N7K - powered-dn module status
Hi guys,
Suddenly, one of the modules under 7K switch gave red alarm.
Following are the show module:
#show module
Mod Ports Module-Type Model Status
4 0 10 Gbps Ethernet Module powered-dn
Mod Power-Status Reason
4 powered-dn Unable to power up card (Power_OK not set)
Mod Sw Hw
1 6.2(6) 3.0
3 6.2(6) 1.0
Any common issue for that?
Regards.
Hi,
Please try this.
1. Set on config t the diagnostic bootup level complete
2. Reseat module 4
3. show diagnostic result module 4
4. show module
If you still face the same issue after reseating it then RMA the module. Also check the available power on the switch and the minimum version required for the module to run fine.

Nexus 7009 does not show the N7K-F248XP-25 modules ethernet ports n sh run
Hi everyone,
I have a question...
I going to install two Nexus 7009 with three N7K-F248XP-25 modules on each one, I am planning to create 3 VDC, but at the initial configuration the system does not show the Ethernet ports of these modules, even with the show inventory and show module I can see that the modules are recognized and its status is OK. There is something that I have to do before start to configure these modules...? enable some feature or license in order to see the ports with show running CLI...?You can enable F1, F2, M1, M1XL and M2XL Series modules. There are no restrictions on the type of mix allowed for the system module-type command. The system module-type command allows a mix of F1, F2, M1, M1XL, and M2XL Series modules in the VDC.
Note The limit-resource module-type command controls the restrictions on the module-types that can be mixed in the VDC.
Note Use the system module-type f2 command to allow F2E Series modules into a VDC. The ports from F2 and F2E Series modules can be allocated like any other ports.
Note The modules that you do not enable must not be powered on after you configure this feature and enter yes. An error message will force you to manually disable these modules before proceeding. This prevents major disruption and service issues within a VDC.
The no form of this command resets the configuration mode to allow all modules.
hope this helps -
Module status on LMS is showing as incomplete - even after the user has completed the module.
Hi Folks,
Hope you are all keeping well! I have a bit of a problem here. On a number of modules that were developed using presenter - and custom animation (including click next to continue) etc etc, the LMS is not showing the module status as complete - even AFTER the user had comleted the module and closed. This problem has been noticed only when the user uses the CLICK NEXT or click this part of the screen to continue.
When the user navigates using the presenter control buttons - to navigate the training content that is, the LMS is correctly showing as the module has been completed.
The problem I am having is that - is there any way to make presenter detect a click within a slide (user click to navigate from within a slide) and thereby register it as a valid module completion?
Thanks in advance folks,
Kind Regards,
Alex.Hi Shubi,
Thanks for you quick reply.

Hi Alex,
Which LMS server you are using? Secondly what is the Setting in Quiz>Reporting tab is it SCORM 1.2,2004 or Aicc.
You want status on basis of user clicks then please make sure that Report data is set to "Slide view =100%" (or whatever precentage you want) and Report Pass/Fail set to "Complete/ Incomplete."
Thanks,
Shubhi
LMS = cornerstone on demand. It has been customised to suit the company requirements, Reporting tab is SCORM 1.2
To circumvent the issue I have changed the % view to 0% so in theory when the user launches even one slide / page - it will set it to report as status complete.
However this is not a viable solution on content critical modules....dont you think so?
Ideally I would like to get to the bottom of why a button within the module (which is able to navigate between pages) is not being able to report / set / increment the completion status counter.
Thanks and Kind Regards,

ACE module status is unknown "FSM_FT_STATE_STANDBY_COLD",
suddenly ACE module status is unknown “FSM_FT_STATE_STANDBY_COLD”, after reloading the FT worked fine , i need to know the root cause for this ?
do a 'shut' / 'no shut' of the ft vlan interface.
If that does not bring the interface up, check on the cat6k if FT vlan assigned to SVCLC group associated with ACE.
You should also plan an upgrade to A2(2.4) since a similar problem was fixed.

Is there any N7K-D132XP-15 module. I have seen this module reference in many other Cisco presentation. Is this a typo and correction would be N7K-F132XP-15 or a new module expected to be announce...
Hello,
So the fabric module that we have on the nexus 7000 will supply 46gbps per slot for each module you add:
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/switches/ps9441/ps9402/ps9512/Data_Sheet_C78-437760.html
Depending on the modules you are using will dictate how many fabrics you need. For example if you are using a N7K-M132XP-12L:
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/switches/ps9441/ps9402/data_sheet_c78-605622.html
It has 80gb backplane connection, so to get full capabilitys of the module, you need 2 fabric modules. You would likely want 3 for N+1 redundancy.
However if you are using N7K-F132XP-15, it can make use of 230gb on the fabric...so for full capacity you would want 5 fabric modules:
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/switches/ps9441/ps9402/data_sheet_c78-605622.html
Overall just check the datasheet for the modules you are using and by looking at switch fabric interface speed you should be able to plan out the number of fabrics you'll need for your cards.
Hope that helps

Itunes Install Crashes when it gets to Registering Modules status
Appreciate any help someone could offer me on this. I've had the same thing happen several times. Every time I try to install the new version it gets stuck at this status. I can't figure what the problem is.
I've gone to the Microsoft update page to make sure I had the most recent version of the service pack 4 and still it didn't finish the installation.
Thanks for the helpsome folks have been having some success with gailj's technique with that one:

CSCtq89240 - Packets destined to the VDC MAC may be dropped by F1 module on N7K
Even thougth If we configure the physical mac addresses for the SVI interfaces, the packets are not reaching the destination for some vlans
Symptom:
On the n7k packets destined to the VDC MAC may be dropped when received on a F1 module.
Condition:
N7k with F1 module. Packets destined to the VDC MAC will be dropped under the following conditions:
- no SVI present or admin down
- packets received on the F1 module
Likely scenarios to see this condition include:
- transparent firewall bridging
- hair pinning traffic
- L2 load balancers
Workaround:
Configure the SVI(s) with a user-configured mac address rather than using the default VDC MAC.
This problem is isolated to the F1 module regardless of the NXOS version of code.
Are the HSRP/VRRP/GLBP virtual MAC addresses also inserted into the RMM table?
1) If yes, will we have same impact and drop packets if bridged through the FW (when packets arrive on F1 port that does not have the SVI)
No HSRP/VRRP/GLBP are not inserted in RMM. You will not have this issue for any other macs other than svi macs.
2) If HSRP vMAC is not in the RMM table, how does the F1 module know the packet has to be routed?
It is through mac table. G bit set will indicate routing has to be done. -

The EOBC is Ethernet Out of Band Channel.
There are regular keepalives or 'heartbeats' going between the sup and line cards. The error messages you received indicate a heartbeat went missing between SUP and linecard.
If a single heartbeat went missing, it will be corrected automatically, however if multiple heartbeats are lost simultaneously then the line card would be reset (sup would power off and power on that slot in attempt to resolve a diagnostic issue).
So if the card is stable after that you can consider this as a one time (transient) issue.
You can also check EOBC stats to see if any error increasing.

Enabling FCoE on N7K-F132XP-15
I ran into a problem not being able to license FCoE on N7K-F132XP-15 module. I have the license file installed properly, but still getting "

switch(config)#Padma, I think you solved the problem. The "license fcoe module 2 force" took affect (see output below). The "force" option is hidden, so I didn't make that guess on my own. I hope from here on the card should be able to handle FCoE configuration. If you know of any other pitfalls with this particular hardware revision, please share.

Catalyst 4506 and Modules in Pwr Over state
Hello,
First of all, my excuses for my bad english.
I am experiencing a problem with a Cisco Catalyst 4506.
The switch is filled with 48 port PoE blades (WS-X4248-RJ45V).
The error we receive is:
Sept 5 15:40:12: %C4K_IOSMODPORTMAN-4-INLINEPOWEROVERWARNING: Inline power exceeds threshold: Module status changed to 'Pwr Over'
Sept 5 16:37:04: %C4K_IOSMODPORTMAN-6-INLINEPOWEROK: Inline power within limits: Module status changed to 'Ok'

According to the Cisco website:
Explanation
This message indicates that the measured PoE is at least 50 w higher than the configured value. The switch has either misconfigured PoE or an unauthorized powered device that is connected to the switch and is drawing a lot of PoE.
Out put for the commands sh power details and sh module all are attached.
The switch has no PoE devices on the specific blade.
Atleast not that we know.
Does any one know some other solution?
Thanks in advance.
Martijn GroenleerWell, blade six went offline on the first row of the log i posted earlier.
The problem is, the log doesn't mention in the message which module went offline.
About the 'efficiency' i noticed this also, what could be causing this? Power supplies are already replaced. PoE is on default settings currently.

Cisco 6500 power supply and module (hot-swappable?)
Hi everyone!
We have currently a Cisco 6500 with 2 power supply of 3000w. We want to replace these PS for 2 new ones, which have higher wattage: 6000w.
Can we replace them without needing to turn the 6500 off?. I mean, What happens if we insert a 6000w PS and the switch is working with one 3000w PS?
Is it possible to do this replacement "on hot"?
And second, we also have a ws-x6708-10g-3c module. Can we insert this module "on hot"? Without needing to turn the Catalyst 6500 off?
Thanks a lot! and looking forward to an answer.Depends on your setup the table should be able to help:

Configuration Change
Effect
Redundant to nonredundant
•System log and syslog messages are generated.
•System power is increased to the combined power capability of both power supplies.
•Modules marked power-deny in the show power oper state field are brought up if there is sufficient power.
Nonredundant to redundant (both power supplies must be of equal wattage)
•System log and syslog messages are generated.
•System power is decreased to the power capability of one supply.
•If there is not enough power for all previously powered-up modules, some modules are powered down and marked as power-deny in theshow power oper state field.
Equal wattage power supply is inserted with redundancy enabled
•System log and syslog messages are generated.
•System power equals the power capability of one supply.
•No change in module status because the power capability is unchanged.
Equal wattage power supply is inserted with redundancy disabled
•System log and syslog messages are generated.
•System power is increased to the combined power capability of both power supplies.
•Modules marked power-deny in the show power oper state field are brought up if there is sufficient power.
Higher or lower wattage power supply is inserted with redundancy enabled
•System log and syslog messages are generated.
•The system does not allow you to operate a power supply of different wattage even if the wattage is higher than the installed supply. The inserted supply shuts down.
Higher or lower wattage power supply is inserted with redundancy disabled
•System log and syslog messages are generated.
•System power is increased to the combined power capability of both power supplies.
•Modules marked power-deny in the show power oper state field are brought up if there is sufficient power.
Power supply is removed with redundancy enabled
•System log and syslog messages are generated.
•No change in module status because the power capability is unchanged.

•System power is decreased to the power capability of one supply.
•If there is not enough power for all previously powered-up modules, some modules are powered down and marked as power-deny in theshow power oper state field.
System is booted with power supplies of different wattage installed and redundancy enabled
•System log and syslog messages are generated.
•The system does not allow you to have power supplies of different wattage installed in a redundant configuration. The lower wattage supply shuts down.
System is booted with power supplies of equal or different wattage installed and redundancy disabled
•System log and syslog messages are generated.
•System power equals the combined power capability of both power supplies.
•The system powers up as many modules as the combined capacity allows. -
Bad memory modules or motherboard??
I rearranged the cables in my case and now I'm not able to boot using dual channel memory configuration. It worked before just fine!
I've got two 512MB twinmos twister pc3500 modules.
D-bracket indicates bad memory module if I try to setup dual channel using dimm 1 and dimm 3. I've tried other dual channel combinations with the same result.
I can only boot using dimm 1! using the other slots get me the bad memory module status on the d-bracket. I've tested both mem modules in slot 1 and I am able to boot so it seems the mem modules are OK. Or are they OK for just single channel config?
Do I have a faulty motherboard or are the memory modules bad?
MSI 865PE neo2 fisr rev 1.00
2x512MB twinmos twister pc3500Christ! what is it with these MSI boards?
The 2 848P's i tried both worked fine with a single 512mb strip in, but put another in and the D Bracket Light 2 stays and the PC fails to boot or reboot properly - it's totally hit n miss.
See my thread for the unbelievable amount of problems i've had with the 848P! :
http://www.msi.com.tw/program/e_service/forum/index.php?threadid=31192&sid=
I'm RMA'ing both 848P's as i've tried everything, now even the forum moderators say rma the boards so i know its nothing trivial happening here... They're even going to get MSI to look at my thread - so hopefully they will take notice!
Am i to take it that the 865 also has similar problems, ffs!
Is there a stable MSI mobo available that will take 2 DDR's sticks or not?

Util.regex.Pattern documentation
The 1.5 documentation for util.regex.Pattern defines quantifiers that are greedy, reluctant, or possessive. The definitions of these quantifiers seem to be the same. For example, X?, X??, and X?+ are each defined as "X, once or not at all." Is this a
