N8 charging light stays on, even with leads remove...

If I connect my N8 to my PC with the USB cable, the charging light stays on even after the cable has been removed.  See this pic: http://img815.imageshack.us/i/imgp2508k.jpg/
I have to reboot the phone to get the light to turn off.

I think that the light is controlled by the middle pin in the connector. Check it very carefully with a magnifying glass to see if any of the pins are bent or if there is any metalic dust in there.

  • Won't Charge, Light stays green.

I searched and could not find an answer for my problem. I have a Mid-2010 Macbook Pro. I recently upgraded the RAM and hard-drive. Now my macbook pro will not charge. It is working when it is pluged it but the light stays green and will not go orange. The power seems to keep the mac running but will not charge the battery. I did unplug the battery when workind but have checked and it is reconnected secure. Thanks for any suggestions!

Any advice would help a lot! The charger will keep my laptop running but will not charge the battery. My compter is saying the battery is good and is finding no problem with the AC power besides saying it is connectted but the battery is not charging.

  • Is my MBP broken forever? It won't charge or power on even with the battery unplugged

    Hello,
My 2011 MacBook Pro has completely died.
Around a month ago I set it down (carefully), it made a clicking noise and would not turn on. The charger light was still green but would not power back up. I unplugged the battery and it was working fine with the charger alone so I presume that the battery was the problem but did not buy a battery as I had no money/apple appointments are apparently like trying to find a needle in a haystack.
Then I was using it, moved it slightly and it turned off again, would power up but only when the charger was plugged in without pressing the power button AND with the screen closed. It did this a few times and then will no longer charge or turn on. The charger shows no light. I do carry it around quite a lot for my job but it hasn't received any damage in the time it has been broken.
this also happens after I had cleaned the MacBook down and installed Yosemite.
Is it a write off or just the battery?

    Try a SMC reset:

If no success, make an appointment at an Apple store genius bar for a FREE evaluation.
    Ciao.

  • Weird: Orange charging light stays on

I have noticed in the last couple of days that the orange charging light was coming on more frequently than usual. It was on last night and is still on today. Any ideas what could be wrong?
    Battery Information:
    Battery Installed: Yes
    First low level warning: No
    Full Charge Capacity (mAh): 3015
    Remaining Capacity (mAh): 3014
    Amperage (mA): 0
    Voltage (mV): 12374
    Cycle Count: 26
    AC Charger Information:
    AC Charger (Watts): 50
    Connected: Yes
    Charging: No
Coconut battery says that the current battery charge is 3013 mAh, the maximum battery charge is 3015 mAh, and it is at 99%. The current battery capacity is 3015 mAh, the original battery capacity was 4200 mAh, and it is at 71%. The battery-loadcycles are 26, the age of my Mac is 59 months, the charger is connected, and the battery is not charging.

Update to my post: I decided to unplug the adaptor/charger and let the battery discharge to 93%. I then plugged it in again and after charging the battery to 100%, the orange charging light went off like it is supposed to. So all seems well for now but I still have no idea what was causing the light to stay orange and not switch to green or to come on frequently. I only hope the adaptor is not going bad. BTW, for those who search the postings for answers to their problems before submitting a question, I called the light orange while others have called it amber.

  • TS1367 My White 13" MacBook (the last model ever produced) will no longer turn on, and the charger light won't even luminesce when plugged in.

My MacBook has been suffering for the last 2 and a half years or so, and finally called it quits today.
There were many things wrong with it, but the most debilitating issue was with the battery; if the computer wasn't plugged into a wall, it would immediately die. Upon being powered back on, the clock would always be reset to 12/31/2000 at 7:00 PM. As I stated in the title, it will no longer even power on or recognize a charger. Help would be much appreciated. If it's a battery issue then I can replace it, but I don't want to buy a new battery if my computer is totaled.

First see the MagSafe troubleshooting tips:Apple Portables: Troubleshooting MagSafe adapters and check to see that all looks ok.  You might want to try using another charger in case the charger is faulty.  If that doesn't help, take the MacBook Pro and charger to an Apple store genius bar and have the technicians test the system to see where the fault is.

  • Adapter light stays on even after removing from MacBook Pro

    Hi,
I have a MacBook Pro. I noticed something odd last night. When I remove the adapter from the MacBook Pro (you know, the magnetic end that attaches to the MacBook Pro), the light on the adapter still stays green/on. I actually have to unplug the adapter from the wall outlet to make the light turn off. This never happened before.
Has anyone seen this before? Any advice?
    Thanks.

  • Why does the amber light stay on even though the WiFi works?

    My WIFi just stopped yesterday.
Initially nothing worked. I then Restarted the router—then the Airport Extreme–NOTHING.  I called Apple support. He had me push the re-start button and a few other things.  I can now get on WIFi, but the amber light still stays on. Why? Although my Mac works great, my iPhone doesn't.
    Any ideas?

I would recommend that you do the following as a minimum:
Power-down the modem, AirPort base station, and computer(s).
Power-up the modem; wait at least 10-15 minutes to allow it adequate time to initialize.
Power-up the AirPort base station; wait at least 5-10 minutes. Note: The AirPort's status light may continue to flash amber after it has intialized. That is because, there may be some additional configuration items necessary, like setting up wireless security, before the overall setup is completed to get a green status.
    Power-up your computer(s).
If the above steps do not solve the problem, start over with step 1 above, but then perform the next steps between steps 1 & 2. above.
Disconnect the AirPort base station from the Internet broadband modem.
While all of the devices are powered-down, perform a "factory default" reset on the base station. This will get it back to its "out-of-the-box" configuration and make setting it up much easier, especially if you use the "Assist me" process within the AirPort Utility. (ref:Resetting an AirPort Base Station or Time Capsule)
After the base station resets, go ahead and power it back down.
Reconnect the AirPort base station to the Internet broadband modem. For the Extreme and Time Capsule, be sure to connect the cable to the base station's WAN (circle-of-dots) port.
Continue with step 2 in the first set of steps.
In this basic configuration, the AirPort base station will broadcast an unsecured wireless network with a Network Name (SSID) of Apple Network NNNNNN. Network clients, connected to the base station either by wire or wireless, should now be able to access the Internet through the ISP's modem. Once Internet connectivity has been verified, you can use the AirPort Utility to configure the base station for wireless security and any other desired options. Please post back your results.

  • Can I stay connected even with the laptop closed?

Is it possible to close the top of the laptop, but still stay connected to the internet? If so, how?

  • My iphone won't stay on, even with the battery at 100%.

My iphone 3gs keeps dying.  It won't synch or be recognised by the computer.  I spent the whole day yesterday trying and eventually it did restore and stayed on for a few hours but has died again, despite the battery being at 98%.  I tried holding down the buttons but that does nothing.  I got a new one 18 months ago after my first one broke down, so think my Applecare is done.  Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. TY

Take it to an Apple store or AASP.

    I am from London UK
    Thanks guys.
    Pedja

I ordered last night, it says estimated ship on the
28th and delivery by the 30th.
    Not too long a wait
    PowerMac G5 Mac OS X (10.4.5)
Wow, yours is being sent out quick. I ordered on 3/22 and mine says ship date by 3/29, delivery by 4/5? Did you order a CTO, or just a standard model. Maybe me getting a CTO is causing a hold up. We ordered at pretty much the same time.

  • Ipod cannot eject. even with safely remove hardware.

I've had this problem ever since iTunes 7 was released. whenever I try to eject/update my iPod, I get an error saying "iPod cannot eject because it is in use by another program"
I've looked at programs that could be trying to acess it:
Outlook: not open, contacts not synced.
Antivirus: tried with *literally* three different programs, and with it all off. same thing
disk use: it's off, has been for the last 4 months.
I currently just shut down the computer, but the only problem is my iPod is now totally screwed over, and will not shut off, unless I use a speaker system's sleep function.
also, I know it is not adware/spyware/viruses, because we scan weekly, and we haven't had a problem for a year.
I have also tried it under every user account on this computer, and on numerous other computers. I have tried literally everything relevant in FAQs and such, and I STILL can't get it to work.
I've also managed to restore it a few times, and it has done nothing.

First of all, with your iPod connected, try resetting it. It may take several attempts. Also, try other usb ports on your computer.
Then, if that doesn't work look here.
iPod does not appear in iTunes.
Windows PC does not recognize the iPod is connected.

  • Adapter light stays on all the time...

My battery stopped charging on my MacBook a couple of weeks ago and since then it's had it's DC Inboard replaced, logic board replaced and battery replaced.
When I first got home with it last night the adapter was not working - just showed that it was plugged in but not charging - dh has a MBP and my adapter didn't work with his either and his power cord worked fine on my computer.
Today - tried my adapter again and it worked - but light stayed green even when it was charging - unplugged from my computer and the light stayed on, unplugged from the wall and the light still stayed on for a bit. Plugged it in again, didn't work at all. Plugged it in again with three prong into wall and it worked - is charging with amber light on right now however, when I unplug it from my computer the amber light just stays on. Also - my battery is 100% and the amber light did not change to green, said that it was still charging?
Am I making any sense at all? Do I need to get a new adapter or what the heck is going on now???
Thanks for any help you can offer.

The problem was the adapter itself - got it replaced and have had no problems!

  • Camera flash light stayed on

Had my nokia lumia 1020 4 days. After last charge the flash light stayed on,even when turned off.Got extremely warm. Then shut down.Cannot turn on now.Any one else had this problem?

Hi, Ernie5. Welcome to the Nokia Support Discussions! This seems to be an isolate case. Have you tried to press and hold the volume down and power keys? You can also try to charge the phone to make sure that it has enough battery left on it. Keep us posted on the outcome. Thanks!

  • Satellite P10 PSP10E shutdown and the light stays on

    Hello,
    I'm having a few troubles with my old (2004) Satellite P10 PSP10E-0SCM7-FR
One day it simply shut down (as if out of power, no BSOD) and the power button as well as the led for the WIFI and CD/DVD stay on.
Most of the time I cannot turn it back on as the power buton still is on. (Power button, WIFI and CD/DVD are on).
I've tried to take the battery out and unplug the computer for at least 30mm
I've tried to press the start button for a while (a minute) then unplug everyting (Power cord + battery) for at least 30 mn before to turn it back on
I've reinitialzed the computer using therecovery CD provided with the computer
I've removed the heatsink, cleaned it as well as the fan then put back some new thermal grease
    I've changed the memory
Yet I still have the same problem, for some unknown reason, the computer simply shutdown and the light stays on. On occasion, the power light do go off, and I'm able to start the computer again. But I'm unable to understand what makes the computer shut itself down, or when that happens, what makes turns the power light off and make it possible to start the computer again.
Any idea of what's going on ?
Could the power button and light being turned on be an error message?
If so, what does it means ?
Any help is much appreciated. Thanks !
    Damien
the lights stay on even when taking the battery off and unpliging it to a while (30mm to an hour)

Hi PauPau and thanks for your help !
I'm a bit disapointed, I was hoping it was something that could fairly easily be fixed.
    :o|
Since the computer is about 10 years old, I'll certainly won't have it fixed as I'm affraid it would cost way too much. For a ltitle while i thought about getting another used P10 in order to get some spare parts to fix my computer. But I guess this is going to be much too complicated for me and might cost me a lot with no inssurance that I'll ever get it fixed.
I guess I should better save some money and buy a new one.
I'll stay subscribed to this thread... if anyone has an idea on what could be the problem, please post here. Thanks.
    Damien

  • Iphone 4 light stays on

my iphone 4 light stays on even if the phone is switched off...... what do i do?

I've now got the same problem. I was just using my phone then after finishing what I was doing noticed my iphone camera light was on. Tried everything. Went through all the settings. Turning the phone off. A restore, and still not fixed.
The light stayed on all through the restore!
I've also found that the camera does indeed turn off if I was to slightly bend the phone.
The light being on also makes the phone overheat. I got a message on the phone soon after this happened that the iphone was overheating...
If there is a fix for this without having to go to an apple store i'd like to hear it as the closest apple store is about 3 hours away...
Would the telco (Vodafone AU) replace the phone if I take it in to them?
