  • N70 Packet Data/Access Points?

I got my phone from a friend about a year ago. He had a Telstra sim card in it, but I had a Vodafone. So I put my sim card in, but the MMS wouldn't work. So I changed a few settings and managed to fix it.
However, my phone recently had it's memory wiped, including all the setting changes I made.
But now the MMS isn't working again!
I tried to change the packet data/access point stuff, but it doesn't come up with anything to do with Vodafone...only Telstra.
    Please help?

Hi, just go to your local nokia website. Settings can be ordered from the support section. Settings will be sent to you by sms.

  • Packet data for Nokia C3-00

I have the suite and a network adaptor automatically created. Both of that can't access, the c3-00 respond "Subscribe to Packet data first".. But I already have the gprs settings from my network provider.. What should I do?. Please help me.

Can you browse with your phone? If yes, your problem is alrealdy solved. Nokia PC Suite (any version) wont work with S40 phones like C3. You have to download Nokia Ovi Suite for PC. You can google it and download it free. It's about 87.something MB. It works perfectly.

how this all this could happen just from taking out the battery.
Well, you had to take out the battery while it was running. Then, a lot of fancy things can happen like a file-system corruption or just a SIM re-detection. The latter could load new configurations. The former would require the Nokia Software Recovery Tool on a Windows computer. Anyway, that is very, very rare – let us hope this is fixable by just changing the settings.

  • N80 & Orange packet data

I wonder if anyone else has had the same experience as I've had, I was just playing with my Orange N80 and when I looked in the log file I found the data counter had registered all sent data as 3.05MB and all received data as 4.72MB and all I'd done was look on Orange world a few times and checked out the sport on BBC mobile - which I know is very economical on data, however when I first got the phone I was trying out the camera and didn't realise that my pictures were being uploaded to Orange until I turned off the album feature but there weren't many photo's anyway but at £1. or so a MB this could get very expensive! I called Orange who, whilst being very polite, couldn't help very much other than to advise me to check my next bill and reset the data counter and compare the following bill! Anyway, I've since turned off just about everything as Orange seem to set all connections to a default setting of always on and I now get prompted for any connection other than for calls and sms which has the added bonus of increased battery life - not much mind but still better. Now call me cynical if you will but how many people will run up huge data bills before they realise they need to change the default settings to off which, imho, should the case anyway. Since turning off the packet data, online album etc though, I experience less problems with the handset too!

Just mention my findings on this
I too myself have seen a high amount of data being classed as transmitted via orangeinternet even though I have my accesspoint set to my home network, set the connection to only when needed and also changed the softkey menu so now says camera instead of home.
I rang orange about this and advised I was not happy the phone stated I had transfered 3mb of data in less than 2 days of using the phone, and that I don't use their webpages and if checked previous bills they would know this. I have been told that so far no data is being shown as being used, and when get my bill it will be looked into then if I am charged for anything.
Incase you may not know if you dont have the internet package you will be charged £10 per mb from orange.
I think I have now found out what the problem is, if you connect the data cable to the pc it will go into offline mode and you can transfer whatever you want. The minute you unplug the cable you go back into online mode and the orangeinternet automatically connects and whatever you have transfered by cable gets added to the orangeinternet connection.
Hopefully when get bill I should be able to dispute any charges for this, especially as I've phoned them about it.

  • "Subscribe to Packet Data First" (Bit of feedback)

I recently bought a Nokia 6021, which offers Bluetooth connectivity and E-mail function (send and retrieve). I got some setup advice Forum members.
Bluetooth was easy to set up, and I now use the phone in the car with a handsfree unit, which clips on the sun visor.
    Very satisfactory.
E-mail was (much) more difficult to set up.
I kept getting an error: "Subscribe to Packet Data First".
It turned out that the fundamental problem lay in the fact that Vodafone Support had incorrectly given me the settings for a "Contract SIM card" when in fact I operate mine as a "Pay-As-You-Talk SIM card".
Specifically they got me to insert "Internet" as one of the Bearer Settings parameters - when it should actually be "pp.vodafone.co.uk". "pp" indicates PrePaid.
So watch that point, all you PAYT Users!
It wasn't a 6021 problem ... it was a question of identifying the right kind of SIM card.
Incidentally, when the 6021 retrieves e-mails, if the message is too big (I think above 100k), it fetches the message header, with sender's ID, etc., so that you can identify who has e-mailed you even if you can't read their message/file. Suits me perfectly.
Thanks for the advice I got from Forum members.
    Best regards - Charles

  • N95 WLAN Browsing Costs and Packet Data

I have recently purchased an N95 and am accessing the Internet via my home Wireless Network provided by Virgin Media instead of using the standard Access Point provided by the Mobile Operator i.e. Orange Internet - by doing this, I assume I would incurr no charges from Orange when surfing the Internet as I am using my own Broadband connection?
A seperate question, but related, how does the Packet Data transfer work? My default Access Point for this is Orange Internet, is this a different thing to the WLAN Access Point i.e. my Home Network or is is related? Does the Packet Data work when I'm connected to the Internet or is it mainly for messaging etc? Should I change the default Access Point for this to my Home Network or leave it as it is i.e. Orange Internet?

    Hi sj219706
In answer to your first question, there are no further costs incurred using WLAN with your Virgin Media Broadband connection.
With regards your second question it depends a little upon how generous your GPRS = General Packet Radio Service data allowance with Orange is.
Can I use Nokia Maps application as an example? Unless disabled an active network connection is needed, this may either be through GPRS(Orange) or WLAN(Virgin Media). If you are within range of your WLAN this is your preferred access point.

You must first set up your phone configuration. Either by order setting (click here: https://nokiags.wdsglobal.com/standard?siteLanguageId=118 and follow the instruction) or use your default setting (already available on your phone)

  • Belle: No WLAN and Packet Data log.Filter options ...

In Nokia N8, with Symbian Anna, WLAN and Packet Data logging wasn't possible, even though there were options in the log filtering settings.
    See below:

After updating to Belle, log isn't still working, and both WLAN and Packet Data options were removed from filter options.

I am trying to get onto the wap using a Nokia 7373 i have has my settings set via Nokia but its saying ' subscribe to packet data first' what is this and how do i do it?
    Many Thanks

Once you are downloading and installing the GPRS from your Service Provider you are subscribing the Packed Data. The full form of abbreviated GPRS = General Packed Data Radio Service. Your problem is a problem with "Configuration" in the Handset. All you need to select NO from PERSONAL CONFIGURATION SETTING by following the path : Main Menu>Settings>Configuaration>Personal Configuration Settings.
Input Data : Personal Account  : JAVA    click the java
    Home Page : www.google.co.in
    User Name : ppp
    Password : ppp123
Use Preferred access point : YES
NOW GO BACK TO CONNECTIVITY Menu item.
    Select : Packet  Data
CLICK THE ITEM    : PCKET DATA SETTING
Put against Active  Access Point : Data Bearer  Packet Data                                                         Put against the item 'Alias for access  point'  :  Data Bearer Packed Data.                                 Put against item 'PACKET DATA ACCESS POINT' :  gprseast.cellone.in

  • Clarification on packet data log

I understand the Packet Data logs can remember upto last 30 days. What I don't
understand is are they rotating logs or do they reset to zero every 30 days. To take
an example: if I use exactly 1MB every day and my log setting is set to 30 days. After
    40 days ...
    - with rotating logs, I'll see 30 MB usage
    - with reset-to-zero logs, I'll see 10 MB usage
So which one is it ? I'm using C5-00 on 032.010 if that matters. Thanks.

TO ANYONE EXPERIENCING THIS PROBLEM I HAVE FOUND A SOLUTION!!!!!
I have had this phone for a week and the WLAN has been very problematic!
To stop the phone from connecting to the GPRS instead of using the WLAN you must...
    - Change all the settings to 'ASK FIRST', this includes the internet connection under connectivity and within the saved WLANS, each must have ask first selected.
    - You must edit the packet data settings (under connectivity), it must say 'when needed' and then you must change the access point to a different point, e.g. Access point , then edit this access point, the alias can be anything (it is just a name), but the access point must be changed to the WLAN access point you are trying to connect to.
To find this access point code you must go to ...
Menu - settings - connectivity - WLAN - available wlans - then click edit on the WLAN you want to use. Look under 'Access point MAC', this should be a long list of numbers and letters separated by colons e.g. 1A:2B:3C:4D:5E:6E.
This works at home because you can save the WLAN and use the preferred access point, to make this work for 'hot spots' you will probably have to write down the access point code from the WLAN you want to use and create a new access point and change access points when you are using a different connection.
This works by saving specific access points to available WLAN locations.

  • Sorting serial packet data into queues

I am receiving serial packet data which originates from different sensor nodes in a network. Each sensor node
has a unique ID which is sent in the packet. The idea is to display the data in one chart and choose which sensor data to display
by using a cluster of booleans. I was thinking of using queues to buffer the data from single nodes, so for a network of 12 nodes
I would need 12 queues and use a simple case structure to decide to which queue the element should be enqueued. Does this approach
make sense or is there a simpler way to solve this problem?

That seems reasonable.  You certainly need 12 of something for the data from the separate sensors. If the number of sensors can change, a 2D array might be better because you do not need to duplicate anything (such as adding another queue) to add a sensor.  However, arrays must be rectangular so if different amounts of data are received from different sensors, some method of keeping track what data is valid for each sensor will be required. The data from each sensor could be in a different row.
You probably want to use a graph, not a chart.  When you switch the display to a different sensor, you just wire that array row for that sensor to the graph.  Charts have an internal hsitory buffer and would be much more complicated to switch.
