N70 firmware not updating

Hi, I'm updating from 3.0546.2.3 to 5.0705.3.0.1 and
I am at step 3/3. the window says updating software please wait - estimated time left is 10 minutes and has said this for the last 2 hours and there is no option to cancel. Any ideas appreciated. Thanks

Unfortunately something has crashed, either your PC, the phone or the NSU.
All you can do when this happens is pull the cable and hope for the best. If it won't switch back on try removing the battery for a few minutes. If it still doesn't work reboot your computer and try this:
First remove the battery for 5 minutes, reconnect the battery, connect it to your pc and run the updater again. Leave it for a few minutes and it should go into recovery mode.
If not disconnect it and try a hard reset.
Hard reset:
1. Switch off the phone.
2. Hold down the following three buttons: Green (the call answer button), * button, and '3' button.
3. While holding these buttons, press the power button and switch on the phone.
4. Release when the phone shows the nokia logo or shows other signs of life like the language selection screen.
If that fails to fix it try the advice offered in this post by drummer27:

If that still fails then the last option is to take the phone to a nokia care point.

PAP2T Firmware not updating

Is there a way to force the updater to update a PAP2T with the latest firmware?
I have a PAP2T that I purchased from EBay. When I try to update the firmware, the updater goes all the way through and then tells me it failed.
The firmware version on the PAP2T says 3.1.15(LS). Isn't this firmware for the PAP2 instead of the PAP2T? Is there a way to force the updater to update the firmware on this device?
The device appears to work fine except for when I try to return from call waiting. The person on the other end hears me, but I cannot hear them. This is why I want to update with the latest firmware.

There are two ways to update a firmware of an SPA or PAP2 according to this FAQ . Just double check if you have downloaded the right firmware and make sure also that your unit is not automatically fetching a firmware from your ITSP

Creative Zen Xtra Firmware not updat

Hi everyone,
After a few months of disuse I got out my old Zen Xtra 30GB. I turned it on and it booted to Rescue Mode. I formatted everything and erased the OS. Now when I plug the player in (After installing the most recent drivers) Windows recognises it and Media Source makes a half-hearted attempt at syncing it, but when I try to update it with the latest PlaysForSure firmware the updater first gives me "Your player's current firmware is the same as this version. Do you want to continue?". I click yes, and the firmware updater says "Your battery levels are too low. Please charge your batteries before you proceed."
Obviously I can't charge the batteries while in Rescue Mode, so I am unable to proceed with the firmware update. The player is plugged into the mains as I do this. The player appears in Media Source (latest version) and in the device manager without a malfunction sign or anything. Also the old version of the firmware updater before PlaysForSure doesn't recognise the player.
Is there anyway to bypass the battery level check so I can install the firmware? Thanks.

You won't believe but I had the same problem just couple of days ago with the same player (but 40 gigs). I was confused just like you, so I tried to format the disk again (while connected to PC) and reloaded the OS. Then a message appeared like 'Now you can update your firmware' or something like that, so I ran the firmware from PC, and no message about a battery level appeared, and the firmware was updated correctly. Try it, and let me know if it's OK! Good luck!

N86 8MP v10.086 firmware not updating to v20 & v21

Hi All,
I had buy a Nokia N86 8MP on 3rd Feb'2010 from a reputed mobile store in bhubaneswar,Orissa,India
The firmware version installed is ''v10.086''
As per nokia ''v20''& ''v21.006'' is released.
So I go for an update via NSU and via AIR, but its showing your firmware is upto date and no update is there for v10.086 where as v20 and v21 is already released.
My phone is also not associated with brand such as Orange,Vodafone,T-mobile etc.
Also I have buy from a certified mobile shop.
I have also gone through Nokia.co.in site, its says to enter the code of the mobile which is below the battery,I also go for that and same result comes out v10.086 is latest for the code.
I can also give my code if somebody ask for it
Is there is no update for my mobile?
Is face detection I can't avail?
As per nokia v20 & v21 is already released but why not for my N86?
Most importantly Is in future whether I can avail this updates or not?
Please help me out for which I ll be grateful to you neither my 20k bucks will be simply wasted.

Firmware not updating for nokia 5800

I got my phone from chicago flagship, they said it's a Euro VErsion of nokia 5800
when I go to device updates, it says no update available, although version 11 is out.
when I do it from the PC suite, it says that your network provider has not approved the
update, no update availabe.
I'm using T-mobile US.
Anyone have a clue on how I can update my phone, I get the usual 5800 firmware 10 bugs, like
unable to edit and add birthdays on contacts, alarms not working.
I really like to have it updated.

that is strange because euro codes usually are one of the first ones to get the firmware updates. you can serach your product code via google and find out if it is indeed a euro version of the code. this is an unlocked/unbranded unit right? you should have no issues in regards to provider in that case. does nokia flagship chicago have a service departmetn as well? you can always take it to them and request that they do the update for you. still this should not be the case if you have an unlocked/unbranded euro version of the device.

SMC Firmware not updating

I have a question on the SMC firmware update. On the apple site, it mentions 1.14f4 as latest version. I checked, and mine is 1.13f3. I actually do have a problem with my macbook shutting down, but the updater says i do not need to update. Any ideas?

The SMC update does not apply for the Core 2 Duo's. Now when your computer shuts down, is it shortly after disconnecting the AC power cord? If so you could be having battery issues.
Also, have you recently installed any RAM upgrades? Do you have any external devices connected to the computer when it shuts down such as a printer, digital camera, memory stick etc.
I would advise disconnecting all external devices if you have not already done so and removing any additional (third party) RAM that may have been installed and seeing if the issue persists. I don't doubt that your computer is shutting down, but I do not believe that it is due to the same issue that the older macbooks were having, and the SMC firmware update addressed.

With NSU You can do the update process. The only problem could be the system language, because if the phone is from another region, NSU go do the upgrade with that language region... I´m not sure that English language is present on all regions!

Can not update iphone firmware using iTunes "The network connection timed out"

I can not update the iphone firmware using iTunes.
Messagte displayed
"There was a problem downloading the software fo the iPhone. The network connection timed out.
Also seen stopped error -3259
I have run network connectivity tests from iTunes and All Tests passed.
Can anyone help?

Did you make sure it was the exact file for your device and the latest version? I just downloaded the latest file for my iPhone4, put it in the folder I mentioned above and it ran the install versus downloading the file. This problem where it times out after downloading is a big Bug within iTunes that has been there ever since IOS 7.0 was released. I wished these apple developers would just fix iTunes. There are a ton of complaints about this issue. I sure miss Steve Jobs running this business, I really feel like it's gone down hill after he left.

Reasons why a phone cannot update:
1. It is a country variant - country variants often get the updates later, or have updates skipped altogether. A Turkish country variant product code for example, skipped v40 and updated from v31 straight to v50.
2. It is network branded - phones acquired from network providers or these providers' stores SIM free are branded, and will not get updates until the networks approve and modify the updates to their liking.
3. Special editions - These special editions are chartered editions and may never get updates unless taken to a Nokia Care center.

You have to delete the corrupt back-up so iTunes can at least back-up the current data on the iPhone and then restore it. Search these forums, there a several good posts on how to delete the corrupt back-up.
