N8 Calendar - delete all events?

Hi,
As part of my on-going struggles with iSync (see posts passim) I've ended up with my entire calendar on my phone twice - once in the calendar Personal and once in PC Suite. I don't know how it got into Personal, but I really need it gone, because iSync will use the PC Suite calendar...
...anyway, my question is this: since I can't delete the personal calendar, can anyone tell me how to delete all the events in it, short of going through them one by one?
A solution involving iSync is no good, since it doesn't work properly.
Thanks in anticipation for your help,
Ben

I think when you select ALL it will not only delete for the month in display but all the Entries...and you won't have to do it for individual 36 months...

  • My calendar deletes all events over 30 days old?

I have been trying to get my calendar to save all past events, not just 30 days. How can I get-r-done?

    Hi bagettymoseslake,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
You can change the settings for your Calendar to Sync All Events:
    Calendar settings - iPhone
    http://help.apple.com/iphone/7/#/iph3d11102c
    Calendar settings
Several settings in Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars affect Calendar and your calendar accounts. These include:
Syncing of past events (future events are always synced)
Alert tone played for new meeting invitations
    Default calendar for new events
    Default time for alerts
Calendar time zone support, to show dates and times using a different time zone
    Which day starts the week
    Cheers,

  • Calendar will delete all events every time I update it

Every time after my mom updates her iPhone 5, it will delete all events she created. It happened with the last update, and also happened with the most revent update, which delete over 20 Doctors appointments, birthdays, school events etc. and she has no other place she wrote them down. Is there any way to retrieve these, or stop it from happening in the future?

I spent most of yesterday rebuilding my library from a back up program. This has only happened with this latest update. How do I prevent it from happening?
I am also having to redownload all my music purchases from (well most) from the cloud, and that isn't working either.
It would be nice if someone from Apple would respond.

  • Is there a way to delete all events with the same title (not added as reoccurring) without deleting one at a time?

i currently have a calendar synced that has events scheduled in perpetuity, scheduled as individual events.  I would like to delete all events with the same title.  I do not want to delete the entire calendar nor do I want to go into every event and delete individually.  These were not scheduled by me so I do not know how they were added one by one and go on forever but they are NOT scheduled as reoccurring and thus must be modified individually.
I can do a search and find all events, is there a way to just delete all events with the same title all at once?
this is a Microsoft outlook synced calendar and I am seemingly unable to delete the events all at one time from Microsoft as well.
    Please help!

If you still have access to the Outlook calendar in Outlook, I would delete them from there. There are a number of ways to do that, but if you open the individual event in Outlook, does it show a repeating pattern? If not, then you may have to delete them individually, but that is not that difficult either. Go into the calendar and then change the view to a list view. From there you can sort the view according to subject. This should bring all of these same appointments together in the list and you can select the group in Outlook and delete them. Once you do that, you can change your view back and then sync the phone. That will remove the events from the phone.

  • How to delete all events from iCal?

Is it possible to select and delete all events from iCal? Or is it simpler to delete the calendar itself? Thanks!

    Sorted now!
To clarify for people like me: type "." in the search bar
Then click on the first item in the results pane
Go to the other end of the list, hold down shift, and click the LAST item
They should all be highlighted now
    Then use Edit/Delete
NB it may take a couple of mins (or ten!) for the items to disappear from your view, particularly if syncing with MobileMe.

  • TS3999 why does the calendar delete past events?

why does the calendar delete past events?

    Hello 123Giblet,
The iPhone has a setting for how long a past event will appear in your calendar.  I found steps to help you change this setting in the iPhone User Guide:
    Calendar settings
There are several settings in Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars that affect Calendar and your calendar accounts. These include:
•Syncing of past events (future events are always synced)
•Alert tone played for new meeting invitations
•Calendar time zone support, to show dates and times using a different time zone
When you tap on Sync, you will be given several options for how long you want past events to stay on your iPhone, and there is also an option to select All Events so that they remain on your calendar.  You can find this information on page 69 of the iPhone User Guide

  • HT1766 When backing up my iPhone does my calendar and all events back up as well?

When backing up my iPhone does my calendar and all event back up as well?

    Hello Marsh1987,
Thank you for the question.  Items that are synced through iCloud are not backed up through iCloud:
Your iOS device backup only includes data and settings stored on your device. It doesn’t include data already stored in iCloud, for example contacts, calendars, bookmarks, mail messages, notes, shared photo streams, My Photo Stream, and documents you save in iCloud using iOS apps and Mac apps.
iCloud: iCloud storage and backup overview
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH12519
If you have Calendars enabled in Settings > iCloud, they will be synced through iCloud so that you can view them on other devices that have Calendars enabled in the iCloud settings or at https://www.icloud.com/#calendar

  • In Calendar, deleting one event in a recurring event deletes everything...

When I delete one event in a recurring event, calendar deletes the entire event, both past and future. I am clicking the option "delete only this event," and the rest of the recurring event doesn't disappear on my iphone 4 (linked through iCloud). The strange thing is that the rest of the recurring event comes back after leaving the calendar alone for a day or two. Is it a problem with calendar or iCloud? Thanks for your help.

    Hi,
Personal opinion, the issue may be related to Calendar updating in another user side who has permission to this shared calendar.
To narrow down the issue, please do the following changes:
    1. Confirm if the shared calendar permission is set for Reviewer or higher permission for this user.
    2. Please remove this shared calendar from Calendar list and add it back to check whether the issue persists.
    3. Change Outlook to Online mode and check whether the deleted single occurrences of recurring meeting is shown in calendar or not.

  • Why does my Calendar delete events over a year old?

My calendar deletes all events more than a year old. I am running the latest version of Mountain Lion -- 10.8.3. All events on iCloud also delete after a year. I have an iMac with 3.06 GHz Intel Core Duo and 4 GB of RAM. I've checked all my other devices, but there doesn't seem to be any settings to keep or delete data. Since I keep my appointments as a record, this has become a real problem, but I don't see any other questions like this in the Communities. Please help.

    Julie,
If I try to open the app, iCal, all that shows is a circle with a line through it, indicating it's not available or even there.
You will not be able to open older applications through the Time Machine interface.
Also, can I look in Time Machine for lost data? How do I do that? My library is hidden in my user folder, so I can't find it.
Calendar data is stored in the Macintosh HD/Users/yourusername/Library/Calendars folder. If you open the Finder>Go menu, and depress the "option" key, you will find an be able to open the hidden Library folder.
Restoring iCloud calendars from Time Machine, by Roger Wilmut describes the restoration process, but I do not recommend that you attempt this procedure unless you have proper backup, nor am I certain that it will work for restoring older entries.
Retaining older Calendar entries on iOS | iLounge Article, suggests that other user installed applications/services may interfere with the calendar retention selection.

  • How do you delete all occurrences of a recurring event in iCal without deleting them one by one?

These events have no stopping point, and go on into eternity. How do I get them out of iCal without having to delete each one separately? I want to sync with my new iPhone, but don't want these events in my iPhone calendar. They are in my old iPhone when I synced it a couple of years ago. In the iPhone, you have no way to delete or edit these events.
    Thanks for any suggestions.

    pedfogog,
... or whoever may find this post in need of assistance as I was.
I just had this same problem and successfully deleted ALL event (past and future)instances by :
    1. Click on any instance of the event in the calendar
    2. Select "Delete" from the iCal toolbar "Edit" menu.
    3. The iCal propmt asked me to choose to delete all or just the one instance.
    4. Naturally, select to "Delete all occurrences"
    I am running OS 10.6.8   iCal 4.0.4

  • All calendar deleted

I had issues with syncing my iphone calendar.I use mobileme and i don't sync with ical. For some reason, when I changed calendar events on my iphone, they would reappear later, or create doubles: very annoying. Why do the events reappear after deleting them o changing them? So I tried to troubleshoot it, and I ended up unchecking the sync calendars with ical box but it synced anyway, and my ical was empty so it synced to my iphone and it deleted all my calendar events on my iphone. i have mobileme so i figured that i would be able to retrieve them. After a few minutes the events reappeared on my iphone (presumably from moibileme). But then, after another few minutes they were gone again. I went on mobile me website, and they were gone too. So my empty calendar events on my iphone synced with mobileme and deleted all events off mobileme.
Is there a way to go back in time and retrieve previous calendar events from mobileme? or maybe from ical (i had a few calendar events in there)?

So I tried to troubleshoot it, and I ended up unchecking the sync calendars with ical box but it synced anyway, and my ical was empty so it synced to my iphone and it deleted all my calendar events on my iphone.
sSorry, but this doesn't make sense. You don't use iCal on your Mac so you weren't syncing iCal on your Mac automatically or manually with your MobileMe online calendar or with the MobileMe "cloud"? Why not?
And since you don't use iCal on your Mac, why was Sync Calendars selected under the Info tab for your iPhone sync preferences to begin with which was unchecked as a troubleshooting step? If this had been checked under the Info tab for your iPhone sync preferences which syncs calendars/calendar events direct with iCal on your Mac via the iTunes sync process, this would have no affect on your calendars/calendar events downloaded from and being kept synchronized with your MobileMe online calendar or with the MobileMe "cloud". When doing both - syncing calendars over the air with your MobileMe account on your iPhone and syncing direct with iCal via the iTunes sync process, the calendars are kept separate on the iPhone - one does not and cannot affect the other, so you either provided this incorrectly by mistake, or you aren't being truthful.
Although I sync my iCal calendars/calendar events and my contact info with the MobileMe cloud, I maintain several backups for this data since it is very important to me. I have a Time Machine backup, I use the MobileMe Backup application to automatically back up my iCal and Address Book data on a set schedule which is stored on my iDisk, and I manually create a backup for each - which is a quick and easy process stored locally on my computer's hard drive.

  • How can I STOP ical from deleting all my events after a month or so

No matter how I set the preferences/settings it always keeps deleting all events after 30 to 40 days.
I have gone into preferences and checked off the
    "DELETE EVENTS AFTER...
and put 99 or 999 days and it doens make a difference
If Ileave the box unchecked - it STILL doesn't make difference
    Anyone has a suggestion?
as I keep loosing all the important info/phone numbers I enter.
    Thanks
    Bruno

    Bruno,
    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
Are you using any sync software?
The easiest thing to try is to refresh the the com.apple.iCal.plist file. You will find the com.apple.iCal.plist file in your Macintosh HD/Users/yourusername/Library/Preferences Folder. Quit iCal, drag the com.apple.iCal.plist file to your Desktop, log out/in or restart, and make sure the deletion preference is not checked.

  • How do I delete a prior month(s) or entire year(s) in iCal on my iMac (using version 4.0.4 (1395.7)?  Want to delete all months in 2009

I checked what was previous asked in deleting months from iCal; however, that question pertained to removing events from a month and not necessarily deleting the entire month.  I have three years of calendars (January - December x three) in my iCal and want to delete all months for 2009 and 2010; however, I can't seem to find a way to delete.  I checked preferences/advanced under iCal but no mention of deleting previous months/years.

    Greetings Judith,
Before making any attempts at deleting calendar data, backup what you have just in case:
Click on each calendar on the left hand side of iCal one at a time highlighting it's name and then going to File Export > Export and saving the resulting calendar file to a logical location for safekeeping.
iCal has an automated function located in iCal > Preferences > Advanced > Delete events "X" days after they have passed.  By typing in a value for days you can tell iCal to delete all events before that time frame.
    Example:
    Today is 4-16-2012.
If I wanted to delete all events prior to 1 year ago (4-16-2011) I would type in "365" for the number of days.
Once you type in the number of days you want kept in iCal, close the preferences and then quit iCal.
Re-open iCal and check to see if the events are gone.  If not you may want to leave it open for several minutes and then quit again.
Once the events are removed go back to  iCal > Preferences > Advanced > Delete events "X" days after they have passed and make sure the check mark is removed to prevent future deletion.
    Hope that helps.
