[N73] Contactblocking / barring

Dear people,
I got a problem with my N73, I got many actually, but that doesnt matter. The problem is that if my dad is trying to call me he gets always a message that my phone is not turned on. Nobody else has that except my dad. He is able to send me a sms though. He is also able to call me a few seconds after I called him, but 5 minutes later he gets the message again.
I changed even provider/sim and still the problem occurs. Im almost sure that my dads number is on some sort of blacklist in my phone. I have no idea where to look. The problem also occurs when I put my sim in a different Nokia phone..
Does somebody can help me?

Reformatting the phone probably won't achieve anything other than risking losing your data if the same problem occurs in another phone. Have you tried in a phone of another brand?
Either way round, this does look like a network issue. I suggest you give your mobile network operator a call and ask them to run some diagnostics. It could well be that your SIM simply needs updating, which would certainly explain why the same problem occurs in another phone.

All day events on N73

It's great that Nokia N73 syncs with iCal by iSync 2.4, but one thing is very annoying.
All day events are synced as "meeting" starting from 12:00am to 11:59pm.
In iCal, I have a lot of all day events including holidays, so the weekly view is full of black bars covering whole days.
Should it be synced as "notes" as it was when I was syncing with Nokia 6680?

Another request for Apple and Symbian. Please come up with a way to sync notes on iCal event and To Do with Symbian calenders and tasks...

ical is not syncing All-Day events that run across multiple days from my desktop to icloud. If I select all-day instead of a from/to time the event disappears on my desktop calendar.

For when a new firmware for normal N73?

I know there is a new firmware for N73ME, my question is, anybody knows when will be release a new firmware for normal N73, with same improvements like N73ME (or more).

N73 Network Problem or Phone Problem?

Hi,
My phone is a Nokia N73 and I'm very happy with it. However, my problem is, the signal of my phone is full but I'm having a hard time on sending SMS messages when I'm inside the house.
The signal (Bars on the upper left side) are full, which means I have a lot but still can't send and receive.
I receive messages but they are late 30 minutes and above.
What do i do? I love my phone.... =(

Most likely Network problem I had similar problem with my N70 once but then once I got out of that place it worked fine

Problem with N73

Hi Everyone,
I just thought I could try here to find a solution, yesterday my N73 developed a problem, on the main screen, on the bar that indicates you have a missed call or a new message or when the keypad is locked, its directly below the battery meter, everyone know what I mean. Well, yesterday directly under the battery meter a number '2' appeared, it has had some strange repercussions, it has reduced the signal, where I previously usually would get signal, I now get none and cannot make any outgoing calls, everytime I try it says connection error. Its the strangest thing.
Please does anyone know what this is? Thanks

no way how embarrassing, thank you for taking the time for replying a rather frivolous post pluciorx, I was well aware of the second line, but had absolutely no idea that was it, it had just appeared, I dont know how it was activated, but nonetheless thank you very much. Take care.. haha B-)

N73 ME Next Firmware Upgrade Should Have!

Would the next Firmware Update for N73 ME could include the following please?
- 4GB Mini-SD Card Support
- 8 Equalizer Bars (Same as N91)
Updates
- Music Library Does Not Refresh When Music Sent Via Mass Storage
- More Themes Add on
- Video Quality Recording Improved (Like N70 or better)
Can Nokia Moderators please pass this information on to the Nokia Firmware Team please?

Bar code reader problem

when i try to install "bar code reader" in my nokia n73;
i got
'Unable to install - component is built in'
plz help........

I had this on my own N73 too. As did SO many people.
As far as i am aware there is no fix for this.
I think they scrapped it as a project for the N73 and have re-launched it on the N95 and it works on there.

Forcing the N73 to 2G signal (3 network phone)

I have serious issues with the 3G signal where I live despite being in a large town with apparently perfect coverage. I am unfortunately with the 3 Network.
I can change the network settings of the N73 to select the 2G signal (by going to 'manually select network') but within minutes it changes back to the 3G signal-3 tell me this is because the 3G signal is 'stronger' yet the 2G signal is full bars whilst 3G is 1 or zero bars, 2 if you're lucky!
I'd love to force the N73 into 2G mode if that's possible as it would solve the problem. My calls disconnect so frequently here it's appalling (I'm talking about 10 times per call...and at least a minute's worth of breaking up and silence to add to the rest of the problems).

In order to set your phone to 2G network or GSM, goto Tools > Settings > Network
Set the Network mode to GSM, after the phone had rebooted you should now in 2G. In this mode it also helps extend your phone standby time and please be noted that the video call function will not be available.

Full Bar Signal but Unattended

sometimes even if my phone's signal is full bar and when someone tried to call me, they said that my number is unreachable. just like when your phone is turned off or you don't have signal. i tried on my other nokia phone, it doesn't have that problem. Nokia N95-1 RM-159 31.0.017

This could be some hardware problem. But you can try resetting the phone (soft reset, hard reset, deep reset), and upgrading the firmware. If the problem gets solved, well and good. Otherwise, and most probably, you will have to take it to a Nokia Care Center and get it inspected.

Contacts bar on home screen X6

Hello,
I have changed the home menu today just messing about with my phone. When I went to put the home menu back to contacts bar it just goes back to basic (but with no tick to show it is selected). If I highlight contact bar in the menu then select options then set it says (no data). Any ideas. I just downloaded the last software last week and wonder if it is a bug.

Take out battery for some time like 10 minutes, put it back in, turn on, and try to set it to "Contacts bar". (Sorry if you did this already)

N73 firmware update failed but still working?

Few days ago I saw new firmware for N73 is out. Downloaded program, stared to update firmware.
After cca. 90% of progress bar I heard same sound you hear every time you plug in/out your phone over USB cable. My heart almost stopped since I heard stories you must not unplug phone during firmware update, that it will not work after that. Suprisingly software offered me to repeat update process!
I clicked OK and it started all over again.
Once again after reaching about 90% progress bar instalation stopped with same un plugg sound. This time there was no repeat update offer. I tryed everything but update din't work.
I plugged USB out of comp and phone and tryed to turn on phone. I wasn't able to turn in on! Then I took out battery, put it back in and turned on phone.
All worked, menu was in english, but I had option to change it back to croatian again. Installed old programs and they all worked. Voice dialing working, camera working... all working.
What the hell happened?
Why installation stopped on 90% and my phone is working without problems on NEW firmware? Bug in Nokia Firmware update software?

I've understood it's quite normal that the update prosedure may seem to stop even for some minutes and then go on again. The connection between the phone and computer will also break and then reconnect couple of times...
Are you sure, you did wait long enough before unplugging your phone (at least some minutes)?
But if your phone has the new firmware now and everything is working fine so I hope there is no problem!

HELP N73 CRASHING

I have had my N73 for 2 days now. FIrst day no problems to report at all. 2nd day however. The phone does not pick up at signal in most places. Put my sim in another phone and I get full signal. Becuase it doesnt have a signal it shows the 3g sigal and then it starts crashing all the time. I also find it starts crashing when I plug the charger in or sometimes when I take it out. Its driving my crazy! Any idea what I could do? Or shall I just return it!?

I've not installed firefox on my device, I've not yet felt the need to..
I suspect some setting is corrupt.. and you'll have to remove it.. I imagine it is inside the .mozilla folder on your device, but I couldn't say for certain..
You could try opening an x term and running this command
ls -a .mozilla .
and posting the text back here (using the white arrow on the tool bar to allow you to select the text)

N73 3G Video Call

When I try to video call, a message "Number not in use" is displayed with a busy tone. My network setting is set to UMTS, and I'm testing to video call another 3G phone which is also set to UMTS and both have good 3G signal bars.
Does anyone has the same problem?

Thanks for the reply. For more info, I can receive video call. The problem is with the outbound video call from my phone. Ok, I've emailed my operator and will visit it's service center.

N73 ME battery indicator problem

Hi everybody,
I'm happy user of N73 ME but recently I've noticed starnge behaviour of my phone. The battery indicator remains in the same position as after reboot. When its fully charged it will show 100% till it discharge and turn off. If I restart it will change to current charge value. I applied the newest FW, hard erased - it didn't help.
Do you know which part is responsible for this?

It happens on all Nokia phones i think.
If i web browse for a couple of minutes it will still be full bars but when i turn off then on it will show near the correct status.
On my old 6280 the bars dropped from full to 1 bar.
Nothing can *exactly* recognise the batteries status, It's just an estimate or near the actual status of the battery.Message Edited by 6280 on 02-Oct-200708:58 PM
