N8 Internet Radio no scrolling text since Belle up...

Since I have updated my N8 to Nokia Belle (v.111.030.0609) the scrolling information text no longer functions in Nokia Internet Radio v.3.05(0). It scrolled song titles etc on each station screen and within the widget. I have tried deleting and reinstalling the app but still no scrolling text.
Any advice of how to solve the problem of the missing text would be very much appreciated.
Thanks.

Hi Guys,
Funny AND very revealing of the current change of politics in Nokia:
Yesterday I wanted to find a safe way, using small roads therefore,  to commute to work by bike, using NOKIA Maps on my N8 running Belle. I thought I’d use waypoints on the route to make it easy to choose small auxiliary roads. And oooooh surprise ! a bad surprise : the route points feature has disappeared ! then I look deeper and the useful weather, or Michelin, travel advisor widgets have disappeared too !
So my question, more general than just specific points i.e route points in maps or Artists name in Internet Radio, Is Mr Nokia making a fool of their users by providing a shinny brand new system, Symbian Belle, but with a decreasing software quality ???!!!
I will place an enquiry on that to the Dev team of Maps too, but I’m seriously upset, I just invested in a new Nokia not because they are sooo much better but because I believe in Made in Finland == made in Europe (minimum relocation) + free software politics unlike apple ie Nokia maps etc…
But seriously now, Im just tempted to selle my Nokia and buy an Android phone on which I’ll buy a proper GPS or use a free one.
Last but Not least I tried installing Google Maps (latest version 4.1.1) that crashed at every attempts after about 2 seconds running… Utterly upsetting !
Is Symbian Belle so good then ????
Route points did get removed (for whatever reason) in maps 3.08, but has been reintroduced in the current Beta version which is available at http://betalabs.nokia.com/apps/nokia-maps-suite, which also includes the guides. Also available is a homescreen weather widget at http://betalabs.nokia.com/apps/weather-widget (you would need maps suite 2 installed first). My experience of these Beta apps is that they are stable but it's up to you whether you choose to install or wait until they complete testing and get released.
There does seem to be an issue with Google maps, in that WiFi must be enabled even if not connected in order for it to run. Hopefully Google will release an update.
I'm also considering getting rid of my N8, but only because the 808 looks so good. Belle may not be perfect, but if there was a way to hack my android tablet in order to get belle running on it, I would do so

  • I have not deleted ANY texts since I got my phone and Ihave not synched.  I just can't scroll back in a thread to older texts.  How can I get back to read those?

I have not deleted ANY texts since i got my phone 10 weeks ago.   Nor have I syched.  How can I go back to earlier texts in a thread to see them again?

I've found that the easiest way to view old texts is by archiving them to my computer using a program such as PhoneView (Mac) or TouchCopy (Mac or PC). I generally save important threads to a .pdf for future reference.

  • All of a sudden my iTunes 10.1.1.4 will not connect to internet radio

    Hi all,
All of a sudden yesterday, my iTunes 10.1.1.4 will not connect to internet radio. It has otherwise been working fine for almost two years.
My internet connection is working fine for web browsing and email.
I ran the iTunes diagnositcs and it showed me how to go in to the Windows Firewall settings to check to see if there was a connection... there was already one for iTunes in the list of accepted connections. Just to be sure, I created a new iTunes connection exception and it didn't help.
The iTunes diagnostics test shows all information as being normal except this info, pasted in below, about the Firewall test...
    Firewall Information
    Windows Firewall is on.
iTunes is NOT enabled in Windows Firewall.
Connection attempt to Apple web site was successful.
Connection attempt to browsing iTunes Store was successful.
Connection attempt to purchasing from iTunes Store was successful.
Connection attempt to iPhone activation server was successful.
Connection attempt to firmware update server was unsuccessful.
    The network connection timed out.
But this information is partially incorrect, according to the Windows Firewall settings themselves.  My Windows Firewall settings show that iTunes is indeed enabled in Windows Firewall.
I can access the iTunes store, but there doesn't seem to be any test in the iTunes diagnostics that makes it test to see if it is connecting to the iTunes internet radio server.
Is there possibley a current problem happening with the iTunes internet radio connection?
    Thanks for any suggestions.

    Hi movem,
Are you saying that Apple has changed the URL for every internet radio station in the entire iTunes radio station library?... or are you suggesting that just some of the internet radio stations in my playlist changed their own URLs?
It seems unlikely that it happens to be that every single internet radio station in my playlist of a hundred radio stations all happened to change thier URLs at the same time, since all of the stations in my playlist will not play from that playlist.
When I went through and found some of the radio stations in the giant default internet radio station library in iTunes, I found some of my old ones that were in my playlist and they play fine and they can be put in to a new playlist and they play fine there too, but the very same stations still will not play from my old original playlist.
So it makes sense if you are saying that Apple has somehow changes all the URLs for all the radio stations in iTunes, because that make sense since they all play from the main radio library.
But, otherwise, to say that all the radio stations in my playlist happened to change their own URLs at the same time, that would be a bit far fetched.
Did you get some news from Apple that this happened, one way or the other?
PS: I'm having a hard time finding a few of the stations that were in my previous, original playlist as well... some of them have either disappeared, changed categories, gone off the air or changed their names.
    Thanks,
    numetro

  • I upgraded to iTunes 12, and promptly lost my internet radio playlists. How can I recompile my Internet Radio playlist in iTunes 12?

I've been eyeballing iTunes 12 and not enjoying it. I didn't much like the original upgrade to iTunes 11, but at least I kept my beloved Internet radio station playlists.
After upgrading iTunes to the latest version, not only is the interface once again all screwed up from the previous version (LITTLE changes, people. Not BIG changes) now I can't find how to create a playlist of my most commonly listened-to radio stations.
This is kind of a deal-killer for me with iTunes, because when I'm taking care of kiddos, I can't stand to hear the same songs over and over and over again - it's far easier for me to plug in the station list and select from the list of my favorites (much like having my radio station presets in the car when we're driving) instead of scrolling through everything.
So, does anyone know if this functionality (adding Internet Radio Stations to a playlist) is gone forever, or is this yet another Apple "upgrade" like the iPhone 4 and its "wonderful" new phone antenna?
Seriously, it's like the product management group of the software just decided that convenience wasn't healthy for its users and went right to removing long-time functionality that was the only real reason I kept iTunes around instead of another music content management system like MediaMonkey or WinAmp.

Click on a station and drag to the left. The playlists sidebar will open up. Drop on the playlist you want to add to.

  • Nokia Internet Radio Error: Connection Timed Out. ...

    Hi,
I'm having an issue with the Nokia Internet Radio application on the Nokia N95. The app launches ok but if I try and browse the station directory or perform a search I get the error 'Connection Timed Out. Try Again' This happens almost instantly i.e. it doesn't look like it's even trying to connect. If I go to the shoutcast site and click on the 'Tune In' button next to a station the Internet radio app launches and I get an error saying 'General: System Error' and the application closes then goes back to the browser and a message saying 'Web: No Gateway Reply' The application worked fine up until recently. I upgraded to FW V 21.0.016 and hasn't worked since so it may be that this has caused the problem. I've removed and re-downloaded \ re-installed the software but still get the same issue. Web browsing works fine, so I know my internet settings are fine, and the old open-source version of the radio player even works so it's just an issue with this app. Any advice on how to fix it would be much appreciated. Thanks.

I had the same problem and I fixed it.  For me, it was because I am on the Rogers network in Canada.  Regardless of where you are many cellular neworks use firewalls and something called NAT (Network Address Translation).  Nokia should really make people aware of this because probably 50% of people around the world have this problem.  The solution for me was to use Rogers VPN or Public IP to access the internet.  Rogers blocks access to this internet connection so you have to add the service to your account for $10 per month but I have heard that other carriers like FIDO have not blocked access to it.
On the Nokia n79 this requires creating a new access point under TOOLS>SETTINGS>CONNECTIONS>DESTINATIONS.  Add a new access point with the following settings:
Connection Name: Rogers VPN (or whatever you want to call it)
    Data Bearer: Packet Data
    Access Point Name: vpn.com
    User Name: wapuser1
    Prompt Password: No
    Password: wapuser
    Authenticaiton: Normal
    Homepage: None
Use Access Point: After Confirmation (or change if you want something else)
That's it. When you load the internet radio Application and it lists your options select "Rogers VPN".  If you don't see it in the list, press the soft button for Options then "Select Access Point" and you will see the full list.  If you want the VPN to be the first thing you see you can change the priority under destination settings.  Just select the VPN and press "Organize" then "Change priority".

  • How do I create dynamic scrolling text in Flash CS5?

    Hi everyone,
I am a complete newbie to Flash. I'm tyring to build a scrolling text box that automatically scrolls. On mouse over, I want the scrolling to stop so users can click on an item in the text box. All of the items will be tied to external hyperlinks. I want to populate the text box with an external file. I've done some searches on Adobe, but haven't found anything that takes me through the whole process.
I have the complete Adobe Master Collection. So if this is easier in Flash Catalyst, let me know. I know how to buid a manual scroll box in Flash Catalyst. Could I export this to and add the auto-scrolling?
    Remember, I'm a complete newbie.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

    Thanks again Kglad,
I really have no preference of Action Script since I don't have any significant experience with either one.
I'll keep doing searches to see if I can get the information I need.
    Have a great holiday.

  • Is it possible to have a scrolling text field in a quiz slide?

I'm trying to build a quiz, and there is too much text that I need to display for the question. Is there any way to implement a scroll-able text field in a quiz slide?

I suppose you don't want to use the default question slides but are creating custom question slides? Which version do you use? Since CP7 there is a Scrolling Text Interaction that you could use, compatible with both SWF and  HTML output.

  • Help finding Mac screensaver with scrolling text (Windows Marquee-esque)

I have been searching the internet somewhat intensely for a scrolling text screensaver for my Macbook. I found an Apple download called "message", but that is wayyy too fancy for me. I can barely even see the text with all of the crazy fonts and weird zooming. The emphasis is not on the text for that screensaver.
Something like the Windows Marquee would be fine, though I am sure somewhere out there is a tricked-out version for Mac. I would just want to be able to read the text clearly, as I intend to use the screensaver to help me to memorize some text.
Maybe I am overlooking an obvious screensaver already loaded on the Macbook, but I am surprised that Tiger does not come with such a screensaver. Any suggestions and links? Thank you

I think you should be able to find something that works for you using Quartz Composer. As an example, here is a link to someone else that was working on horizontal scrolling text. I don't know if their project got completed (or if it's currently included in Quartz Composer) but the .qtz file on this page will load in QuickTime so you can see the results as of this posting.
    http://www.mulle-kybernetik.com/weblog/2005/05/towardshorizontal_scrollingi.html
You get Quartz Composer by downloading the Xcode tools. I'm looking through the example libraries now to see if there's something you could use in the current examples.

  • Horizontal Scroll Text

I found a cool new font and would like to scroll text like a
news ticker. I have created my dynamic text box, set it up the way
i want the text to look, and set it to scroll. I know how to write
the code for a vertical scroll, how would i set it up to scroll
    horizontally?
the text in the text box wants to set itself up as vertical
lines instead of horizontally as well. How can i change that?
    Thanks for the help.
    Josh

Here's some code for a horizontal text scroller I just threw
    together.
    horizontal_txt.autoSize = "left";
horizontal_txt.text = "Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of
    the printing and
typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry's
    standard dummy
text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a
    galley of type and
scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived
    not only five
centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting,
    remaining
    essentially unchanged.";
    var intervalId:Number;
    function scrollMe():Void {
    horizontal_txt._x -=20;
    if (horizontal_txt._x <= -horizontal_txt.textWidth) {
    horizontal_txt._x = 550;
    intervalId = setInterval(this, "scrollMe", 100);
Basically, I'm just moving the text box -20 pixels in the _x
    position each
time the function is called (you can mask it if you'd like).
Once it determines that the inverse of the width of the text
    in the textbox
is less than or equal to it's _x position, it resets the
    textbox back to the
right edge of the play area.
To test, just make a dynamic, single line textbox named
    horizontal_txt and
place it at 550 on the stage.
You could get more sophisticated and have an array of news
    that it cycles
through, and have it pause if the mouse of over, etc. I'm
    sure you've seen
    those things before.
Anyway...let me know if you have any problems implementing.

  • Green shadows when scrolling text after calibration

Hello, I'm having strange screen behavior after calibrating it (I'm using Spyder 3 hardware with both its own software and ColorEyes DisplayPro).
What happens is that when the screen is correctly calibrated I get annoying green shadows when I'm scrolling text. This actually happens whenever there's a "moving-high contrast" situation (for example, if i'm opening a folder and screen pixels change luminance quickly) and of course in a multitude of different applications.
I also uploaded a video to youtube to show the situation.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oaNF4i0djFM&feature=youtu.be
As you may notice, when I choose the standard color profile (uncalibrated) the behavior disappears (0:32 in the video). When I revert to the calibrated profile it comes back.
I think something might be wrong with my screen (which, by the way, is out of its applecare warranty since two weeks ago...).

Does this still happen if you run Firefox in Safe Mode?
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window or otherwise make changes.

  • Is there a way to access internet radio streams using "Remote"?

    Hi all,
I just installed Apple Remote from the apps store and really enjoy it! The only thing that is missing is that I can't find the list of internet radio stations as listed on iTunes.
I really enjoy listening to a few streams so if anyone knows where this is in the app (if it exists), please let me know! Otherwise, a great app especially with Airport Express!
    Thanks, Dan

The Remote app accesses the iTunes Library contents - since streams are not really "in" your library (they're links, really), it makes sense that you cannot access them.
But, you can submit feedback to Apple: http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html.

  • Pan & Zoom option in Overlay Creator disabled/grayed out when trying to create scrolling text

    Hi all,
I'm trying to create a scrolling text frame using the Paste Into method. I've created a long text frame, cut it, pasted into another frame. When I go to the Overlay Creator and click Pan & Zoom, it tells me to select a cropped image. I've tried an identical work flow on another computer and it works fine - the pan only radio button is available.
I've reinstalled the CS5 extensions, restarted my Mac and I can't resolve the issue. I only downloaded the extension tools last week, so I'd hope they aren't too out of date now. The About screen tells me I'm on 11.4.2.20111116_m_671500 7.0.3.13
    Any help appreciated.
    Adam

The best place to get the new builds is the DPS Dashboard (https://digitalpublishing.acrobat.com). You can also view the detailed help topic about installing:

If you install the Folio Producer tools and then the Folio Builder panel, you should be able to sign in just fine. Let  us know if you still get the error.

  • ITunes not recognise iPod if playing Internet Radio

Anyone had this since iTunes 6.0.5 update and also the iPod update last week. If have Internet radio playing in iTunes and you connect your iPod the Mac recognises it, however iTunes doesn't see it. I know this used to work as I pretty much always have a net radio station of some sort playing when on my Mac.
I would submit it as a Bug but no idea if you can.

Appears to be fixed in recent versions
