N8 Belle update on Mac. Lost contacts, sms, etc.

Finally updated my N8 to Belle using Nokia Software Updater on a Mac. It blew out all my personal data. Should have backed up, I realize now. Does the update put those files elsewhere on the phone? Is it possible to restore?

Your suggestion was halfgood. The DNLA function is good for streaming videos and music for DNLA machines but not what I was suggestion to.
I also tried the carmode which was much better than the ordinary already installed firmware on transmitting the radio.
The carmode seems to have a BT function which finds the device but it doesn't do anything else than finding it. I tried to BT stream music to a Creative D100 device and a Jambox. It finds it but it stops there.
I wanna pair the phone (N8) to those devices. This cannot be the hardest request comming from a consumer can it?

A possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

Mac lost contact with HP color Laserjet 3700 via USB

Hi,
Since a few days I can't get connection anymore with my HP color Laserjet 3700 via USB-cable. My Mac recognizes the printer with its name, also states when I plug in the USB that the printer is online. However, when I want to print documents, it states "wait until the printer is available" and no prints are generated.
Via an iMAC, I tried to print via the same USB cable, and that works fine. I tried rebooting, software updates, all the lot. Nothing worked. I found some technical details via About this MAC and the difference between my MacBook en iMAC is:
PPD-version = 16.4 on the iMAC and 17.3 on my MacBook
CUPS-version = 1.4.4 on the iMAC and 1.4.5 on my MacBook Pro
Who has any ideas what I can do the get printing again?

I had the same problem "Waiting for printer to become available... " - HP LaserJet 2500 L with iMAC 11.1 running Mac OS X Version 10.6.5. since the "HP Printer Software Update 2.5.2".
This also helped for me:
1) delete all of the items whose name starts with "hp_" in System/Library/Extensions
2) Disconnect the printer and turn off the printer
3) delete the printer if it's still there
4) reset the printing system
5) restart the Mac
6) empty the trash
7) turn on the printer and reconnect the printer to the MAC
8) reinstall the printer

Restore from a backup.
Rule of thumb. Better to keep in on your Mac when upgrading. You may miss important error messages.

While updating to IOS 5, was ask 4 backup pw, keyed in apple id pw(the only pw I know) but was prompted wrong pw then phone stop @ setup screen. i had the same problem and i had to completely restart my ipod. when you plug it into the computer go on itunes and click on your ipod icon. THe ipod menu should be there (summary) click on the restore button. it worked for me, all the best i hope it works for you.

Unfortunately, this message is almost always an indication that the internal AirPort card on the Mac has failed and will need to be replaced. This is a job for repair shop.

Up-to-date contacts on iPhone and MobileMe won't won't update the Mac

I just got an iPhone GS and there's a glitch that's driving me mad. (I had an iPod Touch before this so it's not all new.)
First of all I had duplicate Calendars and Contacts ("On my Mac" and MobileMe) so deleted those on my mac by following the instructions here: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1922950 which just left MobileMe.
After a bit of fiddling and resetting the Calendars now work so that when I update the iPhone it appears on the Mac, and vice versa.
However, this is not the case with Contacts, and since repeating the process (resetting the Mac, deleting on iPhone and starting again) now if I make changes to contacts on the iPhone they do update MobileMe, but MobileMe does not update the Mac. When I update MobileMe on the website it won't update the Mac either.
I've done everything I can think of/have read about and would really love to get this working as it should.

Yet more information:
I went ahead and clicked "Replace" and then got the following error message:
"You are attempting to reset Contacts on MobileMe from this computer.
Contacts have recently been reset on Mobileme. Are you sure you want to reset the Contacts on MobileMe?"
But nothing changed (didn't even lose the up-to-date contact changes on the iPhone) but then I get the error messages again and again and again...

1. No, you haven't.
2. Back up the iPhoto library(this can be done through Time Machine or by dragging it to a drive, partition, or disk image formatted as Mac OS Extended) and then click Upgrade.
3. Aside from Time Machine and drag-copying items from your home folder, programs such as the Disk Utility, Carbon Copy Cloner, and SuperDuper can make backups.

How to get back software I lost with Belle update?

I had the following games installed on my N8 when there was this "Summer Game Gifts" campaign:
- Tom Clancy's H.A.W.X. HD+
- Angry Birds Seasons
- The Settlers
- Angry Birds Rio
- Monopoly Classic HD
- Worms HD
- GT Racing HD+
- Tetris HD
- Guitar Rock Tour 2 HD
They are all, besides of almost every other program/app I had installed, lost with the Belle update. Only Tetris is still on my mobile, maybe I had installed it accidentally on C: and not like all the other games on E:
All the games don't appear in my Nokia Store history ... but one game "Brain+" appears in my history but costs now 90c, I downloaded it for free like two months ago.
Why isn't the update making a backup of ALL applications if also applications on E: are deleted during the update process?
And my prime question: How can I get back all this games?

There is a FAQ by Nokia regarding the Belle update and more specifically what apps are not yet compatible.

So far, the Belle update seems to be the most problematic update yet and given the time it's taken them to release the update since they announced it back in August 2011, you'd have thought it would have been a lot better than this.

I don't know enough to not follow directions. I bought the software brand new in a sealed from factory box. Had it sitting around until - last week when I deleted flash on my computer and had to upgrade to the new OSX. Mountain Lion doesn't use iPhoto - so I had to go with something else. Since I already had this new - unopened package I opened it up. Shut down all running programs - inserted the disk and followed all the directions for installation. Still it didn't work.
I have now uninstalled it (the proper way) and am going to try again.

Did you do a backup of your phone or have a backup prior to doing the update? If you have one then restore your phone to that backup http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766 . IF you don't then all your pics/texts are gone.
You can sync your phone with itunes, to get back apps and contacts.

Lost contacts & photos after update to 4.2.1

Did the update to my iPhone tonight. Went through the usual procedure through iTunes. Afterward I saw first that many of my photos were gone. Then saw that many of my Contacts were gone. It looks as though it lost contacts and photos that were added to the phone after May 19. Great! I went back to iTunes and did a restore to Backup but that didn't fix anything.

I had the same problem today. Plugged the phone into my work PC to let it charge, and let it do the update. Everything was gone..:( Read the posts, but guessed that there must be a way back..
I plugged the iphone3 in first to my PC
Go to :
C:\Documents and Settings\User Name\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup
Copy the last backup to be sure, and put in someplace on your desktop.
Then go to :
C:\Documents and Settings\User Name\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\Mobile Backups
Open the file called structured.
Copy all the files in this folder.
Go back to
C:\Documents and Settings\User Name\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup
and paste the files in here..
It seemed like itunes kept a backup before it did the update..
I got all my contacts and messages back this way..
I lost my apps, but thats better than nothing.
