  • PC Suite - Nokia Communications Centre is not Init...

I am running Nokia PC Suite v.7.1.180.94 with bluetooth on both a laptop (Win 7) and desktop (Win 8). Everything is fine on the desktop but, about a month ago, a problem started with the connection to the laptop. Bluetooth is working, the little icon on the taskbar tells me Nokia PC Suite is connected via bluetooth and, after starting PC Suite, my phone name (a Nokia 300) is on the list displayed. However, when I click on any option i.e. Contacts, Messages etc. Nokia Communications Centre (v.2) starts initialising, but never fully loads - sometimes it gets as far as 34% and then stalls.
There appears to be nothing wrong with the phone and it works fine with the desktop. The same software version is loaded on both computers and everything worked fine on the laptop until recently. No apparent changes have been made to the laptop to coincide with the start of the problem.
I'd be grateful for any help in sorting out this problem.
    Many thanks.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Many thanks for the advice. I tried using the cable and everything worked okay. As both my laptop and desktop were using a bluetooth dongle, I swapped them. The laptop works fine now, so it must be a fault with the bluetooth dongle.
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. Rgds, SMM

  • Desktop calendar for PC Suite/Nokia 5500?

I don't use MS Outlook, but want a basic desktop calendar that will sync with my 5500. At the moment, I can't back-up calendar entries or create and amend them on my PC - very frustrating.
Anyone found an application or add-on that integrates with Nokia PC Suite?

So, you can only use the full Outlook or Lotus Notes/Organizer, I think, if you want PC Suite sync with a calendar.
Once again good catch - a bit too quick for my own good

  • Nokia N96 and Nokia Communication Centre

    hi all,
i back upped my contacts in a csv file and in a txt file.
because the txt file is easier to update a manually add some more info in the txt file.
after i was done i removed all my existing contacts in my phone and import that txt file i had saved.
after 50% it gaves a messages that everything is imported.
BUT.. none of those mobile ore home numbers are imported.
I've got a contact with only email information and website information.
so i thaught.. maybe is something went wrong..
lets import the originally text file in my phone.
    same problem.
another try is to import the csv file and this import gave me the same answer...
what do i have to do?

  • PC Suite & Nokia N95 Backup/Restore

My N95 doesn't seem to want to do a Backup let alone restore...
Keeps hanging at 66% backup when it hits 'phone specific' stuff - the last one on the list.
I have the most recent PC Suite - has anyone else suffered from this problem?
Yup, life sure moves pretty fast...

Out of interest do you get any type of error message when PC Suite is attempting to backup your Messages ? Also - give it some time to back up - I've left it for a good 20 minutes just to see whether it times out or comes back with any specific error message.
I experienced a similar issue and it was down to having to reinstall the MMS Sync component of PC Suite.
Two things I would try are :
    1) As a previous poster recommended - just try backing up to the memory card to see whether this works OK or not. Not being able to do so would indicate it's not a PC Suite related issue and localised to the phone itself.
    2) Try reinstall PC Suite functionality on the phone itself. With the N95 connected to your PC, load up PC Suite (the main program which gives an overview of all the applications that collectively comprise of PC Suite), then goto the Help Menu and choose "Reinstall PC Suite support on your phone" - then try backing up again.
If both of these steps fail, I'd recomend wiping your phone to a factory reset condition (although your memory card should NOT be affected if you follow the link below - but to be safe I'd take it out nevertheless !). The only problem with this solution is that it leaves you in the recursive problem of having to wipe a phone you want to take a backup of (!). Hopefully however, you won't have to do this ...
To reset your phone, follow the instructions in this link :
    /discussions/board/message?board.id=smartphones&message.id=4007
However please be aware that doing so will wipe ALL the data from your phone such as information in your calendar, contacts and so on.
In order to save your data you can use the PC Suite application to save and restore the data from your phone - this software can be found here :
    http://www.nokia.com/pcsuite
If this doesn't work then it's likely you have a hardware fault and you should approach your local Nokia Service Centre to get your phone fixed.
    Hope this helps.
Please let me know how you get on.

  • Nokia Communication Centre missing some contacts

    Good Night
I'm using Nokia PC Suite 7.1.18.0 on a Windows Vista Ultimate x64 Sp1 connected through bluetooth and in Nokia Communication Centre is missing some of my phone (Nokia E51) contacts.
I got this issue since older versions of Nokia PC Suite (7.0.x) and Nokia Communication Centre (1.0).
All my contacts on the mobile phone are saved on the phone's memory.
    Ty
    E50 -> E51 -> E52

I have a similar problem with Communication Centre 2. (Pc Suite 7.1.18.0
When I am selecting a group in CC 2, they are some members missing (for example, in one group with 22 members on the phone, they are only 17 showing in communication center)
When viewing all contacts on CC 2 (not only those from a group), all contacts become visible.
When I then select a contact that is missing in a group (in CC2) and when I try to add it to the correct group I get an error message "The contact has not been added to the group because of errors. Try later" (it's translated from the french version of CC 2)
As I said in an older post, one thing that doesn't change with the time in PC Suite : the bugs !
Shame on Nokia for this software...

  • Nokia Communication Centre = Poor

    Hi there everyone,
I've been using Nokia's Communication Centre and quite disappointed about it's usage.
    1) The worst behavior is by design: the program needs to poll the phone to trap changes, and that operation is slow and dangerous for the phone's battery.
If kept active, the program can drain quickly the battery. As I've said it is SLOW.
There are many SMS manager out there that do a much better job, synching the phone with an offline archive on the PC, speeding up operations. Why did Nokia go for such a poor design?
Is there any chance we will get a better performance?
    2) NCC doesn't understand formatted numbers; for example, my archive has some hundreds numbers imported from Outlook address book and each number needs to be edited before it can be used otherwise NCC issues an ERROR.
Example: phone numbers like +44 (392) 334.5678 aren't accepted due to brackets and dots.... unbelievable! Is it too much to ask for a parse-number-before-you dial?
    3) Could it be possible to use NCC to dial numbers on the phone using the address book?
    4) moreover it seems it's impossible to find Nokia's support on software.... you keep being redirected from one site to another...

    Hi ric965,
First of all could you please inform which phone are you using????
For your (1) & (3), you can check your settings section when your phone is connected with PC Suite by clicking in Nokia PC Suite's Settings - Settings - General - Notification options - You can see the notifications for incoming calls/messages and battery level notification.  If your phone do support this feature, in Nokia communication centre, you can select any contact and you can dial by pressing call option in ncc.
If you see clearly in Note they have mentioned : Displaying the notifications increases the energy consumption of your device battery.  Deselect all the notification types if you want to save device battery.
    2) Already a long discussion is going on this forum related to receipient is not valid, if any of the contact has got brackets, ncc will not send messages to those numbers. Since more customers are complaining regarding this, we expect from nokia that it should be corrected in next releases of PC suites
    4) which software are you talking about
        nokia pc suite 7.1 ??? nokia.com/pcsuite
        OVI Suite???? http://www.ovi.com/services/support/nokiaovisuite
        photos ???? nokia.com/photos
Which software exactly do you want to download from Nokia ????

  • Nokia Communication Centre Timestamps are Wrong

Hi, my problem is somewhat odd and difficult to explain, but I'll try my best
I've installed Nokia Pc Suite with Communication Centre, and after CC has finished retrieving all the messages from my mobile I find that their timestamps are wrong, while on my mobile they are OK. For example, a message I received at 11.05 PM is stamped as received at 1.05 AM of the day after on Communication Centre. I already made sure that the time zone on my mobile is the same as on my computer (GMT+1 - Italy), and another odd thing is that if I change the time zone on my mobile to GMT+3, the timestamps of Communication Centre suddenly get fixed.
I have a Nokia 3110 Classic. I hope someone out there will be able to help me out

P.S.: I found some threads on the web discussing the same problem: could this be a known bug?

  • PC Suite: Nokia Image Storage & PC Sync won't laun...

    Hey all!
I have a problem storing the photos taken by the N73 camera to my computer. Nokia PC Suite includes a software for this. I believe it's named Image Store and it's available from the Nokia PC Suite main window. The problem is that the Image Store software won't launch for some reason.
This is a very recent problem that I have discovered only yesterday. Prior to that, I have not made any changes to my system nor installed any addional software. I have not even updated the Nokia PC Suite package, even though I was getting alerts about new updates. The most wired thing is that it all worked perfectly last time, and that was like two weeks ago or so.
Yesterday, I had Nokia PC Suite version 7.1.40.6. In an attempt to make the damn thing work I have updated the Nokia PC Suite to version 7.1.51.0. Guess what? It didn't work!
I have also found that all the other software included in Nokia PC Suite worked flawlessly, except for the Music and Get maps icons in Nokia PC Suite which I believe are only links to either Nokia website or the Nokia music shop which I don't use anyway.
    Säkerhetskopiera (Nokia Content Copier)
    Synkronisera (Nokia PC Sync)
Anslut till Internet (One Touch Access)
    Kontakter (Nokia Communication Centre)
    Meddelanden (Nokia Communication Centre)
    Kalender (Nokia Communication Centre)
    Filhanterare (Nokia Phone Browser)
    Lagra bilder N/A
    Överföra videor (Nokia Video Manager)
    Installera program (Nokia Application Installer)
    Upptäck musik N/A
    Uppdatera telefonens programvara N/A
    Hämta kartor N/A
As you can see, the names of the software packages are localized in Swedish. Sorry about that, but I did write the their corresponding official (given) names within paranthesis, so no complaints please. The only software I didn't get the name for is the "Lagra bilder" which I believed is really named Nokia Image Storage in the English versions of Nokia PC Suite. Correct me if I'm wrong. The "upptäck musik" and "hämta kartor" translates to "discover music" and "get maps" in English. So there you have it. By the way, what's with Nokia and these naming conventions?... it's silly! Use the real name of the software that you have adopted, like Nokia Content Copier, you don't need to actually localize the name of the software itself... just stupid.
When I click on the "Upptäck musik" my web browser is trying to download SetupOviPlayer.exe. I don't need that.
When I click the "Uppdatera telefonens programvara" icon I get a rather alarming message.
This application is not available for Nokia PC Suite anymore. Use Nokia Ovi Suite instead. Vill du ladda ned och installera Nokia Ovi Suite nu?
The "Hämta kartor" icon points to http://europe.nokia.com/maps which re-directs to http://maps.nokia.com/services-and-apps/ovi-maps/ovi-maps-main.
Well, I don't want to do anything with the Nokia Maps or Ovi or what so ever. Can't you guys at Nokia understand that?! I don't need a thousand f*ing software packages out of which only a fraction is actually working?! This really **bleep** me off!
The message above, telling me that phone updates are not available anymore through Nokia PC Suite is rather alarming in my opinion. At the Nokia headquarters they have obviously made the (wrong) decision to push the OFF button, or pull the plug if you prefer to put it that way.
Just simply shutting off such an important function of the Nokia software whilst still preserving other none as important functionalities really makes me loose my any further interest in Nokia as a company or their products. I don't want to do anything with them any further.
The message above implies that I may be able to use the Ovi Suite to perform the tasks I need. But I have always been using Nokia PC Suite. I don't know anything about Ovi Suite, and I don't want to use that instead. I am much more comfortable with using a software that I have been using in some extent for the last eight years.
I would say that I have been a very loyal Nokia fan. I have even had two of their satellite receivers few years ago. At that time I considered them as the very best in the satellite receiver business. That time is gone and Nokia doesn't make satellite receivers anymore. Now they are ditching their smartphone business as well. I am glad I have switched to other manufacturer - I have indeed already made the switch to a competing company.
The only thing I'm interested in right now is how to make the switch to a competing company easy. I have already bought a new smartphone which replaces my Nokia N73. But of course I need my information stored on the N73, and Nokia doesn't seem to be interested in allowing me to do just that.
So I can't get access to Nokia Image Storage or Nokia PC Sync. So how the hell am I supposed to copy my photos from the phone to the computer? And how do I copy my contacts information to my computer?
Thanks Nokia! It was great using your products while they still were good and among the best on the market. Now I'm leaving you. You have lost me as a customer.

"So I can't get access to Nokia Image Storage or Nokia PC Sync."
    Correction:
I can't get access to Nokia Image Store. The Nokia PC Sync seems to work fine so far.
    Update:
I did install the Nokia Ovi Suite, all the 98,1 MB of it! But did it resolve the problem? No! The installation was a sucess but it kept crashing after the system restart, it just woudn't respond at all, no errors shown thou. After three system restarts I was able to actually launch it manually (no autorun) from the Start menu in Windows and it didn't crash or become unresponsive, although it was a bit slow. I was able to connect the phone and it found the phone and installed the drivers automatically. So that's a plus.
"Your device Nokia N73 is now connected"
I named the phone to simply Nokia N73 and proceeded to create a new Nokia account on the last page of the setup wizard. I wrote a user name which turned out to be free. The way it works is that it checks if the name is taken or not in real time. During that short period of time a small icon appears on the right of the user name, like the hour glas, to indicate that it's fetching information about available user names. When done, it disappears if the name is not taken.
I typed in a password, confirmed it and clicked on the Next button. But I regreted the user name I had chosen because I already had a similar name for another account so I clicked the Back button but the icon on the right of the user name appeared again, as if checking if it's taken or not, even thou we have already concluded that the name was available. Only this time the icon wouldn't disappear, and for that reason I could not click on the password field to change password or click on the Next button again to continue anyway, not until it had done checking if the user name was available and the icon on the right disappears. I waited for 15 minutes without doing anything on my computer, then got tired of it and clicked the "Skip this for now" link to abort.
My first impressions of Nokia Ovi Suite are not too good but not too bad either. I would rate this software as 7 on a scale of 1 to 10. It could have been better. It obviously has some problems that need to be corrected.
I installed version 2.2.1.23 of Nokia Ovi Suite.
My computer is based on Intel Core 2 Duo, E4500, 2.2 GHz. It has 4096 MB of DDR2 RAM memory and Radeon HD5850 graphics adapter on a Gigabyte GA-X38-DQ6 board. The operating system is a genuine copy of Microsoft Windows Vista, 64-bit edition. In other words, it should be capable of not only running the Nokia Ovi Suite but totally outperforming it (i.e. running a dozen of instances of the software simultaneously).
So the question is not if the computer is capable of running this software. It meets and exceeds the system requirements. I just want to rule those FAQ type of things out directly. But I can imagine that some computers may have difficulties, especially with the graphical elements of the Nokia Ovi Suite.
All in all, Ovi Suite is a pretty good software, but it obviously needs to be improved further. That's why I don't understand why Nokia decided to aboandoned a pretty mature software like the Nokia PC Suite in favor of Ovi Suite, even thou the PC Suite was far from perfect.
The worst thing about Nokia PC Suite for me has always been problems with the drivers. But that's because the Nokia team seemed to be uncapable or didn't care much to write good drivers for the compatible devices. But the software applications included in the PC Suite were actually pretty good and capable.
I hope you don't make the same mistakes with Ovi Suite as you did with PC Suite. And I hope you will continue to maintain and develop PC Suite, prallell to Ovi Suite, at least for compatibility reasons if no other.

  • Calendar events not showing in notification centre

Was hoping there was someone out there that may have experienced the same problem, and has a solution.
I have noticed this morning that after upgrading to OS X Yosemite, I do not have my calendar events showing in notification centre. I cannot be sure that this is a result of upgrading to Yosemite.
Problem #1: In the today tab on notifications, an event did not show up for today, in both notification centre on my Mac, and on my iPhone. This seems to have been solved by changing the event from an all day event, to set hours. Is there a way that all-day events can be shown in notification centre?
Problem #2: In the today tab on notifications, down the very bottom, my Mac says there are no scheduled events for tomorrow. On the same tab on my iPhone, it says "there are 2 all-day events scheduled". Similarly, the event is listed in the notifications tab (not the today tab), in notifications centre on my phone, until you press on the event and it flicks you through to your calendar. Is anyone aware of why these events would not be showing up on my mac's notification centre?? I am assuming it has nothing to do with changing it from an all-day event, because it shows up on one device, but not another.
Calendar is switched on for notification centre on iPhone and mac.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Brendo

I found when I created an event, I needed to add an alert to it. Then it started showing up.

  • Complaint of nokia care centre in punjab india

i bought a nokia c5 mobile fone in feb 2012. after 6 months its charging port got damaged. when i showed it to nokia care in my district in sangrur (punjab) , they repaired it out of warrantee and took 1000 rupees. after this in december 2012 its display got damaged.  this time people at this care centre were not able to make out what actually went wrong with the fone. they said that a new display will cost me 1600 rupees (again out of warrantee).  they kept my fone for two days and after two days they said that the fone cant be repaired.  then i took my fone to a nokia care centre at chandigarh.  they said that TWO IC's have been taken out from the mobile by someone and now the fone is a mere garbage !!!!
moreover folks at chd centre told me that the earlier repair of the charging port is not present anywhere in the records of nokia.

I have a "3" phone that I unlocked officially by 3.  OS updated on 2nd Feb but Firmware isnt updated and I am tired of waiting, especially that I have intermittent problems that I've described in "100% correlation with main instability and battery problem of Lumia - Current higher than 160 mAh" post.
In Jan, a helpful contributor to the forum (metalman) suggested to take the device to a "Nokia Care Centre" so that they will install a generic (ie not "3" branded) OS, but in finchley Road Carphone Warehouse where they do have a Nokia Care Centre told me today that they still dont have the knowkedge on how to work with the Lumia.

Bcz my nokia C1-01 have nokia ovi suite, when my computer install Nokia pc suite & connect, then my mobile display show 'nokia ovi suite' & 'mass storage' when click 'nokia ovi suite' can't find my mobile in my computer!

The USB mode in your Nokia might be called Modem, PC Suite or Nokia Suite, or even Nokia Ovi Suite. In your phone, all these four USB modes are the same.
The PC Suite and the Nokia Suite are two different software titles which can be used in parallel. Furthermore, the Nokia Suite is the successor of (replaced) the Nokia Ovi Suite.
Before you download and install all these software, I recommend to install the latest Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver first.
If that did not help, please, plug-in your Nokia, select that Suite mode, and go to to Windows » Start » Contol Panel (» Hardware » Devices) » Device-Manager » USB » right-click on your Nokia » Update Driver Software. Did that help?
