N560GTX Twin Frozr II driver crashes

So, the first one of these cards couldn't stay in windows and would crash because Aero, the windows 7 theme, was too intense for it. So, I RMA'd it and I received my current one, which might actually be the same one but I'm not sure. I thought all was copacetic but I was wrong. All is fine until about 6 hours to 4 days after a reboot, then the drivers crash and refuse to run anything 3d. This is easily resolved by shutting down the PC and letting sit for about 15 seconds then rebooting; also, the issue occurs more often if I play games.
What I've tried - result:
Rebooting - Problem reoccurs
Updating drivers - Problem isn't resolved
Using a different computer with no similar parts - still occurs
Checked the wattage and draw of my power supply with a multimeter - Power supply isn't tax on either system
Reseating the video card - still issues

have you used >>Driver Sweeper<< to remove VGA drivers in "Safe Mode",
before installing the new one?
It was a brand new install of windows 7 on the most recent occasion and i used driver sweeper on the old pc. It doesn't seem to matter what driver i use, how i uninstall it, how i clean up after it, whether its a fresh install of windows 7 or an old one no matter what i'm stuck with this annoying issue.

try latest patch for this game, reintall the game, try different vga drivers.

  • N560GTX Twin Frozr II/oc driver crashes

Hi, I have the graphic card, N560GTX Twin Frozr II/OC (S/N: 602-V238-50SB1203007629), about two years ago now, is the second time that I have to contact you, because the graphics card drivers fails continuously ... The first time we were able to fix, but that solution is lost in the email from my partner, so here again I have to contact for same situation ... the graphics card will have at most 5 months of use, after that was kept hermetically in its box
I've tried updated drivers, lower values 822 / / 2004 (core clk / clk memory), or to his default 870/2040, with the MSI Afterburner, i have a Cooler Master 700W PSU, and I've tried it on another system with characteristics similar to mine, and the result is the same ...
I try an installation from 0, use the driver sweeper too, but nothing worked
So here I turn to you, to see if we can solve the problem ...
from now thank you very much
P.d: sorry for my English, I'm from Argentina
    My system:
    Phenom II x4 945
    GA 970A-UD3
    Kingston 4GB DDR3 Hyperx
    Cooler Master 700W PSU
p.d: drivers was downloaded from msi site and nvidia site...

Well maybe it's driver or I don't know.
But for sure, that I know is this:
    1. Was running W7 x32 with latest drivers (or if newer appeared last 1-2 days, I was using former), there was no driver recovery.
    2. Now running W7 x64 with 275.33, because latest(as said above), gave me that recovery problem.
    3. My friend uses some ASUS GT430(or GTX), also on W7 x64 with latest, also gives him recovery. 275.33 gave him none.
That is why I suspect on drivers when go sudden downclock (adaptive mode in nV CP). As I've noticed from GTX 560 Ti HWK(non-oc model), that clock from 822(850 I oc'd a bit) suddenly go to 50. Memory also, but forgot to how much.
Maybe this sudden downclock (less voltage/amp drain) triggers something in windows (the famous...forgot wat is called - also on Vista) that crashes driver. Or BSOD if that "Windows feature" is disabled.

  • N560GTX Twin Frozr II/OC not recognized by Afterburner

    Hey.
I've just bought this card (MSI N560GTX Twin Frozr II/OC), installed the latest NVIDIA drivers, 295.73, and after setting everything up correctly, decided to give it a shot on overclocking.
So I downloaded and installed Afterburner/Kombustor, but then I realized this: Afterburner does not recognize my card as a MSI card, it just says GeForce GTX 560. I also cannot change voltages (possibly because of this?)
So my question is... Is it possible for me to unlock voltages? Do I really need to use MSI's drivers? They look like NVIDIA ones but zipped, no difference, but I haven't tested. I also couldn't find any BIOS files for this card. If needed, this is my current BIOS exported by GPU-Z 0.5.9: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1001069/GF114.bin
    Thanks in advance.

       >> Latest Afterburner <<
       >> nVidia Drivers <<
For what it's worth, I still use 275.33 drivers and haven't had any problems or reason to use any thing later. If you don't have any problems with the drivers you're using then don't worry about it.

  • Newbie at O/Cing N560GTX Twin Frozr II 1GB and need help

I just finished dealing with corruption issues on my new N560GTX Twin Frozr II 1GB.  I want to try to play with the O/C setting.  What is a good place to start in terms of Core Clock and Voltage?  I already downloaded Kombustor.
    CPU: Intel i7 960 (3.2GHz)
    Motherboard: Gigabyte X58A-UD3R Socket 1366
    Memory brand: Kingston Hyper X DDR3 1600 6GB
    Hardrive: Western Digital 1TB SATA 7200RPM @ 6GB/sec
    Soundcard: Onboard
    OS: Windows 7 Home
    Power supply: Thermaltake 750W

For my Gold Edition I have my core voltage at 1050 for 1005 core clock OC. I have not run Furmark, Kombustor or any such benchmark/stress test on it with those settings and it probably wouldn't pass any of those tests. If I were to raise my core voltage to 1125 it would probably pass those test but I don't need my voltage that high for what I use the card for.
Test your card with core voltage at 1050, core clock at 900. You already know how long your old card would go before it crapped out so make sure you give it a good test at least twice as long as the old card would go. You can leave core voltage at 1050 and raise core clock 10 at a time and give it a good test each time. Test that way until it craps out and then start raising core voltage a little at a time until it's stable again. Basically it's a simple time consuming affair, raise the values a bit at a time and test. Keep your eye on the temperature as you go along but that should not be a problem on any Twin Frozr/Twin Frozr ll VGA card. Mine never went over 72-73C even with 1150V & 1030 core clock 99% load running folding@home. Power use sure goes way up when running that high though.

  • MSI R6870 Twin Frozr II Random Crashes

    Hello,
I have had an MSI R6870 Twin Frozr II video card for the past year, and it has been operating without problems for most of that time. I have been slowly upgrading my computer over past 5 years, but keeping the same motherboard and CPU. A few months ago I started having issues with it:
While playing video games or browsing the internet the video drivers crash and recover after a few seconds at random times, approximately once every half an hour. 30% of the time, the card crashes and doesn't recover at all, with a black screen, prompting a restart of the system.
Last month I have rebuilt my PC: kept the same the video card, 750W power supply (both 1 year old) and all my hard drives. I reinstalled the same version of Windows 7. I made sure to take precautions against static in the process. However the problem persists.
Because I have my power button set to a restart, I am able to have the computer perform a soft reboot every time when the screen goes black, rather than forcing a hard reset, so to me this means the new CPU, Motherboard and RAM are working OK. Also on occasion switching my monitor cable between the two DVI outputs brings the image back.
Here are some of the other things I have tried so far unsuccessfully:
Updating the motherboard and bios drivers to the latest version
Using a tool to delete and reinstall latest ATI drivers (12.9)
    Using ATI beta drivers (12.11b)
Using both windows and 3rd party memory check tools (both came back OK)
Changing RAM settings from 1600 to 1333.
Underclocking the video card (although it runs pretty cold and I have a dedicated fan installed right underneath it).
I will welcome any other suggestions.
    Thank you in advance,

Here is an update on my situation:
I went out a bought a new PSU, Antec HCG-620M, but the problem didn't go away. I'm still trying to keep up with the latest drivers. However most games that require high performance (i.e. Witcher 2 out of the older, more stable games) remain unplayable due to fairly regular random video card crashes. Older games with lower specs play fine though. I have also been running SpeedFan in the background and have seen an occasional spikes in the video card's operating temperatures (as high as 81C) but crashes occur at any temperature.
    Help would still be appreciated.
    Thanks,

  • N570GTX Twin Frozr II/OC crashing computer

Hi, I have a N570GTX Twin Frozr II/OC constantly crashing my computer when gaming. (Shogun 2, SR3...)
I have Upgraded the bios to 2.22 and cleaned the fans/heat spreader from dust.
The gpu-temp is below 70C when the card crashes so I don't think there is a heat problem.
The computer can run prime95 without problems and with another graphics card the computer seems stable.
Is there any known problems with this card? Volt too low or something like that? Any new bios?
Computer specs: Everything running at default clock.
Mobo: ASUS P8P67 PRO, BIOS 3207
    CPU: Intel i5-2500K
Memory: 2x4GB Corsair Vengeance memory 1600Mhz
PSU: Cooler Master Silent Pro 600W 80+ Gold

I have tried the card in two different machines and with numerous versions of drivers from Nvidia. Right now I'm using 301.24 BETA drivers but the drivers doesn't seem to matter.
I have tried to run with the fan at 70%, GPU temp around 50C still crashes.
So the board is just broken. Didn't last a year.

@SVet, I can do that if I get any issue. Just installed the card on a new machine and was thinking preventitive. I had heard that the N580GTX/OC had stabilitiy issues that required bios upgrades. Before I start crashing my machine, I was hoping to just go with a bios change that has worked for someone else.
It can't be used as each VGA is unique and require custom attention if issue occur.

The card came overclocked from factory. I decreased the clocks to the Nvidia default. The core clock to 772, Shader clock to 1544 and Memory clock to 2004. I also increased the core voltage to 1038.
The idle temperature is 38 C and at full load it goes to 82 C maximum.

I work as a computer tech the last 6 years in a developing company.
A MSI video card came as RMA, but i believe that the customer did flash the card intentionaly because warranty is about to expire.
Judging by the symptoms, it seems as the card has been flashed as it creates lines all over the screen.
From what i read at the label located at the back we have,
Model : N560 Twin Frozr II/OC (its not the Ti version)
    S/N     : 602-V238-240B1109030186
Could you please send me the vbios for this Video card ?

yes you have to rename it to .rom or .bin else nvflash will refuse to flash it

  • 560GTX TI Twin Frozr II constantly crashing my pc.

    Hi,
I've read a lot of very similar posts to my problem. I bought the 560gtx-ti on 20/04/2012 and instantly ran into problems. Basically my screen goes blank for a few seconds and reappears with a message about display driver thats stopped responding. this can happen any time, even if nothing is open and it's just the desktop on the screen. it happens every minute or so if i watch any videos.
I'm currently using the lastest nvidia drivers, i have tried the msi drivers but the problem is still the same.
I borrowed a friends PSU and that didn't make any difference either.
I did a fresh install of windows 7 64 bit and the problems still exist.
I previously had an nvidia 9800gtx+ that i used for years without a single issue like this.
It's happened as I've been typing this too:
from the research i've carried out, it seems like it definitely is the new card.
i live in the uk, i'm assuming the best course of action is to rma it, but how do i do that?
    thanks.
edit: oh, the serial number is 602-v238-35SB1202004486.
i haven't overclocked it at all, everything is at factory settings:

Ok, let's back up. This is called a TDR and I will use this phrase a number of times. These can be caused by a number of things. Insufficient power, bad system ram, and nvidia drivers are the three main causes.
The truth is, these "cards" are plagued with TDR issues and more recently so-called pink screens of death. However, these all seem to be driver related. If your card is fine for the most part at full speed, for example gaming, then the chances are it is the mysterious ailment. Gaming problems are pretty much only hardware related.
Try reverting to driver version 275.33. These should be free from desktop/idle/browsing TDR problems. They should also be free from pink screens of death/youtube crashes.
I've had a great deal of experience with this issue over the past year unfortunately and it pretty much comes down to this:
275.33 and earlier drivers should be TDR free. If you have issues with these drivers it is pretty much guaranteed to be a hardware issue, either the card or your psu, or your system ram or etc.
All of the 28x.xx branch of drivers up until 290.36 will cause TDRs IF YOU ARE mysteriously affected by the problem. The solitary exception to this is possibly the 285.95 driver, however this was provided to a couple of other users of the Nvidia user-to-user forums only. However, the fix in this driver was included in the following release, which was 290.53. HOWEVER. 290.53 split users of 560ti cards into two categories, one of which for whom the issues were fixed and one for whom the issues became worse. It may be worth trying 290.53
295.51 beta release has a memory leak. If you watch videos using certain decoding methods, your system will come to a crawl until you reboot or install different drivers.
295.73 whql - hmm, this might be a decent version. Though it will depend which TDR camp you fall into on the 280 branch.
296.10 whql - this is the driver that introduced me to the pink screen of death. I only saw it once in the month or so I used this driver. I am aware other people complained of it in earlier drivers. I am also aware that other people suffer this problem much more frequently
301.24 has clock speed errors. I found my card's core got stuck at 203mhz which isn't even a valid option from a choice of 51/405/880.
TL;DR: See if you are issue free on 275.33
If you are curious or want to discard my suggestion since this might seem a little bizarre:
Original 66 page thread on the Nvidia forum which covers all of the above:
    http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=215256
Current ongoing thread (where the nvidia rep OP specifically asks you to confirm you are TDR free on 275.33 before submitting bug reports/dump files):
    http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=223716
The memory leak confirmed by multiple users/Nvidia rep:
    http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=222342
The clock speed issue on 301.24:
Well, google "nvidia 301.24 clock speed" and all over the place. I've stopped following the abortion that is Nvidia drivers and reverted to 275.33 since I know they are free of these issues and I can concentrate on my own separate problem. If you are not free from issues on a clean install of 275.33 I would honestly start concentrating specifically on hardware.
