N8 MAIL WIDGETS FOR HOME SCREEN

I was sent a N8 to trial by Nokia a while ago and loved it so much got one on my 3 contract.
However.......
On the original one when I wanted to add my individual e-mail accounts to a home screen I could do this. So it showed my blueyonder/yahoo/ovi mail all in seperate windows/widgets.
However now when I try to do the same I just get the "new mailbox" widget/icon.
When I go to settings, it then lists the mail accouns I have....but when I click on one of them, it just leaves the widget/icon the same "new mailbox"
Anyone any ideas at all?

If you have already set up email, you should be able to add it to the home screen in the following way:
long press empty slot on home screen
select "+"
select Mail in the widget list
in "Select mailbox" view tap the mailbox which you want to add
select Done
If you just see the email setup wizard in the home screen widget, it may be that there's not yet an email mailbox properly defined.

This so called feature is not available after updating so a hard reset is required for it to be seen which i did do.
I then restored a back up and it disappeared.I then tried 2 back up's, one with settings and one without and it still wasn't anywhere to be seen.
So, if you really really really want E-mail notification on Home Screen then you'll have to start the phone from scratch, excellent work there Nokia.....why implement a feature that disappears after restoring a back up from your own software (PC suite)!

For all of you who consider hard resetting the phone and starting it from scratch, so that the email notification on the homescreen appears: it works just fine, even if you use the Nokia Email instead of the built in email client!

You need to connect to iTunes and restore the iPhone to remove the passcode...then from a recent backup restore the content.

After minimizing it takes up to 5 seconds for home screen to load

Galaxy S3, Android 4.3: After minimizing, it takes up to 5 seconds for the home screen to load. The screen is empty, without icons or widgets (not black - just completely empty). Seems to be Firefox specific: Chrome and other applications are not affected by this. Highly annoying. Can this be fixed?

I have an HTC Gingerbread device, and it has a problem with several different programs that if you use the Back button to exit Firefox and some other apps to the home screen, it crashes (white screen with HTC logo) and needs several seconds to rebuild. In my case, this seems to start at some point in a session, and then continues until I restart the device.
So I don't think this is necessarily specific to your build of Android or the Samsung shell. I'm not sure what causes it. Since you have a popular device, you might check a forum like the following to see whether anyone has more insight there:

I can't turn on Mail in Settings. Earlier i tried to e-mail a document from the GoodReader app through my Gmail account. Apparently, my iPad2 didn't like that. Also, now when i click on Mail on the Home screen, the Mail screen shows no mailboxes.

Start off by trying to reset the ipad. Press and hold the power and home buttons at the same time until the device powers down and you see the Apple logo.

1.1.3 Google Mobile icon for home screen

It seems Google was ahead of the curve on this one. If you add Google Mobile to your home screen it gives you a nice crisp little Google icon. With any other site you just get a section of the page as your icon (zooming in on a logo helps). As soon as I noticed this I decided to add Apple to my home screen. Guess what, no custom icon. What gives? You'd think Apple would be the first kid on the block with a custom icon.

As for why Apple didn't (just my guess). Apple made the web clip icon show what you zoomed in on for that page. Now when they explained web clips, the mentioned a person may want a icon for the Style section of a newspaper site. Now if I created a web clip and zoomed in on the Style title, I would get a nice icon with "Style" showing. Then lets say I wanted a icon for the Sports page. I repeat but zoom in on Sports. Now I have two icons (same site) but icons look different based on my needs and what I want to see. So in short, gives the user control. Now for sites that are going to override the icon, they can if they wish but that will take away from the users customization of thier phone but will give good branding of the site.
So each has it's place. For Apple, since they made it to allow customization for the user it makes more sense (IMHO) for them to leave it up to the user rather than force an icon on them.

Adding website for home screen broken

Seen a couple people complain about this so I know it's not just me. Adding a website to the home screen no longer works. The message that the link has been created pops up but it never actually does it. It worked previously as I still have 2 old links on my home screen. One person said it was restoring a backup that did it. He then reloaded BlackBerry 10 without restoring his backup and voila it works. I'd really like to not have to do that though! Took a long time to download the apps I have, organize home screen, etc etc. Figure this one out please BlackBerry. It should be an easy fix! Very annoying that this simple feature is not working.

Orientation is locked in landscape except for home screen

- Remember that photos, webpages, and applications will not change viewing-orientation modes when iPhone is lying flat. Hold iPhone vertically to switch between portrait and landscape modes or vice versa.
- Verify that rotation lock is not on.
- To test, open the Calculator application while holding the iPhone vertically (portrait mode). The standard calculator should appear. Then rotate the iPhone to a horizontal position (landscape mode), and the scientific calculator should appear.
Note: Certain apps and features may support only one mode, landscape or portrait. For example, the Videos app plays video in landscape mode, and Reminders uses only portrait mode. Not all applications on iPhone use landscape mode.

Landscape mode for home screen / iPhone 6 non-plussed

I recently switched from my dear old Samsung Galaxy S3 Android phone to an iPhone 6. Overall, the experience is fantastic. But one of the Android features I miss most is a surprisingly cosmetic one: the ability for the home screen to render as landscape mode.
I'd actually jailbreak my iPhone just for this one minor feature, but for various reasons, I'd prefer to not jailbreak. Nor am I going to pay for an iPhone 6 Plus for this feature--I actually like holding the smaller phone, but I want the home screen to be able to rotate nonetheless.
What's the best way to politely petition Apple to backport this feature from iPhone 6 Plus to iPhone 6?

Will Apple ever allow customized fonts and sizes for home screen?

6 Plus 64 GB. Over all love it, but the top "bar" displays are freakishly small especially the time display top center. Extremely difficult to read. Even on lock screen which is much bigger, the font is so thin that it nearly disappears depending on color scheme of background. As opposed to an App to display something different, it might be nice if Apple allowed the option. Any suggestions? Thx.

There are a couple of choices. While you cannot do anything about the status bar text, as far as the clock is concerned, you can go into Settings>General>Accessibility and select Bold Text. That will take the thin out of the clock.

When I forgot my password for home screen and it disabled my iPod, i had to reset my iPod. My iCloud had saved all of my data such as photos in storage or something. But I do not know how to access these photos. Any ideas?

How do i access my photos that were saved in icloud storage from before i had to reset everything. I know the photos can still somehow be accessed because icloud showed that space was being taken up for photos straight after i had reset the device and there were no photos there on the device at the time. Iphone 4s in settings can't access Notes or Mail. Also can't access mail from home screen. Can't send email. All else is good.

I need help. I have reset my iphone. I have turned it off then on. Still can't launch my built in mail app from home screen. When I try it goes to blank page then right back to home screen view.
In settings for the iphone 4s I can not access Notes or Mail, Contacts,Calendars. When I tap either of the two they highlight in blue and then go right back to Home Screen view. I seem to be able to access everything else in settings with no trouble.
From home screen I have no trouble I can launch the built in utility Notes with no problem. I also can launch Calendars from Home Screen view. My Contacts are still reachable by tapping Phone from H/S view then clicking on contacts.
I can not launch mail. nor can I send email. Also the built in mail app is not showing it is recieving mail either. All else seems fine.
I can log in to my email from Safari on iphone and from my laptop with no problem.
Anyone have any suggestions? My iphone is out of warranty. Apples only suggestions are To pay for support.

N8 Facebook Home screen or widget problem

I can't add any widget or home screen app for facebook in my Nokia N8. I tried to Install 'Social update 1.2' But it didn't install. Phone says 'Unable to install." I tried to install from Ovi PC suite. But again got a message 'There was a problem installing the file. Error code: 2148535541"
Can anybody help me to solve this problem? Is there any other way to use any widget for my N8?

You can use the social application widget built into the phone , or try the Socially app which gives homescreen notification and social contacts intergration with contacts.

How to set up panoramic picture for locked or home screen on iPhone 5 ios 7.1.1?

I tried setting up a panoramic picture on locked and home screen so I can get that cool effect but it doesn't work, I only get a panoramic still. I am currently running ios 7.1.1 on iPhone 5. Any troubleshooting ideas would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!!!!
