N79 power saver, can't animate

I just bought my N79 ..... quite cool ..... The problem is with the power saver. I like my phone to animate the clock after power svaer, It just go to black screen without the animation of the clock. Anyone know how? The other thing is in other model of nokia when you press the red cancel button in lock mode, the clock will also come out. In N79 can't do that... Ant tips on how?

I just want to comment on my view. How I see it, N79 is more interest in saving power and ready to jump online (internet). But there are so many problems like small graphic, slow connection and so on. For the same amount people could just get a notebook and internet is so much faster.... My suggestion is Nokia should concentrate more on handphone as a handphone. Camera is good. Animation should also be available, more priority comre to internet. A survey can tell how many people surf internet with handphone, very few. I hope future realease have the option of offline ( no internet) but with the option of a handphone of can call and receive call. After all is still a hanphone not a notebook. It would be nice to have a notebook with a camera and handphone features.
Thanks, I hope Nokia can do more survey on what customers want as they are the one buying.

  • N79 Power Saver Theme Problem

I bought an N79 just last mounth.
    it's a sweet phone but i have an small problem.;
when i choose a theme for power saver (Date, text, slide show , ....) it have been shown for only 2 seconds and disappear and screen goes to BLACK.
even i choose longest time for power Saver but it did not work.
anyone has problem like this? any idea?
Does NOKIA fix this problem in new firmware?
how can i report this BUG to NOKIA?
    thanks
    Nokia N79 4GB
    SW Version: 32.001 RM-348 MEA

I really doubt this is a deliberate design. Most other Nokia phones have the same "power saver" which pops up when the phone is idle, and all of them - even current ones - are set up so that:
    1) The power saver appears after its timeout
    2) The backlight switches off after its own, independent timeout
    3) The power saver remains shown regardless of the phone's current state
Why would the Power Saver have its own timeout and selection of Power Saver screens designed to show you the date and time, if it can only be shown for 2 seconds? I'm disappointed that Nokia support is disregarding this issue, but I assume it's more out of ignorance and a stock response than any insight into their plans for future firmware updates. Is there a "bug report" page or something we can use to ensure it's properly logged and not just dismissed?
Help I'm trapped in a sig factory.

  • N79 Power saver

Had this phone for a couple of days now and very impressed with it. But does anyone know how to make the powersave display stay on?
I set it to just display the date and time bar but after the light goes off the date and time bar only stays on for a few seconds then all i have is a blank screen.
I could get it to stay on with my N95 and quite a few nokia phones iv had before it.
thanks in advance for any help as i like to have this on so i can just have a quick look at the screen to see the time or any missed calls or texts without having to press buttons first.

I think this is only true on OLED screens. LCD screens have the same power consumption regardless of what they're displaying since the brightness of a pixel is defined by the amplitude of an AC voltage across a cell with quasi-infinite resistance (i.e. which doesn't actually drain any current).

  • HomeHub 5A - Power Save - Disabling

    Hi
I have a Home Hub 5 (Type A) | Software version 4.7.5.1.83.8.204 | Last updated 14/01/15. Connected to the Wi-Fi is a room thermostat I can access from my smartphone. Last week I went on holiday and before returning home I attempted to login to the thermostat and switch the heating on. To my disappointment I could not access the thermostat. On arrival back home to a cold house, the thermostat had no Wi-Fi indicator on. Eventually the thermostat connected to the HH I’m assuming because I arrived home and my phone woke the HH up from powersave. I know the HH has “intelligent” power saving features that cannot be amended but in my case this caused real difficulties in accessing devices back at home. Is there any way this power save can be disabled or do I need to buy a router that isn’t a HH? Or any thoughts on how to keep the Wi-Fi active, obviously the thermostat doesn’t seem to do that.

It may be easier to plug in an additional wireless access point into an Ethernet port of the home hub, and use that wireless connection instead. Thats assuming that the Ethernet does not go to sleep with no actividy.
Something like the TP-Link TL-WA701ND would do the job just fine.
    See http://forumhelp.dyndns.info/hardware/TP_link/wa701nd/wa701nd_v2/wa701nd_v2_wiz.html
    Use access point mode.

In an iPhone 3GS (or 4G when I upgrade), can a user configure the WiFi power-save operation to extend the battery life?  For example:  Can a user turn on/off WiFi power-save operation?  Can a user specify WiFi sleep duration?  Thanks in advance for any helpful advice.

Yikes!   Thanks, Templeton.  Do WiFi app programmers have control over power-save settings?  For example, can a first VoIP app be more energy-efficient than a second VoIP app?

  • Tecra M10 - Can't uninstall or install Power Saver code 0x0

    Hi folks,
on my new Tecra M10, after logging in I get a Fatal Error message "Toshiba Power Saver. Fatal error has ocured. This program will terminate. code 0x0.
I cannot install a new download of power saver until I UN-install the existing.
When I try to UN-install via Control panel, I get the same fatal error.

    Hi
Friend of me had the same problem and he told me that it was possible to remove Toshiba Power Saver in safe mode. Therefore go in advanced boot menu and select safe mode. After this try removing Power Saver as normal.
    Check this!
Furthermore you could try removing Power Saver using an additional tool like CCleaner. This is a very nice tool where you can remove programs and optimize the registry. I like this freeware program.

When I trying to start Power Saver from the control panel, it writes something like:
"Power Saver is nor running. Please first set Power Saver as a default power control scheme in power management".

I tryed to reinstall Power Saver (downloaded from Toshiba site), but it writes "fatal error while uninstalling previous version".
The manual start of the uninstallation give me the same error.
I found that I can delete deinstallation protocol of Power Saver.

I need to make spdif-audio out always ON, that's needed for my external DAC which is synced on the signal correctly. However, the system mute audio out in about one minute of silence. Hi, I can't install toshiba power saver driver on my laptop because instalation crashes with error 1610: The configuration data for this product is corrupt. Contact your support personnel. My second problem is with battery, my laptop running on battery for max 10 minutes (i got my laptop 2 years) and i dint using battery supply often. Can battery loose so much capacity in 2 years even if i used to my battery once a week?
Sorry for english and thx for reply

I believe you must not install this driver, only Power saver utility only.
What to say about battery? In my opinion it is possible. In my opinion the battery life time cannot be defined so easy.
Some batteries run well after 3 years of usage and some of them are death after one year only.

  • Can I read Windows OS properties in LabVIEW (ex: Is monitor in power save mode?)

Is it possible to read any properties from windows OS.  I would like my code to know if the monitor is in power save mode or not.
I am using a touch panel and after the screen goes blank (power save mode), I don't want the user to accidentally push the wrong button (since he cannot see them).  The user has to touch the screen once to waken it up.  As far as I know there is no way for me to disable the touch screen while in power save mode so I wanted to try and disable the buttons when the screen is in power save mode.
    Thanks,

Look here.  At a bare minimum, it loks like you need DevicePowerEnumDevices and GetDevicePowerState.

  • N95 8GB power saver lightning problem !?

    Hi There ,,
    I just got my new N95 8GB
everything works fine , until i saw this problem
i have this strange screen(power) saver lightning
like if it was flashing or some like that
so if anyone had this problem please help
    Model: N79

    Go to Solution.

if you are talking about that flashing light at the top of the phone near the front camera, then there's nothing to worry. its normal. its just to indicate that your phone is 'swithced on'. if you observe, when your phone goes into power saving mode, the screen is absolutely blank. its almost impossible to tell if the phone is on or not from a distance.
This is the prupose of that light.
Well....the good news is that you can turn it off if you don't like it.
I dont recollect how but it can be done via settings somewhere i guess.
    List of Nokia phones I've used: 3310, 3315, 3200, 6600,3250, N73 ME, N95 8GB, 5800 XpressMusic and Nokia X6 16 GB (currently using this).

  • Toshiba Power saver may be the problem

    My Satellite A665-S6050 has had all of the symptoms you read about in these forums;
crash, freeze, hung, locked, BSOD, Windows crash errors, etc.
I bought the laptop new a couple years ago and both love it and hate it when it exhibits
its freezing behavior. This is the intel I-3, 4 GB ram, Windows 7(64 bit) version. Really nice
    when it's running normally.
I have watched and read through hundreds of posts throughout these forums since my purchase.
I have never sent the laptop back to Toshiba. Primarily because I've been able to force power off
then on, go to safe mode, schedule a disk scan on the next power up, reboots normally and I'm good
    for who knows how long.
Following suggestions you can read in these forums, I have upgraded the Intel HD graphics display driver.
I install Windows updates every time they come available(auto update is enabled). I've updated the
Toshiba bios. I've updated Firefox every time it is available(my favorite browser). Updated java and
flash(again automatic updates). Some user settings that I've changed; I've disabled sleep mode(set it
to 'never' under 'advanced power settings) in every power scheme I have. I only use 'High Performance'
power scheme(plan). I have the setting for turning off the hard drive set to 'never'. My rational for doing
this is there is just too much going on under Windows 7, all the time. You never know what's running in the
background. Many times as the laptop freezes and or Windows tries it's best to recover, I get a strong feeling
that the hard drive has shut off! Especially, when Windows is trying to save a dump but can't because it can't
access hd0(hard drive)(I have to force power cycle off/on to recover).
This brings me to my current state of this troubleshooting saga. The last time the laptop froze, I was watching
streaming video in one Firefox window and had a slide show playing in another Firefox window(2 windows, not
2 tabs). Then in the lower right corner I get the Toshiba power saver notification that it is shutting down the
optical drive. It goes away on it's own in about 10 seconds. But immediately everything gets real slow until every
freezes. Windows tries to save a dump but can't. Windows tries to reboot itself but can't. Shows me a screen to
modify the boot list because the hd0 is not available. So, as so many times before I have to hold the power
button down for force power off. Wait a few, then power on, do my thing with safe mode, check disk, etc.
Power up and boots normally. Runs great for who knows how long. Right now as I type this, I have a audio CD
in my optical drive with Windows Media player set to 'replay' continuously. This I hope will prevent the 'Toshiba
power saver' from getting triggered because the optical drive is not idle and therefore won't shut off the hard
drive too! I have no idea how I can prove that 'Toshiba Power saver' is causing these freezes, crashes, lock ups,
etc. But at least if I can keep the optical drive in use and therefore prevent the 'power saver' from kicking in
maybe I can eliminate that as a possible cause of the freezes.
I am really disappointed to read so many Toshiba owners sending their computers to Toshiba service
hoping and praying for resolution but getting no satisfaction in the end. I love my Toshiba and I'll keep it.
I am a recreational user. Don't need to save power. When I use my computer, I want it to function as
powerful as possible until I intentionally perform a normal Windows shutdown.
My employer supplies me with a laptop (different brand). It has Intel I-5 chip, 3 GB ram Win XP Pro..
I run that computer full speed 9 -10 hours a day and I may have to reboot maybe once every other week.
Not bad considering the abuse I put it through. I would hate to have to rely on this Toshiba for work. I
don't think it could stay fully operational for that period of time.
Please Toshiba, tell me how I can help with the troubleshooting of this seriously pervasive problem on
so many of your computers. Is there an event log I can provide? Windows dump files(when they do get
saved)?  Help me help you resolve this problem and satisfy hundreds of your customers.
Thank you in advance for your time.
    Doug

    Jerry,
It happened again this afternoon. This is the first time my system froze since the last time
I reported here in the forum. And just like I reported earlier, Toshiba Power Saver turned off
the optical drive power, I saw the pop-up in the lower right corner to notify me of the event.
I had Toshiba 'PC Health Monitor' running and minimized. I clicked on the icon to restore it
to the desktop. It displayed as expected. The hard drive graphic looked normal and spinning
as usual. I clicked on the graphic of the spinning hard drive and expected 'Power Options' to
display. Instead my desktop went away(all icons, system tray, system notification area, launch
pad, etc), everything gone. The graphic of the spinning hard drive stopped spinning. I tried a
    CTL+ALT+DEL and got a new pop-up from Windows that it couldn't respond and I had 2 options;
press ESC or hold the power button down to force power and a shutdown. Which is what I eventually
    did.
Powered up, went to safe mode, scheduled disk check on the next restart. Disk check runs and
finds no problem. System runs normally again.
As far as finding these events in the Windows logs using 'Event viewer', is not going to help.
I know exactly what time this all took place. I just can't find any event log showing that it took
place. There's a small gap in the time stamps just before the event until a few minutes after the
event. Then I see a mixture of 'errors' and 'information' events after the power on and restart
but nothing specifically addressing the hard drive before the restart.
I see an event log; "Previous shutdown was not expected". I'm sure that's not what your asking
to see.  I don't know if it would be possible to trace the 'Toshiba Power Saver' but that may be
the only way I could prove my point that it is shutting off power to both the optical drive and
the hard drive at the same time.
Is there a way to disable or remove Toshiba Power Saver without causing a more serious problem?
Thank you in advance for your time and expertise.
    Doug.

  • My Andoid Devices wil not wake up my printer from Power Save Mode

I have an HP LaserJet Pro 200 color MFP M276nw istalled as a wireless network printer. I have various computers with XP and Windows 8 operating systems that wake up  the printer from Power Save mode without problems. I also can print wirelessly from my Windows 8 phone. The problem arises when I try to print from my Android devices. I have installed the HP All-In-One Remote App from the Android Store and they seem to have installed correctly. They recognise the network printer, tell me that it is Power Save mode but are unable to wake it up. Can anyone help with this one please?

Hello Jerends and thank you for your attention to my printer problem. My printer already has a fixed IP address so no need to go down that road. I managed to get around the problem by deleting the HP All in One App from my Android devices and replacing it with the HPePrint App. It's not perfect but does the job.
    Thanks again.
