N70 Gallery

Hi,
Got a replacement handset today, *seems* to have sorted out the resetting problem.
I have a question however, is is possible to put folders into the N70's media gallery? It's very pretty and all but it soon gets clogged up with stuff. For example I don't want pics I have just taken with my camera to be in the same place as videos I download or indecent pics sent from friends, so when I show my innocent grandmother the photo I have taken of her it does not show up next to a picture of my friend running **bleep** down the street.
I want a folder for camera pics, a folder for music vids, a folder for emoticons etc.. On my old SE P800 and even on my non-smartphone K700i the gallery used the disk folders to do this, so all I had to do was use the file browser, drag and drop videos into a folder called 'Videos' then next time I viewed the gallery it would show up, this doesn't seem to work on the N70, it ignores disk folders.
Is it possible to make the gallery observe sub-folders in the media folders? Is it possible to make pics taken with the camera to go automatically into a selected folder?

There's a couple of resolutions for this.
You can use FExplorer to hide certain files or folders and they will not be displayed in the Gallery.
Or you can use File Manager within the Tools menu. I use this as a shortcut on my up key and have also moved it out of Tools and onto the Main menu. You can flick right to left to flick between the phone memory or memory card. The folders listed in here are as simple as the 6230, ie. Images, Sound clips, Video Clips.....
Only thing I find is that you can't scroll through the data unless you open and close each item. Slightly annoying but hey, cant have everything.
I also use FExplorer to hide certain folders that I dont want other people to see, just in case someone gets their hands on my phone.

If you take your memory card out of the N70 and go into the gallery, do you get any error ?
If so you should follow the instructions in this post :

However please be aware that doing so will wipe ALL the data from your phone such as information in your calendar, contacts and so on.
In order to save your data you can use the PC Suite application to save and restore the data from your phone - this software can be found here :

One thing to note is that as part of these diagnostics, you should NOT restore any backup or install any software on the phone as you could be putting the problem back onto the phone.
In order to solve the memory card format problem, you could try formatting the card in another device such as any PC that has a memory card slot.

N70 Image gallery 'Corruption'

Can anybody help:-
All of a sudden, my N70 told me my image gallery was corrupted and my pictures, of which there were many, have been removed. Does anybody know:
1) What would have caused this?
2) How to get my pictures back?
3) How to prevent this happening again?
4) If all else fails, some of my pictures are on my laptop - how can I get them from my laptop back to my phone?
Finally, since I lost all my pictures with this apparent 'corruption' I now get this message whenever I turn on my camera to take a photo on the phone (now with no previous pictures in my gallery): "Memory card is not accessible. Phone memory will be used instead." What does this mean? Has anybody had this happen to them?
Any help much appreciated!

There are programs out there that will scan the card and retrive all the data.
My sister removed loads from here camera and I got it all back.
so dont worry to much about the missing pics.

N70 | All Images in Gallery

Is there any way/third party software to to arrange all the pics/videos in different folders without getting them displayed in gallery. It shows all files in gallery no matter where we have saved them .. this is really bad feature

The .docx file you tried to attach is relative to your local hard-drive so none of the rest of us can see it.
Use the web interface to attach an image and don't try to put it into a word document, just a JPG or PNG. Click on the little camera icon when you're typing a message on the web version of the forums, which you can get to using the View Discussion link in each e-mail:

I Cant Access my "GALLERY" on my N70

Hi! what are the possible reasons why i cant access my "GALLERY" anymore.. when i press it, it just blinks and cant get in.
was it due to i have 300MB of picutres and videos?

I already fix the error.. haha..
at first i wonder why it doesnt make a successful scan of memory details of my memory card, then i try to view the details of every folder in my memory card until i come with this folder and when i try to view the details, it then disconnects my phone from the pc.. then, i tried to move the other folders to my pc, and again, when i tried to move that folder, it discconects again, i format my memory card and do a soft reset and kaboom.. my gallery works! yipee...

Not displaying photos and video in the Gallery

Is it possible to prevent photos that you might not want your mother to see from being displayed in the Gallery, i.e. have them stored on the phone (mine is a 5230) and viewable via File Manager, but not viewable in the Gallery?

You mean you can't start new topic? on Phone or PC? Log in and choose the section like "Nseries" or XSeries" and you'll get "Start New Topic" first to "Board Options" on every section's main page, Look at the attached screenshots, On mobile version the button to start new topic is next to "Search Board" as you can see.

Problem with my E52 gallery

hi guys,
i recently got a new e52, its all grt except for d fact tat i have got few pictures loaded on ma 4gb memory card tat i inserted into d phone which are not shwn in the gallery, but they r present in the card when viewed thru file manager
the songs got updated into d library from d memory card
even when i receive picture thru bluetooth, i can see them in d in box and after savin them to the card or phone, they are not seen in d gallery
plz help me out guys

evrytime i click on gallery or music player i get back to the previous screen i am neither able to view any pictures nor i can hear music on it..!!

You've answered your own question - in order to use the majority of data functions you require at least a BIS data plan, even when using them only over wifi. Give your carrier a call and see what options they offer.

N70 - Multimedia Key - Fault?

Hi All,
I have set the Notes application to the Multimedia Key, which worked for a while, but then stopped.
This is my second N70 due to o2 blocking my first for some reason only known to themselves. The Multimedia Key on the first didn't work at all - until I was preparing to return it, and I uninstalled all the apps and everything from the Gallery - when I deleted the gallery items, something about an active key flashed up - I didn't really take notice as I was sending it back, but after that happened, the Multimedia Key worked.
I've tried looking in the Active Keys in the Menu, but it crashes the phone.
Just wondering whether anyone can help me with this?

Again O2 are quite good in this respect, my SIM seems to have the ability to add an icon to the any(?) unlocked phones menu system. The icon is just called "O2" If you select this, a warning pops up "allow SIM card to send a message" If you select 'yes', hey presto all your settings are set to you via ~3 SMS messages that self install the settings you mention onto most modern phones.
So you get all your settings back in ~5 min worked a treat.
I'm not sure if it is just new SIMs that have this ability?
as I got an upgraded O2 '3G ready' SIM recently.
Otherwise you could use this 'operator settings' service provided by Nokia themselves...

Slow respone while open Gallery and Application

I have Nokia X6 with lates software version of 20.0.0005. whenever i press Gallery or application, it doesnot respond at all, i have to exit out to main screen and then go back to gallery or application.
If i select ringing tone as video and keep my ringing in asecnding option, my phone doesnot ring atall.
Please help...

when I press to enter the gallery, the background image appears and then disappears. no phone block.thus it does not open.
for the battery, I tried the hard reset, he asks for the code, I entered it but he does nothing until I press cancel, where it return back to its initial state (On state).
I searched for the N70 software update but I could not find it, can you please give the PATH.

N70 problems that need to be fixed in next FW

Since there's been a time since Nokia released a new FW for the N70, maybe they need to know what need to be fixed, and ASAP, since these are severe problems.
1. The Music Player: It starts slow, very slow. In the v2 and v3 FW it used to open in a second, now it takes almost a minute. It displays the "Opening" sequence, and then "Processing" sequence, and only after that you enter the Music Menu. Also, veru important issue: If you go to All Songs -> select a song, and then hold a button from the joystick, the Music Player crashes. But the opening is the MOST IMPORTANT. Make it quicker.
2. The Gallery has to be faster. We have to wait a lot of time for the Gallery to open, then we select Pictures & Videos. Here we find a "Opening" sequence of about a minute, and then we wait a lot until the pictures are loaded (if they're newly added).
3. Speaking of pictures, when N70 owners make a picture/video, they don't really have time to view the picture/video, since the viewing time is very limited (about 3 seconds). How about making a BACK button, so that we'll go back to the viewfinder when we're done viewing newly captured moments?
4. When in Messaging -> Delivery reports, you can't use the C button to delete delivery reports.
5. No information about Radio in Active Standby, when Radio is on and playing.
These are only a few of the problems that the N70 continues to have. Please, other N70 users, post your issues/bugs here, so that Nokia will try (hopefully) to improve the N70. I know the N70 is not an important product anymore, but it does not mean it has to have serious issues.

1. It's video capture problem - microphone sensitivity is too high (only on mp4 and only on 5.xx firmware). Also refresh rate during videocapture is very slow. It's not possible to make nice mp4 video capture! Interesting is that 3gp capture is nice, fast with clear sound, only mp4 capture have a problem...
2. I don't know why it's not possible to make clean reboot now. (e.g. on FExplorer, reboot). N70 with last firmware during reboot freezes (white screen)
3. Should be possible to turn off the Nokia sound during N70 starting? I have little childrens and every morning when I turn on my N70 they all awake...
NOKIA, please, is it possible to prepare new fw?

I am using N70 mobile.Recently my phone had a problem, It could not open the Gallery,when I asked the Nokia shopkeeper, he said it is having virus. He however corrected the problem by formatting the software and reinstalling the O.S . But ever since this problem is resolved I am not able to transfer the data using Bluetooth. It says Memory Not Enough. Once it successfully copied the song using bluetooth but was not able to open that song through the gallery again to show the downloaded song.Now shopkeeper says that I have to prevent using bluetooth because virus can come and it will again affect the mobile and also advised to use data cable connection to transfer data but that computer from which this transfer will be done should also be virus free. Now this is a problem for me , because none of the computer is virus free and obviously transferring through bluetooth is easy. Please advice me how should I scan the data on my mobile with antivirus so that everytime transfer is done, it is virus free.Is it possible?

Need advice for Nokia N70

I've just updated my antivirus software(Symantec) on my phone. What happened next after the virus definition is updated, my phone restarted to the n70 white screen. After about 5 seconds the logo of nokia blinked once and stalled. Any suggestions??

N97 mini: folder setting for image gallery / photo...

Hi I've just got a simple question: is it possible to choose the images folder(s) which are shown in photobrowser or image gallery on a n97 mini?
now it shows all the images on my device/mass storage/sdhc card, and I don't want that to happen. I want to be able to choose the folders which are shown. now it also shows all icons of my pois inthere, so i've got over 400 images (all images which are used by programs) while there are only about 50 files in the images folder.
now i have to scroll through 350 images which i don't need, just to find 1 photo i want to use as a background.
hoping that there will be a software update which allows for changing these settings, so that it only shows the folders I want to use.

You can use X-plore from "lonelycatgames" , to hide an entire folder, but those images are used by programs this would be of no use.
If you are interested to know how:
1ownload and install X-plore, their website, (trial works as good as full, with a just a splash screen at startup)
2: Open it, Create a folder any where on memory card. Or if you know the folders where "those 400" pictures reside, navigate to it.
3: click Options>file>attributes>and tick "Hidden" it'll ask "Do you want to edit attributes of all file in this folder?" click yes.
Now all the file in a particular folder are hidden, so they won't show up in gallery.

N70 camera and photo quality help

I've just bought a Nokia N70 and I have a question that I hope somebody will answer. Is it normal for the photo to loose its quality, to become unclear after you take it and you zoom it? Usually after I take a photo, I go back to the phone gallery and it looks fine in the normal mode, i.e. 100%, but after I zoom it for example 25% or 50% it looks worse, unclear, a poor quality. Is it normal or is something wrong with my phone? Thanks in advance...

The N70 has quite a good camera on it (in good light).
Once you take the picture, the quality of it will not change. When you are taking the picture itself if you zoom in on a subject then the quality of the picture will decrease accordingly. The best quality can be obtained when the camera is not zoomed at all.
There are occasions that I have noticed in the gallery that the picture will look quite pixelated - the cure for this is either to wait for a few moments for the N70's processor to clarify the image or to quit the gallery and go back into it.
If you transfer an unzoomed image off to a PC the quality will be fine.
