N70 battery suddenly drains in one day

I got my N70 on March 23 2006 (9 months ago). I haven't had the slightest problem with it until now!
All of a sudden it started to drain the battery in just a few hours after being fully charged.
my F/W version is 3.0546.2.3 18-11-05 RM-84
I bought a new NOKIA authentic battery, checked my charger with no results whatsoever. The most amazing part is that after I removed the new drained battery and put the old drained battery in, I got a full battery indication without recharging it!?!?! Only to show it is drained after just 7 hours...
I am of course going to the nokia service centre but I can't understand what kind of a problem this one is. Does the battery drain faster or something is wrong with the phone's indicator?
Any thoughts are very welcome!

I would second the firmware update - though depending on your network & how you bought your phone, that may not be available to you.
I would still suggest your nearest Nokia Service Centre though, ask them to take a look at it - it could be a hardware fault somewhere... something shorting etc.
Definitely ask if a firmware update's available though.
What network are you on? And did you buy your phone sim-free or through the network?

  • Battery running out in one day!

Ok, my battery on my phone literally discharges in about 16 hours every day. When I use my phone I can literally see percents going down one by one every couple minutes. If I leave it for a while and turn it back on to check it half an hour later the battery went down 2-4%!! I work in a big building and have pretty bad reception inside of it but I feel like I have the same problem when I drive to work and when I am at home, though it might be better. The battery just DRAINS for no reason. I have Stamina on and it does absolutely nothing. I don't play game for hours on end or anything yet the power management tells me that it's is all the display pretty much. I feel like my battery is a dud or something.
Also, last night I took it into the shower for the first time and it died for the night until this morning (wouldn't turn on/charge/red light blinking when mini usb plugged in), my front camera has condensation on it too. I posted a topic on it but I feel like it got deleted because I cant find it anymore. I am not very satisfied with this phone lately. I like the speed but it seems to have a bad battery aswell as not very shower proof.
Anyways, where is my 2 day battery life? Is it because of my bad reception? My dad has the same phone and his seems to hold up much better than mine. I might just take his to work with me and have them do the same thing for 20 minutes and see if the battery life is different on either one of ours. It's frustrating. Help?

Having a bad signal can cause your battery to drain quicker and even if Stamina mode is on the network signal isn't cut off and so will still use battery - Having mobile data or wifi etc switched on will also contribute - However what you could do to test this theory is turn on Airplane mode and see if you notice a difference

  • Battery Losing Power After One Day in Europe

So I'm on a study abroad trip to Prague. Before leaving, my laptop had it's original battery life of a little over 3 hours with the screen mostly dimmed. Ever since I've had it plugged in, my computer fan has been really loud despite being asleep for at least 8 hours two days in a row and not running any programs other than firefox and the skype buddy list (not even a call) and when I unplugged my laptop the battery life had dropped to 2 hours and 17 minutes with the screen mostly dimmed. I'm curious, has this happened to anyone else? Does this mean that the European electrical current has ruined my battery and I have to buy a new one when I get back to the states?
    Thanks!

I've just been going through this here in the States. My machine was running hot and the fan seemed to be on all the time and my battery was draining excessively. So when I called yesterday I was told:
    1. take the battery out
    2. wait 30 seconds
    3. hold down the power button for about ten seconds with the battery out (the machine will not power on, but this will reset your hardware)
    4. put the battery back in
    5. re-power the machine
Your laptop should run quieter and the battery should last longer. Mine seems to be doing so.
    Cheers.

  • IPhone 4s battery suddenly drained and won't hold a charge

This afternoon the battery on my iPhone 4s suddenly began to show that my battery was drained, then shut off completely and won't charge. I've tried holding down the home button for longer than a minute and I've tried holding down the home button and the power button at the same time but it still won't turn on. I've also tried leaving the phone to charge without touching it. This is my second replacement phone (which means it's my third iPhone 4s) and I only got it in October. It's hard to believe that it's the battery when it's relatively new, but I know that's a possibility. Anyone have any suggestions of what else I should try before I go into the Apple store yet again for a phone issue?

Ok, thanks for that info. Well I know this probably isn't what your going to want to hear, not that it's necassarily bad advice. I would suggest taking your phone into your nearest Apple Store, make an appointment with the Genius Bar first (it will just make things go smoother). The overheating/dying battery thing is a known problem. They'll either send your phone into get fixed, or you'll get a new phone. Just make sure to do a backup (in iTunes) first, as that way you'll have the most recent info to sync to should they replace your phone.
You can also call 1(800)MY-IPHONE. see if they have any ideas, but I think you'll find they'll reccomend the same thing.

  • Iphone 5 battery suddening draining when not in use

Had my iphone 5 for about 3 months and was very pleased with the battery life. But literally out of no where the battery started draining super fast. Dropping 15% in 30 minutes when not in used. Here's the deal...nothing has changed ie locations, email, icloud etc. And quite honestly what is the freaking point of having those things if it drains the battery at unreasonable speeds. So I completely frustrated with Apple for at least not saying "we understand theres and issue and we are working on it." I will never switch cuz I'm an idiot Apple diehard but there have been so many bugs of late it's just frustrating. Also at the same time of the fast drain when I swipe to delete a text the delete button dissapears within one second. Both issues came on at the same time. I'm trying reseting the battery, restoring, unchecking notifications and a bunch of other features which is so stupid... whats the point of having a smart phone if you can't use the features? So I am going to demand a new phone and I know the Apple Genius guys who are so far from genius its pathetic are going to say nothing is wrong with the phone haha, just like the did with the super slow WiFi connections I get...they were completely unaware that there was a problem with iphones and Wifi cuz of course at the Apple Store the Wifi flies when they test it there but of course once you go back to your home or business the Wifi is back to super slow. Wow the things we put up with. Anyway, if anyone has any suggestions please reply.

  • Battery suddenly draining fast, phone warm/hot

I've had the phone since December and never had an issue with battery life. It normally lasts all day with no interim charge and I use it on and off all day for Facebook, Yahoomail, texting. Starting this morning, the battery drained to nothing in less than 5 hours and I barely used it. No calls, a little bit of Facebook and maybe one email. I don't have it on push, WiFi is off. I turned it off and on, backed everything up but it's still happening. I have an appointment at the Genius Bar tomorrow but short of restoring it, why is this happening now? I usually charge it overnight and sometimes do an interim charge around 5pm on the way home from work.

Try a phone Reset... press the home and sleep buttons for 5-15 secs until you see the Apple logo, ignoring the slider. You won't lose any data or settings.

  • My Lenovo S890 battery suddenly drains in minutes

Just last night I realized that my Lenovo s890 has been shut off due to battery drain from full charge to 0 in minutes...So what I did is to recharge it again and to my amazement, in under 30 minutes it has fully recharged, but when I unplugged it from the charger there's the battery notification display rapidly counting down...I have checked online for general topics on this matter and tried all the suggested tips and solutions but to no avail...My unit is still under 1 year from date of purchase...please help...

I'm surprised and at the same time disappointed that nobody had offered any input to sorts of troubleshooting to somehow give a semblance of solution to my unit"s problem, or perhaps this is a first type of a problem of its kind thus, no one could come up with any clear solution...Anyway, I have done some tinkering while waiting for replies, and I believe I have solved my own problem, and decided to share with you guys for reference if ever you encounter this same problem:
I consulted years-old forums about android phones quick-battery loss problem and picked out potential solutions there such as:
    1. Not using the Facebook app since its using lots of battery juice by posting notifications which come minute after minute; and instead just use the FB in the built-in browsers which consume very little battery juice...
    2. Tried the full battery drain then recharge 10 times, and after 4th recharging, there already is a significant normalization of my battery life, On this 4th recharge, I got full battery by 7am. After 16 hours, its only down to 66%, and that's with a considerable amount of Wi-Fi connectivity.
    3. I also suspected a particular screenshot app as a culprit for the sudden rapid battery drain, as if this app has caused my Lenovo's battery draining behavior to go haywire. Upon uninstalling the app, the draining behavior of my battery gradully returns to normal...
    4. When this rapid battery draining happened, I had the combinations of Lenovo Battery Saver, NQ Power Booster, and Green Power Free apps which I all used to monitor and keep my battery life at check...then after the "incident" I  stopped using the said apps and replaced them eith Super Battery Saver and Juice Defender which were effective when I still have my Lenovo A90, at first there was a semblance of normalization in my battery life but with this screenshot app[which I also uninstalled with the 3 powersaving apps, then re-installed with this 2 replacement battery saving apps] the battery draining was still fast, which continued even after the second uninstalling of the screenshot app. What I did is to uninstall Juice Defender and Super Battery Saver and replace it with Lenovo Battery Saver and Green Power Free but to no avail...Next move: replaced the Lenovo Battery Saver and Green Power Free with Juice Defender  and NQ Power Booster, and upon the said 4th recharging the return to normal battery draining behavior...
The full-drain then recharge 10 times is still on and I'm still monitoring my unit's battery draining behavior...I will be posting updates...

  • MBP 15" Battery Suddenly Draining Fast.

    Hi.
So my MBP 15" has always had a decent battery, the usual lengths based on average usage.
Today it suddenly started discharging really fast. 10% in 30 minutes when doing nothing but web browsing over wifi with screen at half brightness. It went down 78% this afternoon with just web browsing, a couple of youtube videos and a little bit of music, normally this would not make much of a dent.
(Note, it has gone down 3% just writing this message)
Activity monitor is showing no rogue processes running and spotlight hasn't been indexing.
The Machine is a 15" 2011 MBP 2.0Ghz Core i7, 4GB RAM, High Res display, 720rpm HDD. Running OSX Lion 10.7.2. I'm sure that is more info than you need, but just in case.

Activity Monitor won't show a rogue processes unless you change its "Show" window from the default of "My Processes" to "All Processes" as in this example:
    Have you done that?
Do you have the Windows emulator "Parallels" installed. There is an issue with it that can cause the Dock to use 100 percent of the processor cycles. Parallels does not have to be runing for this to happen; the culprit is apparently one of that programs background processes. It can be fixed with a patch provided by the developer here:
    http://kb.parallels.com/en/111541
Are you running anti-virus or internet security software? The expensive commercial versions can really drag down performance.

  • Why would an iPhone6 battery go dead in one day without use?

My iPhone6 starts the day with a full charge and without even using it ends up around 20% by evening. HELP!

Mmy first suspicion would be that you have, perhaps inadvertinantly, setup some app that is continuing to run in the background.  Check your battery usage by app in settings (Settings, general, usage, battery usage).

  • X60 battery suddenly died

Hi - my battery just died from one day to the next. It is frozen at 30% but the moment I remove the mains cable the battery dies...so there is no electric connection between the battery and the laptop. Any idea why? It was working fine yesterday and the battery holds 2-3 hours charge no problem. I wonder if this is a software problem? But then why would the power be 30%?
    Many thanks for any help.

Reckon you're right, there's a problem with the battery - fused or sudden death for some reason. I've just ordered a replacement so hopefully I'll be able to prolong the life of this super X60 beast I've had for 9ish years now!
    Thanks again

  • Ref:iphone 3G.I was visiting the US last week. One day my iphone battery completely drained overnight.I re-charged it but ever since it has either come up with a message saying it's registering, or that I need to register it.It was registered years ago.

Ref: iphone 3G. I was visiting the US last week.  My iphone battery completely drained overnight. I re-charged it but ever since it has either come up with a message saying it's registering or saying I need to register it.  I'm concerned that if I re-register it on itunes I'll lose all my data.  I originally registered it a couple of years or so back, when it was new.  Any advice much appreciated.

Thank you for quick reply.  The data is still there - every so often when I switch it on, it comes up with the main icon screen, rather than the emegency calls only screen (which it does most of the time), and I can get to my contacts, photos, and so on, but it won't connect to any mobile/cell network provider, including my network here in the UK - O2.

  • Battery works fine one day, next day "Irreparable Battery Damage Has Occured"... TWICE

I have a three year old IBM X60s that up until a few days ago, was running perfectly. I decided to restore the entire thing to factory condition using the recovery CD's at which point I then updated all the software to the most recent versions. I have two 8 cell batteries for it. After shutting the lid one night to let it go to sleep, I awoke the next morning and turned it on to see a message that said I had "irreparable battery damage". My battery indicator light flashes orange and my laptop will not charge the battery, even though it says I have 94% left, If I unplug it, the entire thing shuts down. It sees that the battery exists and has a charge, but refuses to use that power. Other then these notifications, it acts exactly the same as if there wasn't a battery. So, as annoyed as I was, I stuck in my other battery. I'm sitting on the couch, using my laptop one day, when all of sudden, the entire thing shuts down completely. I plug it in and turn it on to get the message "A battery error has occurred. The battery cannot be charged. Replace the battery." Even though it says this battery is around 80% charged. Now the both have this message despite the fact that up until a few days ago, both were functioning perfectly, holding around 5 hours of charge, which was plenty good enough for me. One has been through a few more then 200 charge cycles, the other a little over 100. I'm at an utter loss as to what to do. I've run the battery diagnostic tool and it says both batteries have not been recalled. I've tried recalibrating them, but nothing works. They are obviously way out of warranty, but this is obviously not a problem with the batteries since they were functioning perfectly before this incident. What should I do?

    hi,
i now have the same problem. the battery just died and i have a flashing orange battery icon, the software tells me the battery is at 90% charge.
i read in the forum that the charging unit of the mainboard might be damaged if you keep running your notebook whilst the icon is flashing.
what was your solution? did you just buy a new battery and it worked again?
    thanks in advance,
    regards,

  • I bought an iphone 5 2 days ago and both days, the battery has drained to 20% in 12 hours....  I thought it was supposed to have 8 hours of talk time?  I haven't even been talking on it. 2 calls...  just texting.  Is there a app killer app available?

I bought an iphone 5 only 2 days ago and both days the battery has drained to 20%.  All I have done is text and make 1 call...  Are there any app killers or task killers for this phone to download?

Well, i bought two iphone 5 for me and my wife...she used it for only 2 days and she gave it back to me complaining from the same problem and she went back to her 4S, i thought she was kidding until i used mine,,,oh my god, the battery does not last for more than 6 or 7 hours, even without making any calls. i was so happy with my previous 4S as i used to charge it at night and stay almost 2 days on a stand by before recharge it again. well, im done with apple, have an appointment today in apple store to return mine, and even if they give me 2 new ones, i will not even open them,,,, for sale right away.

  • Is it possible for a battery to be perfectly fine one day and then just die

my black MacBook battery just died the other day, its an aftermarket unit that came with my MB I bought it used. he computer has been working great only issue is original battery was pretty worn so seller bought an additional and kept the factory one as a spare, however I'm having to use tha spare which is holding maybe an hour charge if that because the "good" battery laid an egg, suddenly and without warning, computer shut down and wouldn't come back to life till I changed battery for original one and the aftermarket battery now doesn't even charge, it will go up to 3 lights and after 5 minutes be back down to 1 flashing light. Is there an issue here or is this just a dead battery?

Lyssa you are becoming my angel, hope you take a look at my DVD stuck in drive post too .
Here is the system profiler info as it is I'm probably going to get some used batterie(s) of ebay but I wish I could forgo that process, I'll profile the battery that died when I get home. Thank you Angel, er.....I mean Lyssa
