N78 keypad issue

Hi,
I have bought a N78 few weeks ago and since the first time I used it I found a problem with keypad.
Often, the press of the ANSWER key (green key) doesn't show the "dialled numbers" screen but it works as I had pressed the LEFT SELECTION KEY shortcut (that is over it).
At the beginnind I thought to a hardware problem due to the keypad of my phone, but 'every time' that it happens if I "enable" and then "disable" the keypad-lock then the ANSWER key came back to work properly!!!, so I think it's a SOFTWARE bug because if it's a HW problem the keypadlock enable->disable trick shouldn't work every time! No?
Is there someone who have the same problem?
I tried also to update the firmware with FOTA to the v11.043.051.1 but without any results.

yes mine has got the same button problem with the back button i am beginning to regret paying £300 now none of my software works ie garmin xt i down loaded laatest update as well media safe wont work eather i would have thought nokia would have made sure software backward compatable.i have had this now for 6 weeks i bought it from cpw sim free as i use 02 simplis card,this is my 4th one now all with button problems cpw say that i cant change it again as its my 4th one i would have to have it repaired i am not bothered about getting it repaired but i dont think they have a fix for the button problem yet so what the use of sending it in till i see on hear that there is a fix.i realey like this phone it would be a keeper for me i only hope they come up with an answer for the button and 3rd party soft ware compatibly.dose anyone else have garmin xt working on n78 i would love to know if there is a fix.(COME ON NOKIA WHATS WRONG WITH THE BUTTONS IS IT A SOFTWARE OR HARDWARE FIX)Nokia n78 Firmware is V11.043

8700g Strange Keypad Issue: Letters typed do not appear on screen

I support two 8700g users. I too am an 8700g user and have not experienced this problem: randomly and intermittently, the users report when they are typing messages on the keypad, strange combinations of letters appear instead. There is no apparent pattern to which keys are pressed, what order they are pressed in, or what appears on the screen; this, too, is random. This aggravating problem appears and disappears at will whether or not the battery is removed or not. Of the two units, one is brand new as of January 2008 while the other has had some exposure to water and has been wiped twice, once for this weird keypad issue. The language selected is English and the auto-text is off on both units. The units otherwise work according to specification. We are on a BES using MS Exchange. I have read on other boards sometimes there are identifiable patterns in what is keyed and what appears, but I have not been able to establish such patterns with these users. Can anyone offer a diagnosis and a permanent solution? Thank you.

Thank you, Bifocals, for your reply! Memory is an issue, but more importantly a recognizable pattern DID emerge so I could identify and resolve the issue: when the user typed "a" they got "on on" and when they typed "no" they got "pt no pot" - which I learned is caused by the input language accidentally being changed to Catala. I learned via this and in other BB forums the input language can be easily changed when the ALT and CAP keys are pressed simultaneously, the old way of locking the keyboard on the BB 7250.

Keypad issue when typing

Hi.
I'm having keypad issues with my Blackberry Curve 3G. It has been fine all day but since about 5pm, when I press the green 'call' button, it has been bringing up the letters 'jk'. It also does the same thing when I type 'f', 'j', 'k' and use the caps button. Last time a software update fixed this, however I am now using the latest OS.
My daughter got hold of it earlier and had one corner of it in her mouth. Could this be the issue? Will it rectify itself once dried out?

N78 Key issue

Hi All,
i've had a N78 for 4 days now, and i love it, but I am not sure if the problem I am encountering is software or a hardware fault.
The right short cut key (just below the right hand side of the screen) does not always function correctly.
for example if I am listening to music & i am in the player windows & I wish to go back a screen to the track listing, it does not do this at all or if it does it go straight back to the home screen.
My right shortcut on the home screen is for the clock, if i want to access this to change my morning alarm , i cannot because the key does not recognise me pushing down on it.
used outside of these two applications the button seems to work fine.
This is an issue that crops up several times a day & is starting to get annoying especially when listening to music.
any ideas?

If that option is open to you then there's no harm in trying it.
But if it is a software issue the replacement will have the same issue.
You should try the hard reset before getting another one. All data will be wiped when you do the reset, so it's worthwhile doing anyway if you are replacing it.
Hard reset:
1. Switch off the phone.
2. Hold down the following three buttons: Green (the call answer button), * button, and '3' button.
3. While holding these buttons, press the power button and switch on the phone.
4. Release when the phone shows the nokia logo or shows other signs of life like the language selection screen.

Yesterday I bought New DM4 series HP pavillion. After I reach home when i checked my laptop. I found one of the key from keypad coming out of pad when i presses over the key. I called to HP dealer. But he said "U contact HP sevice centre we have no idea about this" What shal i do further?? Suggestions required

I don't think it will b exploded in Consignment Issue as it has already exploded in Consignment fill up. Consignment issue means what selling the stock which is at consignee's place so it dose not have to b exploded. u carr on like that and see what is the flow if it is ok then go on otherwise u let me know the problem.

E66: "press unlock to activate keypad" issue

hi,
i've been using the phone for a few months now and i noticed recently that sometimes,when i lock the keypad, i get the "press unlock to activate keypad" message, on and on, without me touching any buttons at all. It just keeps appearing very rapidly.the backlight goes off but the screensaver won't start because of this message that keeps appearing as if i was pressing one of the buttons continuously.
whether i use the slide or the keys to lock the phone, it happens anyway.
if i unlock the keypad everything works well, no problems at all.
it doesn't happen all the time, but is really annoying when it does.

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
Anytime random strange behavior or sluggishness creeps in, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.

Keypad issues since update...

Ever since the update I am having issues with my Droid X keypad. Whenever I try to type the keypad will disappear or it won't type the correct letters and it becomes quite a mess. I thought maybe it was my texing app but it appears to be happening in any app I try to type in. I took it to the Verizon store and the guy switched it into the swype mode and it seems to work like that, but I don't like swyping and I don't like pecking in the swype mode. He said it was an issue with the new software but had a replacement phone sent to me anyway. Still the same problem with the replacement phone. Anyone else expereiencing the same issue and possibly know of a fix?

Sometimes clearing the learned words from the Settings / Lauguage and Keyboard / Multi-Touch Keyboard / Clear Learned Words helps....

Alfa numerical keypad issue after fp2 update: spe...

in fp2 update in alfa numerical keypad predictive text tab has been given at the top of keypad. But nokia has forgot to develop that text box where we need to type has to shift by that much height accordingly. So as a result of that we need to type blindly. Please give your feedback on this so nokia has to fix it immediately. Also lef.and right arrow has been made temporary after ye tap at text box. But it's not working properly. And also not working in all application.these are the biggest blunder in this software update.nokia fix it.immediately.

Nokia have pulled the FP2 update due to numerous bug reports and complaints, so are aware of certain issues and a fix should be provided in the future.

Hello there ...
I faces some problems with the left/right Selection keys.
they sometimes and for no reason don't respond, first i thought it is a problem with the keypad itself, so by pressing a little harder it would do the trick, but that's not the case.
this bug occured in several applications/places.

there is another problem which i forgot to mention, it's very annoying too!
the right key most of the time goes to the main phone screen when i press on it to go back/cancel when inside any tool/application or webbrowser.
sometimes it just behaves like the Hangup button when pressed!
is this a software problem ?
or may this be a faulty keypad ?

I recently installed the latese update 7.1.1. on my iPod 4 and now am having issues when using the keypad when say typing in a facebook message or a comment on a forum. If I try and place the curser at a point previous in the typed message(to maybe add or correct some text) I cant, I need to close the keypad and open it again to continue. I never had this issue or any other issue using the keypad prior to installing this update. Keypad issues

I'm having an issue with my keypad screen. When I'm trying to "Press 4" while on a call, the keypad screen appears randomly for a second then disappears. It takes a while to press any key, and then sometimes it gets the number more than once, since I'm pressing repeatedly to try to hit when the keypad is there. Any ideas? Thanks.

Does the whole screen go blank? It could be the setting that turns the screen off while on a call to save on battery, it uses the front facing camera to detect your head (or hand perhaps in this case) and blank the screen.

N78 KEYPAD PROBLEMS

I am now on my second N78 and am still having the same problem with the keypad. It works fine and then the only key that works on the keypad is the menu key. I have to take off the back cover to remove the battery as this is the only way to restart the phone, and restarting appears to be the only way to resolve the faulty keypad.
Anyone got any suggestions ?

What is happening in regards to this latest upgrade to iOS7 causing slow keypad response? Is Apple going to address this issue with an update? This is a real problem in the event of needing your phone to make an emergency call or text!!! The slow response could be dangerous! Example: Deaf or Hard of Hearing individuals communicate almost exclusively by text, user to user as well as to a relay service.

I'm trying to roll back to iOS 6 for this and other reasons. People here on the forums say you can't but that doesn't make any sense.

Lumia 720 - screen feeze and keypad issues

My lumia 720 has for a for a while now started to freeze when doing anything! Initially the phone seems to do weird things like the keypad pops up and srarts typing randomly then after a second or two the screen will just freeze and will not respond to anything. I have to press the lock screen button to lock the phone then unlock it to be able to use my phone again. Initially the problem only occurred once every week but now it happens every few minutes and is becoming untolerable. I really need to get this issue fixed! Has anyone come across the same issue and got it resolved. Nokia please help!

Sorry to hear this. Here are the troubleshootings that we can do on your phone:
1. Restart your phone.
Press and hold the Power and Volume Down keys simultaneously for 10-15 seconds. Release and the phone will restart. If the problem persists, reset and restore your phone as instructed below.
* Just a quick reminder, doing the reset will wipe off everything that you have on the phone. In case the phone is not responding anymore to anything, we can't do anything to save them. However, if your Windows Live account is signed in on the phone, your contacts, pictures and videos will be synchronized to it.
2. Reset and restore your phone.
Important: This erases all personal content on your phone and restores the factory settings.
Make sure your phone’s battery level is above 50%. To check the remaining battery life, go to Settings > battery saver > battery info. If you are not able to check it, or the level is too low, charge your phone for at least 20 minutes.
Switch off your phone, and disconnect the charger.
Press and hold the volume down key, and connect the charger. An exclamation mark (!) is shown on the screen.
Press the keys in the following order: volume up, volume down, power, and volume down. Your phone resets, and boots up. This may take several minutes.
3. Update your phone software
You may not be using the most recent software for your phone.
To check if there is new software available for your phone, on the start screen, swipe left, and tap Settings > phone update > check for updates.
