N275GTX Lightning Core Voltage Range

Hi, I am using the MSI Utility Afterburner to overclock my N275GTX Lightning 1792MB card.
One of the options is to increase the core gpu voltage by an offset of 0 - 200 mV.
GPU-Z says that the VDDC voltage of the card is 1.0500 and so a max OC would take that up to 1.250.
What I cannot find anywhere is the documented voltage range for my video card. I do not want to increase the voltage beyond what it can handle.
Can anyone please tell me the voltage range of my card?

    I recently bought a brand new gaming PC, after years and years of being a notebook gamer.. So, i finally decided to play around with the overclock settings for my GPU
    I have the Z77 MPOWER Motherboard, and as for my GPU, I have the N680GTX Lightning. My system is running windows 7 x64. I use MSI Afterburner 2.3.1 for applying the overclocking, and Furmark for testing (instead of Kombuster)
    I'm all new to overclocking, so i started reading about it, and came across this review of the GPU:

    And they clearly figured out some nice overclocking settings for the GPU. Allthough, I didn't know if I should just change the settings to those levels right away, so i kept looking and found another post:

    So i started to slowly apply the overclocking to my Core Clock, and everything was well. I was able to get it to +70/80 before the drivers started to crash. Then i went ahead to start applying the Core Voltage overclocking (slowly increasing the Voltage a little bit at a time), i realized, that when i increase the Core Voltage (to ex. +12 or +25), nothing happens to "GPU voltage, V" in the monitor screen in Afterburner. It just stays at 1175'ish. When i increase the value and press "Apply", it drops to 1100 for like 1/4 of a second, and then goes up to 1175 again. And no matter how much i increase the Core Voltage, it just wont go higher than 1175. When i apply the overclock, GPU-Z also says that the "GPU Clock boost" still is at 1176 (Just like the Default Clock, so nothing has changed). Now, I did increase the Power Limit from 100 to 133%, and i checked "Unlock voltage control", "Unlock voltage monitoring" and "Force constant voltage"(allthough i don't really know what "Force constant voltage" does, but i have the same problem with applying the voltage overclock whether i have it checked or not). I also set the UAC settings to "disabled"(Never notify), as i did read somewhere that that could be the problem. Didn't help me though..
    Is anybody else experiencing the same problem? Or does anyone have any idea of what i do wrong? Hope somebody can help me!

    Hi, the easy answer is you need to use older 2.2.3 AB version as Nvidia forced MSI AB to lock out voltage tweaks .
    Now onto voltage monitoring, even if you use older AB the voltage will not show correctly in GPU-Z or AB, it will show 1.175 approx , but that is not including the offset added voltage because the PE/lightening models add voltage on top of reference regulator .
    SO just add offset to GPU-Z and should be close to right voltage .

  • MSI Afterburner Core Voltage = huh?

    So I just installed my GTX 580 Lightning and LOVE IT.  Afterburner is also very nice.
    What I can't figure out is the core voltage is measured like +1, +10, +100 etc but that really doesn't help me seeing what is safe for my card and where I should even start increasing it.  I am used to  0.9 or 1.2v measurements.

    Sorry I didn't specify.  I came from overclocking ASUS GTX 570 and increasing the voltage quite a bit.  But I was using ASUS SmartDoctor that showed the actual voltage.
    Since MSI Afterburner only has a +1 through plus +200 on the core voltage modifier, I didn't quite understand what that was.
    I was just wondering what the average GTX 580 Lightning overclocker was using for their voltage settings on a high OC.  I wanted to see how far I could push mine
    I got my GTX 570 to 930 core and 4500 memory which was insane....

  • Z68A-G43 No Core Voltage setting?

    Hi all
    Well my mobo was crashing all the time with my Q6600 @ 3.4ghz so I went ahead and got a Z68A-G43, i5 2500k and 8gb of 1600mhz G-Skill Ripjawx ram.
    I've noticed though....the BIOS has no setting to change core voltage, neither does MSI Control Centre or Click Bios in Windows. So...does this board have no setting for to change it I ask? I mean it may be low down in the range but £75 is a bit tall for budget board is it not? I've got a rock solid 4.5ghz overclock..I can't boot into Windows with 4.6ghz but if I use control centre I can get it solid in Windows at 4.6ghz @ an auto voltage of 1.386v (I mean I've literally thrown everything at it and its not choked).
    It would be nice to try and push for 4.7ghz if I could just give it a bit of Vcore myself! Cheers

    A solid OC of 4,5GHz on the budget Z68 offering ? Mere mortals would be over the moon to boast with such an OC, what is it, 30% ?  It's always that tiny bit extra we all want, and when we have it, sometimes we don't know what to do with it. 
    Most of us run our boards around that OC to maintain the full power saving feature. Sandy Bridge has this unwanted side effect, whenever you manually set the VCore, it will remain there, no matter what, even in idle.
    But you are welcome to check with MSI technical if it's even possible to introduce this via a BIOS change in the future. I doubt it. >>How to contact MSI.<<
    Believe me, the 2500K above 4,6GHz generates mostly heat and the gain in performance becomes insignificant.

  • MSI GTX 760 HAWK low overclocking/core voltage lock

    Hello, I bought the gtx 760 hawk and i tried to overclock it, but it's overclocking potential is very low. Furthermore if I change core voltage +12mV in afterburner nothing changes. Voltage is still stuck at 1.200. There's absolutely no difference. I use ver. 3.0.0 beta 14 of afterburner. Please help.

    That is what the card is guaranteed to prvide you with.
    Additionally, MSI provides voltage and clock adjustments to allow users to potentially OC it even more (no guarantee). Each individual sample will yield different results. We have users that had to RMA cards because they were unstable even at the guaranteed OC'ed speeds.

    Review sites receive cherry picked samples that have been pre-tested and the results are indicative of what the best of the range may do. All the manufacturers try and have their best samples reviewed for obvious reasons.

  • Core voltage stability on 865PE Neo2 PFS

    I've just installed one of the new P-series NEO-2 MOBO's. Nice piece of work, although it seems there is still some work left to be done. Definite problems (although not serious) in Core center (althoug other posts indicate this may be indiginous to core center itself..)
    More serious though is a reading of the processor core voltage.
    I'm using a Celery 2.6, OC'd to 3.25G, FSB 125. Had to raise core voltage to 1.6V to get there, lower voltage led to crashes as low as FSB 104...
    Recently, I looked at a scan of the core voltage (provided by Speedfan):
    The problem lies in the fact that during disk access and/or high processor load, the core voltage drops as much as 90 mV, bringing it back to its default setting (spikes in graph, longer drop was writing DVD, CPU benchmark has similar result).
    If it does this at 1.5V, I can understand the crashes.
    I get the impression this board could do MUCH better with more stable voltage regulation.
    Anyone seeing similar behaviour in other Neo2-boards? Am I missing a setting?(core-cell may be intervening) It's hard to imagine the PSU can't hack it.. 12V level is rock solid.
    System: MSI 865PE Neo2 PFS, Celeron 2.6G @ 3.25G (125 FSB)

    I'm not worrying. Just a bit surprised we all make a bug fuzz about overclocking, increasing core voltage by 25 mV at a time, and suddenly ignoring it all and "accepting" 70 mV drops if we need processing power...  
    If the voltage regulator would be more robust, it would be able to maintain the Vcore to (much?) higher power ratings.
    This board drops by roughly 70 mV, constituting 3 notches on the voltage setting tab.
    I went up to 1.6V, and what I actually get is 1.52.....  
    To have 1.6 available under all conditions, I'd need to set to 1.7 (yes, I've tried), which is over the top for "normal" overclocking (not to mention considerably higher temperatures).
    Anyway, I'd like to know what other boards are doing regarding Vcore stability. Anyone out there with additional data?
    Maybe a new target for modifications?  (if it's worth it...)

  • How can I programmatically change the voltage range settings in a DAQ Assistant

    Hi,
    First post here.  
    I need to be able to change the voltage range properties of a daqmx DAQ Assistant based on user input.  My hardware, an SCXI-1102C does not allow changing this property on a running task, so I'd like to either set the analog input voltage range before the DAQ Assistant activates, or pause the DAQ Assistant immediately after it starts, set the values and then resume.
    I don't know how to edit the task ahead of time because the DAQ assistant creates the task when it runs, and there is no task before that.
    In the attached picture, I have a conditional section, set to run only if the while loop iteration is 0.  I take the task from the Daq assistant, send it to a stop task vi, set the property, and then send the task on to the start task vi. I can watch it run with the debug light on, and everything seems to work correctly, but on the second (and all the other) iteration of the loop, I read out AI.Max and it seems like the DAQ Assistant has re set it back to 5V.  Can anyone see what is going wrong here?
    BTW, this is continuous acquisition and the code does not produce error messages when it runs.
    I did come across a similar question that someone posted here back in 2006, but his question was specifically aimed at a Labview API (VB, I think), and not an actual G solution.

    First, if you want to start getting beyond the basics with DAQ, you are going to have to stop using the DAQ assistant and do it with lower level DAQmx VI's.  There are hundreds of examples in the example finder.  You can even right click on the DAQ assistant and select open front panel.  That will create a subVI that you can open and see what is going on behind the scenes.  Do it.  I think you'll find the DAQ task is being recreated on each (though I'm not 100% of how the settings are established or maintained in each section of that subVI).
    The second problem is you have a bit of a race condition on iteration 0.  Those two DAQ property nodes are running at the same time.  So when you read the AI.Max, it may be happening before or after the AI.Max is set in your case structure.
    Third, make sure you wire up your error wires.

  • How do i read out the actual voltage range of the daq board as calculated by labview based on my input voltage range

    I am somewhat new to DAQ so I hope I describe this well enough, but I have encountered a requirement for my VI that I am not sure how to obtain from LabVIEW. It is my understanding that when using a DAQ board (I'm using a PCI-6034 E) you can specify the voltage range you expect from your measurements, and then the software calculates the actual voltage range it will be measuring to ensure that you get the best resolution in your range that you can given the voltage step size, etc. of the equipment. I know how to extract the voltage input that I enter into the virtual channel, but I was wondering how I can extract the actual voltage range that the hardwar
    e/software is using based on its own calculations from my input. Can anyone help me with this?

    If I understand correctly, you want to retrieve the actual gain value (and, therefore, usable input range) used by your DAQ card for a particular measurement.

  • Temperatures corresponding to voltage ranges with the PXI-4351/TC-2190

    Using a PXI-4351 and TC-2190 with a K-type thermocouple, what temperature range do the voltages (+/- 625 mV, 1.25 V, 2.5 V, 3.75 V, 7.5 V, and 15 V) correspond to? How much accuracy does each different range of voltages have? All I could find was that to get improved accuracy, use a range of 2.5 volts or less (document #1X0F7L3E). Also, will using several channels at vasly different temperatures (ie. room temp. and several hundred degrees) affect which range I should select?

    The full temperature range of a K type thermocouple from -270C to 1370C represents a voltage range from -6.45mV to 54.8mV. If the only sensors you are using are thermocouples then you should choose the smallest range. The 4351 applies one gain setting to all channels, so the only reason you would want to use anything but the smallest range would be if you have other types of sensors with larger voltage swings. You can find voltages for any thermocouple at any temperature at the link below.

  • MSI KT3V low maximum core voltage

    Hey guys
    I'm very angry,because my kt3v have max. core voltage at 1,7V.Where i can find unofficial or beta bios for higer voltages? 1,7V is too low for good overclocking. I use at xp 1700+ (t-bred) and i have stable only 171 x 11.5.I heard that this cpu can run at higer speeds than 1974 mhz.
    Where i can find any solution for this voltage?

    I had the same problem.  Not enough voltage to get my 1700+ past 1907 without stability issues.  I used a defogger kit and closed all the L11 bridges on the processor which basically set the default voltage for the CPU at 1.85.  Now when I go in to BIOS, the voltage is already set to 1.85, which I think is the max on most newer MSI boards.  I never found a beta BIOS anywhere that got around that +/- .1 volt thing.  There are also some guides out there about modifying the processor socket with small wires to jumper different pins together to alter the Vcore, but I didn't want to risk putting the wires in the wrong holes...heh.  I only had to close 2 L11 bridges on my processor to get the default Vcore to 1.85 and they weren't that close together so it only took about 5 minutes to do it and it works like a champ.  Good luck!

  • PXI-5105 Minimum Voltage Range

    Hi,
    I searched the forums for this question but did not get a concrete answer.  I'm using a Kulite ITQ-1000 pressure transducer attached to a RDP signal conditioner/amplifier which is then fed into the PXI-5105.  The signal has been set so that the maximum rated pressure outputs +10V from the RDP unit.  My question is regarding the minimum voltage level...  I noticed on the specifications for the 5105 that there is a "Minimum Voltage Range" of -25mV,25mV.  Does this mean that the minimum voltage input that should be fed into the 5105 should be no less than, in my case of only positive voltage, 25mV?

    Well after reading up on useful info on the forum and grabbing some nifty item's I tried CPU-Z and notices my Core Voltage fluxes from 1.080 v ~ 1.112~1.232 off and on ... is this normal or some thing I need to worry about?
    also NB Frequency @ 2812.9~28214.4 Mhz , Dram Freq - 703.2~703.5 Mhz

    The fluctuations in CPU-Z are not all that uncommon. Many times, it is caused by the action of the power saving features in the system.

    hey,
    i just got my new z97 g45. is it possible to set the core voltage to a fixed value? im using a dark rock advanced c1 and my core temps are in idle mode around 40 °C. seems kinda high to me so id try to lower the cpu core voltage. (i got 2 sysfans and the temperature in the case are about 25 to 30 °C.)
    if its possible where and how can i change that?

    70 °C with aftermarket cooler?  Either you got bad CPU (with bad thermal solution between the chip and lid itself) or the cooler is completely screwed..
    1.25V is quite a lot. For my i5 4670 on 3.6GHz I use fixed 1.050V and it's all good and pretty cool, though it also was getting around 1.15 (or above, can't remember) on default settings.
    So what you can do is set 3.8GHz fixed on your CPU, run Intel Burn Test together with CPU-Z and see the max V you get then. And for example if you get around 1.15V, try to use 1.08V. If all good (Intel Burn Test it then), try even lower 1.07V until you reach the point where it will BSOD (I believe) or not boot properly.
    But getting the right cooler is the most important and you shouldn't be hitting these temps with aftermarket one.
