N73 bluetooth GPS receiver connectivity problem

I have read many posts regarding the connection drop issue between the N73 bluetooth and GPS receiver. Now everybody is waiting to upgrade to new firmware version. I was just wondering, if just the connectivity is the problem, then is there any GPS receiver which you can conncet to N73 with some cable?? At least you will not loose the connection if at all you managed to install the navigation software.

Hi forgive my simple question but what is the difference between a LD3W and an LD4W bluetooth reciever as I would like to run either with my N73

  • Bluetooth GPS Receiver + MacBook. Any software?

I just purchased a BT2 Bluetooth GPS Receiver. Is there a software for Mac OS X that I could use to receive live tracking on my MacBook, instead of a PDA?

I am also interested in setting up the Macbook with a bluetooth GPS receiver for use in the car or when sailing.
So far I have searched around but haven't found any software with offline maps included.
The best solution (and cheapest) so far I have found is to use Google Earth and increase its cache size. Then I guess you can run the route beforehand so the roads and images are stored offline ready for use.
Is there a standalone package with roadmaps (for the UK/Europe) built in for offline use?
This must also be able to connect to a the bluetooth GPS receiver. Has anyone got any recommendations for these too?
    Thanks,
    Neil

  • Dual Universal Bluetooth GPS Receiver and 3rd Gen iPod Touch

Has anyone used the Dual  Universal Bluetooth GPS Receiver with a 3rd Generation iPod Touch?  I understand that the Bluetooth connection only works for the headphones so I was wondering how this unit uses the Bluetooth connection.  Does it work?

I was looking for a way to get around that, as it sounds plausible. But i have had iTunes on a previous machine here at the office and it worked fine. Right now, the only option i have in iTunes with it connected is to "eject" the ipod. Not neccesarrily an error # message, but one does come up that says "iTunes could not connect to the iTunes Store. Make sure your network connection is active and try again"
as for restoring at home, it just goes through the motion on the progress bar, but when it reaches around 100% it says "failed to restore. ___" i cant remember the rest as i was up til 2am, and back awake at 6am trying to figure this out...
Last night, there was no battery icon, and the screen stayed illuminated in recovery mode...i updated iTunes, and restarted my laptop at home, and now this morning the screen times out and dims, and there is all of a sudden a battery charging icon in the upper right corner. It would not "power down" at all last night...there was no "power off" slide option after holding the button(s)....this morning it will power off.
It also wouldnt connect to my car radio this morning like it would last night when i came home. The radio doesnt even recognize it anymore.
here is a quick screenshot of what i see...nothing...with it plugged up...

  • Mac Air use with Bluetooth GPS receiver.

GlobalSat BT-821 appears to meet the specs and claims to work with Apple but online forums are littered with compatibility problems, though most appear to be iPad and iPhone specific. Mac Air doesn't get a mention.
Anyone got any advice on choice of receiver?

ExtGPS does the job. Should be operable with most mapping applications.
Works even with two E90's, other one running Nokia Maps and using other as external GPS over Bluetooth

  • Bluetooth keyboard (white) connection problems...

    Hi
When I switch my iMac on, I cannot use my BT keyboard. It does not appear in the Bluetooth menu. However, if I set up a new device, I am able to use my keyboard again by going into the Bluetooth Setup Assistant, selecting keyboard and then entering the number. The keyboard is then discoverable again, until next time I turn on my iMac.
    Very frustrating!!
As the keyboard works fine after using the Setup Assistant, I guess this is a software issue?
This only appeared to be a problem after installing 10.4.8. and security update & daylight saving update.
    Anyone got any more ideas?
Also, as another issue. Occasionaly my mouse re-names itself to one of the user account names. Does anyone have any solutions to this? It's not a great problem, as the mouse works, just interested if others have noticed the same.
    Phil
PS. I am using an old USB keyboard in the meantime, just to keep me going. I have 5 user accounts on my iMac, so I need a keyboard to log in.
PPS. Does anyone know if Apple are dealing with this?

  • Can I use an external GPS Receiver via Bluetooth?

Great phone.  I used a Galaxy Nexus for over a year until I got this phone, but once I started using the Z10, I never looked back.  The "Hub" is a GREAT feature, exactly what I use most of the time.  Oddly enough, I was never much of a BB fan until the Z10.
Anyhow, I have bought several apps and accessories for the Z10.  I rely on my Z10 a lot.
I still have (from my old Windows Mobile 6 phone days back several years ago) a perfectly working external GPS receiver that has Bluetooth (Holux GPSlim236).  Great little receiver.
Since I often use my Z10 for GPS nagigation (I am using Mireo DON"T PANIC) for directions whilst riding my motorcycle all day long, with Bluetooth enabled to my helmet, having the GPS radio on as well as Mobile (aka phone) and Bluetooth does drain the battery faster than if I could avoid using the internal GPS at this time (I still want to use the internal GPS at other times).  I do have a data plan, so I could use the internal maps, however, I often ride through places with no data access (back country).
I was able to pair the Bluetooth GPS Receiver to the Z10 (easy enough), however, there is no option in the "Network Connections" settings area to be able to disable the internal GPS radio, or anywhere else, so I can't tell for sure that this is working (that is, not using internal GPS but using external GPS).  I suspect it is not using the external GPS Receiver, though, since Bluetooth settings indicate "no services" for the external Bluetooth device.
Is there a way to sometimes use the external Bluetooth Receiver on the Z10 (in order to save battery on long trips)?
It is also not just for battery power savings, but also when I ride there is no air conditioning, so the phone does get hot, and I suspect would be cooler if I used an external GPS receiver via already-enabled-anyways Bluetooth.
    Thanks

I am not sure my original message was clear.
I have th Z10, it has GPS software and a built-in GPS radio receiver.  I also have an external GPS radio receiver, not a GPS device.  It is strictly a radio receiver.  I used to use it years ago on my Windows Mobile device - the software with maps was on Windows Mobile, and the GPS receiver hooked up via Bluetooth.
The GPS receiver in the Z10 uses the Z10 battery.  I have the Bluetooth on anyhow to connect to my helmet headset.  Since Bluetooth is on already, I could save Z10 battery by using the external GPS radio receiver (disable the internal GPS radio receiver), thought the map software would still run on the Z10.
So, the previous response says "does have GPS profile" but also says "external GPS will not work:".
I am not sure the statement was respect to my setup.
What I really need is for the Z10 Bluetooth to see the external GPS receiver, perhaps as a serial  device or as a GPS device, howsoever such things work, and for the GPS map software to use the external rather than try to use the internal (the map software should not really care, it should be the OS that virtualises the GPS port).

  • SmartcomGps on Nokia 6220 - connectivity problem

    Hello everyone,
I've got a Nokia 6220 and have been trying to use its GPS by SmartcomGps 1.56. Hopefully, my GPS antenna works properly. And I'm able to see GPS is working properly by going to Menu -> Applications -> GPS data -> Options -> Satellite status, in which Nokia shows me at least 5 satellite bars.
But I'm having problems by Smartcom connectivty. When I choose to connect in Smartcom, Nokia 6220 starts searching for a Bluetooth device instead of a satellite. Does anyone have any idea to fix this problem?
    Thanks in advance.

  • N95 8GB with external GPS receiver

Not being too happy with the internal receiver on my N95 I bought and external one (HBTGPSOL BT Solar GPS Bluetooth GPS Receiver by Hamletcom.com).
It is very easy to connect by bluetooth but I cannot figure how to switch the phone from using the internal receiver to the bluetooth one.
    Any ideas ???
Message Edited by linwood on 23-Jun-2008 12:15 PM

You will get a meassage asking you whether or not you want to activate bluetooth everytime you run Maps. If you say yes, it goes to bluetooth if you say no it goes to the internal GPS receiver.
There is no real need to disable the others.

  • Recommendations for Bluetooth GPS for N95

Has anyone got any recommendations for a Bluetooth GPS receiver (to improve the dire performance of the inbuilt one) available in UK?

I bought the Nokia N95 8GB for its 'all in one device 'convenience.
I bought an external Bluetooth GPS, not because the inernal was no good, or not accurate enough but because I did not want to destroy it with vibration and rain, strapped to the handlebars of my Yamaha XT225
I want to create tracks (kml?)that map out the roads, lanes and footpaths of Cebu, Philippines using my Motorbike, in places the car could not go.
I decided on the Wintec G-Rays2 (WBT-201). This is more than just a Bluetooth GPS, as it has a 'logger' function also (collecting up to 131,072 waypoints). It is also much quicker at acquisition than the internal GPS (34 seconds or if data is still in memory 4-33 sec).
Even in a car, the WBT-201 G-Rays2 unit, can be positioned on the dash, whilst from anywhere in the car, the N95 receives the NMEA0183 format data stream giving position, speed, altitude and time, together with estimated error and satellite status.
'Sports Tracker' works very well with this for receiving the data stream 'live'. Once 'captured' it has many 'export' formats of the captured information. Test 'Tracks' of the same 'Route' using the internal GPS and another time the WBT-201, show the external unit to be more accurate. Having said that, the internal GPS is actually pretty good at capturing the same track.
The only real 'negative' of the WBT-201, is the 'TMXTool' software (for configuring the settings, on the go, rather than connected to a PC), is for PPC, and not S60. However the 'TimeMachineX' software is OK for 'Windows' use.

  • IPod Touch and Bluetooth GPS?

MCM Electronics is advertising a Bluetooth GPS receiver at http://www.mcmelectronics.com/product/58-13300. Would something like this work with my 3rd generation iPod Touch? If so, what app would I need?
    Steve

The Touch's Bluetooth capability is limited to stereo audio (A2DP) and connecting to other Touches or iPhones for gaming. So no, this device would not pair up with the Touch.
