N6030 Searching for contact by name to send messag...

I used to be able to search for the contact by name to send a message. Now a 123 icon appears top left and the keypad only accepts numbers for the search. Any ideas about how to turn it back to letters? Thanks in anticipation for your help.

Too bad. On S60 based phones it switches between numeric (123) and text (Abc) entry formats in the To: field of the message editor.

  • How can i search for multiple file names (images) in bridge?

    Hello everyone!
Does anyone know how to search for multiple file names in bridge?
    That is to copy & paste something like this: _MG_2152, _MG_2177, _MG_2194, _MG_2195, _MG_2202, _MG_2212, _MG_2219, _MG_2261, _MG_2362, _MG_2401
Not using several criterias in the search box that is. That takes too long.

  • Searching for a file name?

    Hey Guys,
Is there a way to fine the name of a text file? For example, I have 3 files 1235.txt, 2568.txt, and 2568.txt. I need to find one of these files and write user info into each one and then update the file with current user info.
I was just wonder if there is anyway you could search for a file name?
The reason I need to do this is because I want to store user details into seperate files, because I don't really want to use a random access file and using one file for all the users seems alot harder, when finding a file users info...
    Thanks Guys,

How does my spouse get the benefits of using my iCloud for contacts and calanders but not messages, etc?

iCloud is designed for personal use and not for managing multiple access.  If you gives your password to someone else, this person can benefit everything including access to purchase with your account, email, etc.
You should rather consider having each one an iCloud account and then, create and share a calendar.  As for contact, you can send them to your spouse to be save in her account but they cannot be shared nor synced.

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

  • Searching for contacts quickly... What a pain!

Don't get me wrong... I love the whole touch pad thing.
Its so easy to browse for contacts entered.
However, when you sync to corporate exchange environment and get over 3000 contacts its becomes a pain to search for a number when you are trying to dial.
Unlike Blackberry, I hope apple is able to implement afeature that you can start entering (typing) a name and it narrows your search based on the letter you type.
That is unless its already there and i can't find it.
    Any takers?

That's not what this thread is asking about. The letters on the side are helpful ONLY if you know the "sort-by" name of the person you are looking for. If you're sorting by last name, but only know their first name, the "starts with letter" list is unhelpful.
As I posted in another thread:
Right now, I've sorted my Phone contacts by last name. Suppose I want to call "Michael" but I don't know his last name. In Mac OS X (along with the really good smartphones), I would typically be able to enter his first name and have all the Micahels in my contacts list show up. Not only that, I'd also get search results for anyone who worked for a company called "Michael", or even someone who had "Michael" in their notes field (perhaps I'm looking for "Michael's Secretary"?)
I suggest that everyone go to http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html and submit a request for CONTACT SEARCH in the phone app!
If you notice the letters on the right, just tap the
letter of the contact name and it takes you to that
    letter...

  • Spotlight bringing up alpha numeric codes for contacts, not names

When I do a spotlight search on names, spotlight brings up long alpha numeric codes instead of the actual names of my contacts. If I click on the code, I am taken to the address book record of the contact.
    Strange...
    One code is:
    4CDBA0BE-853D-11D9-9F1A-000D932E2424:ABPerson.abcdp
Anyone have an idea what this means and how to fix this?

Hi, get_jr. Welcome to the Discussions.
I presume you mean you are doing a Find (Finder > Command-F) search for:
Search location: Home (selected in top slice of Find window)
    Name: Contains: nameofperson
If you do it that way, you get the results you indicated as it's finding the extracted Address Book metadata entry that Spotlight uses to index Address Book contacts. Every Address Book contact is saved twice:
    (1) Once in the Address Book database — which Spotlight cannot index.
    (2) Again in a separate XML property list file — that Spotlight can index — in your Home > Library > Caches > com.apple.AddressBook > Metadata folder. Each Address Book contact saved in this format is given a specially generated file name that can also be used for syncing these entries with iSync and .Mac.
The reason you see the search results from Find is that the Name search criterion searches against the kMDItemDisplayName metadata attribute. For the text files of type (2) above, the value of the kMDItemDisplayName attribute is sent to the name of the person in the contact record. However, the search results show file names, as it is a Finder window, and hence displays the specially-generate file name, rather than the contact name, since that is the file name of the result.
If you search using the Spotlight icon for nameofperson it should return the Address Book contact using the person's name.
    Good luck!

  • Searching for missing column names in a single database.

I have a database with about 100 tables, database gets generated using entity framework. The application has been enhanced  so users deployed with older version of the application need to upgrade to newer version. The database generated is both versions
    is same name.
Now, the older version is missing some tables and column names that are in new database.
Is there a script that can search for missing fields in a single database as described in this situation?
Below is my script. Basically, nameofdatabase would the database generated and that already existing. If you install the application and database already exits no new database will be created.
    SELECT * FROM (Select TABLE_CATALOG, Table_name,COLUMN_NAME FROM nameofdatabase.INFORMATION_SCHEMA.COLUMNS) a FULL OUTER JOIN (SELECT TABLE_CATALOG, Table_name,COLUMN_NAME FROM nameofdatabase.INFORMATION_SCHEMA.COLUMNS) b ON b.COLUMN_NAME=a.COLUMN_NAME and
    a.TABLE_NAME=b.TABLE_NAME WHERE b.COLUMN_NAME is null or a.COLUMN_NAME is null ;

  • Outlook 2010 search for contacts of connected account

    Hello.
My client has one issue: they can search contacts in their exchange account but the results don't return contacts from an account that she is authorized to (she can see emails from this other account). She doesn't remember what triggered it she just said
it stopped working. The other person has Mac. How do you enable or troubleshoot search shared contacts from connected accounts?
She is using Windows 8 and Outlook 2010 and they have internal exchange server 2007. I have seen this post: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/0403a096-49b1-4a87-a34f-44566c9cf9ab/outlook-2010-searching-a-shared-users-contacts?forum=outlook
where it points me to another site but it doesn't say what the problem could be if you can't search from shared contacts.

    Hi,
Is the user searching within the shared Contacts folder?
Switch to Outlook Online Mode and search, does the issue persist?

  • Search for a file name by time stamp

Powershell allows us to append the date faily easily to a file name (eg. "test.txt $(get-date -f dd-MM-yyyy).txt").  I'm looking for a simple script to search for a powershell script by a static name with todays date appended.  I
then want to move that file to a another location and rename it. For example lets say the file name is test.txt always and a 3rd party software names it to test12-9-14.txt daily so tommorow it would be test12-10-14.txt and so on.  Each day I need
to take the file testxx-xx-xxxx.txt from the the c:\ drive and move it to the w:\ drive and change the name from testxx-xx-xxxx.txt to test.csv.

I found the typo mm instead of MM which was my problem from the beginning.  MM represents month not mm.  A simple mistake that costed a lot of time.  Thanks Mike
Cheers, you're very welcome. Glad I could help out.

  • How do I use search/find to search for a folder name

I can successfully use Spotlight and Search in Finder and Mail to find files and emails based on their titles and contents, but how to I use the search functions to find a FOLDER by its name, that I have somehere in my nests of folders - so I can then look inside that folder for what I am looking for.
The search results never seem to show up any folder names?

I do have several levels of nested email folders and several hundred folders created over the years. So I was hoping to be able to search for a folder's name, and be taken to it to see it and all of its contents.
The best I seem to be able to do is search for a word that I hope I remember is in one of the emails in that folder, and then find that email in the search results list - but that list still doesn't tell me where the folder in the nested heirarchy that is my mailbox

  • Spotlight search for contact does not open contact itself

    Hello everybody
    I have the following problem:
if I search for an addressbook contact using spotlight it immediately comes up with a credible result. As I hit enter on the result, the address book app opens. So far everything is ok. Now what does NOT happen, is that only the address book app opens, it does however not show the contact for which I have originally searched and on which I have pressed enter. Instead I'm having to do another search in the address book search in order to display the actual contact.
In the spotlight options I have enabled address book searches, in fact nothing is disabled in there.
I also have the current lion software and I'm using a 13" MacBook Air i5.
    Can anyone help?
    Cheers!
    Ben
PS: I know there's another thead that deals with this problem, however it's quite old and now there's iCloud (which I use) so it might be different...

go into settings>general>restrictions and disable facetime.BOOM
