N73 and Vodafone live!

We have just taken delivery of a brand new SIM free N70 and N73.
Both came pre-configured for GPRS with 4 access point options: Vodafone Internet GPRS; Vodafone live!; Vodafone live!streaming; Vodafone MMS.
On selecting Vodafone live on the N70, the handset connects to Vodafone live! and displays content no problem.
On selecting Vodafone live! on the N70, the handset displays 'Connecting via Vodafone live!, and then displays a white page with a progress bar at the top. The progress bar progresses briefly and then an error message is displayed: 'WEB: unsupported content type". The screen remains white with no content.
I have spoken to Vodafone, who have sent me a text message to re-configure my GPRS settings via the Nokia web site. This I have done. I have also switched off the N73 for 20 mins as instructed by Vodafone.
The problem remains.
Vodafone have now said it is a fault with the handset!
However, I can access the Nokia site via the Vodafone GPRS access point.
The same problem occurs if I choose Vodafone WAP as my access point.
I would be very grateful if some body could shed some light on this issue?Message Edited by william_bell on 10-Aug-2006

+++ UPDATE 2 +++
On checking the available settings between the N70 & N73 and between the two different access methods on the N73 (web & services) I have noticed some differences...
N70: Access point/Show images and ob.../Font size/Default encoding/Automatic bookmarks/Screen size/Home page/Search page/Volume/Rendering/Cookies/java-ECMA scripts/Security warnings/Serial No sending/Conf. DTMF sending
N73 Services: Access point/Home page/Load imgs & sounds/Font size/Default encoding/Auto bookmarks/Screen size/Search page/Rendering/Cookies/java-ECMA scripts/Security warnings/Conf. DTMF sending
N73 Web: cess point/Home page/Load imgs & sounds/Default encoding/Auto bookmarks/Screen size/Mini map/History list/Cookies/java-ECMA scripts/Security warnings/Block popups
What is most notable is that what appear to be two main settings - Rendering & Conf. DTMF sending - are present in the N70 & N73 Services both of which work; but are not present in the N73 Web, which does not work.
Could this suggest that there may be an error in the Nokia software?

  • BB 8700v and Vodafone Live

    Hello
I live in France. I have bought a new BlackBerry 8700v on eBay with all his accessories in a box; it has an azerty keyboard. No sim card in it. So I take a subscription at SFR who send me a sim card. In my subscription a connection to the web was include. But my smartphone says  : Failed to connect to the internet, java.io.IOException Open tunnel - failure.
So, I've call SFR who says that a software element is absent in my phone : Vodafone Live. I say OK, can you install it ?  They answer no, you must to adress to BlackBerry service, we can't help you !
This is the reason of my mail to you, because actually with my BlackBerry, I only receive and sent phone calls : it's poor for a such smartphone...
Since a year, I try to find on the Net this famous software Vodafone Live, but I don't find the least downloading. I'm ready to pay a subscription in order to get my subscription operational.
    Can you help me ?
Please, excuse my poor English !

well it's exactly like andrewlwood says: just a couple of links per page like "tones" "next>" "home" etc
Yeah, images and sounds was the first thing I checked.
Something like Vodafone's N80 is a Vodafone live handset, I wonder if there's just different version's of nokia's wap browser for these two devices?

  • N70 & Vodafone Live

I've had my N70 for months now, watched TV, enjoyed the games, used the programs, put up with the slowness, etc. I've found it to be a quite nifty phone full of surprises (normally pleasant).
Suddenly three weeks ago Vodafone Live stopped working. It still asks me if I want to connect to the server, YES, then all there is is a white screen with a globe going round in the top bar until the connection times out. I've been in to the Vodafone shop where they said the phone has to be reset, but WHY??? Apparently they get two customers a week coming in with the same problem. Does anybody know what's up? I really don't want to be putting it in to the shop to be fixed, anybody know how to fix the problem?
    Thanks

have you had any luck with this? i have n73 and my net hasnt worked for months now iv even had 2 simcards replaced still no luck whats going on ?

  • Nokia 6120 does not work on Vodafone live!

I purchased the Nokia 6120 classic from the Nokia shop in Slough 2 months ago.
I was informed by the sales representative that I would be able to use all the functionality on the handset – just as if I had purchased it directly from Vodafone!
2 months later I am still unable to connect to Vodafone live. This is because the 6120 is currently an unbranded Vodafone Live handset! Vodafone live is in text format only!
Because the handset is unbranded in the UK – I am unable to use services such as Sky TV, Vodafone mobile TV, Slingmedia, etc, etc.
That’s the last time I jump the gun – next time I’ll wait for Vodafone to support the handset before I purchase.
Not impressed Nokia shop in Slough!!!!!
“Good things come to those who wait”

It's not as simple as buying a sandwich.
The phone is fully compatible with vodafone, it's vodafone live that is not compatible with the phone.
Just because he's a manager does not mean that he will know everything about every network. He probably gave you the answer that he had been lead to believe, and the answer is, yes the 6120 classic is fully compatible with vodafone, which is true.
It doesn't matter how many times you ask, he can only tell you what he knows. They sell sim free phones, not voda branded phones. It's your job to test it as soon as you've bought it.
If I go into a shop and ask a question about an electronic item I will accept their answer, do my research on the net and buy the product. If it turns out the information is incorrect I will return it.
If you had used google as I suggested in my very first post you would have found that there is a way to get voda live fully working on your phone.

  • E71 and Window Live failing

I have installed, reinstalled and rereinstalled Windows Live on my new E71 now, and everytime I try to sign in into Messenger or sync my emails there is a sign in failure.
I do get the warning about cost, how the service is free but might be charged in the future, etc. Then signing in takes a long time and ends in
'sign in failure. We were unable to connect Windows Live Service. Please check your access point and network settings and try again.
I am on Vodafone and use Vodafone Live or a WLAN to access the internet.
Is there anyone that knows how I can make this work?
    Thanks!

Try installing it from here rather than using the download menu.

  • 6700 - problems loading Vodafone Live home-page.

    Situation:
Nokia 6700 bought from the Nokia store in Regents St. (London), then got the Internet settings via SMS from Vodafone (I am on contract with them). All works fine except the Web Homepage (Vodafone Live!) - which looks all screwed up (just a blank page with some text on it).
    Question:
    - Is there anyway I can troubleshoot the existing Vodafone Live homepage? I checked with Vodafone and it seems they wont install Vodafone software/upgrades on it because... there's no such software for 6700 as they dont sell it officially.
    - If no, how do I set up a new Home page? I went back to Nokia store today - they looked at the phone for some 30 minutes but could not come up with anything.
    - Also: shall I insist to have the phone sent to a Vodafone repair centre and have software installed on it - or will that be just a waste of time?
    Thanks!
    D.
    Thanks

it's normal for Vodafone live not to work sim free/non branded handsets unless purchased from Vodafone directly.
To be honest. Your not missing much on there.
i think it would be an idea to ask the team at vodafone (ignore the call centre there e-forum staff are a billion times more than helpful.) http://forum.vodafone.co.uk/
    Hope that helps

  • Connecting to Vodafone Live on N95

    Hi,
Wonder if anyone can point me in the right direction with this enquiry?
I bought an unlocked Nokia N95 (not 8GB - older version) My contract is with Vodafone. I stuck-in the SIM and booted it up. I can find my home wireless network and connect to the internet but I have no idea how to connect to the internet on the road?
It was originally an O2 phone and everything seems to be preset to connect to O2 WAP. Have tried menu/tools/settings/connections/access points/new access point ... but then I'm guessing the settingf for Vodafone WAP??
    Any advice would be appreciated!

Easier to programme them in manually...
Go create a new connection in Tools>Settings> Connection> access points.
    Enter following details
Setting name: Vlive! or Vodafone live! depending what you prefer
    Data bearer: packet
    Access point name: vlive
    username: none
    password: none
    Authentication: normal
    Homepage: http://live.vodafone.com
    Options>advanced settings
    Network type: IPv4
    Phone IP address: auto
    DNS address: auto
    Proxy server: 196.6.128.12
    Proxy port: 8080
Save and use this access point to connect up.

  • Can't access Vodafone Live! anymore on my Vodafone...

It happend when i installed a user certificate.. exp.cer
I deleted the file but still i can't access the Vodafone Live portal..
Don't ask me wherefore i needed the certificate, coz i don't know anymore but i shall attach the file if that helps solving.. (BUT don't use it on your own phone!!)

But anybody got an answer to this?
coz when i post something on a forum for help its serious wrong and tried everything hehe
    grtz

    Hi Ivan,
The devices I would like to access AFL Live premium video on are my iPhone 6 and my iPad Air so we are only talking about iOS devices.
The iPad Air is brand new. I am not contemplating resetting it to factory default. Everything else is working as I would expect. If deleting and reinstalling the AFL Live app made no difference then I don't expect that resetting the device to factory default will make any difference.
I know that it should be ok by using the same Apple ID to get it working on the iPad but the fact that it is not is the reason why I have posted in this forum.
I am able to login to the AFL Live app on the iPad and it is identifying me correctly. Immediately beneath where is says "Welcome MATTHEW" in the top left hand corner, on the iPhone it says "My Account" and on the iPad it says "Subscribe". This is clearly a bug either with the AFL Live app or with the retrieval of user information from Telstra. I have been paying for a service that I have not been receiving. I appreciate your assistance in trying to resolve this issue but it may need to be escalated to a higher technical level.

  • Nokia 2650 & Vodafone Live!

I've just bought a Nokia 2650 unlocked with no sign of it having been a locked to a specific provider in that there is no operator logo.
I downloaded the settings from Nokia to access Vodafone Live and when I try to connect it says subscribe to GPRS first? My sim is an updated one and has accessed voda live before.
Thinking it was the phone, I then downloaded settings for o2 Active and got onto the web no problem at all.
Does anyone know why I can't access Voda Live?
    Help much appreciated.
    Thanks.

    Hi 0122768393
Have you looked in Menu > Settings > Connections > Destinations and checked access points under "Internet" and "Uncategorised"? You may need to move or change priority of an access point.

  • N73 and Bluetooth problems

    Hello,
I have recently purchased a N73 on Vodafone.
Just tried to connect it to two different bluetooth headsets but neither one is detected.
I have checked the bluetooth settings on my phone and bluetooth is switched on, phone is visible etc, but still no joy.
One of the headsets I tried worked fine with my old phone (6610i) and the other headset is brand new (OK it is stamped with O2 on it, but I'm sure it should still work).
    Any ideas?????

I have a new N73 with the latest firmware (I checked today) and a Nokia 610 car kit.
I can successfully pair the 610 with the N73 but am unable to download the contacts from the handset. The Nokia support pages show a download application for a variety of handsets, but not the N73.
Did you manage to download your contacts and, if yes, how did you do it?

  • Vodafone live! doesnt work work wlan

im using n95 8g and i cant connect to vodafone live when accessing internet through a wlan also same with music station
are these services only avaliable on 3g ?

The Vodafone live service is only accessible via a GSM/WCDMA connection as it utilises a special APN. The reason for this is that the network is then able to identify those units and allow them to browse the Vodafone live site for free. The "vlive" APN is unrestricted for Vlive content viewing.
Therefore if you use WLAN to access the sight more than likely the network would reject the request as it is unable to identify your device as being a intruder or a N95-2 8GB.
WLAN is mainly for use in downloading e-mails, browsing normal web content or using VoIP. It can also be used succesfully in a home network settup to display images etc on a compatible TV.
I hope this answers your question.

Now restart, go back into connectivity settings and in internet- options-new access point, select automatically check for available access points, select packet data, name it whatever you like, and use that.
