Can you list PSU details, look for them over PSU sticker.
This VGA needs at least 40A at +12V

    Hi guys,
This is my first post, please let me know if you need any more info.
I just got this card (Geforce GTX 280) from MSI to replace my MSI NX8800Ultra-T2D768E-HD-OC GeForce 8800Ultra 768MB that I RMA'd.  It works fine in games like Quake 3, QuakeLive, and Quake 4, but doesn't work in games like Call of Duty 4, Call of Duty World at War, Stalker clear sky, Counterstrike Source, and FarCry2.  It keeps flickering, flashing, blinking squares,  and then freezes. All games are patch'd to latest versions.   I'd appreciate some help on this issue.  Thanks in advance.
I've tried these drivers from Nvidia and all had same response:

  • MSI N280GTX-T2D1G OC Not Pre Overclocked

Hi, I bought the MSI N280GTX-T2D1G OC with a pre overclock of 650mhz.  But Nvidia and another video card monitoring program only rates this card at the standard 602 mhz.  Whats wrong?  Is there anyway to fix this or do I have to RMA this card?

    I used RivaTuner, GPU-Z and Nvidia's software.
But do you think they just put the wrong card in the box?  My UPC bar code, which is out for rebate said N280GTX-T2D1G OC, Is there a name or serial code on the card itself before i pop my case open and check.
    Memory is 1107mhz

  • N280GTX OC HydroGen - The monster without limits

World highest clock GTX 280 and slimmest micro channel water cooling
MSI readies its latest N280GTX OC HydroGen and SuperOC graphics card
MSI, Taipei, Taiwan - MSI, a leading manufacturer of computer products, proudly unveils its latest N200 series graphics card with highest clock setting and micro channel water cooling solution. After gaining its recognition as the most innovative design in COMPUTEX 2008, MSI started its research on micro-channel water cooling design to phase it in its most high-end N280GTX series graphics card, the MSI N280GTX OC HydroGen. Moreover, MSI also tunes up the clock settings of the original fan cooling N280GTX series and makes MSI N280GTX-T2D1G Super OC the highest clocked GeForce® GTX 200 series in the world.
10℃ Lower than GeForce® GTX 200 fan thermal solution
Via the massive contact surface increase brought by micro channel technology, MSI N280GTX OC HydroGen series successfully runs the world highest core clock setting at 700MHz, but surprisingly has 10℃ lower temperature level than normal fan cooling GeForce® GTX 200 series even at full workload.
Another amazing thing is that MSI achieves this with only 1-slot thick HydroGen micro channel water cooling tank. This makes a multiple graphics setup in single system possible, even with all the water cooling accessories together.
    1-Slot ultra slim tank design
17% higher than standard version of N280GTX series
With the highest core clock over-clocked, both MSI N280GTX OC HydroGen and N280GTX-T2D1G SuperOC enjoy a net 17% performance boost compared to standard GeForce® GTX 200 series. Even with the previous MSI over-clocked N280GTX-T2D1G-OC against the Super OC or N280GTX OC HydroGen, the latter ones still have a 7% leading headroom in performance.

  • NGTX280-OC problem

    Hi all
    yesterday i got my N280GTX-T2D1G-OC.
    this is my system now:
    MB: Asus SFII
    Proc: [email protected] (100% stable) (FSB 1600 - 8x)
    RAM: 2G cordair dominator @1066
    GC: N280GTX-T2D1G-OC
    Power: Corsair Hx520 (modular)
    WXP 32bit
I install everything using the DVD driver.
But when i check with everest or some nvdia tool, the GPU freq, it show every time 300Mhz  (instead of 650) and 100Mhz  :shocking:for  the memory (instead of 1150).
Also when i start any king of game i got the RUNDLL 32 error.
I format the PC and i got the same issue.
    Can somebody help me?
    Thx lots
    Dennis

I've got this card and can tell you your readings are normal. I'm actually quite surprised no-one has told you this, but the N280GTX-T2D1G-OC actually powers down when it's not being used for gaming or graphic intense programs. I downloaded evga precision tool and it says my card is running at:
    Core clock = 301Mhz
    Shader clock = 602Mhz
    Memory clock = 100Mhz
This is in windows XP Pro service pack 3, but with PC idle. When i go to display properties and click on VGA Clock Tab it shows the cards proper settings or maximum settings which are:
    Core clock = 650Mhz
    Shader clock = 1300Mhz
    Memory clock = 2300Mhz
I left evga precision tool running when playing games and the graphs for all these settings did go higher. So there is nothing wrong with your card, just remember when it's not using intense graphics the card will power down to save power consumption.
Your RUNDLL error is caused by a corrupt RUNDLL file on your PC here is link that should help fix it.

I've build up my system this weekend and everything is powering up nicely with no beeps, CPU running at a good temp, drives are detected in BIOS. However my system at some points contantly freezes or restarts. I use Vista x64. I experience similar results with clean version of XP in x86 & x64 versions. I've tested the GPU, PSU, & HDD and everything works fine but I'm still worried it may be a hardware problem of sorts. I've updated BIOS, clear CMOS a few times, but system still freezes.

so what's the difference in temp when you swap them compared to before swapping?
    ok..
    VGA 1 :
    Idle:
    Gpu temperature 67c
    DispIO temperature 69c
    MemIO temperature 86c
    Shadercore temperature 72c
    fan 54%
    load:
    Gpu temperature 82c
    DispIO temperature 78c
    MemIO temperature 108c
    Shadercore temperature 86c
    fan 100%
    VGA 2 :
ran cooler than vga1 by 5 degrees at idle
and by 20 degrees at load
    That's the temps after swapping
Before swapping vga1 was cooler than itself by 5~6 degrees and vga2 was warmer than itself by 3 degrees thus the swapping didn't help..
i'm very confused about MemIO temperatures , it's much high idle & load

  • Is your computer overheating?

My computer went down the other day, simply a black screen, no warning, no messages, just black. After a lot of messing around and diagnostics it turns out my computer was overheating.
An overheating or border line overheating machine can result in lock ups, slow downs, and unexpected reboots. To find out if your CPU is too hot you'll need the "hardware monitor" that comes with your motherboard. There are also plenty of third party programs which you can run.
The next question is "how hot is too hot?". Intel CPUs display one of two numbers... an absolute temperature ~or~ a thermal margin. The first is self explanatory but the second can seem confusing. The Margin indicates how many degrees remain before the CPU is critically hot. So the bigger the margin the safer you are.
Remember that modern computers conserve energy when idling, so run you most intensive application for 30-60 minutes and keep and eye on your temperatures. Conventional wisdom indicates you want your mobo and CPU less than 60°C (140F). Any higher and damage to one or the other may result. Intel has specific details on each CPU including its thermal maximum on this page, click here. Most modern CPUs give you a thermal margin which removes the guess work.
Tip... if your hard drives are too hot to keep your hand on for any period of time then you have excessive heat build up. Ensure hard drives have one drive bay gap between it and anything above it. Or use a case with hard drive cooling fans (see below).
If your board and/or CPU are running too hot you should consider a well ventilated case. I am now using the Antec 900 (click here) which has four over sized fans plus the fan in your PSU making five total. The 120mm BIG BOY (their words not mine) is placed directly above the CPU keeping it super cool.
Hopefully these tips will help those users experiencing weird hang ups and crashes.
Tip... if your temperature is good but file access is slow and you get lots of blue screens then there may be a chance your hard drive is about to fail. Make sure to run a check disc or similar application. And always make frequent backups!
Original Post on my Blog: http://gmckinney.blogspot.com/2008/09/is-your-computer-overheating.html

    >Gordon McKinney:To find out if your CPU is too hot you'll need the "hardware monitor" that comes with your motherboard.
I use the Intel supplied monitor (in the Intel Desktop Utilities) on my DG965WH motherboard with a Q6600 CPU and 8GB RAM, but I've found a problem when using it in Vista Ultimate 64.
Apparently the monitoring functions interrupt the mouse hardware (maybe all hardware for all I know) and cause random and temporary mouse pointer freezes that can last for a random amount of time--averaging around a second. The mouse pointer will catch up, but the interruptions really create havoc when using any mouse oriented program--particular LR2.1 and local corrections.
My solution is to run the Intel Desktop Utilities when I wish to check the temperatures--only a couple of times a day as I've never found them to be within 20 degrees (C) of a danger point--and then immediately kill iptray.exe.
Intel doesn't say IDU works in 64 bit OS versions, but I get the same readings with it in Vista 64 as I do in XP SP2. However, it doesn't have the mouse freeze problem in XP so I could leave it in a monitoring state.

  • K7N2 Delta Overheating

I have the K7N2 Delta board (rest of system specs are in sig) and after about 45mins-1 hour of gaming, my system locks up and resets.  After lock up, if i go into bios, my sys temps usually read about 59-64 degrees celcuis.  I was having this problem with the stock fan/hs, so i bought the Volcano 12, figuring that would solve the problem.  Didn't, only gave me about 1hr-1 1/2 hours before lock up at lowest RPM setting (2100), and only about 10-15 mins longer at highest RPM setting (about 5600).  I have the same problem when I run 3d 2003 test, it goes through the first set of tests fine, but when I get to the first CPU test, my system locks.
My idle temps on the CPU are about 45-52 degrees celcius, case temp is in about 38 celcius.  I read in other posts that it could be due to TOO MUCH thermal goo on the chip, but how do I know how much is too much?
Aside from overheating, what else might it be?
If I leave my system idle, it can go for days with no hint of a problem.  It's only when I start gaming (America's Army, UT 2k4 demo, BF1942) that I get problems.
Also, I ran memtest, RAM is fine.

Wonkanoby:  Ya, I know I need new RAM, but I'm on an incredibly tight budget now, so it's gonna be a while till I can afford some (basically, I haven't had a job in 8mths).
DeathStalker:  I tired what you said, opened up the side of my case, put a Vornado house fan on high speed facing my mobo, and the temps did drop quite a bit (with HS/fan @5600 RPM and idle CPU=41celcius, Sys=28celcius.  @2100RPM and idle CPU=44celcius, Sys=34celcius).  I decided to run the 3dMark2003 this way, with HS/fan @5600 RPMs, and I got through the first CPU test, but then they system crashed again.
So it seems that the extra cooling helped, but still wasn't enough.
Any suggestions on how to cool my system with out putting a house fan in there?  I already have 3 80mm fans (1 front bottom intake.  1 top exhaust, 1 rear exhaust).  I have room for 2 more 80mm fans (1 front bottom intake, 1 rear exhaust), but I don't think that would help cool the CPU all that much, would it?  I thought the TT Volcano 12 would help with cooling a lot, but it has only provided marginal imporvements.
Also, could it be that I am overstressing my RAM, and that is why I'm having these problems?
    Open to any suggestions.

  • Satellite A505-S6973 overheating and fan works often

I hate doing this but I seem to have encountered another problem which i have been searching and reading with the hopes of correcting myself. I presently own a Satellite series laptop with an Intel Cor 2 Duo T6500 2.1Ghz processor.
I 've been monitoring my system for performance issues andi've noticed that for sometime (unsure when) the temperature on my system has risen significantly. I'm seeing from my PC Health Monitor that my processors temperature is running at 59% and fan speed is at 78% yet when I place my hand near the cooling fins at the side of my laptop I can barely feel any breeze but a co-worker of mine has a vostro and the fan feels like it's running on NOs.
If there is anything that can be done I'd greatly appreciate this, i'm afraid of loosing my system due to something simple that cause overheating.
N.B. I noticed that at one time different users posted threads stating that after updating there BIOS they experienced overheating problems. If this is the cause of anywhere near it please help.

Are you sure that your notebook is overheating?
In my opinion you cant compare this with other notebook models because every notebook has its own cooling modules and fans and there are not standard parts as on desktop computers. Furthermore its also important which form factor your notebook has. Larger and bigger notebooks have a better cooling assembly as smaller ones.
Anyway, in my opinion you could try cleaning your notebook using compressed air spray. This should always be done from time to time to blow out the dust from the cooling ventilators. Therefore its not necessary to disassemble the notebook.
    Check this!!!

  • White Macbook (2008) overheating and shutting down

    Hello,
I have a white macbook from about 2008 (it is not unibody, it's the one you can remove the battery). My case has cracked all around and little pieces of the plastic have flaked away (as seen on all other 1 year+ macs of this generation). I figure this helps the heat escape rather than make the problem worse but I still plan to get the case fixed on with applecare.
My problem is that sometimes when running only iTunes and safari my CPU heats up to 90 degrees celcius (194 F) and my computer simply shuts off. I don't have the clear plastic covering vents and I just use my mac on my desk, not on a pillow or anything like that. When my computer heats up like that, the fan is rotating at about 6200+ RPM according to SMC fancontrol. Right now my computer is propped up using a large eraser to create a space for air to circulated along the bottom of the case.
What can I do to keep my Macbook from overheating? I don't want to damage my computer. I don't really do much video or real intense stuff, mainly just music.
    Any help is appreciated.

Open Activity Monitor in the Utilities folder.  Select All Processes from the Processes dropdown menu.  Click twice on the CPU% column header to display in descending order.  If you find a process using a large amount of CPU time (>=70,) then select the process and click on the Quit icon in the toolbar.  Click on the Force Quit button to kill the process.  See if that helps.  Be sure to note the name of the runaway process so you can track down the cause of the problem.

  • Satellite P300D-10V is overheating

    Hi everyone
I am using Toshiba p300 d-10v laptop till one year. After one month I've bought this notebook, I had some problems with it. For those problems I'vee sent my laptop to the service twice in three months.
First problem was it is overheating and closes the system. Second problem was about the ATI Graphic card. For those two problems the service person told that they did not see any problem and they sent it back. I am not going to sent it to this service in Turkey again.
I want some suggestions to find a solution for me.
As I heard from internet about this problem there are many users in Turkey having the same problem at that model of notebook. I can only use %70 percent of processor so if it goes up than it shuts the system, why I should use less than %70 percent of the capacity. If I knew this I would buy another model notebook. There was no any information about this model of notebook when I bought this model.
    Cheers
    Tolga

    Hi mate
I dont understand how you can use only 70% of the CPU performance.
Usually the CPU supports the AMD PowerNow Technology which allows you to use the CPU in Automatic mode.
In Automatic mode, the speed and voltage are controlled dynamically and automatically. It depends on the application how fast the CPU would run.
In Automatic mode, the needs of the application environment dictate the amount of performance required and power used.
This mode of operation ensures that only the required amount of power is dissipated.
Simply said if the application doesnt need the full CPU performance then the CPU will not run always with 100% and will not create high heat dissipation.
But the notebook could overheat if you would use non-Toshiba graphic drivers.
The drivers which are not certified by Toshiba dont support the overheating protection and the usage of such drivers could lead to a overheating. Therefore you should use always the Toshiba drivers because such drivers are designed especially for the notebooks graphic cards. Drivers from ATI page are created only for desktop PCs.
Finally its strongly recommended to use the notebook on the table and to ensure that there is enough free space around the notebook to ensure a good air circulation.
Especially in countries or regions (i.e Turkey, Africa ) where the temperature is higher its really important that the notebook would be cooled properly.

My laptop was losing charge EXTREMELY quickly, I would charge the laptop to 100%, and just an hour later (after not using it, but the lid closed and it was sleeping) it would be up to 60% charge, then when not in sleep and on, it would lose energy extremely quickly. I always make sure that unecessary background apps are not running--so that was not the problem. This problem went away after a week, but it was the first signal that something was wrong with my laptop.
Next, the laptop was having problems with waking up from sleep, I did an SMC reset and this problem was fixed.
After that, the laptop started glitching (static and banded lines on the bottom of the screen) and making this clicking noise when I was streaming video fullscreen on Netflix. I thought at first, that this was a problem with Silverlight, and reinstalled the silverlight plugin (several times). Then I noticed that the computer would glitch when I was streaming full screen on Netflix and picked up the laptop (moved it from a flat surface). This signaled to me that the problem was perhaps not software, but a hardware issue. I verified the disk and did a permissions report and neither were curative.
Further support that the problems are with hardware rather than hardware came to me when my computer presented itself with a fourth issue: the laptop, when being lifted or moved from a static surface, would sometimes freeze entirely and make the same clicking noise. This problem was not during fullscreen streaming, but had spread to when I was simply using more than one app at the same time (e.g. having Chrome and Word open together). When this happenend, the only solution would be to power down the computer and restart.
Finally, while sleeping with the lid closed in my backpack, I hear a whirring noise--I pick up the laptop and it was hot to the touch, overheating with the fans running on high speed.
I have no clue what is going on. I have taken the computer to my university's mac shop and they have suggested it is a logic board issue and I should give the computer in. I have scoured the forum for an answer of what is happening and am determined to find one. So I pose the problem to you--any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
