N76 Java installation problems: Unable to install.

Hello.
I have the problem with installing java app on my N76. I get the message 'unable to install' when I try to install the gmail java app from online link (http://gmail.com/app).
It was with 10.0.035 and the same with freshly installed 20.0.041 firmware.
Could you please advise me how to solve the problem.
All sis application are installing online with no problem.
Thanks.

Check your settings in the Applications -> Application Manager -> settings.
Mine are Software Installations -> All
Onine certificate check -> Off
and it installs OK.
If not then you can configure the internal mail client to access your gmail quite easily. Come back if you need some help as it doesn't work unless you manually enable the secure settings.

  • NW 7 EHP1 Installation problem - unable to find control.xml file

    Hi,
I'm trying to install NW 7 with EHP1 on AIX/Oracle environment. My installation got to the stage where SAPinst paused to allow the installation of the Oracle database software. After installing the Oracle database software, I closed down the SAP installation GUI in the hope of picking up the installation at a later date. However, when reattempting to pick up where the installation left off, I recieve the following error when starting sapinst after selecting "continue with old installation" option.

    Hi Naveed,
I can't see any sap inst processes running under the root account, however I can see the following two processes running under oraSID user from the date of my original installation attempt:

  • Java installation problem on solaris

    Hi
IAm a new born baby to solaris .I have installed

If i have done anything wrong ,Please correct me .My problem is :
i have to include the rt.jar file in the classpath bcoz it contains all

message as segmentation violation error and abort core dumped .I dont why i got this error .Please help me as soon possible .My email id is
    [email protected] .
    Thanks in advance

The Solaris*.bin file should have unpacked everything and installed all the JDK in a directory off of the directory where you ran the .bin file. Inside this subdirectory will be a bin subdirectory where the java executables, etc are installed.

  • Custom Java Installer Problems

I need to make an installer that will load several products at the same time (including downloading Java and installing it for the user) from a single screen for simplification purposes. My current installer builds the JavaSoft reg tree and places all the files inside the Java folder correctly. Unfortionatly, no browser recognizes java exists and I can't find the registry keys to make it do so.
Help finding these keys or any help with installing Java within another installer without a seperate window popping up would be greatly appreciated.

  • Looks serious. possible hardware problem. unable to install any OS.

    Hi,
Powerbook was working absolutely fine. Stupidly, I attempted to watch a partially (97%) downloaded (with Bittorrent) movie (.wmv -- WM3) in Windows Media Player 9 in full screen mode. Half way through the movie freezes. I try and get out of full screen, nothing changes -- the whole machine is frozen. I restart. During boot there's a serious error -- kernel panic I think -- telling you to restart machine in various languages including Japanese. Restart. Freezes during start up window progress bar. Restart. Freeze.
I start up from the Jaguar disk 1 start up disk, go into Disk Utilties, repair disk -- errors found, and fixed apparently. Restart. Freeze.
I start up from DiskWarrior 4 start up disk and start it on the drive. Step 6: "Overlapped files detected" with a number after, and it starts taking ages. I left DW working for nearly two days until it seemed to have frozen (still on step 6).
I connect the sick PB to an iMac via firewire and start up the PB in disk target mode, the PB's drive appears on the desktop of the iMac and I'm able to easily with no problems copy off all my personal files. At that point I thought all was saved -- I was out of hot water, no further real problems. All I had to do is wipe the drive and reinstall etc.
I reformatted the drive from the iMac choosing to zero aswell. The PB's drive appears on the desktop empty and looking fine.
Start up the PB using Panther retail install disk one click install, it goes through checking the install disk then starts to check the target disk or actually install on the target disk -- at that point kernel panic -- 'restart machine' in various languages including Jap. Start up again using Panther disk, this time choose Disk Utilities to attempt to refromat the drive again, kernel panic before Disk Utilties even gets fully open.
I start up the PB using Jaguar retail install disk one, choose Disk Utilties -- fine. I reformat the drive, this time not bothering with zeroing. Fine. Go through to install Jaguar. Again it checks the install disk fine, then immediately after, kernel panic.
I tried partitioning the drive into two using Disk Utilties on Jaguar start up disk. My thinking was, maybe the start of the drive is damaged. Then tried to install onto partition two: panic. Just to check, tried to install to partition one: panic.
It's a 60GB drive. I installed Jaguar onto it ages ago successfully. The only difference was when doing it ages ago is I used the PB's internal CD/DVD drive. That had since broken and I've been using an external firewire CD/DVD drive -- all the above various Jaguar / Panther attempts were from the external drive. I just received a 2nd hand internal CD/DVD drive I bought on eBay -- I was blindly/stupidly hoping that using an internal CD drive would solve my problem but it hasn't.
What's the problem? It seems as if the initial Windows Movie Player crash has caused this, but that can't be can it? That was a software crash and I've since reformated the drive. There shouldn't be any remnants of that in anyway. So it's a hardware problem? But it was working fine before the crash and nothing has happened to the PB between the crash and now. But there's no two ways about it -- right now the PB seems terminally broken.
Any suggestions how to get my PB working again?
    TIA,
    John.

It's intalled. So it turns out I was lying when I said "The only difference was when doing it ages ago is I used the PB's internal CD/DVD drive." -- I forgot to mention there was no AirPort card in the PB when I installed Jag ages ago.
Also a small note: it seems an internal CD drive was necessary in the end. When the Panther install restarted and requested disk 2 I couldn't get it to recognize disk 2 from the external drive -- had to use the internal one to continue (although I didn't spend too much time/effort trying to get the external one to work but on the face of it it didn't seem to). (Although I can imagine there may be a way of installing stuff from disk 2 after having customized the install to not require anything from disk 2 for the first main automated install possibly? I may sell the internal CD/DVD drive if so as otherwise it was a waste of money).
Having installed Panther I put the AirPort card and the 2nd memory back in and started up -- all's apparently OK, but of course there's good reason not to be convinced of that. I didn't customize the Panther install as I wanted (because I didn't expect it to work). Not sure if I dare try wiping and reinstalling.
Obviously I'd feel happier knowing what the problem was/is. Looks like the AirPort card had something to do with it. But even when that was out the PB couldn't start from OS9. When formatting the drive (from OS X installer software) I'm sure I had the OS9 check box ticked. Even if I hadn't it wouldn't stop the OS9 CD working would it?; the hard drive just wouldn't appear once started up from the OS9 CD.
So I now have Panther up and running with both bits of memory in and the AirPort card in. I haven't messed around with/in Panther at all yet but on the face of it it seems fine.
Any ideas what the problem was/is? Any suggestions how to find out? Should I just ignore it and forget it ever happened (and cross my fingers and hope I never need to mess around with OS installs again)? Would be nice to know what's going on though. For a start it looks like if ever I want to install OS9 on it I won't be able to -- which actually may be something I want to do in the future possibly.
    Thanks.

  • Installation problem; can't install anything after failed install

    Hi everybody,
I have just changed computer and I tried to instal Cubase LE4 on my new macbook air running on OS X Mavericks (10.9.2).
I have encouter similar problems of others that tried the same operation on SL years ago, namely: when the installation started, it went well, but in the end it will say 'install time remaining; about a minute'. No matter how long I leave it (literally hours), the loading bar won't move an inch, even though it looks like it's loading.
Now I have to force quit to get rid of the screen.
However every time I try to install something else the problem is still there. The installer tells application says: "Waiting for other installetion to complete".
I can't install any other program.
Here's the link to the old post:

The solution proposed on that post do not work for me unfortunately.  I was wondering if anybody has some new solutions.

  • Installation problems: can't install anything after failed install.

I believe this may have been posted before, but I have a different OS than in the question I read so I thought I should ask again.
I have a Macbook Pro running OS X Lion (late 2011) and a while ago I was dumb and decided to install old Cubase LE 4 software onto my brand new Macbook. The installation stalled with "less than one minute remaining", I force quit, tried several more times, and ever since then I can't install anything else. I heard of some hotfix that can remedy this problem, but since I have the new OS I was wondering if that would still work.
    Any suggestions/answers are greatly appreciated.

  • Tiger Installation Problems: Can't install from disc...continuous restarts

Attempting Tiger install on fairly old iMac (six years) ... the DVD player is caput, so I'm attempting to install with external DVD-ROM (Teac). Upon clicking the install icon, I get a message that asks me to restart to continue the process. Problem is once I restarted, nothing happened and I returned to the beginning. When I tried to restart (as instructed) while pressing the C key...nothing happened. When I tried to restart from the Tiger install disc, it wouldn't allow me to restart. I hit the key and get an error tone. None of the troubleshooting tips seem to apply to this situation. Is it the external drive? Is it my machine? Is it the install DVD 10.4.6? I'm out of ideas ...

There are no guarantees, but following this procedure when installing updates and upgrades on your Mac, or even re-installing them, will go a long way towards avoiding unpleasant after effects and ‘post-update stress disorder’.
It is also worth noting that it is an extreme rarity for updates to cause upsets to your system, as they have all been extensively beta-tested, but they may well reveal pre-existing ones, particularly those of which you may have been unaware. If you are actually aware of any glitches, make sure they are fixed before proceeding further.
So before you do anything else:
If you can, make a full backup first.
Turn off sleep mode for both screen and hard disk.
Disconnect all peripherals except your keyboard and mouse.
    1. Repair Permissions (in Disk Utility)
    2. Verify the state of your hard disk using Disk Utility. If any faults are reported, restart from your install disk (holding down the C key), go to Disk Utility, and repair your startup disk. Restart again to get back to your startup disk.
At least you can now be reasonably certain that your system does not contain any obvious faults that might cause an update/upgrade to fail.
    3. Download the correct version of the COMBO update from the Apple download site. If your car runs on gasoline you would not want to fill the tank with diesel, so don’t try to install the PPC updater on an Intel Mac!
The 10.4.11 Combo Updater for PPC Macs is here: http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/apple/macosx_updates/macosx10411comboupdat eppc.html
And for Intel Macs: http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/apple/macosx_updates/macosx10411comboupdat eintel.html
If you prefer to download updates via Software Update in the Apple menu (which would ensure that the correct version for your Mac was being downloaded), it is not recommended to allow SU to install major (or even minor) updates automatically. Set Software Update to just download the updater without immediately installing it. There is always the possibility that the combined download and install (which can be a lengthy process) might be interrupted by a power outage or your cat walking across the keyboard, and an interrupted install will almost certainly cause havoc. Once it is downloaded, you can install at a time that suits you. You should make a backup copy of the updater on a CD in case you ever need a reinstall.
More information on using Software Updater here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1338
Using the Combo updater ensures that all system files changed since the original 10.4.0 are included, and any that may have been missed out or subsequently damaged will be repaired. The Delta updater, although a temptingly smaller download, only takes you from the previous version to the new one, i.e. for example from 10.4.10 to 10.4.11. Software Update will generally download the Delta updater only. The preferable Combo updater needs to be downloaded from Apple's download site.
    Now proceed as follows:
    4. Close all applications.
    5. Unplug all peripherals except your keyboard and mouse.
    6. Install the update/upgrade. Do not under any circumstances interrupt this procedure. Do not do anything else on your computer while it is installing. Be patient.
    7. When it ask for a restart to complete the installation, click restart. This can take longer than normal, there are probably thousands of files to overwrite and place in the correct location. Do nothing while this is going on.
    8. Once your Mac is awake, repair permissions again, and you should be good to go!
If your Mac seems slightly sluggish or ‘different’, perform a second restart. It can’t hurt and is sometimes efficacious!
    9. Open a few of your most used applications and check that all is OK. In this connection please remember that not all manufacturers of third party applications and plug-ins, add-ons, haxies etc, will have had time to do any necessary rewrites to their software to make them 10.4.10. compliant. Give them a weeks or two while you regularly check their websites for updates. This applies particularly to plug-ins for Safari 3.
N.B. Do not attempt to install two different updates at the same time as each may have different routines and requirements. Follow the above recommendations for each update in turn.
Lastly, Apple's own article on the subject of Software Update may also be useful reading:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106695
If you are updating Safari (or just have):
Input Managers from third parties can do as much harm as good. They use a security loophole to reach right into your applications' code and change that code as the application starts up. If you have installed an OS update and Safari is crashing, the very first thing to do is clear out your InputManagers folders (both in your own Library and in the top-level /Library), log out and log back in, and try again.
So, disable all third party add-ons before updating Safari, as they may not have been updated yet for the new version. Add them back one by one. If something goes awry, remove it again and check on the software manufacturer's website for news of an update to match your version of Safari. Remember: Tiger up to 10.4.10 used Safari 2.0.4 or, if you downloaded it, Safari 3.0.3 beta. Safari 10.4.11 used Safari 3.0.4 which was not a beta. If Safari 3.1.1 on 10.4.11 is not the fastest browser you have ever used, then something is wrong!
Moreover, trying to revert to Safari 3.0.4 (or worse still, version 2) when running 10.4.11 or 10.5 can have repercussions, as Safari 3.1.1 uses a completely different webkit on which other applications like iChat, Mail and Dashboard Widgets etc also rely, and may entail you having to reinstall an earlier operating system.
Most errors reported here after an update are due to an unrepaired or undetected inherent fault in the system, and/or a third party ad-on. Two such add-on that have been frequently mentioned here for causing such problems are Piclens and Pithhelmet. If you have them, trash them.
Additional tips on software installation here:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106692
To reiterate, Input Managers reach right into an application and alter its code. This puts the behavior of the affected application outside the control and responsibility of its developers: a recipe for problems. That's not to say that issues absolutely will ensue as a result of Input Managers, but you, as a user, must decide. If the functionality of a specific Input Manager or set thereof is really important to you, you may well choose to assume the associated risk.
Again, the advice is to remove all Input Managers from the following directories:
    • /Library/InputManagers
    • ~/Library/InputManagers
especially prior to system updates (they can always be added back one-by-one later).

  • Installer freezes:  unable to install any new programs

My Powerbook G4 is 3 years old, runs OS X 10.3, I've never had any major issues.
Now, something new my way, something I have no idea how to resolve: the installer is broken. When I try to install any new program and launch "installer", the computer freezes and eventually I have to do a hard restart. Doesn't matter if the installer file is on a CD or on my desktop. Doesn't matter what kind of file it is - from what I've tried so far, it freezes every time, no matter the program I'm trying to install.
I ran Disk Utility and made sure permissions were okay - didn't help.
Can anyone shed some light on this problem? Is there anything else I can try?
Thank you SO much in advance.

    Terence,
Thanks for getting back in touch so quickly.
Yes, it was DivX I was trying to install this evening, however I can't remember which app I originally had problems with, but I had assumed it was the installer packages themselves as they were for printer drivers, wireless mouse driver, etc. Since I have now encountered this with the Apple security updates and a more major package in DivX, it seems either Installer or OS permissions somewhere.
I tried trashing Installer, downloading Pacifist and re-installing the package from the Max OS X Install Disc, however the problem persists. I first tried the Apple security updates knowing this would be a valid package if nothing else, and it still fails. Here is the log from trying the security updates:
    "Aug 6 23:21:36 iain-foulds-computer : BomFileError 13: Permission denied - ///System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/Bom.framework/Bom
Aug 6 23:21:36 iain-foulds-computer : Install failed: Some files for SecUpd2006-004Intel may not have been written correctly."

  • Installation problem with already installed apache, help!

Alright, I have oracle 9i client installed on a windows 2000 machine. I'm admin (it is a laptop that dual boots Solaris and Windows 2000). I also had apache 2 and tomcat with jk2 connector. Normally I run a web app off of this laptop, connecting to a remote db. I'm also using HTML DB on Sun machines.
I figured I'd give XE a spin. Too bad there's no solaris version, makes it harder to figure out if something goes wrong.
So I installed and it found some ports already in use. It did assign new ports. But in the end, it didn't connect to the home page.
I figured I'd stop apache and tomcat. I then uninstalled and reinstalled. No port conflict this time, but in the end, it didn't connect to the home page.
If I look at services, 3 XE are running, plus MTSrecovery and OraHome92ClientCache. OracleJobSchedulerXE is disabled. I enabled and started too just in case, but it made no difference.
If I run SQL command line, I can connect as sysdba and all that, so the database is up. Just not the web service. I get a connection refused.
I made sure I didn't have a putty tunnel or anything similar active. If I restart tomcat, it has no problem serving on 8080.
Any suggestions as to where to go next?
    Francois

Well, two things that can happen and happened to me:
1 - ran out of disk space. One tablespace missing. I dont remember the exact error thru oracle, but the install didn't give me any at all. That was the original issue. For those that are getting that ftp screen, there is a good chance it is because you ran out of disk space.
2 - database went in recovery mode (what caused that I'm not sure) the second time around, altough I had 2GB free on C:\. I ended up freeing another 500mb and stopping antivirus, update, sync, apache, tomcat etc Uninstalled one more time and that time the install went through. I might end up reenabling stuff one at a time and do many uninstall/reinstall to try to identify what is the problem. This is a Pentium M 1.6GHz, so I doubt the issue was about CPU cycles.
In both cases, no error messages at install time.
Unfortunately I didn't keep the logs, but as far as a hint, let me mention this:
    in c:\oraclexe\app\oracle\admin\XE\bdump\
there is an alert_xe.log file which can reveal a lot of interesting things.
Also, check how much free space you have left after install.
