  • C3-01 and stereo widening

I cant find stereo widening on my C3-01 even it is mentioned everywhere as a feature of C3-01. FW 5.60 - CZ Telefonica O2. There is no new software for my phone (even there should be v.6)
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

There maybe a newer update available, updates vary by region and product code ,if your phone is branded you typically have to wait longer.
Look under the utilities or app folder in your phone for stereo widening, this may be just a music player feature in your music player check the settings
If  i have helped at all a click on the white star below would be nice thanks.

No sir, and nor will it playback anything but plain unprotected MP3's.

  • Can I do "Stereo Widener" effect? Is there a plugin? Workaround?

Back when I recorded stuff with a program called N-Track in windows, I had a nice freeware VST effect that 'widened' my stereo tracks. I sing with my acoustic guitar on a single track, and I don't have a fantastic mic or anything, so the widening the stereo made it sound so much nicer.
I've tried to duplicate the track in GB and nudge it slightly, and then widen the pan between the two tracks (put one way left and one way right), but it just doesn't sound very good.
Is there a free or reasonably priced AU effect that will do this? Is there some technique anyone knows to give me the same effect?
Is there a program that will let me dig up that old VST plugin from the dead Gateway and use it again?
    Thanks!
    Alden

Wavearts has a plugin called WaveSurround which you can get a free demo of to see if it'll do what you want. The license isn't free but it's not really expensive and it works really well. Check that out. Comes as AU and VST.

  • N73 has 16 million collors

n73 has 16 million plus colors not 262,144.... and capable for N-gage games.....(coming soon),,, and has 2 stereo speakers (N73 only) w/ equalizer,, loudness and stereo widening settings....... i can connect my n73 to my altec lansing speakers w/ audio adapter,,,,,, and sounds real good!!!!! and has a camera cover for protection....Im sure I will keep my n73 in case i buy new model.....

    Hi nessalpha,
well the N78 has 16 million colours too (no N-Gage support yet) and two stereo speakers as well, plus it has a 3.5 mm audio output jack!
    Doesn´t this sound even better?!
    Look here.
I had a N73 before and now I have a N78 and I am very satisfied with it and would never trade back again. If you come across a N78 you´ll see for yourself!

  • Stereo field, wideness

I'm have a difficult time understanding how to harness the stereo field, specifically wideness of sound. I just created a small mix in garageband (where i doodle ideas, its faster than loading up LP). a few guitar layers, some synth rock bass and a rock drum set. it sounded pretty good coming out of GB, and loading it up into itunes it didnt sound so bad.
i decided to master it in LP, just for kicks. i loaded the mp3 into LP and suddenly it sounded much much different. the stereo field was different somehow. and the volume a bit too... then i mastered the mix in logic and bounced back to my HD, and listening to the bounce in itunes the mix doesnt have much stereo wideness.... instead of sounding like a full rock set, wide and warm, it had a coldness to it because the stereo wideness wasnt there.... it sounded like the sound was coming from directly in front of me, and the wideness of the sound was almost lost in fuzz.
it almost hurt my ears to listen to. all I'd done in LP was throw an EQ and multipresser on it, an adaptive limiter as well. and listening to the bounce was almost straining on the ears because it felt like they were trying to focus on the direction of the sound, rather than bask in what should've been a warm, smooth stereo wideness (I cant think of better ways to describe this...)
can someone explain to me wideness, and ways to regain it, or give songs a pleasant, commercial stereo wideness?
    thanks!
    chris

    Hi Chris,
You may find it useful to try importing a commercial tune into LP, then on that track, switch on logics multimeter (set to 'goniometer') - this will give you a visual representation of stereo width (while you get the hang of using your ears!). You'll generally find if you switch the 'hold' funtion on the goniometer on you'll see a rather pretty diamond shape form.
To get width across your own mix, I'd avoid actually rating the whole mix (ie output 1&2) but instead focus on pulling mids & high frequencies of individual tracks wider across the stereo field. I've generally found, at least in the dance genres I do stuff for) that if bass frequencies/parts are wide in the mix it can sound uncomfortable & a little wierd, especially on headphones.
As a rule I'll always keep bass sounds & Kick drum VERY central. conversely I've found a nice wide snare usually works great in getting a wider percieved width. (at least in dance genres) - Being aware of the stereo width of backing vox can have a massive impact on an overall sound.
Good ways to get extra stereo width on an individual track can include
    1) using stereo reverb or delay
    2) use a logic 'sample delay' with a really short setting on one side, ie 100 ms (I personally avoid this on heavily percussive sounds but is great for chords/pads etc)
    3) use LP's stereo widener or direction meter - be extra careful not to overdo as can sound very artificial, & again focus on mid & high freqs in the stereo widener. If you find you have sounds that are 'too stereo' in some freqs - say like a synth bass, some 3rd party plugs like ozone's widener can be set to 'pull in' width - so you can dial in negative stereo width on certain (ie low) freqs . if this probem isnt freq dependant then Logic's direction meter can work (or as an extreme, a 'gain' plug at the end of the effects chain with 'mono' switched on)
As you're going along, it's good practise to keep checking the whole mix in mono as well to make sure it'll translate onto different (ok, crappy!) sound systems
It's also reading up on the forum about experimenting with Logic's 'Pan law' (somewhere in 'song settings') - This is a new one to me but have just started working with a different panlaw (-3db compensated) to the default 0db & like it so far.....
Hope some of that rambling was useful!....
    Cheers
    Adam

  • Please Nokia! Release a new mobile with stereo spe...

It has been quite a long time since Nokia phones have Stereo Speakers. Now, most of the new Nokia phones I saw are all using Mono speakers.
I have been using Nokia 6233 for quite some time and was totally satisfied with its loud and clear stereo speakers. In fact, Nokia 6233 should have been marketed as a music phone and not a business phone.
Since 6233 is now outdated, can Nokia release a new mobile with Stereo Speakers?
How about this: (XpressMusic version of 6233) -- An example
    Nokia 5233 XpressMusic:
    2.2inch 16 mil colour screen 320x240
5MegaPixel Autofocus camera with 2 bright led, VGA 30fps recording (CarlZeiss not needed)
Bluetooth 2.0 with stereo headset support (A2DP)
    Stereo FM Radio
Support for SDHC MicroSD up to 16GB
25 hours music player / 7 hours Talk time
    MicroUSB connector
    3.5mm jack
    Series 40 Operating system
Nokia 6233's design and material used
There should be a Nokia 5234 for Wi-fi functionality.
And last but not least... STEREO SPEAKERS!!!

However, do note that for stereo speakers to result in a proper stereo sound effect, the speakers have to be positioned at least as widely as your ears are on your head.
Nokia N81 is a good example for that. Especially when the stereo widening and the loudness option is activated. Placing it near the protruding part of the lower jaw would be also nice.

  • N8 - Rattling noise when listening with headphones

Just got my N8 but unfortunately noticed a slight but annoying rattling noise when listening to music via earphones. It's most noticeable at the start and the end of songs as well as in quieter passages.
Anyone else noticed this? If this is a known issue and fixable via firmware update I won't bother but I'm afraid it's hardware related. Already tried different headphones and reset the device but that didn't help.
Is there anything else I can do that might fix the problem? Thanks!

hi,i'm Hafiz from Malaysia.i'm having EXACTLY the same prob with my new N8's earphone.it's so frustrating that the controller of my earphone unit,is not working at all! The moment i connect the earphone to my lovely N8, the only projected sound appears is full with distortion, incomplete like voice cancellation function is on, and not entertaining at all. I ENABLE THE LOUDNESS AND STEREO WIDENING FUNCTIONS, then it sounds better but the quality is far behind than my previous N70, N73 and N95. To make it even worse, all buttons are NOt functiining at all - volume, fast/rewind, stop etc. I even take off and reconnect the earphone thousand times but it fails to function as what its supposed to be. I went to the outlet where i bought this remarkable hp,unfortunately it was hopeless. The retailer even reformatted my phone's C drive, it failed to overcome my earphone issue. The retailer tried to use and replace with a new earphone set, again it was a failure. Other than that,my N8 functions as what have been promoted. I tried with other earphones and the result was just the same, POOR SOUND QUALITY! Please settle this SIMPLE prob a.s.a.p as it really makes feel uncomfortable and sad of getting 'incomplete' set of N8.

  • Music Edition ALL HYPE! - PETITION NEEDS TO BE STA...

Nokia have release many Music Edition Phones. Non of them stand up to the hype it's suppose to!
Music Edition means it should have 8 Equalizers for better audio qaulity via headsets especially Nokia Music Headset HS-20! why 5 equalizers?
    All Music Edition Problems!
    - Buggy Music Player [N73 ME/N91 4GB]
    - Volume via headsets low although everything set to FULL in Equazlier & Stereo Widening Turned on.
    - 5 Equzliers? Where 8 Equalizers gone?
ALL Music Edition users post your comments!
its appauling what hype Nokia give! automatically when it says Music Edition it needs to be a Music Device like da N91 in audio quality. IF not it should be changed! MEL = Music Edition Lite
Pathetic think Nokia need to upgrade firmware for all recent music edition handsets supporting 8 Equalziers & 4GB Mini-SD cards coz that is future for Music Storage.

I'm not an owner of an N-Series Music Edition phones but i'm on the other boat the "XpressMusic".Yeah your point is good. Why offer a Music edition phone with a measly 5-band EQ? Is that the best they can offer? XpressMusic phone with a 5-band EQ? But i clearly understand them, all phones must not have same features to have a fair share market to the other phone models.
Nokia advertised N5300 to handle 2GB am i right? 1500+Tracks on one card with all encoded to AAC+48kbps? Are you kiddin me guys? STOP these,my ears are now bleeding. Now i'm being traumatize of using AAC+ format.MP3 and WMA are for music lovers, achieve Hi-Fi!Not only near-cd quality provided by 32-48kbps AAC+ Files!!It does saves you space and battery but it isn't worth it,i won't sacrifice my ears and especially my enjoyment.

  • Nokia 101 music player play only first 20 songs

hi friends ... i have a problem...whenever i download songs in my memory card,my music player play only first 20 songs, and other songs show me format error.... please help me what can i do with this ????
Moderator's notes: Moved into it's own thread

I am experiencing exactly the same problem. I recently purchased Nokia 3555 and HS-49 headset to listen to music in stereo. However, I only get mono sound from the right. I called customer care services before I purchased HS-49 and they said it's compatible with Nokia 3555. Yes, I can listen to music, but it's not in stereo. I turned on "stereo widening effect," but it doesn't change anything.
Accoring to the catalog on the web, the phone has stereo bluetooth capability...So, I think it should also produce stereo sound through a wired stereo headset especially with HS-49 which is listed as a compatible headset.
I really appreciate if anybody can teach me how to listen to music in stereo on my Nokia 3555.
    Thanks

  • X6 distorted sound on WH701

    Hi,
my X6-00 16GB (SW updated ~20 days ago) plays music VERY distorted when WH701 headset is connected (only way is to move balance to either side, turn off bass-boost, turn off stereo-widening). Also, pressing any of the keys on WH701 makes no effect at all (same one works fine on other Nokia phones).
    Any ideas?
    Help!

    Now,
I know it has been just few days since I have posted my situation, but is there nobody that has any idea/suggestion to what have happened to my X6?

  • Default music player equaliser

Hi all, I'm new to these forums so please forgive me if this topic has already been raised. I have the 5230, a great phone and a major upgrade to anything that I've had in the past. I'm quite an audiophile so am stressing the limits of the built in music player, I've noticed something that annoys me slightly though: the graphical equaliser, along with the stereo widening effect and the loudness function only work when playing MP3 files. They are totally incapable of altering the sound of MP4 and WMA. Has anyone else noticed this bug?
    Best,
