N70 Music Files - Default File Location

When I transfer music to my N70 using PC Suite, the default file location is \Sounds\Digital. Should I just change the default to \Music, or is there some reason why this location is the default?

No AFAIK it does not matter where you put it, Music manager scans for your tracks and plays them.
If you would like to keep it tidy and have your music in one place I can not see any harm it pointing it at another folder.

  • InDesign "converted file" default save location

This is not a new issue. When opening a previous CS5 or CS6 file, I make corrections and "Save" or "Save As". However, it is as if InDesign has no clue where that file originated and it defaults to last folder I worked out of. Not a big deal, but when working in huge directory trees, this can be an extra 10-15 seconds of wasted time. Is there a workaround on this?

Actually, there is a workaround by using a third party solution, but it only works on Macintosh computers.
Default Folder X from St. Clair Software quickly pays for itself by remembering recent folders, and there are a ton of ways to configure it:

Whenever you try to save a PDF file to a location other than the default location ('My Documents'), Firefox freezes & you have to go to the 'Task Manager' to exit Firefox and stop the error. I have Windows XP (Media Center Edition) and all updates (Firefox, Adobe PDF, Microsoft, virus protection, etc) are installed. This has only been a problem since Firefox 4, and isn't a problem in Internet Explorer.

    Hi David,
Thank you for your detailed question. It sounds like the real issue is pdf files. Are there any antivirus/firewalls that might be blocking this specific file type? or are there any preferences in your control panel that might be blocking this?
Do you have any stored preferences for PDF files in Firefox?

  • How to set default file location in Illustrator?

I'm using Creative Suite CS5 in Windows Pro 64, and would like to set a default location for files in Illustrator and Photoshop when I execute the File > Open or File > Save commands.
Yes, the program defaults to the location of the last file opened, but sometimes that file is gone, or I'm creating a new one from scratch, and the program looks for files in a distant place in my file structure.
** Is it possible to set a default file location for opening and saving in Illustrator CS5 (and in Photoshop CS5)?
    Thanks.

Not that I know of. It simply reverts to the global "My Documents"/ "Documents" folder as provided by your operating system. these can of course be changed using variables and editing the Windows Registry/ Group Policies, but that affects all programs...

  • Setting project default file locations and a few random interface questions

I apologize for the randomness of this post, but it seemed better than spamming a bunch of different posts in a short period of time.  I've been using Premiere Elements 9 for about 6 months now and there are a few little things that I'd like to tweak.
I'd like to change the default file save location for a project.  I've got different projects in different folders and it seems like I should be able to set a default save location for each project.  All I've ever been able to find in the help is how to set the scratch folder, which is different.
I'd like to change the default encoding preset for a project.  For example, I have a custom preset for mp4 under the mobile phone category.  It would be nice to have that be the default whenever I pick the mobile phone category.
With birthdays and concerts and plays and all that stuff I have about 50 videos and a couple hundred large photos already.  Every time Premiere loads, it takes a few extra seconds to load up all of the thumbnails.  I hide all the videos and pictures on the Organize tab and save the project, but it never sticks.  Is this just impossible?
Finally, every so often, the end-of-clip marker acts funny.  I don't know what the proper name for it is, but it is the thing under the mouse cursor in the picture below.  It used to automatically move on the time line as I added or deleted clips.  Somehow I clicked a button and it no longer does that.  After a week or so of not working, it goes back to automatically adjusting as I add and delete clips from the timeline and then it will break again.  Ideas?
Also in the timeline, I now have this huge gap of nothingness on top of video 1, see picture.  My ocd says that Video1 and Audio 1 should be at the very top and the gap should be on the bottom.  Ideas?
    Thanks,
    Bob

I kind of wish you'd have spread these questions out over a couple of posts so that we could answer each thoroughly. If I answer all of them in depth in a single post, this answer would be the size of one of my books! (which, by the way, contain many of the answers to these questions.)
    1. The default save location for your videos should be the last place you've saved your video to. So that should happen automatically. Although in my books I recommend that, whenever you start a new project, you create a new folder for it. This is good housekeeping and a good way to keep your tmp and render files in the same place on your drive, which has a number of advantages.
    2. You can't create a custom project preset. The only presets available are the ones Adobe provides. And, although they are pretty extensive, some non-traditional formats (like video from some mobile phones) are not well supported. You may be able to get it to work -- but it's usually a hybrid solution and, personally, if you plan to use your phone's video as your main video source, I'd recommend you look at another video editing program. Premiere Elements doesn't do the hybrid stuff well. It's ideally suited for video from traditional camcorders.
    3. The thumbnails you see when the program loads are not in your current project. At least not until you import them into your Project panel. That Media panel is merely a preview to what's in your Organizer catalog. As I explain in my book, it's usually best to ignore this panel until you really learn your way around the basics of this program. It's very confusing. Fortunately, it adds very little load time to the program itself -- regardless of how much time it seems to add.
    4. The thing in the illustration is the Work Area Bar. It's used to isolate a segment of your timeline for rendering, etc. Usually, it will shrink and grow as you add and remove video from your timeline. Unfortunately, there's a bug in version 9 and, if you manually change it once during a project, you'll have to manually change it for the rest of the time you work on the project. But, if you drag each end of the Work Area Bar to cover your entire timeline of videos, your project shouldn't misbehave.
    5. The "gap of nothingness" on your timeline is just room for you to add more audio and video tracks if you'd like to. It's a good thing to have! BTW, as I'm sure you know (and my books, once again, explain) you can toggle the tracks on your timeline so that they display as either compressed (as in your illustration) or wide open, which allows you to see your clips and control audio and video levels. Once again, this is a very good thing!
    Happy moviemaking.

  • Export/Unload Default File Location

Version 1.5.5 used the last location as the default for exporting a result set. Version 2.1.1.64 always uses Documents and Settings\etc. as the default. The documentation says this can be changed in user preferences, but either the documentation is wrong or there is some kind of nomenclature I don't understand in the preferences section.
So: is it still possible change the default location for exports, or (should I finally reorganize my hard drive to reflect Windows defaults.)
    Documentation:
File: If the output is to a file, click Browse to select the directory or folder and to specify the file name and extension. The file path is then placed in the File box. (The default file path for export operations is specified in the SQL Developer user preferences for Database.) Standard file extensions include .sql for Insert format, .xls for Microsoft Excel format, .xml for XML format, .ctl for SQL LOADER format, and .csv for CSV format.
If there's already an answer, I apologize. I tried searching 3-5 times but came up with copious entries with the word "export" in them no matter what other words I included in the search string.

In 2.x, that was Preferences - Database - Select default path to store export in.
    Have fun,
    K.

  • Default file location when calling report from Forms 10G

I've tried this in the reports forum, but it applies equally to forms I guess..
    Hi,
I've managed to put together a routine for running a report from a 10G Form. In 6i I specified a "relative path" to my report name as follows:-
    "Run_Product(REPORTS, '..\Reports\myreportname', SYNCHRONOUS, RUNTIME, FILESYSTEM, pl_id, NULL); "
In 10G I would like to just specify the report name, rather than the full file path. Can I specify a relative file path - or alternatively can I set the default report location in a configuration file?
At the moment I'm having to specify something like:
    SET_REPORT_OBJECT_PROPERTY(repid, REPORT_FILENAME,
    'c:\oracle\systemname\reports\myreportname.RDF');
I would like to just have:
    SET_REPORT_OBJECT_PROPERTY(repid, REPORT_FILENAME,
    'myreportname.RDF');
    Many thanks,
    Keith.

Do you run your application on an application server?
If so you should use the REPORTS_PATH environment variable (in windows registry entry).
Alternatively you could use an environmentid in the reports.conf-file:
    <server version="10.1.2.0.2">
    <environment id="YOURID">
    <envVariable name="REPORTS_PATH" value="C:\......"/>
    </environment>
You call the report with the parameter &envid=YOURID in the URL.

Just yesterday I downloaded the newest update for iTunes, a few days before doing this I purchased music, but after doing the update my songs will not play. It shows a message that says this file cannot be located, what can I do to find the location?

The path C:\users\owner\appdata\local\apple\apple software update\bonjour64.msi cannot be found. verify that you have access to this location and try again or try to find the installation package "bonjour64.msi" in a folder from which you can install the product bonjour.
Unfortunately, this sort of trouble has gotten more complicated to deal with ever since Microsoft pulled the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from their Download Center on 25 June 2010. First we have to find a copy of the utility.
Let's try Googling. (Best not to use Bing, I think.) Look for a working download site for at least version 3.0 of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (The results from mydigitallife and Major Geeks are worth checking.)
After downloading the utility installer file (msicuu2.exe), scan the file for malware, just in case. (I use the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware to do single-file scans for that.)
If the file is clean, to install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you've downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any Bonjour entries and click "Remove".
Quit out of CleanUp. Restart the PC, and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • Default export location not set to pbk file location

    (Pixel Bender 2.1.432154 On Windows 7 64-bit)
After opening an existing .pbk file and going to 'File>Export Filter for Flash Player...', the default location is [Username]\Documents\Adobe\Pixel Bender in stead of the location of the file you are trying to export. Only when you do 'File>Save Filter As', the default export location is set the same as the location of the file.
    Is this intentional?
I would prefer the 'Export Filter for Flash Player' to always use the location of the file you are trying to export, not just after you did 'Save Filter As'. It would save me some time .
    - RC-1290'Dreadnought'
P.S. since Pixel Bender 2.0, the GPU mode not functioning, using ATI HD3870 or ATI HD3200. fine with my HD3870 and my HD3200

Ah, I see, when you open PixelBender first then go to to 'Open Filter' and navigate to where your filter is saved, everything works fine.
I usually double click the pbk files through Windows Explorer, or open them from the Project Explorer in FlashDevelop (which opens the file as if it was opened through Windows Explorer). So it seems like this happens when you haven't 'visited' the pbk file through the explorer in Pixel Bender (like 'Open Filter' and 'Save Filter As').
I have the files saved in a project folder ('Z:\Users\[Username]\Documents\Flash\Procedural\Terrain generator\bin\Shaders', Windows 7 is installed on 'Z:\')
So you should be able to replicate the problem by navigating to a pixel bender kernel file that is saved in a non-default location, with Explorer or equivalent. Then choose 'Export Filter for Flash Player'. Which will then show you 'Z:\Users\[Username]\Documents\Adobe\Pixel Bender' in stead of the location where the pbk file was saved. And even though 'Save FIlter As' makes Pixel Bender Remember the last used location, 'Export Filter for Flash Player' does not. Or at least, not for me.
    I hope this helps .

  • Default File Location for Word using GPO

I have just launched Office 2013 for my users.   Those users access Word and Excel via Terminal Servers.   So, I need ways to set the defaults for these products so I don't have to touch each users login/machine.   I have been
able to use Group Policy for everything I need except in Word and the default file location.   I have tried the GPO administrative template for Office 2013 and went to Microsoft Word 2013 > Word Options > Advanced > File Locations and set
    the path to N:\
Did the gpupdate /force and nothing changed.                               However, Group Policy will set
    it in Excel.
So then I tried using the registry template in GPO.     Here I used HKEY_CURRENT_USER with path to
Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Word\Options and the value name is DefaultPath
    Value data is N:\
    That doesn't work either.
HOW are we suppose to set defaults to our network in Word.
I have also did the entry in GPO to "block signing into Office"                     None Allowed
We don't and won't be using SkyDrive in our type of business

    Hi,
Based on my tested in my environment, I went to set the Default File Location via group policy.
Word: Microsoft Word 2013/Word Options/Advanced/File Location/ and change the Default File Location
Excel: Microsoft Excel 2013/Excel Options/Save and change Default file location
Both of them works fine. As you said " However, Group Policy will set it in Excel." Does it mean that you set Word and Excel via two group policies at the same time, but it only works in Excel?
If it is, please try to re-download and change the
    Word ADMX to test.
If the issue still exist, please try to use Gpresult command Or RSOP to check group policy result on client.
When troubleshooting group policy issues, we use the gpresult command to confirm whether GPOs are really applied to the client (computer/user). You can run the following command in a command prompt:
    gpresult /z > c:\policy.txt
For more details about the usage of command Gpresult, please refer to the following link:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb490915.aspx
When you read the output, the c:\policy.txt file in this sample, please
examine the results of the report to find the answers to these questions.
Does the report list the particular GPO as applied?
Is the setting listed in the report?
Is the GPO listed in the Denied List

  • The iTunes music library.itl file cannot be found or created?

itunes 7 worked all day for me yesterday, but I have had this problem since last night where when I try to start it I get this message: "the iTunes music library.itl file cannot be found or created. the default location for this file is in the "itunes" folder in the "my music" folder. I loaded iTunes on a new laptop. I copied and pasted my albums to a 4G stick and down loaded them to the new laptop. Placing them in, Libraries – Music – iTunes and than in Itunes used File – add file to library. So far so good. For what ever reason one of the CDs would not load onto the stick. I got the orginal CD and loaded directly to Itunes. Now when I look in  Libraries – Music – iTunes it’s not there but it is in and plays in iTunes. What should I have done or should I be doing? Thanks.

It's not a unique situation - happens all the time, smaller hard drives getting filled up.
It's also easy to fix. I just moved my itunes content to a bigger hard drive.
First I made a backup of the itunes database file - iTunes Library.itl. Just in case anything went wrong.
Nothing did go wrong, but I'd have it in case anything DID go wrong. That file holds ratings, playcounts, Date Added, and other metadata.
Second, in itunes change the preferences > advanced tab to tell itunes to put everything on G:
Set the itunes folder location to something like G:Media or G:iTunes
This will affect all FUTURE additions to itunes and not do anything to the existing locations.
Make sure the checkbox for "Keep itunes organized" is NOT checked. I also left the "Copy files when adding" unchecked.
Third, to move all the files to G: without itunes losing the paths, run the File > Library > Organize > Consolidate command. This will need to run a while, so be patient as it copies all the files to the new G: location. This does NOT delete the originals. You will have to do that.
Fourth, make sure everything in itunes is OK and you can play stuff in your library. If you're really cautious you can run a script to check for missing/dead tracks.

  • Can I manually edit the iTunes Music Library.xml file

    Here's why.
Noticed on my Apple TV that there were a number of podcasts that when selected would say "Apple TV cannot play the current song".
Looked in iTunes and these podcasts are no where to be found. Did some searches in Spotlight and also, turned up zeros. Not found.
I then looked directly into my iTunes Music Library.xml file and sure enough there are the records.
What is odd is that the location of all the bad songs have a similar invalid path.
    Bad path.
    <key>Location</key><string>file://localhost/Volumes/iTunes/iTunes/iTunes%20Music/Podcasts/KQED/podcast.mp3</string>
    Correct Path
    <key>Location</key><string>file://localhost/Volumes/iTunes/Music/Podcasts/KQED'/podcast.mp3</string>
Now, all of these have dates that lead me to believe this was due to an iTunes upgrade back in September of 2005. It doesn't look like they are causing problems with iTunes itself. However, it is quite annoying for my Apple TV.
Question. Is there a different way to fix this than just manually removing the entries from the xml file?
I haven't tried to edit the iTunes Music Library.xml file just yet as I want to make I don't totally screw things up first.

I did some additional testing here and I deleted the track information from the iTunes Music Library.xml
On start up of iTunes, it does not add the deleted file back in. On the Apple TV, it still shows the bad file.
What I think that means is that even the Apple TV gets its playlist information from another source.
I have also started on another track which is to remove all of my podcasts from iTunes. Which I have now done.
The only ones left are these bad tracks that only show up in the iTunes Music Library.xml file and more importantly on my Apple TV.
I'd put this on the podcast or the Apple TV thread, but still believe this is an iTunes issue.

  • Recently purchased song and another I transfered into my ITunes library vannot be set up in a playlist.I get the message"file cannot be located".Originally I could listen to the purchased song but now that will no longer play. What do I need to do to ?

Recently purchased a song from ITunes and another that I downloaded from a CD will not transfer to a playlist and will not even allow me to listen to the songs.I get the message "file cannot be located"What can I do to get my system to locate the file?Originally I could play the songs from my desktop and I was able to transfer to my IPad.

Because the location for each song in your library is on your hard drive.  If the hard drive isn't there, how can iTunes play it?
You'll have to move/copy the music from your hard drive to your computer's hard drive.
Basically, EASIEST way to do all this, if you don't care about your play counts, etc...
-Delete EVERYTHING from iTunes, so that your library is now empty.
-Go to "Advanced" inside of the "Preferences" window, found in the "Edit" drop-down.  You can also access Preferences by pressing Ctrl+, (Press Ctrl and the comma key)
-Change your iTunes Media Folder Location to something simple, but on your computer. I use C:/iTunes.  Make sure "Keep iTunes Media Folder Organized" and "Copy files to...." are both checked.  You can close Preferences now.
-Now, drag and drop your music from your hard drive into your iTunes library.  iTunes will automatically add the music to your library, as you would expect, and also creates a copy of each file to place into that iTunes Media Folder you just created.
    Shouldn't have any more problems...
