N7K module replacement

Hello all, we had a module go bad in the N7K, I have a new RMA part here and will replace it tonite. I am wondering how to down this device? I havent seen it yet  :)   only remotly from ssh sessions. Does it have power switches? Is there any command I need to do before shutting it down? Thanks for any help on this subject.

Maybe they meant to power-off the module for some reason?
The data sheet confirms that OIR is supported for that module. I've replaced several modules and never had issues.

    Hi SDN,
Pls let me know the replacement for FM GRAPH_SET_CUA_STATUS. in ECC 6.0.
    Regards,

    Hi Rahul,
in [this blog |/people/andrea.olivieri/blog/2010/04/30/community-call-obsolete-function-modules-replacement-matrix-for-ecc-60]published several months ago, I collected my thoughts on this persistent issue.
In my opinion you can continue to use the FM GRAPH_SET_CUA_STATUS without any problems, confirming that the presence of numerous standard programs that use this method.

  • Module replace crash OSPF processes

    Hi All,
    On a 6509-NEB-A i've replaced on module 1 the WS-X6748-GE-TX module installed.
The module was working properly and replaced due to a bug in a stock of cards about a component that could burn out.
The system detected the new inserted card but on configuration all the GigabitEthernet 1/1-48 reported:
" Hardware has been removed, interface disabled".
At the same time all the OSPF process on the system established by interfaces on other modules began to flap.
The diagnostic of the module 1 said:
    " %DIAG-SP-3-MAJOR: Module 1: Online Diagnostics detect
    ed a Major Error. "
The same card inserted in another 6509-NEB-A worked perfectly. Only, i powered off the module before replace.
    Now my questions are:
    a) Do i always need to power off the module before the replace? What is the best practice in module replacement?
    b) What can be the creason of the OSPF flapping on other modules?

    Now my questions are:
    a) Do i always need to power off the module before the replace? What is the best practice in module replacement?
No, switching modules are hot-swappable. See below.
    Hot Swapping Switching Modules
You can remove and replace switching modules without powering down the switch. This feature is known as hot swapping.
When you remove or insert a switching module while the switch is powered on and operating, the switch does the following:
    1. Determines if there is sufficient power for the module.
    2. Scans the backplane for configuration changes.
    3. Initializes all newly inserted switching modules, notes any removed modules, and places them in the administratively shutdown state.
    4. Places any previously configured interfaces on the switching module back to the state they were in when they were removed. Any newly inserted interfaces are put in the administratively shutdown state, as if they were present (but unconfigured) at boot time. If you insert a similar switching-module type into a slot, its ports are configured and brought online up to the port count of the original switching module.
The switch runs diagnostic tests on any new interfaces. If the test passes, the switch is operating normally. If the new switching module is faulty, the switch resumes normal operation but leaves the new interface disabled.
If the diagnostic test fails, the switch crashes, which usually indicates that the new switching module has a problem in the bus and should be removed.
    b) What can be the creason of the OSPF flapping on other modules?
I thought you saw the following error on that module:
    " %DIAG-SP-3-MAJOR: Module 1: Online Diagnostics detected a Major Error. "
The above could also mean the line card is not properly seated. Re-seat that line card and see if it fails the diagnostic again.

  • The configuration of the replaced N7K module

Hi, we had a module failed in the N7K, the failed slot is "slot-1" and the configuration about it was invisible because of the failure.
So we migrated the configuration to another slot to maintain the business.
And now we have just got the RMA module and are ready to install it.
What I am worried about is after I replace the failed module, will the old configuration that was on the failed module appear on the new one?
If so, since I have migrated the configuration, there could be conflicts that would affect the network.
    Hope for reply, thanks!

Thanks for your reply, I still have a question:
If, for example, my E1/1 port belongs to the failed I/O module in "slot-1", and had an ip address 1.1.1.1.When the module failed, the configuration about E1/1 became invisible because of the failure.
Then I configured the port E2/1 on "slot-2" with the same ip address 1.1.1.1.
When I replace a new and the same type of module in slot-1, the configuration about E1/1 with the ip address 1.1.1.1 would become visible again.(Here I am not really sure)
Then my question is: will there be such a situation that within a device, E2/1 has an ip address 1.1.1.1 in "up" state and E1/1 has the same ip address 1.1.1.1 in "down" state?
If so, what would happen if I active E1/1?

  • Airport / Bluetooth module replacement - MacBook Pro

I upgraded Bluetooth module in a 2010 MacBook Pro, after doing so, I get a no Bluetooth device available message. My wifi, which I believe is part of the upgraded module, works perfectly. With that new module not working, I then reinstalled the old Bluetooth card and the message still appeared and Bluetooth was unavailable.  I tried the resets outlined in many posts including SMC and PRAM. I am using yosemite. To help clarify, both cards are showing in system profile when they are installed in the network section. Bluetooth is where it says is missing. Any ideas?

Well ... the first question is are you sure that upgraded Bluetooth module you installed is supported by your 2010 MacBook Pro? I believe after a certain year, these modules are combination Bluetooth/Wi-Fi cards. Prior to that, they were separate. I don't believe the combo card can be used in this case.

  • Adding memory modules...

I am currently running leopard on a 1st generation Mac pro with 4GB of ram from ramjet.com. I would like to add more ram to to it and am a little confused. To get maximum performace, I unerstand I fill all the memory slots. I am thinking about adding 2x2GB modules (replacing 2x512MB). Will this be ok? to have 7GB of RAM? will this still take advantage of the 256 bit addressing? Thanks.
    John

In order to take advantage of quad-channel interleaving you must install RAM in equal-sized quads, e.g., four 1 GB DIMMs, four 512 MB DIMMS, four 2 GB DIMMs. Having four modules of differing sizes does not do the trick, although you must install RAM at least in equal-sized pairs.
I assume you currently have two 512 GB DIMMs and two 1 GB DIMMs giving a total of 3 GBs. You could replace the 512 MB DIMMs with two additional 1 GB DIMMs giving you a total of 4 GBs as an installed quad of equal-sized DIMMs. You can then populate that other riser with four more DIMMs of equal size. You could install four 512 MB DIMMs (thus using the two you already have) giving you another 2 GBs for a total of 6 GBs.
    Get the picture?

  • How to Replace ',' with '.' in workarea

    Hi ,
I am getting amount field from workarea wa_amount
    wa_amount  = 27.777,00
    But I want  to display output like 27,777.00 ( replace , with . & . with ,)
Please let me know the best possible way to do this
    Regards
    rahul

    Hello Rahul,
The best & easiest way is to use REPLACE ALL OCCURENCES OF .
This is rather more flexible ,
For Egu2026.When you have a requiremnet to replace all the commas with spaces you can use the following syntaxu2026u2026.
    REPLACE ALL OCCURRENCES OF ',' IN wa_final-last_name WITH ' .' .
Or u can go using one FM
    Replace the special Characters.
Try using this function - it replaces special characters:
    SCP_REPLACE_STRANGE_CHARS
This function module replaces special characters like ñ,Í,ü,ú,á,é,ó etc with n,I,u,a,e,ou2026
    Try it, It works

  • ACE Module vs ACE Appliance

    Hello,
What is the difference between ACE Module and ACE Appliance? why the ACE Module is better? or ACE Appliance, what is the advantage between Module and Appliance.
    anyone can explain me?
    Best Regards

In the past Cisco has been shipping two line of Loadbalancing products
First line ( modules dedicated for 6500/7600 chassis ) includes CSM & CSM-S & SSLSM (for ssl offloading)
The other line comprises of appliance based CSS series products.
ACE module is a next generation module replacing CSM modules that fits into 6500/7600 chassis.
It gives you upto 16Gbps throughput (versus CSM's 4Gbps throughput).
ACE appliance is a next gen replacement of CSS line of appliance based products.
CSS appliances were used to come in different Hardware models with varied
performance capacities. ACE appliance is a single hardware with various licenses
used to scale the performance/features.Ace appliance supports upto 4Gbps of throughput.
Previously CSS & CSM code terminologies & command set was different. For example a real server
was termed as "service" in CSS & was called "real" in CSM . Similarly "probe" in CSM was "keepalive"
    in CSS.
With ACE line of products you get the same terminologies & command sets for both
    modules & Appliances.
ACE Appliance & ACE modules are functionality vise coming closer with every new release but
    still there are some differences.
For example following ACE appliance features are not available in ACE module:
Appl optimization (flash forward, Delta Encoding)
    Embedded Device manager
    Http compression
Which one is better than the other really depends on your requirement
From Performance perspective Module give you much higher performance then Appliance.
SO if performance is your criteria the ACE module is better than ACE appliance.(Some performance metrics at the end of the post).
If you are looking for Application optimization & HTTP compression along with Loadbalancing
then it can only be achieved with ACE appliance.
If you are not using 6500/7600 series chassis in your environment then you can only use ACE appliance
(unless you are open to buy module+chassis due to performance requirement).
    Some performance metrics
Ace Appliance supports 1 Million concurrent connections where as Ace Module supports 4 Million.
    Ace Appliance supports 120K L4 conn/sec where as Ace Module supports 380K L4 conn/sec.
    Ace Appliance supports 40K L7 conn/sec where as Ace Module supports 133K L7 conn/sec.
Ace Appliance supports upto 4Gbps throughput where as Ace Module supports 16Gbps throughput .

  • About n7k naming

hello , i got some questions on cisco n7k modules about naming
is there any documents about the naming method ?
    for example,N7K-F248XT-25E= , what's the meaning of 25 and = ?
    thank you

    Hi,
The = (equals) at the end of any Cisco part number indicates that the part can be ordered as a spare part i.e., it doesn't have to be part of a factory built system. From a technical perspective, the N7K-F248XT-25 and N7K-F248XT-25= are exactly the same.
The 25 at the end of the ID for this particular module indicates that it is a Fabric 2 based module, and that five Fabric Modules are required for the device to operate at full line rate. I mentioned how the I/O module names can be interpreted in the forum post Bandwidth distribution in Nexus 7009 Fabric-2 module, but included here also:
The I/O module name is essentially comprised of a number of fields in the format N7K-ABCCDE-FG, where:
    A = I/O module family e.g., M or F
    B = generation of the module e.g., either 1, 2 or 3
    CC = number of ports on the module e.g., 2, 6, 8, 24, 32 or 48
    D = port speed e.g., G=10/100/1000, X=10G, F=40G or C=100G
    E = connector type e.g., T=RJ45, S=SFP, 2=X2, P=SFP+, Q=QSFP or F=CFP
F = the Fabric ASIC version of the I/O module e.g., either 1 or 2
G = the number of Fabric modules required for full line rate I/O

  • Satellite U400-10N fails to start while showing black screen!

So i press the power button, The 3 Leds are appearing fuctional but the CPU-GPU fan fails to start!
After a while it shuts off it self and then it tries to start again but the fan fails again while only the power led is on and not the others (Led 1 and 2 on the bottom).
Must say again that the screen appear always black (might be dead also)
I thought it was an overheating problem so i cleaned up the fan but with not many signs of dust!
But that was crearly not the problem because i tested it!
Now i think it might be a GPU problem but i dunno for sure!
Any suggestions what it might be and how o fix this? Thank you!

    Hi
It can be RAM problem, it can be an motherboard problem, it can be also an CPU or GPU problem.
    Any part can be affected.
    So what to do?
You could check part like RAM. You could purchase new, good tested RAMs and could replace it but what happens if you purchase new RAM modules, replace it and notebook would NOT power up?
You would spend some money for new RAM but finally other part could be faulty
Therefore I think an professional service technician should check the unit firstly.
The guys could give you a proper answer about the faulty part and then you could decide what to do

    Hi
I have Satellite Pro L40-15d with 512 memory (Samsung) but I wont upgrade to 1GB. I have Kingston ktt667d2/1g I have tray to put in to both slots but nothing work I cant switch on computer.
But when I change for old one laptop is ok. What can I do? Install special program or update BIOS or maybe the memory stick is broken.
    Regards

    Hi
    The notebook doesnt boot after the memory upgrade due to these different issues;
    - memory modules are not compatible together
    - memory modules are not compatible with the notebook
    - memory modules are faulty
    - one of memory slots is faulty
In most case the memory module replacement helps.
One hint; did you try to switch the memory modules in the slots? Sometimes this helps.
Several weeks ago I have updated my memory and the notebook didnt boot.
I thought its a memory malfunction but after module switching the notebook booted correctly.
    Good luck

  • Any help, text flickers in apps but not icons or pictures...

I have a Ti 1 Ghz and I am starting to have problems with my display. I am not sure what the problem is as it is very strange. When I am viewing text in apps like Word, Safari, Firefox, Textedit, (basically any app), some of the text (sometimes a letter sometimes a word or sentence) gets little black dots flickering/blinking. What's weird is they move with the word instead of staying in one spot (like a dead pixel). So when I scroll the text up or down, left or right the little blinking black dot moves with the text. It also happens when I open certain pictures (moves around with the picture) but not other pictures and so far the text under icons haven't been affected.
At first I thought maybe it is because of Tiger (I just did an upgrade - fresh install about a month ago) so I booted into OS 9 (which is on a second partition) and the same problem occurred.
So I thought dead pixels and I ran the hardware test cd. No little dead pixels showed while testing the video.
So I tried calibrating the display, that had no effect and it is now back at default.
Then I tried all the different settings for smoothing/anti alaising the fonts I could. I regularly boot up in both Japanese and English (main) settings.
So maybe drivers, so I went to the ATI website and downloaded and installed the most recent updates available.
I even thought, hey, maybe my eyes are bad. So I asked my wife whose vision is 20/20 and she agreed it wasn't just my eys.
    Nothing has helped.
Has anyone had a problem like this? Does any one know what is wrong? Is it my display itself or maybe the video card?
Just a little info, I bought this PB brand new from the store and within a month the screen went pink when ever the PB was moved. So I had the displayed replaced and it hasn't had any problems since then (September 2003) until now.
    Any advice would be great.
    Thanks,

Hi, elfbp. There is no economical way to replace the screen — and no easy way, either. It's the Powerbook's most expensive part to buy, new or used, and the hardest one to remove and install successfully. Besides, you haven't determined yet that the display is what needs to be replaced, or even that anything needs to be replaced. And the symptom you report is so very odd — anomalous pixels that follow a word or words in your text, indicating that they aren't related to particular pixels or regions in the display — that I have no idea how to go about trying to isolate the cause.
For what it's worth, the service manual for your Tibook model contains the following video troubleshooting section. It's not directed at your particular problem, but your particular problem isn't mentioned at all, and this may suggest some useful procedures or clues:
"No display, or dim display, but computer appears to operate correctly:
    1. Remove any connected peripherals.
    2. Make sure F1 key is not stuck down.
    3. Press the F2 key (with the fn key pressed and not pressed) to increase the screen brightness settings.
    4. Reboot the computer—hold down the Control and Command keys and press the Power button to restart the computer. Or, press and hold the Power button for 5 to 10 seconds to shut down the computer, then press the Power button to restart.
    5. Make sure using the PowerBook (1GHz/867MHz) power adapter (66-1798)
    6. Verify inverter flex cable and LVDS cable connections are seated properly and that the cables are not damaged (refer to inverter board and display module replacement instructions).
    7. Replace inverter board.
    8. Replace display assembly.
    9. Replace logic board."
Note in particular that checking the display cable connections and replacing the inverter board are both suggested before replacing the display itself. And I would be inclined also to replace the logic board before the display, since it's less expensive and much easier to install. By the time you've replaced an inverter and a logic board, you'll be well on your way to spending what the Powerbook is worth in good condition on the current market, and replacing the display may put you over that value. This is not to say you shouldn't do it, but if you could get a comparable used Powerbook in good working order for less than you might spend fixing yours, that's at least an option worth considering.
I have no idea what professional repair options are available to you in Japan, but if I were you, I'd look into them. Don't use any repair service that isn't Apple-authorized.
If you want to plunge inside the Tibook yourself, complete take-apart instructions are here.
