Java? What should I do?

Try using http://ninite.com/java/ninite.exe to install Java. Please note that even though you download it you have to double click it to get it to run and install.

  • Installing new versions of Java

First let me say I am a first time poster and hope I havent broken any rules. I am not a developer, just a home user who gets periodic prompts to update Java. My disk space is getting low and I noticed I have many versions of Java and JS2E Runtime Environment installed. I guess I assumed when I install an update, Java eliminates/overwrites previous versions. I now have over 1300 MB used up between Java and JS2E Runtime Environment. Hopefully, my question is VERY simple. Can I safely remove the previous versions wihtout totally messing up my PC? Again, please excuse my lask of knowledge regarding forum use. I'e never been in one before, and thnk you in advance for assistance with my very minor issue. I really just need the disk space!

You can go to Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs and remove all JRE installations.
Reboot and go to [http://www.java.com/en/download/|http://www.java.com/en/download/] and fetch and install the latest JRE.
You might want to use something like TreeSize to see where all your disk space has gone.

  • New version of Java Developer Certification

    Hi!
I' ve done the NW04 Dev Consultant Java Certification and am now wondering - as NW7.1 with Java EE 5.0 gets into Ramp-Up - when a new version (with a delta certification?) will be available for this educational path.
Additionally I would like to take either Portal or ABAP certification - could anybody tell me which of these two skills would better fit to my skill set and be more valuable in future?
    Regards,
    Thomas

I think you can do the Portal certification with little effort, at least I did. I just read the training material once (I had some experience in the Portal) and certified.
ABAP is really a big plus, even if you just develop portal/java/webdynpro/caf applications or components. But I personally wouldn't spend the time to get certified in it. It might be a better idea to go for the Sun Java 5 certification.

  • Quick quesion about installing newer versions of Java

I've got Windows XP Home and I had a quick check in Add or Remove (in Control Panel) and realised that I've got: -
    J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 5 and
    J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 6
I've read that Java Runtime Environment 1.5.0.7 is available.
I also heard that some older versions of Java may have security holes so should I install Java Runtime Environment 1.5.0.7 and if yes, should I delete the older versions that I've already got?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Generally the most current version (excluding an initial family release that introduces new features, like 1.5.0) is the most bug-free, since the changes incorporated are bug fixes only.
None of the versions 1.5.0_05, _06, or _07 have any known security problems.
Since Java versions are independent, unless you have a specific reason otherwise, only one version is required. Uninstall in reverse install order before installing a new version to minimize potential problems.
