N73 compared to 3110 Evolve

N73 compared to 3110 Evolve.
I'd like to know which one has faster internet capabilities ?
I have N73 plus some old 2G phones. I'm looking to take part in recycling my older phones and replace them with 3110 Evolve but I'm confused with max. internet connection speeds ?

Part of the answer depends on a few other questions :
1. Are you just going to be browsing on the phone itself? If you are, you won't notice much difference between edge, 3G and HSCSD. Edge gives you up to about 120kbps (realistic). 3G up to 384kbps and HSCSD gives maybe 10 times that speed.
However browsing on the phone itself you're restricted by the size of the screen, and the quality of the rendering.
2. If you're using it as a USB/bluetooth/PC modem, then the faster speeds of the 3110 should make a slightly better browsing experience than the N73.
3. Which network are you on? If you're on O2 in the UK, you won't notice a blind bit of difference in speed unless you complain to customer services.
4. Got a decent data tariff? If not, the bills will be rather expensive ....

  • Nokia 3110 Evolve

    Hi!
I live in Sweden and _really_ want to get a Nokia 3110 Evolve, but none of the stores I have been to or mailed have it. I even got one answer that the model will not be available in Sweden at all. Is that true?
Is there any way for me to still get the phone (by buying it online from Finland for example)? If yes, will it have a Swedish interface, with a Swedish auto-complete lexicon? (And if not, is it possible to somehow get the right language software from a regular 3110 Classic?)
    Regards,
    Sofia

ask around your major retailers in your country. go into their phone shops and ask them, and if they do not sell the model, then ask the sales staff in the phone shops where they might be sold. failing that, contact Nokia directly and/or check online shops for the model

  • Suggest improvements for nokia n73 and other devic...

Nokia n73 is the most succsesful device ever made by nokia. But you noticed that the images taken by the n73 are little blury and the video is also poor. If theres is nothing harware problem why not nokia fix theme with software update. Why not nokia try to make n73 just like n78. This will be great if nokia update n73 software and fix the problem. N78 also powerfull device but its buttons make it lazy. N78 will be more greater if its button replaced with bigger and esiar. And the improved new device will launched n78i.

I would not bother getting a nokia at the moment.....
If you can live without nokia drive for now then i would hold back for atleast 6 months and see what happens.
Nokia have slipped down the chain a bit and are not as almighty as they use to be.
There are loads of probs with the Lumia 800 and the 710 is not all that good compared to nokia's of old.
I got the 710 because of nokia drive and it is no where near as good as the old Ovi navigation...
In fact the whole phone is a let down....with poor camara, poor sat nav, poor speaker and poor battery...
The Actual phone is a nice design and the screen is not bad...WP7.5 looks interesting but still needs a lot of work to catch up with the others.
Not sure what the Omnia is like...but if i knew then what i know now about the 710 i would of gone for the HTC Radar and just used my N8 for Sat Nav.

  • Comparing two XML Schemas

    Hi All,
I want to compare two versions of the same XML Schema. I am working with Oracle 10g XML DB. I think we have something in 11g but I am constrainted to 10g.
    Requirement:
    1. I start afresh and register the XML Schema and also insert XML documents compliant to that schema in my XMLTYPE table.
    2. Now after some time, I need to add a new element. So, I modify the XML Schema and write the XSLT for its addition to XML documents and do a CopyEvolve(). Let us assume, I have a script for this.
    3. Now if accidentally, I rerun the script, I may run into errors as the element is already there.
So, I thought I should find the differences between the new version of the schema and the old version and if there are differences apply the XSLT and also evolve the schema. How do we do this?
Also, Can we generate the XSLT automatically based on the two versions of XML Schema?
    Thanks
    Ramesh

XML Schemas are just XML documents.
Compare the XML Schemas using the XDK's XMLDiff class and generate the XSLT from the differences.

  • Displaying email addresses on N73

    Dear All,
I am just getting the hang of my new N73 (great device). I use the email facility quite a bit and have found that when you select a name from the address book it does not show the actual email address. Unfortunately, I have a couple of friends with the same name so I would like to view the email address before hitting send.
Any ideas / suggestions would be great.
    Cheers,
    John
PS This is my first Nokia and I am baffled why the phone doesn't display the name of someone calling me, when I have the same phone number against two names - surely displaying either would be better than displaying neither. My old (non Nokia) just displayed the first alphabetically.

Nah - it will never display the name when it's in twice, saves a whole load of confusion lol
All I can suggest for the email problem is to rename the contacts, so it's more obvious and easier to identify which one's which

  • N73 v3.0704.1.0.1 vs v4.0726.2.0.1

Comparing the last firmware released (v4.0726.2.0.1) with a older one (v3.0704.1.0.1), these are proven to be the main Pros & Cons:
    Pros:
    - The Music Player from N73 ME
    - New RealPlayer version
    - New Quickoffice version
    - "Search" app with plugins
    - "Web", "Download!" & "Services" are grouped in a new folder called "Internet"
    - Better memory management
    - Stereo Bluetooth A2DP profile
    - FOTA support under "Device Mgr."
    - Switching between White balance modes (Sunny, Cloudy, Incandescent, Fluorescent) are visible in the preview window
    Cons:
    - Music Player starts by default with the phone OS
    - A blinking cursor that appears in the right on the active call baloon
    - No more "Snakes"; even worse, after installing this game manually from N95 support page the device needs about 85 seconds to boot-up
    - No more 3D Effects and other sounds
    - No more support for bluetooth GPS receivers under third party apps like Tom-Tom and Route66; the older v3.0704.1.0.1 used to have this kind of support
    - Camera focus & shutter sounds are very louder and a second late than the real focus/shutter moments
    - In Close-up mode, the distance between the camera and the subject now is way bigger (at least 8 - 10 cm)
Nokia, hope you preserve the Pros and fix the Bugs in your next FW release.

Thanks Dj_nick I appreciate your reply. Just a note to you all. Yet another opinion here to add to the vast amount.
I find the update grand. Phone is MUCH quicker loading the memory, loading the camera, or most noticable of all is browsing the gallery. the pictures load up twice as fast when cycling through the gallery. The small camera is definitely much better. less noise. Have not taken any big pics off the phone onto the PC yet but they look good in the phone and the size looks fine. not too small in KB at all.
Thats my experience of the new package. All my apps were on my memory card not my phone memory so no hassle restoring them. Im delighted with 4.07. Im sorry to hear some of you are having the sat nav issues. hope it gets sorted for you soon.
If you don't have sat nav and are just concerned about the camera etc, go for it. looks perfect to me and I take tons of pics. I've heard its sharper too, but no idea till I examine my pics on PC. the music player is better too for you non ME phones like mine. You can now seek through a track and the feel is more like an mp3 player than before.
    Hope this helps.

Nokia has decreased the volume level due to European Union health regulations. Apple's new iPods are also coming with decreased volume.  I know this really sucks,
ok, But this is my phone and my ears, Right?
i know that it shouldn't be loud
so i well make the loud low
but some times i need to make it loud, for just me i'm free of doing wut i want
    just like cigarets and alchol
finally i'm not under the European Union health regulations

  • Nokia 3110 Classic does not work with Peltor Bluet...

    Hi!
At work I must use a high quality hearing protection headset. I purchased a Peltor Bluetooth A2DP headset (which costs five times the price of the phone) and a Nokia 3110 Classic phone, which would have been a good phone if it had worked properly with the headset. The phone fails to initialize Bluetooth connection almost every time I switch the headset on. When the initialization goes right, then it usually works, but sometimes I can only use A2DP music or phone. Both cannot be used, the other function remains silent. Sometimes the music palyer software jams after bluetooth initialization so that I have to restart the phone and load factory settings. I have installed the most recent firmware to the phone.
The headset works OK with other Nokia models I have tried. Are there any new firmware updates coming which could solve these bluetooth problems?
    Thanks,
    Mika

I also bought a Peltor bluetooth headset. I used it with 2 different phones (n73 and n96) and had problems with the connection on both phones. For example every time I turned off the headset, I had to pair the devices again. I also have used several other bluetooth headsets with absolutey no problems. So I assumed the problem was on the Peltor headset and sent it for service. I hope it will start to work.

I'm on the v4 firmware, and its still slow though.
Menu speed has improved a little for sure, but most things are still relatively painful, especially when compared to something like a SE K800 (which uses the same darned processor, running at a similar speed, around 200mHz).
I had the ME software on my N73 and had no problems what so ever.

  • N73 (N73ME) camera improvement solution

    Dear All,
I guess I found a good solution to fix blue haze/noise both in video and photo modes (especially at nights). Before capturing just change options to sunny mode and all bluish tint will be gone both in video and photo. For the moment it's the only way to avoid bluish virus, which infected our mobiles. Any comments are welcomed.
    Dear Nokia team,
As I know E90 uses the same camera module as N73. Why there is no bluish virus there? I guess you should use E90's colour processing algorithm for next N73 firmware. Just try this way and will succeed.
    Good luck.

  • N73 & Nokia Map

I have installed Nokia Map on my N73. Also downloaded Map of India from Map Loader.I am using Altina GPS receiver GBT - 709. I have following few questions, can anybody help me !
    1) When I travel and watch the road (india) I find that the GPS position is offset by about 200 meters but by and large it follows the road (but not on road) What could be the reason ? I had compared the coordinates of a specific location by using one GARMIN device and Lon / Lat are correct. Yhis implies that the problem is with map base system.
    2) where do I get a navigation map of Indian city say "PUNE".
    3) I have also installed GARMIN MOBILE XT (2) but it do not detect my Altina GPS receiver it asks for GARMIN GPS receiver. Is there any method by which I can use Altina (NIMA) GPS receiver with GARMIN ?

    1. Could be fault of maps precision or from the antenna!
    2. Maps use Navigon and Teleatlas, so if is not there, maybe does not exist...
    3. I think not

  • N73 and 3G sim - what benefits?

Hi, ive recently got an N73 which ive been using with my old sim card which is about 2yrs old. I was also sent a new "3G" sim card by my service provider O2.
They said i should call and activate it to use 3G services, but noone there actually seems to be able to tell me what 3G services are (apart from video calling).
Can someone advise what are the pros/cons of using this new sim card?
    Many thanks!

    There are advantages and disadvantages...
    Advantages
The internet is quicker over 3G
You can be on the internet and make / receive calls
You can send & receive MMS while on the phone
I'm sure there's other benefits, though can't think off the top of my head...
    Disadvantages
3G significantly increases battery usage - so it won't last as long
Not all areas have a good 3G coverage
    Nothing too bad really...
I've had 3G with o2 for nearly a year now, and I much prefer it.

  • N73 Message Inbox

I've just got my N73 replaced with a brand new one as my old one spontaneously stopped sending texts, and decided to set up all my contacts properly and sync them from my Mac. I've set it in Contacts to display First Name Last Name, but in the message inbox it displays Last Name First Name - where do I change this?
It's really annoying, I don't really want to have to constantly see my friends referred to by last name!
    Thanks.

Thanks for your replies. I am collecting data for a research I am doing comparing simfree vs network/branded handsets. Network/branded handsets tend to be more buggy and have more problems for some reason but your phones are the exception. At least your problem is more of a bug and isn't a really serious problem.
I had a similar problem when I used to sync my old 6230i with my S60 phone. All new entries on the 6230i would be added to the S60 as first name:James Bond. However we have ruled this out as the cause on your phones.

  • N73 video quality vs.N90

I compared the video taken by those to phones and in my opinion the N90 outclass N73 in darker scenes. So i wonder why cant nokia take the same algorithms/software from the N90 to N73 to improve the quality of videofilming with the phone.

Most probably because they intent on keeping N90 as a better video device than N73 while keeping N73 as a better photo device than N90.
