N78 Strange 'no signal' problem

My N78 is about 7 months old. Apart from the awful buttons and poor GPS, everything has worked fine up to now. It's normally used with the same SIM card but occasionally I use others (which are normally used in my Internet key (or dongle I think it's called in the UK)... Anyway, yesterday I decided to try to fix a small problem I'd had (that was that the phone didn't vibrate when messages were received). Apparently the problem sometimes happens after connecting to a PC with the USB cable. All I did was a simple turning off and removal of the battery. When the phone was powered on again there was no signal. The SIM card is there (as SIM stored numbers are visible in the contacts list). After a lot of checking of settings and searching for networks (both home network and foreign networks as I live on an International border [Italy-Slovenia-Croatia]) I did a soft reset and later a hard reset but with no luck either. By chance I still had my old phone (small clamshell Nokia) and the SIM worked fine in that. Also by chance I decided to use one of my other SIMs in the N78 just to see what would happen. Amazingly they worked fine with full signal strength. So what can the problem be? The SIM is obviously fine as it works in the other phone. The phone is obviously also fine because other SIMs work in it.... Any ideas?

hey i also have a N78 and ive had no probelms, as for the gps i dont know why you say thats poor if u look at gsmarena.com they rate the N78 as the best gps units for any nokia, it works brilliant for me too, you should try a software upgrade unfortunately i cant in SA, mabye this could help with ur signal problem

Wrt54g strange signal problem

I have a new wrt54g and I have a strange signal problem. When I am in the house close to the router I only have a good signal (3 bars) but when I take the notebook outside or all the way in the back bedroom I have a excellent signal (5 bars). I am thinking that something in the house might be interfereing with the signal but I have tried changing the channel and still have only 3 bars when in the house, and 6 bars when I take the notebook outside or to the back bedroom. I am using wap but I tried disabling it and still only 3 bars when around the router.
Any thoughts, and thanks in advance.

I tried it all but still the same but I did find this, when I take then computer in the back of the house or outside the signal goes up to excellent and stays there even if i take it back in the front of the house where I previously only had a good signal. But the only way to get a excellent signal is to take it far off from the router but once it does get a excellent signal it will stay there even when I take back around the router, crazy I know.
Any more advise or thoughts?

Sure Signal Problems

Our Vodafone Sure Signal stopped working last month. Vodafone have checked what they needed to and said all is OK. They have advised I speak to our ISP(BT) and check the router settings. Tried doing this through Live Chat, told they are "not trained" for this!
Can I see what the settings are without going through BT?

If you are on option 1, then your IP address may be shared, which may stop it working. Did you change anything a month ago, like enabling Parental controls?

Galaxy Nexus Signal Problem

Ok, I've had dozens of Verizon Phones but something is going really wrong with the Galaxy Nexus that I own. It started out as the best device that I have ever owned. Then I had a problem with it non-related to the signal issues. The tier two tech support had me do a software update on the phone and ever since, the 4G, 3G and phone signal truly struggle. Calls are dropped. Texts wont go through. And internet is often inaccessible. This is all intermittent and untraceable as far as a pattern goes. So Verizon sent me a replacement device. It was worse...to the point that it would not connect to anything reliably, including wifi. They sent me another device and it was more of the same. I am now out of town and having the problems continue with my original phone. A third device is waiting at my house for what Verizon thinks will solve the problem. I'm hoping it is the answer.
Who else is having these problems. Tier Two tells me that this is not a common problem with this phone. It's hard to believe because, I am 0-4 on this device. Also, if you are having problems, did you start having problems in July/August when an update was possibly released?

I just bought a nexus fully aware of the signal problems but was assured by best buy that it is a sim card issue and they would repeatedly replace the sim card until it worked. I am running 4.0.4 the phone was updated before I bought it or came with the update as it was in an unopened box brand new. I have not had any issues other than I cant seem to get more than 2 bars of service in places where my old phone had full signal. so for those of you waiting for an update it may fix some issues but as far as I am concerned it does not fix the signal problem. I bought 3 of these phones and all three have not gone over 2 bars in multiple locations. no other issues though, phone is very fast and easy to operate and battery is what to be expected on this type of phone as far as I am concerned.

Update to iOS 5 Signal Problems?

hi, i was wondering if anyone experienced some signal problems after ios 5 update? I did and when i was using the beta, it gave me full bars and never dropped calls but after i updated to the final version, my calls started to drop and text messages wouldn't send or recieve. Just wondering if anyone else notices this? I think that the iOS 5 Beta 7 is better then this final version..

I didn't notice any signal problems until today. Today my phone (iPhone 4 AT&T) has become virtually unusable. I upgraded on Wednesday and post upgrade didn't have any major problems other than the occasional application crash. Today my phone will not hold onto a signal for more than 30 seconds. Even if I'm sitting still, the signal drops and the phone goes into searching, no signal and finally reacquires and the cycle starts again. Battery drain is rapid, I'm guessing because it's constantly having to go into signal search mode. Twice the phone has had a hard lockup today where only the home-top button press would resolve.
At this point, I would recommend people not upgrade their iPhone 4 to the new OS. Stability is an issue in many apps and now this signal problem is making my smartphone feel quite stupid.

South Africa - Pretoria: I got my BB 9300 end February and since then I have a signal problem, it is always searching for signal, it will go on SOS and when somebody calls me I can talk for 30 seconds and then it say "call failed". They can't hear me when they call me and I can't hear them. I had the BB Curve 8900 before and had no problems. We have 5 Vodacom phones, 3 cell c, 2 mtn and 1 Heita and they have no problems with signal. My daughter has the bb 8520 as well with no problems. Secondly it is on BES in stead of BIS, I took it to Vodacom but they van't help me.

I have a strange 3g data problem.

I have a strange 3g data problem. At home I have zero 3G connectivity even though all bars are showing and says "3G" and wifi is "Off" ... unless I am on the phone and then magically the 3G data connection works perfectly!! Also called ATT and they said there was no problem with the network and that it was a hardware issue. Also restored the phone several times but the problem did not go away.

OK, no trouble shooting. The first thing I'd attempt is restarting in Safe Mode. If you still don't have luck try doing both a SMC and PRAM reset, it wouldn't hurt to do the SMC reset a couple of times. If still no luck let us know.
SMC RESET
Shut down the computer.
Unplug the computer's power cord and all peripherals.
Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.
Release the power button.
Attach the computers power cable.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.
PRAM RESET
Shut down the computer.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
Release the keys.

IOS5 signal problem on iPhone 4

Updated my iphone 4 to iOS5 yesterday and today I'm having lots of problems with low signal.
The signal seems to fluctuate between one bar, then to 'searching', before saying 'no signal' and then it shoots up to full signal temporarily before going through the whole cycle again.
Phone calls keep getting cut off because of this. Restarting the phone seems to fix the problem but only for a while.
Never had any signal problems before with this phone, even with the whole antenna thing.
Anyone else having similar problems? Found some other threads online but most seem to be for jailbroken phones... mine isn't.

Tried restoring to factory settings yesterday and that seems to have cleared it up. Looked at my phone once last night to see 'no signal' but I restarted it and has been fine since. Have made phone calls and used the internet today and the signal hasn't dropped (which is what was happening before). Its a pain in the arse but at least it's working for the time being.
When I couldn't get signal someone rang O2 and Apple for me. Both said it was the first they had heard about this and to try re-installing the software. I'd already done the restore to factory settings by this point though so not sure if that would help.

I am having wireless wifi signal problems on my ipad 2 64GB 3G

All other gadgets and laptop is connecting easily with good signal strength but my ipad 2 is having signal problems, unless i dont sit right in front or very near to the router i cannot have enough signals, does this issue come under warranty ? as ipad 2 64gb is **** expensive and its useless if you cannot even browse anything on it.

Additional things to try.
Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
On your iPad go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset network settings and see if that enables you to connect.

Apple has not made any changes to the iPhone 4 since its release. The over 80 million people with the phones don't seem to think there's a serious problem.

Please describe whether your two AirPort base stations are both 802.11n-capable. Also describe how you configured them. Did you configure the AirPort Extreme to "allow this network to be extended"? Did you configure the AirPort Express to "extend a wireless network"?

Strange signal problem

ok so i have a an airport express and just recently bought an airport extreme. i am using the airport extreme as the main base station and use the express to boost the signal. the base station is down stairs and i want to get the signal across the house and up one story. i have the express in the middle of the base station and my room. the distance across the house is probably 50 feet. i can get a great signal in my room and i can hook up to iChat and can check my email using the Mail program, but i can't connect to the internet using Safari. when i try it says "check network connection" but i am still conected to iChat. Anyone have any suggestions?
