N70 not recognised by PC Suite

I decided to reinstall the firmware, as I have had a few problems when abroad, and backed up all info using PC suite, then reinstalled software, but now when I connect the phone, PC suite doesn't know it's there!. I'm going through the "get connected" screen. Should I download a new version of PC suite, and if I do, will I lose the dowmload from earlier. All help gratefully received, go to get this sorted in quick time, as off abroad again on Wednesday.

How are you trying to connect to the phone ?
If you are using Bluetooth you will have to go through the re-recognition sequence again and give a passkey etc. to get your PC to recognise the phone as the phone will have no memory of its previous identity - when you upgraded the firmware you effectively ended up with a new phone with no ID.
I would recommend you try to connect the phone initially using a USB cable.Message Edited by edwardquan on 01-Jan-2007

    hi pdogger
With reference to uninstalling PC Suite 6.83 rel_14.1 it removes core application, but cable driver portion remains.
You may need to get Windows Installer Cleanup Utility "msicuu2.exe" from Microsoft.com and run this. You need to select "Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver" and "PC Connectivity Solutions" programs. After running this utility they should now uninstall.
    Reboot your PC.
This should now enable a clean install of PC Suite.

had this problem after doing a hard reset on my x6, pc suite and ovi suite would not recognise phone.
The solution above worked great although i had to restart the pc after repairing drivers for it to connect.
reason for hard reset was because the screen kept going all washed out/scrambled every now and then tho could get it back to normal after playing with lock button. hard reset did not fix this issue which i am still having.

  • 6280, Not being recognised by PC Suite in Default ...

Using the latest service pack of XP, the latest build of Nokia's PC Suite and the CA-53 USB Connector Cable for my 6280 I am trying to connect to my PC. Its not being picked up by the suite. The computer recognises the phone. Ive reinstalled the connector driver to be sure. The phone is in Default mode. When I put it into Data Storage mode I am recognised by the suite but told the mode is incompatible by the suite icon in the system tray. Adobe album launches automatically when i connect in data storage mode. I hope I have given enough information, can anyone help?

when you connect the phone in default mode and open device manager in PC, do you see any question mark usb devices on the list ? If yes, highlight the device, with mouse right click select uninstall, boot PC and then try to connect the phone again in default mode when PC is again on.

Hi, did running PC suite cleaner 3.3 work for you? I am having exactly the same problem and tried this. PC suite cleaner didn't seem to run properly. I chose the "other" problem type and it said that it could not create a list of directories, please reboot and try again. I did this but no good. I then reloaded PC suite and got the same results.

  • PC Suite not recognising any connection

Having recently updated to the newer model 6120c from my previous 6230i I reinstalled PC Suite for ease of transferring data from my PC to my handset but have found that when I reach the 'Get Connected' page of the installation where it asks me to 'Select the connection type' I have no options active at all and when I make certain that the phone is connected to the cable which is fully plugged into a USB port it still will not show any active options for me to select from. I had no problems connecting the previous 6230i via the cable connection and am currently at a loss on how to solve this issue. It may be with the limited amount of services that I have running that I may have inadvertantly turned off an essential service that is required to have PC Suite running. Or maybe it could be that I have a selective start up, but upon investigating the system config utility I do note that there is a launch application checked for a Nokia service to start up so at this point I am open to any helpful suggestions that may assist in the solution to my problem.
Thanks in advance for any help on this issue.

I have a problem with PC suite; it doesn’t allow me to connect to my Nokia N95 and maybe my other Nokia phones; as the get connected wizard shows three greyed out options. These options are Cable connection, Infrared connection and Bluetooth connection. These are found under the select connection type. I have already un and then reinstalled three times, tried to repair the installation and installed the drivers separately. The previous 7.0 version worked fine, but by updating I can no longer connect my phone through PC suite mode. Data transfer, image print and media player work fine. The USB symbol does appear on top of the phone screen, but still no phone connected.
When I click on ‘click here to connect a phone’ a
    Menu pops up:
Get Connected - Troubleshoot Titled  Problems with Infrared connection?  I don’t even have infrared or Bluetooth on my laptop.
The computer does however make a noise to show that something has been connected to the laptop, “tun-nuh” when I connect via PC suit mode.
When I click on one touch access, it says no phones connected, there are no Nokia modems installed, make sure you have installed Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver software. Settings spanner icon, Select modem, and from here I can chose Nokia N95 USB Modem, and then my network operator.
Sometimes when I connect the phone, it says the USB device is not recognised and has malfunctioned. But, when I continue to replug into the different sockets; it starts to install new device found Nokia N95, phone parent, sync-ml… until it finally says your new device is ready.
Please do help, if you can.
    Thank you!

  • PC Suite 7.1.51 Does not recognise IVT Bluetooth D...

I currently use Nokia PC Suite 7.1.40 after being notified that an update was available, I downloaded and installed Nokia PC Suite 7.1.51, tried re-installing Bluetooth drivers just not recognised as existing, although the BlueSoliel 6 system is fully operational, I have had to use system restore to roll back my OS and use the Nokia PC Suite 7.1.40 which seems to work fine.

Well glad to see that I'm not alone with that sort of problem. I ran into the same glitch after updating PC suite too.. also running IVT's latest version under VISTA...PC suite is not connecting via bt advising that the hardware/software wasn't found. Under the info tab of PC suite it loaded

I also wrote to IVT but no feed back from them and thanks to VISTA rock solid platform I was unable to roll back from any previous date. !!!!

  • Nokia PC Suite does not recognise my phone!

Normally when I plus it in, it takes a little while, but then the phone comes up.
Earlier today I installed an external hard drive, which used usb to connect. It is now disconnected, and switched off. Do you think that this has "disturbed" the computer, and now it is not recognising the usb cable connected to my phone?
In my sys tray, the Nokia PC suite icon has a red cross against it. No idea why!
    Any advice gratefully received!!

Forgot to mention- I also installed a new printer today, but it uses the same USB as my old printer did.

  • N91 USB Device Not Recognised

    Can anybody please help.
I purchased the N91 phone 6 weeks ago and I still have not been able to get it connected to my PC via cable.
I am using the CA-42 Cable supplied with the phone by Nokia.
My Operating System in Windows XP Home Edition - Service Pack 2
I have tried both the PC Suite on the CD supplied with the phone and the updated version downloaded from Nokia.
I have also downloaded the cable drivers and tried to install them manually but the Device does not recognise them.
The error message I am getting is
"one of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and windows does not recognise it."
I cannot use the device at all with PC Suite / Windows Media Player or as a Mass Storage device.
I have contacted Nokia Support via email but have not yet received any helpful suggestions ? If anybody has any suggestions that I could try please let me know

    It's very weird.
I had used the N91 in several computers both at work and at home even in some kiosks (to print my pictues) and it has always worked.
Now a few months ago I switched to N91 8GB edition and same thing, never had a problem.
As some of you were saying it even worked on a different PC which is kind of odd.
The first thing I would do is uninstall PC suite or at the very minimum open the connections (in PC Suite) and disable listening to any port so that Windows can talk directly to the device.
Many times once you tried to connect and it failed, windows creates a "failed" icon in the "Hardware device manager" then afterwards every time you try again it recognizes that it's the same device so it gives a fail right away. You need to open the Hardware manager in Control Panel->System->Hardware-> Device Manager and look for any "failed" devices (usually an ! mark will be shown). Then DELETE the failed device, restart the PC and then try again.
If you have a USB hub, get rid of it and connect the device directly to a USB port in the computer. I had a bad experience with a USB hub (4 port) that works great most of the time but when I have long transfer sessions with the N91 it sometimes just disconnects after 1 hr or so.
You may also need to check the Windows and/or BIOS configuration of the PC to check if it's set up for USB 2.0 FS or only HS, or if it's USB 1.1. Nokia phones are USB 2.0 FS.
Hope some of these tips helps

  • MDS9148 does not Recognise 6248 FI

    Hi there
I cannot get an MDS 9148 to recognise and push zoning to a 6248 FI.
I have an MDS9148 (6.2.3) connected to a 6248 FI (2.1.2a). I am using DCNM 6.2.3.  I only have the base port license on the MDS, and the free version of DCNM. My reading of the documentation suggests that with that suite of product I should be able to see and manage the 2 SAN elements of the MDS and FI  (zoning etc etc) from the DCNM.
I have configured the FI in Switch mode, I want the MDS to do the zoning for both devices.
I have link up on the ports between the  FI and the MDS. There are 2 ports, configured as a port channel.
I have an EMC SAN connected to the FI. It is visible to the MDS.
I have an operational blade in the chassis. The MDS can see that too.
So the DCNM shows the whole network, but does not recognise the FI as a 6248, and so it will not allow me to configure and manage my zones across the 6248 either.
I have attached showing the view of the network from fabric A and Fabric B sides.
    Any thoughts would be appreciated

Thanks for that tip. I had an SNMP user "dcnmuser", in the UCS, but not a local admin user. Once I did that I was able to discover the Fabric and have the ability to pick the Fabric or the MDS ports for zoning purposes. That is certainly an advance!
I seem to be 2 steps forward and 1 step back though. I have 2 other issues.
    1. when I edit the zone and add some of the SAN ports into the zone, I can select either the fabric or the MDS SAN Switch A, connected to Fabric A (so far so good), I can select the ports I want (I will use WWNN later, but for now I am using port zoning), but when I apply I get an error
"SNMP: zoneMemberRowStatus.10.1.1.3:Permission denied or feature disabled- MP001-SANSW01 zoneMemberRowStatus.10.1.1.3 Failed to add 1 members out of 1"
    2. I have 2 FIs and 2 MDSs. I cannot see the same thing on fabric B (MDS and FI) as I see on fabric A. I have reviewed the configs on the 2 MDS units. They appear to be identical. However, if I do a Discover on the second MDS, it takes a very long time, and if I try to discover the B FI, on its specific address, it is successfully discovered, but then a
"192.168.25.86 has already been discovered as Fabric_MP001-SANSW02. The original SNMP credential will be used and the version checking is skipped"
If I look at License Assignments i see 4 switches, the 2 MDS 9148s and the A 6248 with correct model numbers, and the B 6248 "Switch model unknown". For some reason the B fabric is behaving differently from the A fabric. I expected that I would be able to do the same thing on both sides.

  • 6610, dku-5, usb device not recognised

    Hi...
Have a 6610 and Windows XP (SP 3) and need to save all my data... so trying to use PC Suite. Bought a DKU-5 cable:
    1. Installed driver from the accompany DKU-5 CD and installed suite... when asked, connected cable and phone. Not recognised
    2. Uninstalled all the above, including registry settings
    3. Installed latest downloaded driver from the Nokia website. Connected cable and phone to PC. Not recognised - sometimes the system just stays quiet, and sometimes i get an error message that the device has failed or not been recognised
    4. Tried running PC Suite from the original CD... doesn't find the phone
    Grateful for any suggestions?
    TIA

    Hi aspergerguy...
First, thanks for the response and sorry for the delay in replying... but have been trying out various routes.
    1. Your suggestion does not even come up in the interface options i get...
    2. Have also bought a CA-42 cable and tried that.
    3. Have downloaded the latest drivers from the Nokia site and the latest PC Suite...
    4. Have aggressively uninstalled by removing even registry entries
    5. Have tried installing and rebooting in various configurations
Nothing works. The CA-42 cable goes as far as saying "New hardware detected" but then gives the "USB device not recognised" error. Just doesn't seem to recognise the driver.
Regarding the COM port suggestion... if i go through the Nokia Connection Manager and click the DKW-5/CA-42 options which are listed under Serial cables, alli get is a COM1 option...
    Any other ideas?
    Cheers...
