N73 very slow, is this right?

Had my N73 about a week now, when i hot the menu button theres a delayed reaction ans also, when opening applications and especially messages it takes a while to do it. And when i recieve a message when i hit read it sort of laggs a bit then shows the message, i dont really like the laggyness of naviagtion on it, quite dissapointed with this aspect. My version is: V3.0638.0.0.1 i believe this to be the latest version.
Does anyone else experience the same thing. Comapred to my old samsung where everything happends as soon as you click the buttons, its not half as good.
any other opinions?

2GB is way too big for me.i'm using 512MB and my nokia is very slow.I think no phone needs 2GB.Well exept phones with 4-5GB or more can handle bigger MMC-s because their processor is faster(i think so).Mine is with 220 MHz procesor and believe me it's VERY slow.Let's just say that the Images opening time is more than 25 seconds.
And about the firmware updates.I don't think there will be any difference even if you have updated the latest because just the processor is slow.
Bigger phone memory - faster processor for good performance

How much RAM & free space do you have also, click on the Memory & Disk Usage Tabs.

In the Memory tab, are there a lot of Pageouts?

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select

Thats a start. Why are you using Chrome? Of the three main browsers Chrome is probably the worst. Try Safari or Firefox. I'm not familiar with GlimmerBlocker or BackBlaze, you might try disabling them to see if things improve. I don't see any other software related issues.
Edit: FlashPlayer is out of date. Update that by entering www.adobe.com into your browsers address bar and follow the links ro FP. Never click on a link to update software.....too many redirects to tainted installers.

  • When i installed yosemite on my mac book it runs very slow, is this normal ?

After installing OS X yosemite on my mac book it runs extremely slow. Is this normal ?

Slow performance after installing Yosemite on an older Mac is often caused by inadequate memory. Although you can install the upgrade on a Mac with 2 GB of memory, experience has shown that at least 4 GB is needed for full performance.
Select About This Mac from the Apple menu. If you have less than 4 GB of memory, and your model has upgradable memory, install as much as it can take, or at least that much. Any reputable RAM vendor will have a web form in which you can select the Mac model and be directed to compatible parts.
Memory in the MacBook Air is not upgradable. If that's what you have, you should restore the previous system from a backup, or replace the machine. Ask if you need guidance.

OS X Mountain Lion Technical Specifications

  • N73 very slow response after minute of idle

After updating the firmware it take too long to open the phone from standby mode.
Why Nokia had limit the MMS to 300KB only.
Will Nokia manufacturer this a serious note for them to upgrade the firmware to more stable and reliable to use this kind of cell phone?

There are numerous software versions for different regions, network operators etc., so it is difficult to comment on your speed issue without knowing what is the version that you have updated to.
300Kb is a typical limit for MMS, even at network level. Some more recent phones like the N82 could theoretically handle larger MMS messages, but in practice most networks still place a 300Kb limit so what the phone is capable of is irrelevant. You should note that the limit of the receiving phone will also affect this, for example if you sent a 300Kb MMS from your N73 to a friend who owned a 6020, they would not receive it because their phone accepts 100Kb maximum. MMS is a system created only for small messages, and will eventually be completely redundant now that most phones have GPRS/3G/WLAN and e-mail capability.

  • Android app very slow - is this just something to put up with?

    Hi,
We have created an Android version of an existing iPad dps app & folio, and even though we have removed features unsupported by Android, it still runs really (painfully) slowly compared to iPad.
We've seen discussions that this is a general issue with the Air-based Android viewer app, and there's little that can be done.  Is this so?
We've also seen rumours that there is a new android viewer app due at some point soon, that will sort out the performance.  Is this so?   It would be useful to know anticipated release date so we can communicate this to clients - it will help appease them.
    Many thanks,
    Paul

Hi Neil, good to hear. Do you have any plans on when we should be hearing more about the native android viewer? Not sure if you have read this ( http://forums.adobe.com/message/5773513) , but new Android tablets with x86 based processors are performing very poorly compared to ARM based Android devices (and iPad). We have customers who are getting very impatient and we dont know what to tell them. Any guidance or advice/timelines Adobe can provide would be very helpful to calm customer concerns.

  • New connection very slow - is this normal ?

    Hi
I just had option 3 broadband installed today but seem to be stuck on an IP profile of 2 Mbps. It was supposed to be 6-8, probably 7 Mbps.
The line is clean and I tried the quiet line and it was very quiet.
I understand there's a 10 day bedding in period, but wouldn't it start high and go down from there ?
How long will I have to wait at 2 Mbps ?
    Cheers

  • I have a new iPad with retina display it seems to get very hot is this right

Should the iPad get very hot ?

I would recomend turning down your brightness of your screen.  It should be put to to 50-60% and now the iPadwill not get warm. Still you can feel the heat but at least it does not get as warm as using 100% brightness.

  • *SOLVED* - 2D draw very slow, intel / fglrx Xorg driver

    Hey all,
My very first support post to the forums
I have an issue on a few computers whereby the 2D drawing in X is very slow. This happens on my laptop with Intel vga and also on a desktop when using the proprietary fglrx driver. I did not have this problem a few months ago when using stable. At that time, I installed testing and discovered the problem, so I went back to stable. Some time later an update to Xorg came into stable and since then the problem is now in the that tree also.
I thought it might be the new GEM stuff for the Intel driver, so I installed the 2.6.28 kernel when it was released - it did not solve the problem. Installing an NVIDIA card into the desktop box does solves the problem (can't do that for my laptop!). Because it's happening with the intel and fglrx drivers, but not with NVIDIA, I think it might be a problem with some Xorg component that the NVIDIA driver performs itself? But I've no idea..
Essentially, I'm using wmii as my desktop, which is a tiled window manager. Creating a new terminal window, switching between them and closing them all is very slow (taking a second or more), when it should be pretty much instantaneous.
When doing these things, Xorg takes up 90% CPU usage. By comparison, on the same laptop under Debian it only uses 10% CPU (and the problem does not exist).
I have created two desktop screencasts of what I mean. In the videos I am quickly opening a bunch of xterms and then later holding down 'switch between terminals', then holding down 'close terminal'. I run htop to show the CPU usage.
    Arch, 4.9 MB, OGV - http://christophersmart.com/videos/archlinux-wmii.ogv
    Debian, 5.7 MB, OGV- http://christophersmart.com/videos/debian-wmii.ogv
    Any ideas?
    Thanks a bunch!
    Chris
Edit: FYI, the desktop has an Intel Core2 CPU with 8GB RAM and 2 x WD Raptor drives in RAID 0. With an ATI card, wmii is unusable.
Last edited by csmart (2009-01-17 00:19:57)

Well I first discovered the problem with the 'intel' driver and later when I set up Arch Linux on a desktop I was met with the same issue. I think it might be some part of Xorg that they both share, but it's not just a problem with the catalyst driver.. unfortunately

  • My MacBook Pro is running very slow.  I've run repair permissions without positive result.  Does anyone have any ideas?

My MacBook Pro (2010) is runnign very slow.  This came on all of a sudden.  It opens, closes, reboots, etc., all much slower than ever before.  I have used the repair disk permissions without any positive result.  Does anyone have any ideas?

First, back up all data immediately, as your boot drive might be failing.
Take these steps when you notice the problem.
    Step 1
Launch the Activity Monitor application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Activity Monitor in the icon grid.
Select the CPU tab of the Activity Monitor window.
Select All Processes from the menu in the toolbar, if not already selected.
Click the heading of the % CPU column in the process table to sort the entries by CPU usage. You may have to click it twice to get the highest value at the top. What is it, and what is the process? Also post the values for % User, % System, and % Idle at the bottom of the window.
Select the System Memory tab. What values are shown in the bottom part of the window for Page outs and Swap used?
Next, select the Disk Activity tab. Post the approximate values shown for Reads in/sec and Writes out/sec (not Reads in and Writes out.)
    Step 2
You must be logged in as an administrator to carry out this step.
Launch the Console application in the same way as above. Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left.
Post the 50 or so most recent messages in the log — the text, please, not a screenshot.
When posting a log extract, be selective. Don't post more than is requested.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into a message.
Important: Some personal information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Edit it out before posting.

The problem is with the new operating system  and sending photo via email when used in my iPad.
From photo I selected 3 photos to send via email. I choose the upload key and choose to send by email. Typing text on the email is very slow. This is solved by saving the email as a draft and opening the email again from mail.
Can you amend he system to allow emails to be sent from photo as previously.

Have you tried restarting or resetting your iPad?
Restart: Press On/Off button until the Slide to Power Off slider appears, select Slide to Power Off and, after the iPad shuts down, then press the On/Off button until the Apple logo appears.
Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10 seconds). Ignore the "Slide to power off"

  • In Adobe Reader (11.0) the typing is very slow when I insert sticky notes.

I bought a new laptop and I just installed the latest version of Adobe Reader.
When I insert sticky notes, typing is very slow. This doesn't happen with the
other program. I've uninstalled and reinstalled. I still have the same problem.

This phenomenon can happen with PDF files that have errors in them.  Adobe Reader or Acrobat may be able to fix these errors, but if you close the application, it will ask to save the corrected file.  If you save it once, that should no longer occur when you open it again.
This is just one explanation, but it doesn't explain why that happens with every PDF you have.
Test: does it also happen with a PDF that is not supposed to contain any errors: http://helpx.adobe.com/pdf/adobe_reader_reference.pdf ?
