N8 Facebook App/Touch Facebook Site

What's the point of the N8 having a pre-installed Facebook app when there is a Touch Facebook site?  Also, I cannot delete or amend messages using the pre-installed N8 Facebook app which surely is a major fault/shortcoming and to then have to use the Touch Facebook site to amend a message posted using the app is just plain ridiculous!!!!
Any guidance is greatly appreciated!

Agreed, the Symbian Facebook app ain't great!  My brother's got the iphone 4 and facebook is brilliant on it, in fact he only uses his mobile for Facebook now because he reckons it's better than using his pc!
You asked if I'm using the Facebook app and not the Social app - ???  I have to go in through the social app to access the Facebook app (if that makes sense) because that seems to be how to use it on the N8.  But given the useless user guide provided with the N8 who knows!!!
Any clear advice from anyone is greatly appreciated. 
It seems bizarre for Nokia to shout about how great their Facebook app is on the N8 but when you can't delete or amend messages then it ain't that great!  I posted a message the other day and immediately needed to remove it  - no chance - so it was out there for all to read until I could access my pc!!!!  Come on Nokia sort it (or am I missing something)??  If so please update the user guide to tell people how to fully use it - gggrrrrrr!!!!!

      My Galaxy S4 will not allow me to view any Facebook site. I have tried using Wi-Fi and data without any luck.
      I have done restarts, virus scans and tried several ways to view a Facebook site. I go to those that I have bookmarked and tried a search for the site  and then try to click into it and still cannot connect. I have also gone to several locations that have Wi-Fi in case it was just my home system.
      I get a notice of a server error. My wife has the same phone bought at the same time and has not had trouble with this issue even for the same Facebook sites. My phone seems more glitchy that my wife's. At times I can't get the keyboard to go off the screen unless I restart the phone.

    It is working again. I was using the internet explorer app to view the Facebook sites.  I do not have a Facebook site so I was not using their app. I downloaded Firefox app and that allows me to view the Facebook sites I visit.
    I do not know why I can not use internet explorer as the settings are the same as my wife's phone and she can view them.
    I tried the battery trick and that did not work and I also cleared the history and cache on ie.

    I have an iPad mini running 6.1.3. I used to used the Facebook app, but after the last update a month ago it got so buggy that I gave up and resorted to using the web version instead. But for the last couple of weeks at least, when I try to access the Facebook site via Safari (with my browser ID'd as the desktop version), I get no graphics at all--just a bunch of text-based menus. And clicking on these menus does nothing other than bring me back to the same front page. I never see any posts, messages or anything else, even though I'm supposedly logged in (leader in URL is https). Going to the mobile version of the site produces the same results. I am able to access th "real" FB site less than 10% of the time--and even then, Safari never loads any images (I just get question marks instead).
    I am sure this problem is mostly on the Safari end, because when I use the Atomic Web or Photon browser instead, I almost always get into the site just fine. A small percentage of the time, I get the same scenario as above, but it never lasts more than an hour or so before I'm able to get back in with these browsers. But the Safari problem has not resolved, despite multiple reboots and a lot of waiting. Anyone have any idea how to fix this extremely annoying problem?

    are you going to facebook.com or m.facebook.com?
    I access regular facebook via safari on my iPad and have had no issues (at least since this morning)
    You could explore third party facebook apps.

    You cannot retrieve the already published site as iWeb CANNOT open it - it has no import facility.
    You need your domain.sites file, which you can find under User/Library/Application Support/iWeb/domain.sites.  You do not need any kind of account for this because it is your domain.sites file that resides on the hard drive of your Mac anyway.  Find this file and you can alter your website.
    Use a spotlight search to try and find it and if this does not work you can download something called Find Any File.  If you really can't find it, then you'll have to start from scratch because iWeb cannot open a site that is already published.

    I did download Ad Network Detector and opted out of JumpTap and AdMob.   Today I found more: MoPub and Millenial which I will opt out of.  I had previously opted out of Google Ads on the Cell phone but not on the net - so did that.  Allegedly it take time for the opt outs to reach the originators of these pop ups

  • The Gmail screen has very small text. It is barely legible. All other screens (Google apps and nother sites) are fine

    Running Firefox 17.0 under Windows 7. The text size on the GMail screens is so small as to be almost illegible. Other Google apps and other sites in general on Firefox are fine. Gmail on Internet Explorer is also fine. How can I increase the text size on the Gmail screens. Using the Firefox Options for text font and size has no effect.

    Have you tried Firefox's zoom feature? Font size and zoom - increase the size of web pages
    You can "zoom" all sites using this add-on: [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2592/ NoSquint]. After setting your global zoom level, you can still fine-tune the zoom on individual sites.
    After installing NoSquint, click the % on the Add-on Bar to call up site preferences, then click the Global Settings button, then the Zooming tab.
    If you don't have the Add-on Bar displayed, you can right-click the new tab button ("+") or a blank area of the tab bar to the right of it and choose Add-on Bar from the shortcut menu.
    You can experiment with sizes larger than 125%, but I wouldn't go much higher than 150% unless you have a large high-resolution monitor.
    If there are particular sites that still present a problem, feel free to post their URLs.

    I was fine when I was running Symbian Anna on my Nokia N8-00 and my E7-00 but since the Belle upgrade the Browser is unable to show some Java features (thats what I think the problem is) on the FaceBook Touch website (touch.facebook.com). Try it on your phone(s) the 'Notifications', 'Messages' and 'Friend Requests' button on the top are NOT loading. In addition to that alot of other functionality of the website is lost as well i.e. not infinite scrolling of the feed, it stops after the first page. Still works fine on Symbian Anna on one of my older phones, but Belle has the Browser with some limitations or functionality removed. I've also tried a third party browser (Opera NOT mini but Full version) and it is 'Extreamely' slow but opens the touch (as well as the full desktop) site eventually. Please Nokia developers, release a patch/upgrade for the browser. Need help.

    Well my friend, facebook is not the problem. The problem is the Browser (probably just a config) in Symbian Belle/FPx because it works absolutely fine on my N8-00, my WP8 phone as well as a stupid Android. The real need for this to work is because all the amazing Camera phones that have been invented (thanks to Nokia) like the N8-00 and the awe inspiring PureView 808 are now to be running Symbian Belle and the Browser in there is simply unable to load/function properly when loading the http://touch.facebook.com. The low bandwith (non-touch) version which is http://m.facebook.com works fine but the functionality is such limited in there that it takes the photo taker to transfer the photos/videos from the N8-00/808 to a PC/Mac etc in order to simply upload them. If it could've been just simply the matter of Point/Click take photo and zap it upload on touch.facebook.com then life would've been so much easier. One tiny little config/bug etc is holding the entire collection of people world wide from being simple and quick. I really hope Nokia releases a fix on the Ovi/Nokia store for this, even if it costs around $$$ I'd be the first one to buy/download. I'm even happy to get in touch with the developers to work with them, demonstrate and even more than happy to willingly compensate for the work. All I need is a contact.

    I have Firefox 3.6.13 on a high-resolution (1920x1200) laptop screen. It used to be that I could CTRL+ and zoom in on a website such as Facebook.com or NYT.com once, and then every time I clicked on a page within that site, such as one individuals' Facebook profile or one NYT article, it would remember my zoom settings and allow me to read comfortably. However now, every time I click on a new page, it resets the zoom to the default, which is very small font. The default is way too small for my eyes. This is becoming a huge problem as every time I navigate to a new page, I have to squint to see what's there and resize/zoom. I have to do this thousands of times a day??

    If you need to increase (or decrease) the font size on websites then look at NoSquint or Default FullZoom Level.

    If you need to increase or decrease the size of fonts and other elements in the user interface and web pages then increase the String pref layout.css.devPixelsPerPx from 1.0 to 2.0 in 0.1 steps to see what works best.
    In current Firefox versions this pref is a String value parsed to a float and allows to fine tune the dimensions of all elements (user interface and web pages) more precisely.

    For 3 days I have had problems with my Facebook account.  It occurred to me that it could possibly be my Facebook for Blackberry application that is causing the problems with my online facebook.. My problems are many..(these probs are on my ONLINE facebook only) ....My chat does not open or show friends online, my news feed only shows posts for about the past 30 minutes and no link at bottom to "view more", no option to "view more" on other pages as well.  I cannot view my notifications, it just sits there and spins when I click to view, I cannot access the notifications page in settings nor can I edit or delete any of my facebook applications. I have this problem on any computer I use to access my facebook account, but Facebook on my Blackberry seems to be working fine, except I only get email notifications, no facebook notifications, when there is activity. On my Blackberry, I can view all posts in the news feed, see online friends and chat. I am posting this here because after lots of searching in Facebook Help, I read that sometimes your mobile device can be the cause of your problems on your Facebook account online.  Has anyone ever experienced this or know if it is the cause of my headaches or how to fix it? I have cleared the cookies and history on my Blackberry. I have done battery pulls, log out of Facebook, everything short of deleting the application a reinstalling.   • Home link in upper left corner of Desktop Facebook site does NOT work. Will not go to Newsfeed

    Pressing the "Facebook" logo in top left corner will not work most of the time. The newsfeed does work..but let me explain this a little better. Say, I'm on a friends facebook page using the full site...I want to go to my newsfeed so I click the "Facebook" logo in the left hand corner next to the notification icons....poof....nothing happens, except, I notice the little padlock on the left side of the address bar disappear. I can let it sit and it will never do anything. If I press the facebook logo about 15 times, then it will finally load the newsfeed. It seems like some kind of issue going from secured to unsecured pages. It does not do this when I am in one of my groups though...odd. I have always had to use the addeess bar to go back to the newsfeed . This problem has existed through many versions of Firefox. No other browser does this.
