  • Unable to set as ringtone file is unprotected N73

I can transfer my mp3 to my N73 V 3.0716.1.5.1 without any problem PC suite.
They get converted either to m4a or aac format and I can listen to them.
However, when I want to set them as Ringtone I get the following error: Unable to set as ringtone file is unprotected
I was reading that this has something to do with symbian coding or whatsoever, but thats just above my level.
I am using XP service pack 2.
The MP3 files are encoded by dbpoweramp by myself.
I am gratefull for any advice.
Considering the N73 I have to say, Nokia should be ashamed to call this a multimedia phone. I own it for 1 week now, but discovered so many buggs already.

Unfortunately my provider is Softbank Japan (former Vodafone)
Is there any way to sneak around that?
How about that certificate manager, if I erase those symbian certificates, would that maybe help?

  • Personalised ringtone for User Group N73

Hi, Just bought a N73 music edition. I was trying to include my own MP3 ringtone to the caller group. I was not able to find other tones except for Nokia built in tones. Can anyone help me to get my favourite tone to my group.

the second line you put on the secretary's phone is that a shared line?
I would set it up as being just that, and make sure the ring setting is flash only. That shared line (i.e. the GM's extension) should not be part of a pickup group.
try that and see how get on

  • N73 mp3 Ringtone Problem

When I set the ringtone to an mp3 track, which I've downloaded onto my phone, it rings but the track's interrupted by a voice. It sounds as if it's saying "frequency". How can I get rid if this?

Sounds to me like you have the "Say Callers Name" on. Go to Profiles, select your profile and then select Customize/Personalise. Now go down to the field "Say Callers Name" and turn this to "Off".
If I have helped you, please hit the star at the bottom of my posts - it's appreciated!

  • Nokia N73 clear logo success

I have been trying for a long time to set a clear operator logo on my N73, i have now got a clear logo thanks to the site below, all i did was search the site for an old type blank logo, eg: for 3310, 3330, etc, i then had the logo sent to my phone via text message (cost=1 text) as instructed by the website, when i received the logo as a text message i opened the text, pressed Options > Save, i now have a clear operator logo and an extra option in Tools > Settings > Phone > Standby mode > Operator logo, and i get the option to turn the logo On or Off

NOTE: At the moment this website only supports UK phones and networks, but if you serch the web you should be able to find a website that does the exact same thing.
I appologize if this link is inapropriate and is not allowed, but, i thought this might help someone as it did me.
    Hope this helps!

  • Hide ringtones from the Music Player [S60]

Tired of having your ringtones listed and played together with your music? Here's how you can hide the tones from the Music Player. This is applicable for Symbian phones only (N82, N95, etc.).
WARNING: The advise below involves changing folder attributes and using tools that might easily harm the file system of your phone! If unsure that you can handle the steps, better leave the ringtones be.
Note: Following the advise below will also hide the folder/files from the build-in File Manager.
To prevent a file or folder with ringtones from being listed in the MP3 player:
    1. Get yourself a file manager that allows you to change file/folder attributes. Y-Browser will do the job - http://www.drjukka.com
    2. Create a separate folder and place in it all the ringtones and melodies you want to hide from the player. I recommend using the memory card - this will help you repair the file system in case something goes wrong.
    3. Open the file manager from Step 1 (not the build-in File Manager) and navigate to the folder from Step 2.
    4. Change the attributes of the folder to 'System'. For Y-Browser highlight the folder and choose Options -> Attributes then set 'System' to 'Yes' and press Save.
    5. Exit the file manager and refresh the library of the Music Player. Now the folder/files are not shown in the Music Player/File Manager but are still listed on music file selection dialogs (like 'Ringing tone' option in Contacts).
You can also hide single files by setting their attributes to 'System'. I do not recommend this, though.
Please, have in mind that reverting the folder to non-system might not be possible (N82 + Y-Browser 0.88, for example). If this happens you need to move the files to another folder and then delete and recreate the folder. If you have set up the folder/files on the memory card, use a card reader or 'Mass storage' mode to connect to the computer and reset the attributes from there.

  • HS-23 silent when used with N73

I just got a N73 from Vodafone which was packaged with a HS-23 headset. With this headset I use the silent profile but it seems that for incomming calls the ringtone cannot be heard in the headset as I would expect :-(
If I change the profile settings the ringtone can then be heard on the phone and the headset but never in the headset alone. Nokia Customer Care suggested I refer to my Authorised Nokia Service Point for inspection But I first wanted to check if anyone else has this experience or am I missing something simple in the settings which should solve the problem?
Any advice would be welcome. Thanks :-)

The only thing you can do is make sure the connections on the pop-port and on the headset plug are thoroughly clean.
Failing that, thake the phone and headset to a care centre and they'll be able to determine if either is at fault.

  • Songs merged with ringtones

    Hello
I have an N79 and its the first time i am using an N series phone. In fact its my first mp3 phone, so pls bear with me if this sounds pretty dumb. Lately i synced some songs and also added some ringtones in the default "Ringtones" folder. Problem is, in the "All songs" playlist, it also shows up the ringtones i added, which is apparently very annoying when left on its own to play continuously. I have to play DJ every time to skip the ringtones. How do i omit the "ringtones" folder when playing songs?

Hi dextress. What I've done in my N-series phone is, I've added all songs to a playlist, and then removed the ringtones from them - manually. I don't quite like the way the music player scans the entire memory for songs, instead of just a few folders. But we have to live with it

  • When is N73 firmware update due

I called Vodafone (UK) to ask what I can do with my 8 week old N73 that repeatedly dies on me - whilst idle, on a call, or writing a txt. They said they were aware of issues in the firmware but that they didnt know when these would be fixed. *#0000# = V 2.0628.0.0.1 10-07-2006 RM-133 Nokia M73 (39.01) Is there a planned release date for the update? How will it be available? Are there any automatic notification methods? Many thanks

This is a user to user site appearantly... So no Nokia people here (atleast, don't count on it).
There is a minor firmware update available (from .0.0.1 to .0.0.3) but I don't think that will solve your problems.
Nobody knows when the next big firmware is, although we all think it's near. There is a AsianPacific (APAC) version of a 3.x.x.x. firmware but noone knows anything about it. We're all waiting for it
Updating can be done at a Nokia Service Centre or, when the N73 is added, through the Nokia Software Updater which you can get on their site. This updater already lists a number of other models (N70, N80, N93 and more) but unfortunately no N73. The only way to know about a new firmware is checking the threads on this forum and others I'm afraid.
Btw, you don't happen to have 3d ringtones on (and especially not in combination with 'say callers name' option) since those seem to cause MANY problems.
I'm on the same firmware as you but no problems here, not those anyway. Hope to help

  • Search for assigned ringtones in phone content (co...

    Hi,
It is common knowledge that if the same ringtone is assigned to more than one contact, then none of them play the assigned ringtone - rather fall back to a default tone.
I have N97 and like everyone I assign different ringtones to diff contacts - occasionally changing them when one tone gets boring from prolonged use.
With many contacts and many ringtones sometimes it becomes difficult to remember which ringtone has been assigned to whom - duplicates occur and become difficult to trace.
In my previous N73 M(s60v3) I had a app called "mobilesearch" which among other functions, could search the phone content and find ringtones assigned to contacts - the search result would display the contact name and the ringtone assigned to it - but the built in search app in N97 is unable to do this.
I have to open each contact individually > go to details > scroll down to ringtone details - to locate the ringtone assigned.
Can anyone suggest me to do this in a more easy & efficient way - or can tell me if there is any application available for s60v5 touch phone - like the "mobilesearch" I had mentioned.
    Please!

I know more about portal search than about content server, but I believe CS indexes items only when they are published to a portlet. I'm not sure if there is any way to change this behavior. Perhaps you could publish the items to a portlet that isn't displayed?

  • N73 me vibrator problem.

    hi frns,
there is some prblm with the vibrator of my mobile. it does work during the start up and on changing the ringtones in a profile where the vibration alert is on. but it doesnt work when i recv a call or a msg. i've tried formatting and hard reset also doesnt work.

if u dont succeed after the first try.....destroy all evidence that u tried...!!!

Sounds like a hardware failure as my N73-1 ME with same software does not have the same problem.
Probably good that you gave it in to a Nokia Service Centre.

  • Help! N73 Freeze

    Hi
I have just bought an N73 - had it less than 24hrs. Accessing calender this morning the screen froze for no apparent reason. I cannot do anything with the phone, none of the keys respond, I can't even turn it off and it won't accept calls - it goes straight to answerphone.
Can amyone help? I know absolutely nothing about phones, I just want the damn thing to work!!! Is this a common problem with the N73??

Not heard of this problem with the N73 but the firmware is quite unstable at the moment. I would suggest
Turning of 3d ringtones and "say callers name" as these appear to be causing some issues at the moment
