N78 Firmware+Software update strangeness/ inbox ma...

Hi, since i updated my phone for the first time via wlan, and restarted sometimes also, the litlle inbox mail icon (the little envelope symbol in the upper right corner) is constanly flashing. Is this a known bug? What can i do about it? It is not only annoying but also confusing, since there are no mails/Sms and so on. I know that normally the icon just appears, and doesn't even flash, if a message has arrived.

Hi, I have that problem when I first buy the phone and insert sim card in it, this is becoz there are some mail hanging in the outbox/draft(either in the phone or sim card memory), delete it, shd solve the problem.

Aluminum Keyboard Firmware Software Update Issue

I keep getting the Aluminum keyboard firmware software update in Software Update. I install it, but then it shows up again. No matter how many times I install it, it does not go away. Any ideas?

Have you verified in System Profiler that your keyboard has the update installed? Is the stated firmware for your keyboard correct?
For a wireless keyboard:
Open System Profiler.
In the Hardware section of System Profiler, select Bluetooth.
Locate the keyboard in the list of Bluetooth devices.
Look in the Firmware Version field: If the version number is 321, the keyboard has been successfully updated.
For a USB keyboard:
Open System Profiler.
In the Hardware section of System Profiler, select USB.
Locate the Apple Keyboard in the list of USB devices.
Look in the Firmware Version field: If the version number is 0.69, the keyboard has been successfully updated.
If it is not correct, manually download the firmware update and install. If System Profiler says that it has been installed then go into Software Update and tell it to ignore that update.

Nokia E72 firmware/software update

Hi all,
I am having problems in opening the Gallery contend: sound, pictures, videos....as soon as I try to open it, it stays as opening and after an hour of "opening", I have to remove the battery.
I did twice hard reset. Formatted the memory card, and twice reinstalled the firmware 053.001 using Nokia software updater, still having the same problem.
Firmware version is 053.001, E72-1, RM530. I cannot update to any recent firmware, it says that the phone is up to date.
I do not understand the way this update works, some gets it some not. I think that any firmware is, or must be and improvement of the function of the phone for all!
I would like to update to the latest one, or at least the 081.003 which I have on different E72 and works well enough.
Any help is welcome

I see now, a bit of google search and found out what debarnding means:
"De-branding basically means removing the firmware set by the operator,
and replacing it with the manufacturers original firmware. Hence
converting your phone to the full spec as it was intended by the
manufacturer. (the way it should be)
...Once your mobile has been de-branded, you will notice all the menu
systems are clearer, un-restricted, and often faster too. The process
will also install the latest firmware to date, which will hold
improvements on your old firmware. This often removes any software
faults & bugs that your phone previously had."
So, the 0591365 = E72 RM530 E-Plus DE Zodium Black Free Navi - V2 - MR, the only firmware available is 53.1 this gap to the latest one 91.4 is missing, the operator just stopped supporting it.
...If I am not wrong.
This phone I bought it from eBay and, and needs a new firmware, at least a better one, this one is not working well.
Maybe this is the reason was sold.

E90 firmware (software update)

hi, i recentrly updated the software for an e90 device. the gps is now better, since for example, when choosing 'network' in previous version and if there was not network aided gps, it would freeze (i had to 'hard boot', as in remove batery, twice, since there is no reset button or hole). now the gps does not freeze if there is no aided network gps and i choose that option. on the down side, now i have trouble when browsing internet. i tried to go to 'www.garfield.com', and it has just ended the browser application without notice more than once. this page (which i place as reference, but it happened also with other page, avery light one, withour flash) is heavy in the sense it has lots of flash objects and videos on the intro page, and it would be heavy even for a pc. one time it just loaded without flash (just the borders of the frames and stuff). if it loads fine, it just quits after a while (after loading part of the intro video). as i said, it happened also in a page that apparently does not have flash or other cpu intensice objects

It seems that Nokia does not want to support old phones any more. We have in our firm old e90 communicators. I try to upgrade firmwares. In my old e90 has firmware version 400.34.93. No when I try to get that same version into another e90 (where is now 400.34.84) Nokia Suite says that there is no firmware available. When I hook my old nokia into Nokia Suite, it says that there is the latest firmware. So. Everyone can do their own conclusion about that. Hey. I have to bye iPhone. Maybe there is same kind of problems.

i saw a button that says update software, so i clicked yes, no this firmware software updated, then i removed it, but my safari still looks differet, i dont have the quick google search bar and my computer is slow.

Nokia 5530 Software Updater

I upgraded my 5530 to v20 firmware using *#0000# but problem is under "Software Updater" inside Applications, i still get the "Phone Software update" and in details it shows v20, when i try to do upgrade, it tell me to upgrade using a PC. I am really confused. *#0000# shows that i have v20 firmware, software updater says updates available...

The software updater app should be there, because it not only updates the firmware; it downloads updates for various apps, like ovi store, the flash player and other stuff.

Nokia N78 firmware update

Whenever i choose to update my phone (N78) software, after donwload completes from internet, at around 13~15% of updgradtion process communication (USB link) with mobile phone drops and systems propts a new hardware is found (Nokia ROM Driver) but after sometime all communication is stopped and updating software keep asking for retry but nothing happens. This is also to be noted that during the whole operation i usually close all firewalls.
Can some one guide me the correct or alternative way to upgrade my cell's software?

Nokia seems to be comitted to improve the user experience... Its really good to know that... They have to do it to survive... BTW Nokia N78 latest firm ware is a little better. The operations seems to be fast.
It has just been a day with the firmware.. So far no problem... I faced a few problems while updating the USB get disconnected when the update is about to begin... but the latest software update program has all required warning... It asked me to restart my pc and my cell phone... And try again ... I did it Alas it worked ... got it updated ...
I found a few things new :
The icons for videos (The one in old version was better) and search are all new.
I am from india. I brought this phone seeing the FM transmitter option. But after i brought the phone i found it missing.
But with this software update i got the option under the music menu :-) thanks a lot nokia.
Few problems with the camera still remains... music volume has come down a bit... the gps seems to be working a little faster.

N78 software update question?

Hi guys,
I want to ask you about some misunderstoodment regareding the latest software for this devise.When i go to Nokia and check if there is a new firmware for my N78 by entering product code it says that the firmware version is the same as mu current now (12.046).The thing is that i can see that there is a newer firmware update (20.149) again shown by Nokia in their latest features, applications and improvements page.Why is this occurring?
P.S.I am not experiencing any problems for now with 12.046 and i like to follow the quote "If it works,don't fix it" and i am hearing that after this update many users find more new bugs after that but someday Nokia will release a stable firmware which i will gladly install

latest firmware version for the N78 is 21.002 not 20.149. there is also a v30 rumoured to be released in the coming weeks. the reason you are getting the message that 12.046 is the latest version for your handset is because your handset is a branded variant (i.e. your network operator has their customisations, logos, wallpapers etc all over it). therefore you may or may not get the 21.002 update for your phone. this is dependent on your operator, as they are provided the newest firmware by Nokia and are given the choice whether or not to customise it to their own tastes, then allow Nokia to release it through either the Nokia Software Updater or FOTA channels. i would suggest haggling your operator to see if they are indeed planning to release 21.002, or have v30 in the works for you. if not, then you will have to give written permission for you to move to generic firmware, after which you can take your phone to your local Nokia Care Centre and they will do this for you. let us know how it goes.

Anyone out there that is working with Motion 3.0.1 on one of the new Macbook Pros (Santa Rosa) and has installed both the Macbook Pro Software Update 1.0 and the EFI Firmware update (for the 15 inch models)???

The solution so far is to wipe the hard drive and reinstall everything from scratch EXCEPT the software update 1.0. However, I'm trying to find out if anyone has installed the Firmware update, which requires the software update to be installed first, and if they are running smoothly.

Macbook air is stuck in a reboot loop after running Software Update. It looks like a firmware update is failing.

I have a first generation Macbook Air running Lion, and just ran software update to get the latest version of iTunes. It appears I may have gotten a firmware update mixed in the bunch, and now it keeps trying to run the update at boot, failing, and shutting down.
I can start the restore partition, and the system appears to function, but I cannot figure out how to abort this failing update so I can use my system, and determine which update is breaking it and why. I've tried resetting the firmware, but that didn't change anything.
There's nothing, not even a the CD drive plugged into the Air, so it's not a peripheral problem.
I could restore from backups, but that seems like a very brute force way to get rid of a firmware update loader.
Does anyone know how to disable these little beasts?

Restart the Air while holding down the shift key, this is safe mode. Once in to the login screen, login then hold the shift key again. It will disable login items, which can be the cause of startup problems. Remove all your login items from your user accout and try a restart (Note the login items if you need to re-add essential ones later). If it all works well, then keep an eye on third party startup items, they will cause you grief!

Why does Apple's Software Update contact themercury.com.au.edgesuite.net ?
I can understand it contacting swquery.apple.com and swscan.apple.com, but what relevance is The Mercury to Software Update?
Note: I saw this yesterday and thought I was mistaken. So I ran it again today and sure enough - same result. No other applications were open, only System Preferences > Software Update!
As most people don't have connection history on display, it may escape notice.
As I reside in Australia that may explain the local angle, but why this newspaper site?. At the network contact there is high network traffic in both directions.

The use of the edgesuite server by what appears to be a newspaper, in this instance

However, it may not be malicious; at least not according to previous history where
the edgesuite services had been involved officially by some large named entities.
A google of their name brings up several points of reference; however these do not

Unless there are news widgets, or other items now in use in your computer, needing update.
Safari can be used to get news feeds, an example of a bizarre connection between these.

Once it is downloaded you need to restart the computer if it does not restart automatically. When it next starts up you should note a progress bar appearing below the Apple logo. When done the computer will restart once more. The new firmware should now be installed.

Serious bug after n78 firmware update

I update the firmware from 12.046 to 12.149 recently but after that am not able to install sis applications and few java applicationa are also not installing or malfunctioning. Have done a deep reset (*#7370#) but the problem remains.

How did you try to reinstall the FW? (Using NSU or Nokia FW Over the Air update also known as FOTA)
as i know there is no option for reinstalling FW for the phone using FOTA. if you wants to reinstall the FW you should try other method of FW installing, that's mean you have to go for NSU (Nokia Software Updater).

Will the Software Update to 10.4.7 install firmware upgrade for a SuperDrive?
I have a Mac mini and I've just let the Software Update run as needed, but I am confused by the number of Apple update downloads listed.
I don't believe I need them, when I just use Software Update?
Seems like a simple question, but I was on Windows for the last 10 years.

I receive a software update for Thunderbolt firmware update 1.2 daily

I'm receiving a Software Update daily. It is the same one. Thunderbolt Firmware Update 1.2. I've updated the MacAir while plugged in and continue to get it.
