N8: Gmail mailbox doesn't work

Just got my new N8 and first things first, setting up the gmail account. However, when I add the "Gmail mailbox", during "Configuring mailbox" it says "Unable to connect with information provided. Try again". I have tried again, and again, and even verified multiple times through a browser that the information is correct. Doesn't work.
I have also tried adding a "Mail for Exchange account" as outlined somewhere on Gmail's help pages, which does show _one_ mail in the inbox but nothing more, and I cannot send mail or anything.
I'm starting to think the software is seriously broken, but please please, pretty please prove me wrong, and get me up and running with my gmail account.

Hi, please search the forum first, there are many topics regarding your problem, don't just start a new one thinking no one else thought about it. Anyways, yes there seems to be a problem with some handsets, I personally use the Googles Gmail app from their website. I suggest you do some more searching in the forum and find the other topics about this problem, thanks

  • Gmail app doesn't work for multiple accounts???

I just got an iphone5 and I'm super bummed to find out that the Gmail app does not allow you to switch between two accounts, as it does on my Android phone.
What do people use to get around this?

I had the same problem none of that works...
    This is what I did:
Using the adm profile, go to the windows folder, find the
regedit icon, open it, then scroll all the way down until you find
the shockwave files. Right click on each and the click on
permissions, give each user persmission and do it for all the
shockwave flash floders you see, it should be about 9.
    good luck.

Have a MacBook Air...was on the fritz. Took it to Genius Bar. Seemed the OS was corrupted, and they gave me a free upgrade to 10.6.8
    Nice.
Only problem is, am now having all sorts of trouble getting my Apple Mail 4.5 to work with Gmail POP. Some days are okay, but then for no reason it just stops downloading incoming...Can send. But receive just stops.
    Any suggestions?

Any developers follow this forum? Any in site? Want any troubleshooting on my end or extra info?
Looks like i'm not the only person with a problem.

  • Outlook 2007 - Automatic processing doesn't work unless logged in

    Hi guys,
I'm working with an equipment mailbox in an Exchange 2007 / Office 2007 and am having some difficulty getting it to work properly.
Basically, I've set the equipment mailbox up appropriately and have checked all three of the 'Resource Scheduling' tasks to automatically accept meeting requests and process cancellations as well as to decline conflicting and recurring meeting requests
As long as I am logged in 'as' the user account of the equipment mailbox (for example, 'PipetteBalance') meeting requests are processed automatically from my own account (and other users)
However, as soon as I log out of the PipetteBalance account the automation halts until I log back in to it again (and thus connect to Exchange via Outlook)
I've disabled cached exchange mode and have forced the 'AutoAccept' powershell cmdlet against the mailbox to no avail
Even adding the mailbox as a shared mailbox doesn't work. I have to log in as the account directly and have an 'active' connection with Exchange for the automation to work
This is the full list of properties set against the equipment mailbox:
    AutomateProcessing : AutoUpdate
    AllowConflicts : False
    BookingWindowInDays : 180

    ProcessExternalMeetingMessages : False
    DefaultReminderTime : 15

Is there something I may have overlooked or not set up properly?

    Hi,
Please try to use Windows Search to search for words or phrases that you expect to find in email messages. In this way, we can determine if Outlook data is being indexed.
If no results were returned, please try to search other files (not Outlook emails) with Windows Search to check if the Windows search feature is broken. If so, we can try to reinstall the Windows search feature to check if it helps. To do this, please follow:
    1. Go to Control Panel > Programs > Turn Windows features on or off.
    2. Untick "Windows Search".
    3. Press OK and wait until the installer is finished.
    4. Reboot your computer.
    5. Repeat steps 1-3 to enable it again.
    Hope this helps.

  • I seem to have multiple problems related or unrelated.  I cannot use Apple Mail for blueyonder and mostly for gmail as both show that the server is off line.  My pop up blocker doesn't work and I am blitzed with pop up windows on nearly every command

Firstly I am unable to use Apple mail except for hotmail, for blueyonder, gmail or Sky as the server shows as (off line) and I have no idea how to get them on line even though I tell them to go there.
My pop up blocker doesn't work and I am blitzed with advertising windows virtually on ever command I make, one seems to be impossible to unsubscribe from.
When I am in an email with a web link the web link doesn't work and I get a window saying that I must have a pop up blocker, but if I switch it off it is no different, what does work is switching the "enable Java script off", then when I get to the web site I can't use it until I switch the java script back on.
I can't do a screen shot either full or partial, when I try it changes the web site that is on screen to another.
So what have I done that might have caused problems, downloading Yosemite seemed to be the start of the problems.  Since then I have started to install Mackeeper, after checking with a family members who should know, that MacPaw is safe.  I decided that I didn't want to pay the subscription, so went through the uninstall instructions but it comes up as a pop up with considerable regularity.
My stress levels have gone through the roof with pop ups happening so regularly and not being able to use Apple mail.o can anyone help please?

  • Mail:  ANY doesn't work in smart mailboxes or rules?

I want to create a smart mailbox that will copy and archive  all messages to/from a particular recipient and e-mails to/from others about the subject of most of the conversation with that recipient.  I want the archiving to happen as they arrive in my inboxes and not automatically remove them from the servers--some I still need on the servers to access from multiple locations/machines.
But I can't even get to the archiving issue:  the smart mailbox that says 'contains ANY message' meeting these rules:
    contains recipient1
    contains subject2
always has fewer messages than one that simply 'contains recipient1' so the ANY condition, that in boolean terms should be an OR combination, appears to functionally act as an AND.
When I tried to create a smart mailbox folder to contain two mailboxes, one for contains name1 and one for contains subject2, each of which separately works fine, clicking the smart mailbox folder containing both leaves the window empty, so I can't see the messages name1 and subject2 interlaced in the date sent order or any other.  I just get one group or the other by clicking the submailboxes.
And trying to bypass the problem using rules doesn't work either--the 'any' command is as dysfunctional there as it is in the smart mailbox dialog.  I can manually search for the relevant terms (recipient1 and  subject2) and option+drag them to a mailbox for archiving, but this results in many duplications, especially if repeated over time, not a happy result.
Some searching here and googling suggests that the ANY command is problematic in this OS for a lot of people, but is there a known fix?  Or a better way to create a 'smart' archive to do what I want?

Okay, I think I understand better now.  So I just ran a test, by creating the following rule:
I specifically chose an address (obviously not the one shown) that I had a message from in my Inbox, and a word that was present in the subject line of several messages in my Inbox.  When I ran this rule on my Inbox, it copied exactly the messages I would have expected into the test mailbox.  Are you seeing different behavior with the same rule, or is your rule constructed differently?
If the difficulty is with running the rule, note that (as I said earlier) rules only run automatically on unread incoming messages.  It won't run automatically on existing messages or on messages on an IMAP mail server that you have read on another device using (in which case they will have been marked as read).  If you need to run this in such conditions, you'll have to either run the rule manually or run it via an AppleScript or something similar that is somehow (via something other than Mail) made to execute at certain times/intervals or under certain conditions.
And you're correct, a smart mailbox would be totally inappropriate for what you're trying to do!  It would behave exactly as you guessed.

  • New to Safari - GMail doesn't work?

I have always used Firefox on my Mac, but I decided to try Safari a little. I use Gmail religiously, but I noticed it only displays the "basic HTML" view in Safari. When I try to enable the "standard" view mode, it doesn't work.
I have tried searching the forums but haven't found any conclusive answers. Should I just stick with Firefox or Camino instead?

Is it possible that you have JavaScript turned off in Safari? That would do it, since Standard view for Gmail requires JavaScript.
If it's on, have you tried at different times of the day, since it could be an intermittent issue? Do youu get any error messages, or messages of any kind when it won't load Standard view? Post again with more details.

  • (unbelievable) gmail tasks (web app) doesn't work on 10.2.429 browser

Google provides Tasks as web app
    http://mail.google.com/mail/help/tasks/
here https://support.google.com/calendar/answer/128061?p=tasks&rd=1 they say to test if your device is xhtml compatible
to test if it is, they suggets to visit this link from the mobile device
    Minimum requirements
These are the minimum requirements to access Tasks for mobile web browsers:
Your browser needs to be XHTML compliant. To determine whether your browser is compatible, visit http://www.google.com/xhtml and perform a search. If it doesn't work, your browser may not be XHTML compliant.
OS 10.2 allows to browse http://www.google.com/xhtml and also to perform searches, but next it fails to parse/load the tasks page
    try it yourself http://gmail.com/tasks
is it google not-compliant or is it the BlackBerry OS 10.2 browser?
    Thank you
    Cor

Try to open the right-click context menu of the Back button and see if you can go back further.
The current active entry in that list has a bullet in front of it.
If you hover an entry in that session history list then it shows the direction by adding an arrow at the left.
You can left click an item to open it in the current tab or middle-click or Ctrl left-click an entry in that list to open that link in new tab, just like you can with other links.

  • Firefox from version 3.6 to 11 beta doesn't work properly with gmail

Gmail doesn't work properly with any version of firefox from 3.6 to 11. I have tried several newer versions of firefox and they ALL DO NOT WORK PROPERLY with GMAIL!!!!!! THIS IS VERY FRUSTRATING & ANNOYING!! I can't click on any links or it just keeps saying LOADING when I try to delete a message or even go into the gmail settings.

Try the Firefox SafeMode to see how it works there. <br />
    ''A troubleshooting mode, which disables most Add-ons.'' <br />
''(If you're not using it, switch to the Default Theme.)''
    * You can open the Firefox 4.0+ SafeMode by holding the '''Shft''' key when you use the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
    * Or use the Help menu item, click on '''Restart with Add-ons Disabled...''' while Firefox is running. <br />
''Don't select anything right now, just use "Continue in SafeMode."''
''To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before using the Firefox shortcut (without the Shft key) to open it again.''
'''''If it is good in the Firefox SafeMode''''', your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. <br />

  • Cross-mailbox conversation expansion doesn't work

In Mail for Mountain Lion, when a conversation has messages in different mailboxes, the gray box to expand/collapse the conversation doesn't work. The number of messages shown only reflects the ones in the Inbox (or active mailbox, probably; I've only tested Inbox). Is this intentional or a bug? If intentional, is there any way to configure the behavior differently, so expand/collapse works?

A little more color on this: If there are 2 or more messages in the active mailbox (and others in a different mailbox), the expand/collapse function works for the messages in the active mailbox. In the message column on the right, all the messages in the conversation are shown (both mailboxes). Only those messages in the active box are shown in the list column when the conversation is expanded. I can kind of see how this might be intentional, but it's strange to see lots of messages in the conversation in the right column, but only one or a few corresponding items in the messge list.

  • Gmail doesn't work in firefox; does work in internet explorer

    Windows 7 Home Premium SP1
    Firefox 27.0.1
    IE 11.0.9600.16428
my email account is with gmail.com
Everything works fine with IE; I connect to my gmail account and everything works normally.
When I use Firefox, I can login to my gmail account with no problem, but when I open an
email message, I see the message for 2 or 3 seconds, then I get dumped to a "re-enter your password" page. When I login again, I'm sent back to the same email message, I see it for 2 or 3 seconds, then it's back to the "re-enter your password" page. It doesn't matter which email message I try to view; works fine in IE, but "re-enter your password" in Firefox.

Does Gmail work better in a private browsing window? This is a test to see whether cookies are a factor. You can create a new private window by either:
    * Pressing Ctrl+Shift+p
    * orange Firefox button (or File menu) > New Private Window
More generally, when you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
    (1) Bypass Firefox's Cache
Use Ctrl+Shift+r to reload the page fresh from the server.
Alternately, you also can clear Firefox's cache completely using:
orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced
On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now"
If you have a large hard drive, this might take a few minutes.
    (2) Remove the site's cookies (save any pending work first). While viewing a page on the site, try either:
    * right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
    * Alt+t (open the classic Tools menu) > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
In the dialog that opens, you can remove the site's cookies individually.
Then try reloading the page. Does that help?
