N8: high definition video slowed when played on PC

Yesterday I shot a 1,5 min film in high definition with my N8 and that's the odd: when played by the N8 player itself it's  absolutely ok, when played by (after uploading to) my desktop's WMP, well has a correct audio but a slower than real  video, so the audio and the video soon become out of synch and the audio ends , of course, some seconds before the video.
Any  idea?

Ok, self-reply: it's my Desktop not able to play hd movies correctly. Actualy I tried on a fairly "old" Windows XP Pentium 4 desktop.
Played by mi new win 7 laptop it's ok...
@yunez: no, played by the phone itself the hd movies are smooth
As for youtube, I had youtube streams problem with the google youtube app (the stream was faster than the cache could ) till I set wi-fi power saving on off. Since then, it's all ok.

  • Why isn't my high definition video converting to standard definition?

What I'm describing here, I've successfully accomplished many, many times using Premiere Pro CS5 and now Premiere Pro CS6. Now, for the first time ever, it's not working and I'm completely baffled. (This is a high-end Windows 7 64-Bit machine with 16GB RAM running Premiere Pro CS6.)
Here's a basic summary of my workflow. Nothing out of the ordinary here.
    1. I shoot my video using a high definition camcorder (the same one I've been working with for the past year or two.
    2. I import my high definition video into a 1920x1080 sequence in Premiere Pro CS6.
    3. I edit my sequence until I'm happy.
    4. I enter and name my Encore chapter markers in the sequence.
    5. I create my Encore project and import the sequence as a timeline and set up my menus and such.
    6. I build my Encore project, first into a standard definition DVD image file (so I can later burn SD-DVDs) and then build it again into a high definition Blu-ray image file (so I can later burn Blu-rays).
The Blu-ray burn is turning out just fine.
But the video in the DVD burn is all black. I can jump around from chapter to chapter and I can hear the sound, but the video doesn't show up!
I tried this a couple times thinking that maybe Encore just messed up the SD-DVD creation process but I got the same result each time. When I preview the project in Encore, it all looks just right.
So I figured, okay, something's not working when I import the sequence.
I went back to Premiere Pro thinking I'd just export my 1920x1080 sequence into a widescreen standard definition AVI and create a new sequence just for the standard definition DVD.
The exported AVI is black as well!!
I don't get it. Why on earth won't my high definition video convert properly to standard definition?
The high definition sequence looks completely normal in Premiere Pro. What could I possibly be overlooking??
One final note. Just as another test, I copied and pasted the sequence in Premier Pro, truncated it to a couple minutes (the full sequence is 90 minutes long), and exported to a widescreen AVI again.
It just finished, I tried playing it back in Windows, and it, too, is all black, sound but no video.
Like I said, this is nothing new for me. I've done it countless times with other projects. I could really use some assistance with this one.

So I exported my completed high definition sequence to an MP4 and re-imported back into Premiere Pro. Right-clicked it and created a sequence from the clip. Then I imported my chapters from the old sequence into the new one.
I returned to Encore, modified my project to work off the newly created sequence (what a pain having to recreate all the scene links) and voila, it had no trouble making a DVD this time.
So I guess I'll get out of the bad habit of my old routine and create a sequence the "right" way from now on. Funny how we get used to doing something one way and stop thinking outside the box after a while.
Jim, I don't see how that's necessary. As long as I create an Encore project based on a good high definition sequence, I have never had to do anything other than have Encore build a standard definition DVD based on the high definition sequences. It has always done the conversion for me and produced really good DVDs. Once I create a DVD image that I'm satisfied with, I simply have Encore build a Blu-ray image using the exact same project, and that works perfectly as well. I suppose I may be missing something here but it all works and works well, so I don't see a reason to create two projects when one works well.
On a separate note, is it just me or doesn't everybody think it's high time that Adobe offer a feature to import markers from one sequence into another. I can do it automatically but I have to use a macro that I created separate and apart from Premiere Pro. For that matter, I think Encore should also offer a feature to remap all scene links to a new sequence instead of forcing me to fix them one by one myself.
Anyway, thanks to all of you for pointing me in the right direction!

  • High Definition Video playback in Keynote?

Can Keynote play back High Definition Video?
I'm not a video guy at all, so I'm not really sure of what precisely constitutes an "HD Video" file, but I do recall being given some Quicktime files a while back that were larger in file size, screen size and better resolution. These, I was told, were "HD."
Anyway, a client is asking if Keynote supports HD, and I'm at a loss...
    - Nolan

I ran into the same problem. I had some picturess that had great detail. I put them into iMovie to get the "Ken Burns" effect, but when I shared them and used them in KN the lost their detail. I called Apple and the tech told me how to get HD images into KN.
In iMovie there are many options as to size and resolution when you use share. I think that I have used HD images stright from Photoshop to KN also. Hope this might help, somewhat late.

  • No Application for High Definition Video?

    Hi Everyone,
Sorry for being in the wrong section, but I have a new camera with a high definition video and after importing the video I cannot play it as there is no application for it? The camera is a Panasonic Lumix. I have tried using VLC but to no avail.
    Many thank in advance!

  • Capturing High Definition Video

When importing high definition video into iMovie HD 6 the last 1.5 to 2 minutes of my movie were not captured. When importing HD video the capture speed is less than real time and thus the video that is running on the camera is ahead of what you see on the computer. I stopped the camera - NOT the import - at the point in time where the camera reached the end of the footage I wanted to import. At this point in time iMovie displays a message indicating that is continuing to cache (import) the rest of the movie - which it did. If you stop the the IMPORT - then my understanding is that the video captured will be essentially stopped at the point you see on the screen.
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks
    Kurt

Maybe you should try using the Scene-Detection Feature in imovie.

  • High Definition video requires 1GHz G4 or faster...

    iMovie HD 6.0.2 (267)
High Definition video requires 1GHz G4 or faster...
It was not evident that I could not use iMovie 6.0.2 on my TiBook. I don't care about HD, I just want to play around with iMovie. I've lost my initial Install disks after upgrading.
I purchased iLife to be able to just play with iMovie.
I can create a project and import video, not images...The buttons don't work. Pull down menus do. Can't drag clips to timeline...
    Did I just waste $80.00?
    867 MHz PowerPC G4 TiBook   Mac OS X (10.4.6)   1 MB L3 cache, 1 GB SDRAM

    Did I just waste $80.00?
    No, it's probably not wasted...
So while your Mac may not be able to edit HDV it can
edit the "normal" video recorded by most camcorders.
In other words, iMovie HD can do all the stuff old
versions do, but it can do HDV too.
I actually don't even have a camcorder. I just wanted to import .mov files, etc.
There might be some other problem. Here's some topics
    to look at:

  • Viewing High Definition Videos

    iMac 20 inch 2 GHZ
Is it worth paying extra to rent high definition videos vs. standard definition to view on my iMacs 20 inch screen. Is there a noticeable difference in viewing quality? I usually watch videos from about 8 feet away.

Thank you for taking the time to respond.
However, I did not mean to ask if the iMac was capable of playing high definition videos comfortably.
I meant to get opinions on whether high definition videos from iTunes are suppose to look noticeably better than standard definition videos on the iMacs 20 inch screen at a distance about 8 feet. I am thinking that the difference in quality is not noticeable because of the size of the screen and viewing distance.
I rented an HD version of the new James Bond flick and can't see much of a difference in quality between it and a standard definition video of The Office. I don't know if it is just because I am not a videophile or because of the size of the screen and viewing distance? I realize that tells me if it is worth paying extra, but I still would like to know your opinions on the difference in quality that you see.
    I apologize for the confusion.

  • Can now with imovie 1.2.2 and iOS5 edit 1080p high definition videos from DSLR cameras like the EOS 5D Mark II on ipad 2?

Can now with imovie 1.2.2 and iOS5 edit 1080p high definition video from DSLR cameras like the EOS 5D Mark II on ipad 2?.
That would be great, you would open the door to professional video editing ipad 2. Is there an accepted camera list?.

There does not appear to be a list yet.

  • High Definition Video on MacBook Pro 13.3"

Hey guys...can't seem to find the answer, despite my best efforts. Can my MB Pro (bought brand new a week ago) appropriately display High Definition Video? In all it's glory? I have a HD copy of the movie Up, and it looks gorgeous, but I haven't been able to find any documentation or reliable info that states without a doubt whether or not its a feature of the machine I bought. Thanks!

I understand the concept that the Macbook Pro's with anything less than the 17" screen cannot display the full HD screen. However what if in my case it is connected to an external monitor. Is there a way to display High Definition thru the laptop onto my 32" TV, or does this still require the use of the 17" MacBook Pro?

  • 720P 30 H.264 videos stutter when played back on Windows

720P 30 H.264 videos stutter when played back on Windows
I have an interesting problem that I am hoping someone can help me with.
I have several short videos (2-4 minutes) in 1080i HDV that I have edited in FCP. When output to 720P 30 H.264 in Compressor at either 10 or 6 MB they look just drop dead gorgeous when played back on either of my dual processor Macs.
However when played back on a Windows machine with QuickTime 7, they stutter to the point that playback locks up. This happens on 1.5 GHz to 3.2 GHz P4 class machines with 512 MB to 1 GB of RAM and 64 to 128 MB video cards. On the 3.2 GHz P4, the processor utilization peaks at 100%. The interesting thing is that all of these same Windows machines have no problem playing back 720p 24 trailers at 6 MB.
    Thanks all.

First a correction. I am using the latest version of FCP – 5.
Regarding the encoding, I have tried going from native HDV MPEG-2 to H.264 at 720P from 10 to 4 MB at 24, 30 and 29.97. The Mac seems to play everything back very well, but most PCs (the latest IBM T 40 – 43 series laptops) a couple of Dell desk tops (2.6 GHZ with 64 and 128 MB graphic cards) and a 3.2 GHz Shuttle PC with a 128 MB graphic card (that we routinely use to decode four MPEG-4, 4CIF images simultaneously and display on a 42” ED Plasma) choke/stutter to varying degrees with processor utilization hitting 100%.
So, the real issue here is what is the difference between a 720p trailer that I can download from Apple and what I can output using Compressor 2 at a similar data rate – other than the frame rate?
And why does the Compressor output stutter on most PCs?

  • Important quality loss in high definition video in Premiere

    Hello
I'm working in a series of high definition clips in Premiere CS4, and I noticed a great loss of quality of the videos after rendering, even without applying any filter or special effect.
All of the videos were captured from a Sony HD camcorder in M2T format through HDVSplit. The M2T videos are perfect, with clear and crystalline images, typical of a HD clip.
However, after rendering in Premiere using the MPEG2 Blu-Ray HDTV 1080i or HDTV 720p format with all of the settings in high quality, the resulting video is disappointing, in no way resembling a high definition video. The same occurs using H.264 Blu-ray format, also with all the settings in "high".
The quality of the video is well below the expected, both in 1080i and 720p.
I didn't use any filter in the edition, just trim, simple transitions and some legends. The resulting video shows a significant loss of quality and definition, which resembles more a trivial SD DVD than a video that was totally recorded in high definition.
I believe that it is a codec problem, but I would like to know if somebody already observed this issue, and if some special adjustment or setting exist that I'm missing.
    Any contribution is welcome
    Thanks
    Valter-Brazil

Do you mean rendering the timeline for playback, or rendering the video with a preset for output?  You can start by making sure the quality setting in the program monitor is set to highest quality, not draft, or automatic.  You can also check the Maximize Render Quality option.  See the following taken from Adobe's website:
    Maximum Render Quality option
You can improve rendering of motion, improve deinterlacing, and improve scaling of video. Select Maximum Render Quality in your sequence settings or Use Maximum Render Quality in your export settings.
If the resulting video from an export from Premiere is low in quality, then you need to adjust the bitrate settings, or resolution settings.

  • Will QT Pro Capture High Definition Video?

  • High definition video with Geforce FX 5200 ?

    hey guys,
can some body tell me if my MSI Geforce FX 5200 T128 is capable of high definition video e.g stretching small video window to full screen, in this mode you see bad video quality is there any solution ?

this is not a vga issue. if u get a video with 720x480 resolution and strength it, surely it will lose quality. for maximum resolution of windows, check the monitor and vga card´s manual for specifications.

  • Frame update rate slow when playing videos

I've noticed when playing vidoes, the video frames update at a slower pace to the point where it feels that movie is being played in slow motion. Sometimes this conditions stays longer other for few minutes. It does not make any differene if I am streaming or playing a movie stored on the HD (machine doesn't have CD drive).
I've ensure there are no other apps running that might seep power away from main processor/RAM or video processor. All the drivers are latest & greatest and I don't see any warnings anywhere in the system manager.
It has Win 8 and Intel HD Graphics 4000 with 1.6G of video RAM which seems decent enough to play a video file smoothly.  Any idea if it's a known issue, cause and solution?

  • Nokia 5800 Slower when playing music?

    Hi guys,
I'm sorry if someone already asked this question, but i have a problem with my phone when playing music.
The phone is slower , getting into menus is slower, and scrolling through lists is slow, and it's at least 50% slower compared to when music is not playing. If i press pause it's working OK then.
The firmware is v11.0.008 and i still cannot update to any version higher.
Is this the common problem or it's just my phone?
    Thanks, bye!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Your phone works much like a computer, and so it is possible that one constant activity like playing music may have an effect on other functions, though what you describe seems extreme.
It could be the case that you have quite a lot of files in phone memory that could be better transferred to memory card (images, music files, videos etc.) - if the phone memory is too full, this can affect the running of the phone just like when a Windows PC runs short of virtual memory.
