  • MSI Twin Frozr Gaming Geforce GTX 770

    Dear MSI,
Recently I bought myself an ASUS PG278Q Gaming Monitor with 144hz & 2K Resolution.
Now my game no longer plays smooth and nice. & my FPS is between 70 & 100 and drops to 30/50 in teamfights..
1.5 year ago I purchased the MSI Geforce GTX 770 Twin Frozr & I really expected this card to be strong enough for the monitor.
( I play League of Legends, soon hoping competitively. Also I got to know from some people that this card would be strong enough for the monitor. )
All my drivers are up to date in the Nvidia Geforce Expierence. Can someone help me & How to solve this?
    Kind Regards,
    Rory

LoL...... I've not used any DVI cables for almost 2 years.
The last card I used was MSI R7770-2PMD1GD5/OC & no problem. Waiting for MSI Nvidia card with 2x mDP or DP ports.
Why must I use back DVI cables?
    http://www.geforce.com/hardware/technology/3dvision-surround/system-requirements
DVI + DVI + (HDMI or mDP)
The DVI connector is always the primary output, so it's a good idea to start with it.
On the other hand, a GTX 760 is not powerful enough for triple monitors.
If you're a gamer, you'll face a terrible perfomances drop in most of the recent games.
For triple monitors (3D Surround), Nvidia recommends a GTX 780 or 2 x GTX 770 in SLI.

  • Replace GeForce GTX 295...GeForce GTX 770???

Think it's time to update our video card since we are using Premiere Pro CC and After Effects CC. Built our rig in 2009 and have the GTX 295 in there now which has been pretty good over the past 4 years.
Was looking at the GeForce GTX 770, which is around $400. Budget is around $500, which I know isn't a lot but think we can get something decent for that amount.
Saw the benchmarks and notes from Adobe that the GTX 6xx series preforms slighlty better than the Quadro series cards. I'm open to either.
    Anyone have suggestions....
    Our rig:
    Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit
    ASUS P6T7 WS Supercomputer
    Intel Core i7-950 Bloomfield 3.06GHz LGA 1366 130W Quad-Core
    CORSAIR XMS3 12GB (6 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600
    EVGA 017-P3-1294-AR GeForce GTX 295 1792MB 896 Bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI

Thanks guys. Interesting. Don't get me wrong, after updating the driver, the 295 still runs pretty good out of AE CC. Exporting a 20 sec title 3d animation for use in premiere (MOV - PNG at full quality) then going to DVCPROHD tape, took 9 minutes with GPU compared to 4 hours before updating the driver. So it works pretty good. I know Premiere CC only used 1 of the 2 GPU in the 295 but still runs pretty good. CC_merchant you might be correct....keep plugging away with the 295 and save the $$$ for the future.

  • NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770 Mac/Adobe QT32 Server (Not Responding)

Has anyone else used a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770 4GB on a mac in AE? We just got one from Macvidcards and AE seems really slow starting and closing.
In fact when you quit the MediaCore then hangs for ages when you restart. I edited the supported Raytracer setting and it is seen and can use Cuda.
Also is anyone still getting "Adobe QT32 Server (Not Responding)", every time you start AE? If you look in process viewer it shows up.

  • Enhancing GPU: 2 cards GeForce GTX 770 connected with SLI  or Nvidia Quadro K5000?

Hello, I'm going to start working with video files of 4k raw format (Premiere, After Effects, SpeedGrade, RedGiant plug-ings). Now I have a video card GPU Nvidia GeForce GTX 770, but I was told that game video cards GeFroce have limited  fukntsional when working with video in Premiere. Is it really so? If I change my card to Nvidia Quadro K5000 which has close characteristics, will I get any extra features working in Adobe programms (Premiere, SpeesGrade, After Effect)? Does it make sense in such a substitution? Or is it better to buy a second GTX 770 and put them in SLI? Will Adobe support that?

No, the Geforce cards don't have a limitation with 4K media and the GPU acceleration. The GPU acceleration ie CUDA is not specific to either Geforce or Quadro. The specs of the cards decide the performance. The Geforce Specs are far greater than the Quadro K5000 if you get the 780Ti or the Titan Black Edition. Both cards are cheaper. The only benefit the Quadro card has in regards to Adobe is the 10bit color output option for preview since Adobe is Open GL based for the API. However you can get a Blackmagic 4K studio card with a Titan Black edition and still spend less money than the K5000 while having far better performance. I personally run a E5-2697 V2 12 Core Xeon with a 770GTX 4GB card and I play 4K r3d back at half resolution easily right now. Full resolution for preview with 4K red is simply not possible via any software other than Redcine X Pro right now until the GPU acceleration debayering is available. BTW I would suggest 1 Titan Black edition over 2x 770GTX cards. The scaling across GPU's only works on rendering right now. When the GPU acceleration debayer is available then adding a 2nd Titan card would be far better than having 2x 770GTX cards.
SLI and GPU acceleration are 2 different technologies. SLI is scaling the drawing to the display across more than 1 video card. GPU acceleration is a programming module that send calculations to the GPU for processing that were normally processed by the player via the CPU. GPU acceleration does not require or even use SLI to scale across GPU's. That is managed and scheduled by the application.

  • Strange Noise from MSI GTX 770 Gaming

I recently bought a MSI GTX 770 Gaming and it makes a strange noise. It doesn't sound like coil whine to me, more of a clicking. I also don't think its the fans as it makes the exact same noise regardless of fan speeds. However, it does seem directly related to load, the higher the clock speed the louder it gets.
See the below video for the noise, if you listen carefully you can hear towards the end where it transitions from high load -> low load -> high light again.
    Should I be concerned?

    Board:        Asus P6T Deluxe v2
    VGA:           MSI GTX 770 Gaming
    PSU:           Corsair HX750 +3.3V@25A, +5V@25A, +12V@62A, [email protected], +5VSB@3A
    Processor:  Intel Core i7 920 @ 4.0
    MEM:          Corsair Dominator 1600 3x2gb
    HDD:          Samsung Pro 256gb SSD
    COOLER:   Corsair H80i
    OS:            Windows 7 64bit Professional
It is definitely not the fans. The noise is irrelevant to fan speed. Also, did you copy the youtube link? I've heard coil whine and this does not sound the same. It's strange and seems to be coming from the PCB.

  • 2 x GTX 770 bizarre issue.

Thought I'd post here tonight as I'm scratching my head wondering what the issue is.
I removed my 2 GTX 670's and replaced them with 2 MSI GTX 770 Gaming OC's - initially no display but worked out it was a cable issue.
Booted into my working Win 7 64 bit - No sound or rather the sound is just crackling sounds. Removed the sound and video drivers - re-installed - same thing. Tried external USB sound card - same thing.
Clean Windows 7 install - same thing before I even install the sound driver for the on-board sound card.
Basically nothing I can think of should cause this - but essentially I can't get sound on anything, where it once worked before. I'm running a 1200W PSU, so I can't see it being a power issue, so basically I'm wondering if anyone has any thoughts as to why swapping the graphics would stop all sound working.
    TIA

    Finally solved the issue.
After swapping the motherboard again and getting no video, I slightly moved the first video card (after removing the second one) up a little and I got a video signal (we're talking 2mm movement).
Added the second card - nothing. Swapped the power over between card 1 and 2. Nothing. Swapped 6 and 8 pin power leads around (as they are both 8 pin which you can remove 2). PC started.
So basically..........it seems the sound went wonky on board 1, but the power leads wanted to be in a certain way around to work in SLI.
I know everyone is probably thinking it's probably the PSU leads at the PSU end, but they are both 8 pin cables and worked either way around in card 1. So.......just one of those really random, weird things.

You have a great system, but it really depends on what you are editing and what output format is being used.  If you use a lot of MPE accelerated effects and features and down size (like HD to DVD) and/or change frame rates it probably might pay to go with the much more expensive GTX 780 Ti.  If exporting time is not of essence go with the GTX 770.
If you have a lot of high resolution (higher than HD) frames then the 3 GB board may be better for you.
