Nokia 5230 Gps problem

Hello guys, I've brought my Nokia 5230 recently and I've soon discovered a problem with the gps function. The problem is every time I tried to see where I'm or the gps function it takes ages and it still can't detect any gps signal, I've been to many places, home, library, in my car moving through town and really it don't pick up any signals. Does it matter if I don't use internet at all? And are there settings that I have to follow? Thanks in advance.

Sounds as if you are not utilizing the Assisted GPS feature which requires a network access point. Whereas you can set OVI Maps to "Offline" if regional maps downloaded, if you just rely on Integrated GPS reception will be quite poor. You need to check in Menu > Applications > Location > Positioning > Positioning server > Access point and also in Menu > Settings > Connectivity > Destinations - that WAP access point has not ended up in "Uncategorized" folder where not utilized.

Nokia X6 Integrated GPS

Does anyone succeed in getting Integrated GPS working on X6 purchased from Syria??? I tried many methods without success, i cannot see the Integrated GPS or Assisted GPS in the repositioning method

Now i'm lost many posts on the net claim that Nokia would not remove any hardware (including GPS) and they would only disable any feature by firmware. Hence, i changed my phone product code to a UAE and many others including EUROPE and flushed it with latest firmware 21.0.0.4 but still cannot see GPS option in Repositioning methods.
I'm looking for a confirmative answer that NO GPS MODULE IS ISTALLED IN PHONES SOLD IN SYRIA or a working solution for my challanging problem
I did contact Nokia in North American and once they knew my phone from Syria that was not able to help me anymore ( souded very scary too them to just confirm if GPS module is there or not!)

E66 GPS problem after firmware upgrade to v.500

hi there, sorry but im going crazy with this problem....
id like to know who has a nokia e66, performed the v.500 upgrade and has GPS that doesn't work anymore after doing the upgrade, am i the only one?? what did the new upgrade changed? how to fix this??? i did all i could think of.. format memory card, reset phone, reinstall firmware etc etc. before upgrade it was working like a charm, getting signal fast and all. tried to enable and disable a-positioning, etc etc, resetted, removed battery etc etc.... and i upgraded the firmware with Nokia Ovi Suite for the note.. so the "good" stuff.

Presumably you have this version of Ovi Maps installed upon your E66:http://europe.nokia.com/support/product-support/maps-support/compatibility-and-download#/nokia-e66/
If you go to Menu > Tools > Settings > General > Positioning > Positioning methods - try temporarily disabling all except Integrated GPS, go outside away from tall buildings if feasible launch Ovi Maps and wait 20 - 30 minutes for first positional fix to be established.

6110N GPS Problem/malfunction

Hello, I m seeking help from anyone. I own my 6110N for 6 months already and it was find before. Last 3 weeks, my navigation suddenly did not work..... "No positioning methods available". I have called malaysian nokia centre and they have proposed me so many ways and i tried, my navigation still not ok. It keeps searching for GPS not searching for satellite. From my understanding, look like there is no gps receiver/unit on my phone. I have sent my phone to one of the nokia care centre here in malaysia and they hold it for three weeks. They did replace the module unit and antenna, but my phone still did not work.
currently, my phone is with onother nokia care centre and today they called me telling me they still haven't resolved the problem.
Is anyone face this problem? I really need help on this...

The phone DOES have a built-in receiver.
First line of defence is to go Menu>Tools>Settings>General>Positioning and make sure that at least "Integrated GPS" is switched on.
If this is OK, then you might assume a software fault and update the software using Software Updater; otherwise it could be the GPS hardware not working.

It's interesting the disappointed user of n8 got his/her device changed and the new N8 works perfect. GPS signal 100% indoor. I have tested my C5-00 inside and outside it's pretty slow and hardly never receives any signal from satellites indoors. The navigation sub-forum could be a proper place for discussing about the different phone models and the GPS.

In the attached thread the poster did not mention that he gets 100% GPS Signal Indoor with Integrated GPS. With only the Integrated GPS Positioning method enabled.. you must be in an area open to sky. The GPS Fix (Initial positioning) may take in excess of 30 minutes, depending on the Topography of the location and the weather. Area with tall building, trees and Rainy, Cloudy weather means a much longer wait. ..but once you get the Fix, there should not be any problem in Navigation..

N86 GPS problem

I have a problem with GPS on Nokia N86:
It has a huge problem to get a connection with sattelities. It is not a Ovi Maps fault because I have checked it with other applications. Even if it connect with sattelites, it works inaccurately and keeps breaking the conection. The software is up to date. It made a test with Nokia LD-3W via bluetooth and it works perfect. Is it possible that integrated GPS is broken? Does anybody knows the solution?

I also got a N86 a few days ago and well, I also have that GPS problem.
The strange thing is, I installed Sygic 7.x and he navigation was working without problems, 3 times no problem to get a quick gps fix.
But as for me Sygic is **bleep** I decided to switch over to Garmin Mobile XT which I liked on the 5800.
From that time I experiance problems with a gps fiy, sometimes it works within a minute, sometimes I wait 30 minutes without any fix.
During that time I'm outside and A-GPS is switched on.
It's the same if I just try the Nokia tools like OVI-Maps, or just GPS informations.....no fix, so it's not a Garmin problem.
I'm not sure if that is an issue which will be fixed with a firmware update, but I hope so very much!
I'm thinking of getting it to a Nokia Service point to complain about it....will see...
As far it does not look like anybody has a solution for that problem....damnit

GPS Problems after update to 50.0.005

Hi,
after having updated to 50.0.005 I have problems using Ovi Maps and other GPS related apps. It takes a very long time for my Nokia 5800 XM to log into the satellites.
Having opened the satellite status, I can see up to 9 satellites but the mobile won't log them. Sometimes it needs up to 30 minutes, sometimes it doesn't work at all.
Before that my mobile needed approx. 30 sec. to get the signal and start working.
Anybody else having the same probs?

<Do you have 3.03 installed on v40? Check your installed apps if the 3.03 Ovi maps is still installed. If it is, remove it. Ovi 3.03 is integrated in the firmware of v50, and if it is still installed on your C drive, then you have a double installation of 3.03 which is probably causing the problem>
i do agree with chanchan statement..at 1st place i did install ovi maps 3.03 in my nokia 5800 v50..yes it caused problem to gps positioning..i've tried to reset my phone n my gps positioning back to work..but unfortunately after sometime my ovi maps doesn't work at all after gained liittle hope of reseting my phone..it fails to detect satellite again..it always ask for connection..as i know, the new version of ovi maps navigation is free of charge..
my positioning method are:
Assisted GPS (ticked)
integrated GPS (ticked)
bluetooth GPS (unticked)
Network based (unticked)
can someone help me with this god damn bug..im so frustrated..

LG Ally text message and gps problems

hello. ive been with verizon for about 10 years maybe. ive been overall happy with the service and customer service. but the prices should be alot lower.lol. i started out with the motorolas then switched to the lg phones. only problem with the motorola was the speakers. not loud enough. could never hear the phone ring. the lgs usually suffer from the same problem.
i had a few phone problems but nothing like this lg ally. im on my second one and about to be my 3rd one in about 3 months. 1st phone i had every problem under the sun. this phone i am suffering from text message problems and gps problems. i suffer from what everyone else has problems with. the messages wont send. they will eventually lock up. it will show the envelope with the red explanation point ( i think thats the graphic). then usually everytime when i sent a text the texts will close. it will send then bounce back and show up as a draft and i have to resend it and wait for it to go thru. finally the last problem with the texts. when i send a text a phone number from my contacts shows up and freezes on the screen. its in white text with a black background. its the same number every time. it stays on the screen until i restart or pull my battery out.
gps. when i open up google gps that comes with the phone i make sure the gps is on... when the directions are found and the map pops up 9 out of 10 times it just keeps saying searching for gps. the turn by turn never is found. the 1 time it does it takes a good 10 minutes to be found. atleast on my first one ally the gps did work 8 out of 10 times. it just took a good 5-10 minutes for gps to be found and show turn by turn.
anyone else have these problems? where you able to fix them or did you need to get a new phone? the 2.1 update was supposed to fix problems. i think they just made it worse. the ally is supposed to have 2.2 froyo. where is it. is it ever going to get it. i got this phone because i like the lgs and the keyboard. also the sales representative on the phone was giving the lg ally rave reviews. why couldnt he say dont buy this go with a motorola droid. this phone is the biggest junk ever made

I do apologize you are having trouble with your device I looked in our information system on the LG Ally in reguards to issues you are having it states if you have the Free Droid Security anti virus protection application down loaded it will cause the phone to lock up or freeze. Check and make sure you do not have the application on your device. Check you GPS settings and make sure correct. Go to Settings; Location & Security; make sure GPS is on wireless network. If this does not fix issue you can try doing a Master Reset on your device. Make sure your contacts are saved in your G-mail account or through Back Up Assistance.
Master Reset/Soft Reset:
Factory Reset option 1
From the main screen, touch menu tab
Touch Settings
Touch Privacy
Touch Factory Data reset
Touch Reset Phone
Warning: This will erase all data from your phone, including:
Your Google account
System and application data and settings
Downloaded Applications
It will not erase: Current System software and bundled applications; SD Card files, such as music or Photos
Factory Reset option 2 - Warning this will reset device back to original factory settings.
Turn off the phone
Press and hold "home" + "end" + "volume up or down" keys together for a few seconds when the device is power off
Once device displays boot information, release keys.
Soft Reset
Press the Power key.
Touch Power off.
Touch OK.
Press the Power key to power on the device.
or
Remove battery cover, remove battery and reinstall.Also there is a new update for LG Ally it will be the Froyo 2.2 but there is not release date available at this time it will post on your device when available. Hope this Helps. Leslie

GPS problem (?) in new iPad wifi?

If I open Map app, iPad can show me my location... but it seems that the gps won't refresh itself. When I am moving around by car.... the gps will only show me the location where i open the map app and stays there and wont follow my moving car, until I re-launch the map app.
Is it a gps problem or does it the way wifi iPad work? Because I used to have an iPad (1st gen) wifi+3g and the map+gps worked fine.

GPS problem with 3GS

Dont know what's wrong with my GPS service. I can use the "map" app. But when i use "Navigon", it shows that "no GPS service found". I used Navigon before, and it worked perfectly. My friend also has 3GS and the same app. No any GPS problem. I tried to download and install again, but it still doesnt work. Also tried restarting iphone. >.<
Can someone help me? Does anyone know what the problem could be?

Apple announced no such problem because there was and is no such problem. This would mean every single 3GS has a GPS problem or failure. Hogwash.
The GPS receiver on your 3GS may have a problem. Hardware can and does fail.

Not sure if it is fixed.. or can be fixed.. we are still in 47 & Use custom code to account for Dynamic Actions.. the PCR processes use the function module HR_MAINTAIN_MASTERDATA to update the infotypes. This function mimics a BDC & hence cannot handle Dynamic Actions... Basically, the issue is not with MSS but it is the way Dynamic Actions work.. to quote SAP "Dynamic actions are not correctly processed in batch input sessions since in batch input the sequence of the screens needs to be predefined correctly. To be able to process dynamic actions in batch input, the checks of the dynamic actions need to be programmed when creating the batch input session. To avoid errors when programming and running the session, the static actions only are processed in batch input. Calls of infotypes that are triggered by dynamic actions should be realized by separate Transaction calls.

N8 integrated GPS not working ANNA

Hi,
Integrated GPS is not working on my New N8 with anna. I tried Hard rest and even Google maps. OVI works with A-gps but position is highly inaccurate. I can see a notification which says GPS available but no satellites are locked. Confirmed this with Google maps. Is this a hardware issue?

Sounds like a dud antenna but...
If it was working before Anna then check your Positioning Settings under Settings/Application Settings/Positioning especially check that the Positioning server is set to supl.nokia.com
Have you tried the Battery Out Reset (Power off the hold power button for about 8 seconds until you feel three vibrations)
Try re-installing Anna using Ovi Suite or Nokia Software Updater.
Note: if your in an area with no Internet connection it may take 20 minutes or more to get an initial fix and it's best to be stationary while its doing it.

X6 GPS Problem

I cannot get the GPS to reliably work on my X6.
I goto >applications>location>GPS data>Position.
I mainly get 'waiting for GPS' although I have had a connection on a couple of occasions. These did not last long though.
Using options I have selected 'satellite status' I rarely get signals, but do get some signals at times.
Going to >applications>location>positioning>positioning methods
I have the following ticked:
Assisted GPS
Integrated GPS
Network Based
Wi-Fi/Network (a new option appeared when checking to write this post)
Bluetooth not checked
I have OVI Maps installed.
Previously v3.03 but as this was not getting a connection, I have installed v3.04 beta.
I have only managed to get a connection for my location once, then lost connection.
Seems to me that this technology on the X6 is useless, I was led to believe the phone has GPS and OVI maps are now free in the O2 shop, gave me the impression it would simply work!
Anyone out there know of an X6 that has working reliable GPS and OVI maps?

There are many people on the GPS section whose X6 had been made to work well. However yours seem to be a hardware issue if you keep losing signals, unless you are indoors when you lose signals. Physical barriers like walls and roofs would obviously block the signals.
Have your phone checked at a Nokia Care Center.
