N8 and WLAN newbee question(s)
Hi,
I'm new to the WLAN field. I don't know how to start a WLAN session. The reason I'm asking because I travel a lot and like to have my music with me. So I installed Spotify on my N8. But Spotify wants to use a WLAN connection. I tried to start one at home but it asks for a password. Where does this password come from? FYI, I do NOT have a wireless network at home. Still using godd old network cables - for security reasons mainly.
I understand there's a lot to learn so if anyone feels he has the time and strength to work me through this WLAN area, I'd be most grateful and this person is welcome to contact me directly.
Depending on the setting of wireless network, you need to configure your phone accordingly. Regarding the tutorial part, there are api in the "Dynamic Help" box,
What i did was extracting the java doc into my desktop for easy reference. JSC's screen is too small.
U can find these references under "C:\Sun\Creator2\rave2.0\docs". Just unzip them -

Its your network and what ever meets your requirements you can use that.. however both of them does its job with different features involved.

Is it possible to turn off the 3G and WLAN connections so that the they are active ONLY when I need them?
Currently I have 3G connection active all the time even I do not do anything with the Internet or applications which are using 3G (main display is showing the "connected" character below the 3G letters).
Also I would like to turn off the "search WLAN" feature until I am going to use that connction. I do not want to turn it OFF completely just want to put it away until I really need WLAN. I do not want it to search the WLAN networks until I need the WLAN.
I would like to turn these connection off to save the battery.As it was stated in several review articles, the connectivity concept on the N8 (formerly Symbian ^3) is still somewhat in an experimental state.
The introduced "Destinations" yet most of the programs are not aware of this functionality. My tipical scenario would be that I have:
- destination with all my WLANs and 3G for fallback
- destination with WLANs only
- destination with 3G only
this would allow me to direct my data flow exactly where I want it.
Instead what I get:
- AGPS goes out on a random (!) data connection
- S60v5 apps try to go the old way of "Define access point", being unaware of "Destinations"
- Gravity is even more confusing as it has its own WLAN option and absolutely disregards the phone options. It goes out on 3G even if there's WLAN available .
So the basic answer to your question:
at his moment can only check under connectivity what app is using your 3G data and check the setting within this app. You cannot generally disable 3G connection as far as I know

My iPod touch wont let me buy anything, i've beem using this account for a couple of years and now it says that this is the first ime this id has been used on my device... it's not.... and to sign in and answer security questions. i cant remember the answers to the questions. When I try to setup my new iPad air, I go through all the steps for the iCloud sign-in and choosing security questions and what not. But after I hit the agree to the terms and conditions... It says Apple ID could not be created because of a server error. Have no clue what to do... I've restarted the iPad and get the same message. But my internet works just fine.

Need help. I am running a 27 in imac with 16 gigs of ram. Photoshop runs really fast, except when opening files. It takes 5-10 minutes to open even a small file of 1 meg. I cleaned and validated all the fonts and removed all questionable fonts. Reset preferences and still have problem. Slow to open and in force quit "Photoshop not responding" At this point should I uninstall and start over.
What are the performance Preferences?

I want to change my icloud id on my iPhone, but it won't let me now that i have upgraded. I no longer have the password and the problem is It is using an old id which the email isn't valid and the security question does not think my birthday is valid. I cannnot delete the account because "find my iphone" wants the password linked to this old account. But when i go into the find my iphone app it is using my corect Apple ID. How do i fix this?
If you still have access to your old email address, go to https//appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your iCloud ID. Tap edit next to the primary email account, tap Edit, change it back to your old email account and verify it. Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address. You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iPhone on your device. Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud). Next, go back to https//appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was. You can now go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your correct iCloud ID and password.
If you don't have access to your old email address, you will have to contact Apple to have them reset the password so you can disable Find My iPhone and sign into your iCloud account. Communication between : AP and WLAN controller
Hi,
The communication between AP and WLAN Controller is ( Data and Control ) UDP.
Source port 1024 and destination port 12222 and 12223. Actually which device listen to which port or both should listen as control and data can be generated from both the devices.
How does the user ( wireless client) traffic is switched - if user traffic is a TCP traffic. It will be sent to WLANC and then WLANC forwards it to respective VLAN or default gateway ( depending upon the destination in the packet ).
Please explain / share the experience.

Subodh"the LWAPP Control and Data messages are encapsulated in UDP packets that are carried over the IP network. The only requirement is established IP connectivity between the access points and the WLC. The LWAPP tunnel uses the access point's IP address and the WLC's AP Manager interface IP address as endpoints. The AP Manager interface is explained in further detail in the
implementation section. On the access point side, both LWAPP Control and Data messages use an ephemeral port that is derived from a hash of the access point MAC address as the UDP port. On the WLC side, LWAPP Data messages always use UDP port 12222. On the WLC side, LWAPP Control messages always use UDP port 12223.
The mechanics and sequencing of Layer 3 LWAPP are similar to Layer 2 LWAPP except that the packets are carried in UDP packets instead of being encapsulated in Ethernet frames."

A Managed Library, is the default setting, and iPhoto copies files into the iPhoto Library when Importing. The files are then stored in the Library package
A Referenced Library is when iPhoto is NOT copying the files into the iPhoto Library when importing because you made a change at iPhoto -> Preferences -> Advanced. (You unchecked the option to copy files into the Library on import) The files are then stored where ever you put them and not in the Library package. In this scenario you are responsible for the File Management.
Assuming a Managed Library:
Make sure the drive is formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
1. Quit iPhoto
2. Copy the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to the External Disk.
3. Hold down the option (or alt) key while launching iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new location. From that point on this will be the default location of your library.
4. Test the library and when you're sure all is well, trash the one on your internal HD to free up space.
