[N73] Restoring SMS only

Hello.
I upgraded my firmware a couple of days ago and I did a full backup of my phone with Content Copier.
Problem is, I don't want to restore all the stuff I backed up. I only want to restore my SMS from the .nbu file.
Does anyone know if this is possible?

I think that it is not possible. Maybe the next PC Suite version will support that.....

Hi ..I am having 6681,recentely i backup all my sms only ,all went right ,but now when i try to restore the messges ,it shows no result .the restore process went very fast (it took just 5 secs to restore the 3 mb of sms)..when my restart my phone it shows no old messages...Plz help I am using pcsuite version 6.84

is there any error in the backup log? or you can try this tool to extract sms into vMessage then copy them to the phone.

I had an appointment at the genius bar today and they restored my iphone 4 to factory settings. i was told all my texts (SMS and iMessage) were backed up. I was told to open an iTunes and setup the iPhone as a "new phone" rather than restore from my backup file. Does anyone know how I can restore just the SMS/iMessage part of the backup? thanks!

Actually, there's a way to restore deleted SMS directly from iPhone 5/4S/4/3GS.
If you've ever synced your iPhone with iTunes before, there is also another way: to recover from iTunes backup for all iPhones including iPhone 5 and iphone4S. You just need the help from an iPhone text message recovery tool.

1:Connect your iPhone to the computer
At first, please connect your iPhone to the computer and run the program after installing it.

It sounds like you are unable to make any calls, but you can recieve them, and everything else seems to work fine. I recommend you use the troubleshooting in the following article to help you get that resolved, named:
iPhone: Troubleshooting issues making or receiving calls
Follow the steps below to resolve this issue. Please test after each step.
Toggle airplane mode: Tap Settings > Enable Airplane Mode, wait five seconds, then turn off airplane mode.
Check your phone settings:
Check your Do Not Disturb settings: Tap Settings > Do Not Disturb.
Check for any blocked phone numbers: Tap Settings > Phone > Blocked.
See if Call Forwarding is turned on: Tap Settings > Phone > Call Forwarding.
Ensure that your software is up to date:
Check for a carrier settings update.
Check for an iOS software update.
Note: Some updates may require a Wi-Fi connection.
If the iPhone has a SIM card, reseat the SIM card.
If the iPhone 4 or iPhone 4s is on the Verizon network, dial *228 from the iPhone and select option 2 to update the Preferred Roaming List (PRL). The PRL determines the cellular towers the phone uses for cellular service, selecting those with the best signal strength.

Your account is properly configured to use the specific iPhone that has the issue.
There are no localized service outages.
Your account doesn't have a billing-related block.
Your calls don't have errors on the carrier system.
Restore the phone as new.
If the above steps don't resolve the issue, go to an Apple Retail Store, carrier, Apple Authorized Reseller, or contact AppleCare to send the phone in for service.

How do I send SMS only at ALL TIMES with an iPhone to ALL contacts? iOS 8 now forces all Apple users to use iMessage all the time with all other iOS users. The option to send as SMS only is subordinate to iMessage in iOS 8 settings and CANNOT be turned off to send only SMS texts to another iOS device! This is a serious privacy issue for all households using iOS and doing family sharing, including over a number of iOS devices, under one member's Apple ID. Why should business conversations or financial conversations between parents be readable on an iPad in the hands of a teenager or a seven year old? The answer is not as simple as "Just don't enable iMessage on your other devices," because amy family that shares the Apple ID password is vulnerable to teenagers particularly hacking into iMessage to monitor, for example, what their parents are saying. If I were Samsung or Google I would hammer this issue immediately and continually until it is fixed by Apple (and I'm not sure why they haven't yet). iMessage is a convenience but it has this serious limitation given the architecture of the Apple universe. Apple simply cannot force all its users to conduct text messaging in arbitrarily limited way, any more than it was able to force all its users to switch from Google Maps. When will Apple fix this?

Turning off iMessage does not prevent you from sending messages to other Apple users. You can send an SMS to any iPhone without your own iMessage turned on, even if it is turned on on their iPhone.
The SMS-only option is: Turn off iMessage. Literally. That's it.

Time machine restore returns only empty folders

I need to restore several folders with lots of files within. When entering TM, I see the files and folders. Selecting on one or several folders and clicking restore, copies only the first and empty folder over. I can repeat this by going back to TM, this time selecting all the files within the folder and click restore. I get asked for my password and all files are succesfully restored. However, there are many folders with many files and I think TM should be copying folders and there contents. The same happens if I manually try to do a copy and paste via the finder.
Background to this: I had my harddrive replaced on my iMac. During set-up, I restored all my contents from the timemachine backup. No problems here. I had one folder, which I had deleted before the last backup from which I restored the iMac, so went back in time to recover it. Then run into problem above.
Folders and files have rwx permission. I have searched through all the discussions, but not found an answer to this.

Additional information:
When trying to restore the folder and files to a different destination, I get the error code 36, items can't be read or written.
Checking permissions: the folders in TM have drwxrwxrsx. User is correct = me, group is staff (unknown to me and not in my accounts). So it seems a permission problem. Only thing is strange, that I can restore the files one by one.
Have also checked pondini's troubleshooting tips, still not sure as all files. Should I reset the group on the backup disk? or my own iMac. Seems a bit too risky for me.

Why don't you talk to apple and find out if backup exists? That conversation with apple will stop your guessing.

If this program will not get the iPod out of recovery mode then you will have to restore and thus erase the iPod.

What I don't understand is that your iTunes looks different from mine--just a little bit. You have 3 circles, red, yellow, and green, in the upper right end of the top bar. INstead I have a square that is half gray. When I click it, I get a menu very similar to the menu under "File."
The only place I see an entry for "Devices" is under "File," but it only gives the 4 options I mentioned before (see below). There is no "Summary."
Here's another screen shot after I added an album to music. Now all the choices under "Devices" are grayed.

Restore Notes Only.

How do I restore 'Notes' to my iPhone 3GS (IOs6)?
My Notes app won't start on my iPhone, so I need to restore from my iTunes PC.
I don't want to restore everything onto my iPhone from my last backup.
It should be a simple matter of going into iTunes, then 'Info' and clicking restore 'Notes' only, but it does not allow me to click on this box.
(I have gone to 'Preferences' and clicked on 'Sync Manually ..etc' to prevent an automatic sync)

The restore from backup process is all or nothing. If your iPhone backup is the only place where these notes reside, you'll either have to restore the entire backup or use third-party software to extract the notes from your iPhone backup:

Only a full restore is possible.
However, there are some computer applications which can extract information from a backup file.

there is an iphone 5 with iOS8 and it is needed to restore SMS and Contacts / phone log.
Backup in the Cloud or on itunes is not available. (wasn´t done)
It seems that the data were deleted manually.

first disconnect the iPhone from the internet so it doesn't sent the order to icloud to delete it as well. then check on iCloud.com to see if the Contacts are still there (they still sync even if you didn't set up a backup, and export your contacts from there, then re-import them. if they're not there and you have no backup, there is no way to get them back.
and the SMS are lost as well, there's nothing you can do if you don't have a backup and deleted them.

Restoring photos only on iPhone running iOS 8.2

This is my first post/question, I've already looked everywhere but seems there's no valid way without a third party application involvement...
I'm trying to restore photos only from an iTunes (12.1.0.50) backup on a mac running OS X mavericks my iPhone 5 running iOS 8.2, please advise as my iPhone is struggling with space (64 Gigs, left only with less than a gig)

Did you try to reset the phone by holding the sleep and home button for about 10sec, until the Appel logo comes back again? You will not lose data by resetting.
If this does not work, did you try to switch off Cellular Data, restart the phone and switch it back on again?
