With this, i cant even update or reinstall my phone software.. is my phone ok?

  • Connected in a non-compatible USB mode?

Well, first of all, I guess I should "howdy from a newbie"
I bought my Lumia 820 a few days back, and after having a few set-up quirks, things seem to be going quite well.
I can only see one problem left, and that's as the title suggests, and was wondering if you guys would be able to help with that one.
When I connect the phone up to the PC (running Windows XP SP3), and having Nokia Suite 3.6.36 running, it comes up telling me that the phone is 'connected in a non-compatible USB mode', preventing me from doing anything in Nokia Suite.
Any clues as to what I would need to do to correct this please?

  • Nokia 5310 connected in a non compatible USB mode

Hi , I have tried to connect my nokia 5310 to my computer in printing & media apps mode for use with Nokia music site , but each time I keep getting "connected in a non compatible USB mode   " .
When I connect to Nokia PC suite there is no problem.
I have the latest PC suite installed .
Can someone help , please !

did you try the pc suite mode in order to use the nokia music? that might actually work for you or mass media either one of those might work better than 'print' mode

  • Connected in a non compatible USB mode! Nokia 5310...

Aghhhhhhhhhhh.................. please can someone help me. I have been able to transfer music to my phone with no problems until yesterday. When I plugged in the USB cable to put a new album on my phone, I chose the usual printing and media option, and a sign comes up on my PC saying that my phone is connected in a non compatible USB mode and I cant transfer any music over. Thats not all, I spoke to one of the "TECH" guys at nokia and he told me to format my memory card on the phone, so i did this. Now I have NO music on my phone and it still says the same damn thing!!!!! When I plug my phone to the PC it opens it like a normal memory card! Has anyone any idea what the hells goin on? Do I need a new memory card, is my phone stuffed or has my PC just decided not to work with Nokia phones anymore?
Any help would be much apreciated.

The message about the incompatible mode is from PC Suite, and you should see it when you connect in mas storage or media transfer modes. As long as you are using Nokia Music Store application and it recognises the phone (ie: the phone name is shown next to the phone icon on the left of the screen) then you shoul be able to use the Nokia Music to transfer music in media transfer mode.
If you are not using Nokia Musioc, connect in Mass Storage mode and you can copy music between the PC and phone just as you copy between different folders in the PC. However, if your music is DRM-copyright protected you can't use this method and will need to use either Nokia Music or Windows Media Player in media transfer mode.
Because you've reformatted the card, it is completely blank, so when you start up various apps in the phone they will re-establish their correct file structures so after usage the behaviour of the phone will become more 'normal' as you know it.

  • N85 connected in a non-compatible USB mode FRUSTRA...

I just bought a N85 and am trying to use Nokia PC Suite and Software Updater however it tells me my phone is on file transfer mode and to switch it to PC Suite mode, which I assure every time it is on. I've tried just in case all the other modes but I always get the same error.
    Can anyone help?

    Solved it.
Thank you for your advice, it unfortunately didn't work however it's good to know that for the future.
I ended up manually downloading the driver software for the cable from the nokia website http://europe.nokia.com/get-support-and-software/download-software/cable-drivers , started the instalation and removed (option to repair or remove) the previously installed driver. I disconnected the cable from the computer and reinstalled it. I think it may have corrupted because the first time I had the cable connected to the computer when I installed the driver.
Hope this solves some other peoples frustrations!

  • N71 only connects to PC in 'non-compatible USB mod...

I want to backup the contents of my N71 but cannot connect properly. I did a backup a few months ago with Nokia PC Suite so it has worked.

Connect to a hardwired  USB port  . That is one direct off the motherboard  . Usually the rear connectors .
     try reinstall PC Suite .
Soft reset may help if above dont work .

I alss have exactly the same problem. The error message says - "Nokia XpressMusic 5800 connected in a non compatible USB mode". So it does not connect with the computer. Yet its fine on my laptop and I'm able to connect succesfully. So why is it OK on the laptop but not on the Desktop? Both O/S are Win Vista Home Premium and are up to date with service packs etc/.

I'm new to this but i think the dll file is not working try downloading the BBA dll. file from dll.com or try searching in google for dll files when you find the website that gives you free dll file download that file to desktop and then add that to the folder in which all files are kept associated to connectivity.

  • Incompatible USB mode for PC-suite

    Hi all,
    I have a N76:
    V31.0.014
    I'm running PC suit 7.0.8.2, windows-XP Home
Whatever I'm trying, PC-suite keeps telling me "connected in a non-compatible USB mode".
Don't start suggesting to switch my mode on the phone, please.
When I connect the phone it tells me "Select mode: PC Suite, Data transfer, Image print and Media player", and I'm selecting "PC Suite".
I've tried this 100+ times, but it will still tell me I'm in file transfer mode.
I've also tried to find solutions from other users, but "switch your phone to PC suite mode" does not help. It's in PC suite, and I can give you screenshots if needed. It just doesn't work....
I'm getting a bit frustrated and started using profanities in my google searches to solve this...
Anyone here who can help me?
    Cheers,
    Jos

That's exactly the problem. The phone is in fact set to PC Suite mode. But the PC suite program still says "connected in incompatible mode".  None of the tricks I found in the forum helped so far.
OVI suite says "phone is in file transfer mode". I have the German version. So in English it might say something else.
Nothing works. It  seems the problem is with the phone?
It is really difficult not to use four letter words in describing this problem!
    Vista home premium
    Nokia N79, software version 30.019
    PC suite version is 7.1.26.0

  • E61i- USB connected in non compatible mode.

My E61i is not getting recognised by the PC. I get the error "USB connected in non compatible mode."

Check under the connectivity menu then USB, that the mode is set to ask which connection you want when connected to a PC. If it is set to mass storage mode it will continue to connect in that mode until you either change it to PC Suite mode or if you set it to ask you always.
Best to set it to always ask then you can select the mode you need at different times.
When connecting o the PC select PC Suite mode

Go to Menu > Tools > USB > USB mode
Has your phone got "white dot" against "Data transfer" if so select "PC Suite" instead and try again.
In "Ask on connection" have you got "No" otherwise you would be prompted.Message Edited by scoobyman on 13-Oct-200702:41 PM
According to the screenshot the user wants to use Windows Media Player for the transfers. I am not sure PC Suit mode is going to help with that.

  • E71x Connected in non-compatible mode

    Brand new E71x
    Vista - 4GB RAM, 250GB HDD, 512MB Video
    Nokia PC Suite  7.1.26.0
Connected cable to PC USB 2.0 port
    and other end to E71x
In PC Suite main window see "Connected in non-compatible mode".   What now?

OK I found the solution on the Asia forums.  It's a setting within the phone that dictates what the phone does on a USB cable connection.
    Menu>Settings>Config>Data Cable.
Change from Media Transfer to PC Suite and all is well.

  • Nokia 6500 Slide Connected In Non-Compatible Mode

Hi,I've cracked my screen and unable to access anything! I transferred my SIM (3 network) to another phone. Although the phone works all my contacts and messages have disappeared. I am quite positive they were saved to SIM. Anyway tried connecting using broken phone with SIM using USB and get message Connected in non-compatible mode and I still cannot access contacts or messages. I'm getting extremely frustrated can anyone help?
    Many thanks
    Solved!

You have a S40 phone, Another thing you can try is, when you are sure the keypad is unlocked, connect the phone and after a few second press the right selection key(the one you usually use to step back or disagree or cancel) which should be cancel. If your phone is anything like my 5200 that will send it straight to connect via PC suite. I think even pressing the red button will do this(Not sure about the red button though but the right selection I'm certain about)

  • Nokia N70 connected in non compatible mode

First here are some facts: Im Using Pc Suite v6.83 on Windows XPsp2. Im using USB cable to connect to my N70.
Now here's the problem: The first time I used PC Suite after Installation, it worked fine. When I used it again the second time, it acted strangely. It didn't detect my phone correctly. It detected the N70 alright, but a baloon popped up from the PC suite Icon on the system tray saying "nokia n70 connected in non compatible mode". Then when I went to the Get Connected wizard, a warning popped up which says "Your phone is in file transfer mode and connot be used with PC suite. quit file transfer mode from the phone if you want to use PC suite". I wonder how could this be since I know that the N70 has no file transfer mode.
Then after finally having my phone detected correctly after diconnecting then connecting the USb cable, my system detected the phone as a digital camera imaging device and as a mass storage device, showing up in windows explorer aside from showing up in the Nokia Phone browser. I Don't think this is a normal bahaviour.
Then the third time I tried to use PC suite, it detected the phone as bing in in non compatible mode again. Yhis time disconnecting and reconnecting the USb cable didn't help.
I found some strange things in the windows device manager too. I found out that under portable device, the N70 was there but disabled and labled as not properly working.
Have you guys encounterd this prblem before? If you did maybe you can help me resolve it. Thanks in advance!

  • 6110navigator PCSuite "non-compatible mode"

    Nokia 6110 Navigator
    Microsoft Windows XP
    Build 2600
    Service Pack 2
    Nokia PC Suite 6.84.10.3
    Connectivity Cable Drivers 6.84.4.0
    PC Connectivity Solution 7.22.7.1
    Microsoft Bluetooth-stack 5.1.2600 Build 2180
Trying to update Route 66 with the DVD that came in the package; didn't work.
I got this far with this problem:
When i connect the phone to the PC (USB DKE2) after setting the USB-mode to datatransfer (menu / settings / connectivity / usb) the PS Suite icon in the systemtray reports "non-compatible mode" or something like that. Leaving the phone physically connected and switching USBmode to PCSuite, then PCSuite works OK. But I can't get connected in data transfer mode.
    Anyone?

check the pc suite version you have. The latest is 7.1 and new phones wouldnt be supported by older versions of pc suite like 6.84.If you're using older version it will give such message.
