N70 texting ?! makes it crash!
Hi, I have had my N70 for a few months now and the hings that have been annoying me have nearly all been answered on here (start up tone that you can't turn of, no auto keylock etc)
The only other thing is this: when writing a text, if you type ?! with predictive text on, the phone freezes completely every time. The only way round it is to turn it off although on occasion not even that works - this morning I had to take the battery out.
This is so annoying... please don't tell me not to put ?! in my texts cos I use it a lot!!!
Can anyone help please... thanks
Does "?!" always do it? If doesn't happen on my phone, for what it's worth.
What's your (T9 dictionary) writing language? What's your phone language? Does changing them have any effect?
Or, to use more drastic measures, does it clear if you reset the dictionary by deleting the file C:\System\Data\PTIT9UDB0f.DAT on the phone with the FExplorer utility program?
You can get FExplorer from:
http://www.gosymbian.com
If that's not enough, my next try would be reformatting the phone:
http://my-symbian.com/7650/faq/showquestion.php?fldAuto=29&faq=4
If even that's not enough, I'd try having a Nokia service/repair center update the phone software (firmware). You can try to locate your nearest repair center here:

Copying Text Variables still crashes In Design CS6
Copying Text Variables text boxes still crashes InDesign CS6 (or makes the program unresponsive) as they were in CS5. Any solution?
Hey thank you osgood for the reply!
When I look at code for long hours it sort of blurs together, and I miss things... I think that happens to the most of us
Ya I found what was blocking my text fields in my desktop.css
I primarily work through code view, and currently working on quite a few projects kind of makes your eyes miss the small errors.
Thanks again! -
Re-threading text causes InDesign crash
What makes InDesign CS3 crash when I'm rethreading text? Does anyone know? I've asked this question before but have not gotten a response.
My fonts are in good shape. I'm still using Tiger, I have tons of RAM. So those things are not at issue.
Here's my workflow: I have a long text that's flowing in boxes, but I want to rethread it into a different set of box threads. The new set is already set up, empty text boxes in a template, threaded. So all I want to do is click on the out-port of the old boxes and click inside the empty new boxes and have the text pop in there. Pretty simple, no? BUT 90% of the time the minute I click on the new empty box, InDesign crashes. I'm trying to figure out what's making it do that because there's about 10% of the time when it doesn't crash.
Does it matter if the box into which the text is being threaded has any guides going across?
Does it matter what font and/or font size is specified in the new box? For example if the font size is way over what could fit into the box size, would that make InDesign crash?
Is something entirely different causing this behavior?
Any insight into this would be much appreciated.
Thanks!
ScarlettIf you dont like linking text boxes - I don't like to link a lot as its time consuming! I use InDemand from www.mymacmac.com to flow in text. it has some sort of intuitive placement scheme that allows you to declare which text frames are live and then place, collect or clear their contents in human readable order.
Saved me - I hated having 48 linked product text boxes - this means i can move the text and images about the page to where I want and the box is treaded as if it was in a new link order. -
Phone is searching...cannot text, make or receive calls
I have powered off and back on and it's still doing the same thing. I have an unlimited data plan, but cannot get onto the internet either. However, I can connect to the wifi at my work and am receiving emails and can get online. Still cannot text, make or receive calls.
Were you able to resolve this issue? Mine did the exact same thing 3 weeks ago. Took it into the Diamond Wireless Premier Provider Kiosk where I had purchased and signed up...after powering down, going to plane mode and trying a reset - nothing happened. They sent a new one to me and alas after another week...same thing. They're sending another one - I'm tired of this happening.

PE 13 crashes due to incompatible video driver detected. Running on Win 7 SP1 with ATI 540v video card/driver. Deleting bad driver file in adobe program data does not fix the problem, it simply replaces the text file and crashes again. My video driver is just fine. Any help out there?
rb
Your video card driver may be fine for something, but just not compatible with Premiere Elements 13/13.1.
For those with the display card error, the answers include
a. assure your video card/graphics card driver version is up to date according to the web site of the manufacturer of the card -
if necessary consider a driver roll back.
b. determine in Device Manager/Display Adapters if the computer is using 2 cards instead of 1
c. delete the BadDrivers.txt file
the rationale for that deletion is found in post 10 of the following older post...principle applies to 13 as well as 9.
Re: Premiere Elements 9 Tryout Serious Display Problem
Have you looked for computer ATI card settings that might be more compatible with Premiere Elements 13/13.1?
When is the program crashing - just opening a new project or rather crashing if editing a particular video format at the Timeline level?

Importing Motion into FCE makes it crash
I've been trying to work out some problems with Final Cut Express (FCE). Through a long process I think it may have to do with Motion. FCE was crashing at startup when on cue it said "profiling for RT Extreme. Basically after reinstalling FCE, only sequences without Motion files worked and FCE would crash if I try to drop in or import Motion files.
I've included the posts I made in the FCE discussion:
"I've been using FCE HD for the last two years without any problem. If anything, it was nothing but a little trashing of the preferences ot fix the problem. But yesterday morning, I started FCE up. The startup window with through everything like normal. It reminded me that I didn't have any decks connected. I clicked "Continue". The next thing that it said it was on cue was "Profiling for RT Extreme". I heard the processor sputter and the fan kick in. Saw the bright colored wheel of paralysis and the program crashed. I trashed the preferences and restarted the computer. Later I trashed anything temporal and related to Final Cut Express and zapped the PRAM. I saw on one board that possibly it was the permissions. So I went through and verified and repaired all the disks and permissions. Yet nothing has changed the impeccable crashing. I'm ready to reinstall the software but unfortunately I can't find my disks at all. So anyone got some advice."
"Here's an update and a whole new set of questions:
In effort to get back to work and try to finish a project by tomorrow, I called a friend and got his FCE HD disks, did a full uninstall, a full reinstall, and used my password. It started up just fine. I got my plug-ins and settings up and running and then started to work again, thinking all was fine. Opening any recent project made it crash immediately. I worked backwards through my autosave until I found a file that opened (which was hours of editing before all this happened). So I opened it, did some quick rendering. Then this project had a few Motion files that weren't in the project yet, so I tried to import them. Immediately the system crashed. Any Motion file will make it crash. Though, they open fine in Motion. So this makes me wonder if the reason it was crashing before is based on the Motion files which may have been a problem for FCE and its "Profiling For RT Extreme". So maybe why my sequences would make the system crash is based on the Motion files within in them. Hmmm. Any ideas on this Motion sickness?Export it as a movie file with the settings consistent with your sequence settings

Importing avi movies from my Canon camera makes iPhone crash
Every time when i make some movies with my Canon camera (Powershot S2 IS) and I want to import them, together will all my pics on my camera, into iPhoto it makes iPhot crash from the point where it is importing the first AVI movie it comes across.
Now I've successfully imported the movies onto my harddrive now using the Image Capture program, but still when I want to import the movies from my harddrive into iPhoto, or even when i want to play them in Quicktime, it makes iPhoto crash, and also Quicktime crashes when i'm trying to view the movie in there.
can somebody point me to an alternative solution or tell me what's wrong and what i need to fix in order to fix it?Thanks. I'd love to install that one, but i've heard some stories that this piece of software does quite some harm to some things. I dont remember where i read that or what harm it would do. but i'm sure i've heard it someone say.
can you confirm this? or do you still very much recommend me to install this? -
The little 'E' that was next to my signal bars has dissapeared and now i can't send texts, make calls or go on the internet. WHY? HELP!
As suggested make sure "cellular data" is ON and you have valid cellular data plan.
That "E" sign only shows the network (Edge) or 3G (if you are in the 3G network), but it has no relation to you not been able to make regular calls or sending regular texts with network signal (in the form of bars) being present.

Copy filter forward makes FCP crash
Just wanted to report that when I apply the 3-way CC effect and try to copy the filter forward, it makes FCP crash, and it won't reopen until I restart the computer.
Trash FCP preferences using this free tool: http://www.digitalrebellion.com/prefman/
Repair permissions on your boot drive.

Topic kinda says it all; any websites which contains flash makes firefox crash. I believe the problem started 1-2 days ago. I'm clueless, I don't remember there has been any related updates.
I've tried to move ~/.mozilla somewhere else, and reinstall flashplugin, which not fixed the problem.
Oh yeah.. opera DOES NOT crash with flash.
Thanks in advance.Sander wrote:

Aha! That's what I do, yes. Is there anything I can do against this, except for not wrapping it with aoss? Because I quite like how software mixing worked out of the box for me on arch
I described it here: http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php? … highlight=

It would be nice if someone would add a howto or smth to set firefox to use sound with dmix -
Clearing history list makes Compressor crash
Selecting all your completed jobs (Shift-Down Arrow or Cmd-A or drag with the mouse) in the History window, and then hitting the Delete key, makes Compressor crash. As far as I can remember it is when jobs are split amongst multiple days. But I am not 100% sure.
My setup is iMac i7, OSX 10.6.2, Compressor 3.5.1 (FCS3)
I'd be interested to know if someone else can replicate this. Here it is.
I am not familiar with crash reports. Let me know if the extract below is incomplete.

Clicking on Animated Text makes Captivate 5 project crash
Consistent behavior. I wanted to add some animated text to a slide and when I attempt to insert it, CRASH!! every time. Has anyone else come across this and found a solution? What is my best solution for salvaging all the work. Already tried save as a different file name--no luck.
5.0.3.631, Windows 7 Professional 32-bit
Update: Downloaded the trial version of 5.5 and installed it. Same behavior. So my file has become corrupt somehow. Can I export the content to another file? All text animations were created with Captivate 5, but I will try your suggestion anyway. Thanks.
P.S. It's strange that it only crashes when inserting animated text. -
Text-to-speech crashes at the same point in a document when trying to create an audio file
I like to convert text to audio (large documents), and have been doing this using a 3rd party app for a long time now. The app sometimes crashes at a specific point in a text (i.e. it always crashes at the same point no matter where I start from). The TTS also has, at times crashed even if I am just using hot keys to read a segment outloud. At times, this live-use crash prevents me from using tts until I reset my computer. Just recently realized I can use an automator action to convert a text to audio without using a 3rd party app. The automator action also crashes and, after it does so, automator app won't open again without reseting my computer.
By the way, I have only had my shuffle for 3 months
and it is doing this. Are problems this soon normal
or did I get a dud?
I have only had a Shuffle for one week. I returned the first one to the store after a few days and they gave me another which appears to do exactly the same thing. My hunch is that it is not time-related; indeed, I cannot think of anything in the Shuffle that would change over time in this way, as it has nothing to "wear out" per se (except switches and a battery).
I do not hear any pops on mine - it just stops neatly at the end of a random song. Yesterday it went a very long time (about 4 hours) before this happened.
Mu hunch is that it is tied to the "randomizing" function within the Shuffle. When you use a playlist in random mode, every iPod effectively creates an "on the fly" randomized list. Perhaps the Shuffle goofs this up and places some gibberish in the list. This makes sense as the issue appears to be non-existent in the "non-random" mode.
I will try a few more tricks, such as different USB ports and perhaps rebuilding my Library. Seems a pain in the rear for stuff that otherwise works fine!
