N100 shuts down whenever I play games or browse any graphic intense web sites

I bought a Lenovo 3000 N100 - HCQ 0768 on Aug-07. I was not having any problems for the first 6 months. But for the last couple of months, my notebook is shutting down after few minutes of me playing FIFA 07. Later, I checked with other games too and the result is the same. This happens even when I open web-sites on more than 5 tabs in Firefox. Speedfan reports overheating with temperatures easily touching high 70s. Can someone please point me in the right deirection.

i think it partly answers your question regarding CPU temperature been too high, the CPU temperature is usually 25 to 30 degrees on top of your ambient temperature.... so if your room temperature gets to 45 then the CPU should be around 70+ , however that is just rule of thumb..... since your room is dusty, then there is an extremely good chance that there is a large amount of dusts clogging your fan and heat dissipating fin, so some cleaning is in order.... but first give Lenovo service a call and ask them to have a look... but from now on you need to clean your fan assembly regularly and also during summer period buy a laptop cooler system, shouldn't be too expensive, but it would help to lower your laptop's CPU temp by around 10 degrees.....

My HP Pavilion All-in-One shuts down during certain computer games. Any ideas why?

My HP Pavilion All-in-One is a year old, and has started shutting down on certain PC games and on one online game, Wizards 101. Can anyone tell me why or what I can do to prevent this? The games were not from original disks, don't know if that has anything to do with it or not. We have uninstalled them, but may buy originals if this would make any difference. Thanks

Linda, welcome to the forum.
It sounds like a heat problem to me. Most laptops and All-in-ones are frankly not meant for gaming. Also, you could try installing any patches that are available for the games. This could be part of the problem if not the heat.

Hi. My macbook pro got the shutdown problem two weeks ago. When I was using skype, it shutted down immediately when I opened safari windows or a new tab on the safari windows. Then I installed google chrome for my mac, no shutdown problem any more for 2 days. But now, it shuts down whenever I clicks to a certain item on the desktop, e.g. skype, adobe, word. Is there anyone know what is happenning to my mac and how to fix it? Thanks.

My MacBook shuts down whenever I move the machine, and then refuses to turn back on. What is causing this?

I've been in possession of a 2011 MacBook Pro with OS X Lion since October. Ever since the second or third month I received my MacBook, it has had this problem of shutting down whenever I even touch the monitor, and then occassionally refuses to turn back on. I used to be able to ignore it, as it was rare: now it has become a real problem. Does anyone have any advice? How could this have happened? Is it something I might have downloaded, or is it the battery itself? I think it would be the battery, as the machine refuses to cooperate unless being operated on a flat surface. Thanks in advance.

Have you solve your problem yet? Mine was the same - it's Dockables "fault"
Were you able to boot into Safe Mode, by pressing and holding Shift key at Start up, I think you need to press and hold a while, till you see a progress bar below the Apple logo.
Then you can quickly go and delete all the Dockables.
If you found another way to boot up, also delete Dockables immediately.

Why? Because it is working the processors hard. Same as when you work or exercise, your body gets hot, so does the iPhone when it is working. Skype and many games will tax the processors more so than browsing the internet, sending texts or email. So, it gets hot. If it doesn't cool off fairly quickly after you quit Skype or playing your game, or it gets hot when doing less taxing activities, then you might want to have it checked out.

The original iPad has a slow processor and only 256 MB of memory so it often runs into low-memory failures.
Double click the home button and dismiss all of the recents - I do that weekly.
Then reboot by holding both the power and home buttons until the apple logo appears, ignore the red slider - I also do that weekly.
Both seem to help to reduce the low-memory faults that occur.

If it sounds like a RAM issue it could be one of the RAM chips has failed. You could try removing the RAM one at a time and see if it starts with one still installed.

Which OS X is installed on your Mac ?
Click the Apple () menu top left in your screen. From the drop down menu click About This Mac. The version is noted there.

I tried that with no improvement. I think I might have to have the fans replaced. do you know if this is a particularly difficult procedure? Something wierd that I've noticed is that if I have a video on for more than several minutes, the fans comes on, and also when I am on a Skype video conference for awhile. Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new). Try each of these steps in order until the issue is resolved.
Replacing or even suggesting replacing hardware without doing basic troubleshooting first is not very smart.
If basic troubleshooting does not resolve, take it to Apple for evaluation. There is no obligation to pay for anything, the evaluation is free.
