yes, turned "Warning Tones: off" "Keypad Tones: off" This would make the starting up "SILENT" and when you turning the phone off it will also be "SILENT". This can be done to any Profile of your liking. I put mine to "New Profile" and use that profile as my daily profile.

Catalyst & HDMI audio: problem when turning TV off

Hi everyone,
I've got two PCs with AMD E-350 FPU, one is a laptop running Windows 7 and the other is a nettop running Arch Linux (using Catalyst as a driver for the GPU). On both of them, I'm experiencing a similar problem with sound:
When turning on the computer and the TV, everything works just fine, including sound. However, if I turn off the TV (without disconnecting the HDMI cable) the following happens:
Arch: no sound anymore, even if I turn the TV back on. No visible changes in alsamixer.
Windows: sound through internal speakers. ATI HDMI sound device now shows up as 'Disconnected', even if I turn the TV back on.
Disconnecting the HDMI cable and then inserting it back (while the TV is on again) fixes the problem on both computer, and so does rebooting the computer.
However, even though this seems to not be a Linux-related problem (being etiher a problem with TV's firmware or ATI GPU), I wonder if anyone knows of a more elegant (preferably software, of course ) solution than reconnecting the cable each time I want to turn off my TV and then turn it back on?

I have the same issue in Windows. If I turn-off the TV and turn it back on, there is no sound. Because I have no other sound devices (disabled the others in BIOS setup), the speaker icon shows a red "x". The playback devices screen says HDMI is "unplugged." I have to restart the system or unplug/reconnect the HDMI cord to get sound to come back.

How to disable alarms when iCal is off

Hi all,
I might be missing something here, but I believe there used to be two settings to turn off alarms in 10.4 and 10.5:
1) disable all alarms
2) disable alarms when iCal is off
Did option 2) disappear in 10.6? I am really missing this feature.

I too would like to know a way around this problem. In the prior version of iCal, you could enable alarms only when iCal was running. I routinely sync three computers, sometimes hours to days apart. So unless I remember to turn alarms off prior to shutting down the machines, the alarms are not properly updated upon syncing when an idle machine is turned back on.
Hope this makes sense. Either way, it would have been better if Apple had not gotten rid of this feature in the new iCal.

This link, How to remove or install memory, will provide the source to how to install RAM in your model to be sure you do it properly. The modules need to be pressed fairly hard to assure they are properly seated.

How do I disable sound when sending a text

My iPhone has been doing this lately and it's really annoying especially when all texting sounds have been turned off. It seems this one cannot.
I'm talking about the sound the iPhone makes when it finishes sending a text.
I see no option to turn this off. Is this something new with the latest update?
Have I mentioned that this is really annoying?

There has never been a setting to turn off the send SMS/MMS sound in the iPhone.
There is probably nothing in this world that isn't really annoying to someone.

Why doesn't Aperture rembmer thumbnail size when turning on/off viewer?

I noticed that when I turn on/off the viewer by pressing V, the thumbnail in the browser will go back to the smallest size. Do I have a corrupted preference file or something like that?
Am I the only one experiencing this annoying behavior?

I have added the sites to the trusted sites in IE and that didn't help.
Things are a bit more complicated with the global security settings of the flash player. When I click your link, I see the note (Note: The Settings Manager that you see above is not an image; it is the actual Settings Manager itself.), but no settings manager, so I cannot click any tabs. I can rightclick to go to global settings, but I can find no global security settings. A complicating factor is that I'm located in Poland and even though the installer correctly notes that I'm running an English language Windows system, it will only install flash player in Polish - and translations are usually not so good. So I have an "advanced" tab in the settings manager and I added my secure sites to the trusted sites, even though it says this is for programmers only. Anyway - this didn't help either.
Please help, as this problem has cut me off from my bank account!

No, that's not a problem or fault with the camera.
That's normal. It's a very short duration, partial power flash that the camera fires before the full power flash, to measure the distance to subject and amount of light needed by the flash when it fires. A "pre-flash", if you will.

Ipod makes clicking sound when turning on and tells me to go to supposrt

My older Ipod makes a clicking sound when I turn it on and tells me to go to the support website. Any ideas what the problem is? I don't know what generation it is or what ISO what ever that is, I use. It was bought for my son many years ago and he has moved on to the newer ones,lol. I do know it is bulkly and heavy,

It probably needs service as it's indicative of a hard drive problem.

24 inch makes sound when turned off

When my iMac 24 inch is turned off he keeps making a little sound, as if a small ventilator keeps running. Even after a couple of hours turned of (cooled down) the sound (very soft) is still present.
The only time this sound dissapears is when the computer is turned on and normally running.
Is this normal, does anyone else have this?

990fxa-gd80 hissing sound when turning off pc...

Hello, when I shutdown/restart the pc from windows, it produces a 1 second hissing noise and then shuts off...
Is this a driver problem, a setting problem or a manufacturing problem? Should I worry about it?
I have already downloaded the last drivers.

OSS makes very high-pitched sound when turned on

I recently replaced ALSA with OSSv4 on my Arch install. The sound quality is much clearer, but when I start OSS it makes an extremely loud high-pitched sound.
I have determined that the sound is coming from input-mix, and I have temporarily solved the problem by checking "input-mix-mute" in ossxmix, but sometimes the mixer settings do not get applied when I boot, and I am forced to shut down my laptop to stop the sound. Do you have any idea why input-mix would be outputting this noise? I would really like to get rid of this problem.

Quick update - I brought my iMac to an Apple Store, and they identified the logic board as a probable culprit, suggesting a complete swap of the logic board for a cost of >1000 chf (700 USD) - so for now, I haven't fixed it but bought a electrical socket that I can turn off, which (sort of) fixes the problem.
Unfortunately 2 weeks later the screen decided to give up working, flickering and then pitch-black. Numerous phone calls and store visits later the ony option I'm given is again to replace the logic board. As the unit is over 2 years old and I did not purchase AppleCare, that leaves me between an expensive fit or buying a new one...

Lost contacts when turned cloud off

I lost the contacts on my iphone 4S when a tech guy at work turned off my cloud and had my contacts update to Outlook. I turned the cloud back on, but don't know how to get the contacts back. Now I have duplicates and triplicate contacts, but the phone numbers are all gone.

You may have opted to have iCloud data overwrite your iPhone data rather than merge it.
What happens if you turn off contact syncing on the phone, some users have reported that their contacts are restored.
