really simple way to fix the somewhat annoying bug in the N8 where it dosent display the missed calls or new messages on the Screensaver
just switch the screensaver mode to MUSIC PLAYER (dont worry it still displays the time but in a smaller font :/)
(Seeting> Themes> general> Screen Saver> Music PLayer)

Beep, in case of new message or missed call???

Is it possible to set a beep sound/any notification sound/ a tone for unread meaasges or missed calls.
I'm using BB 9300.

1. Do I need a special external HDD to use with Time Machine or will all drives work?
Some are better than others I have both G-tech and LaCie external drives. Both are plug and play and both work well on a Mac. You could look at the Apple Store (on-line) reviews. Those are written by users (take that into consideration).
Imagine, I have a backup existing on my external drive and Apple comes up with a new OS/X version and I want to install that new version. What should I do? Is it possible to upgrade to the new OS/X and use the backup on the TimeMachine to restore ONLY the apps and iTunes/iPhoto library or does it also restore the "old" OS?
When a new OS X is released, Apple software will give you an easy method of installing. It is NOT necessary to erase or restore anything. It is ALWAYS a good idea to have a backup (TM is fine) before any software changes.

Verizon iphone4s voice message without missed call

Hey guys, I have verizon 64GB black iphone 4s. Sometimes(not all the time) my phone showed +1 mark on voicemail without any sign on missed call. Is that normal? And also, occasionally my friends said when they called me, those calls directly pass to voicemail message. Do I have to change my phone?

If you don't want the missed calls to show in the Messages section go to Phone > Options > Call Logging and set the option "Show These Call Log Types in Message List" to None.

All Messages Icon Missing from All Menu 9220

I have five email accounts configured on my 9220. I used to have a common folder wherein all email account message will appear apart from the individual email account separate folders. The common folder disappeared and I selected show all folders and still no use. How do I get that back?

You will have to resend service books to your device.
Enter setup --> Email Accounts
If the email accounts are not listed, configure the accounts again.
If the accounts are listed
Press BB key for options ---> service books -->send service books.
Your icons should reappear on the homescreen or original position. Your older emails may not be visible within the icons. You can refer to them by using the option view folder within the emails.

Can't create a new message. New message icon missing!

Starting today, I cannot send new txt messages. When I go into messages, the top bar that normally has the EDIT and new msg icon is replaced with the search bar. All I can do is look at msgs that are on my phone and respond to existing ones.
I'll try restarting my iPhone 4, but wondered if anyone has seen this before? (and yes, latest firmware version, etc. on my iPhone 4).

This is the 2nd time this has been Solved in less than a week.

As it Stands it is not solved and I have to use a Differant phone to recieve Calls
This is a Insult
Almost as bad as the one from Samsung they send the phone back and say it passes all tests.
So I do my test
1. Activate it
2. Call it to see if it rings it Does
3. don't Install any app's
4. let the phone set do not touch it for 1 - 1 1/2 hours
5. Call it and see if it rings
I have never had it ring when testing it this way

Hey Wardcst24, do you know what it means when one of these threads is marked "resolved"? I've noticed you complaining about it a lot, but haven't seen you ever state that you know what it means. Because my understanding is that it is an internal note to Verizon mods and employees that they don't need to post on a thread because the correct answer has been given at that time, NOT that they're going to stop working on something. So if someone says "look we know it's a problem and we're working on solving it but we don't know how long it will take" that's considered an answer and a flag that they don't need to say anything else if the anwer is going to be the same again. Therefore it doesn't make sense for a rep to keep posting the same thing on each thread and risk being accused of copy/paste as I've also seen you do on these boards. I mean how many times do you need to hear the answer we don't know yet, right?
My advice is to try to remember that Verizon is the retailer of phones not the maker. If you're going to take out your frustrations on some rep do it over something that Verizon controls which is their network. Try to remember that no one intentionally makes a product with errors because that's bad business. Try to remember that sometimes things take a long time to fix.

Why aren't my contacts showing up in text messages or the call list?

I sync my iphone only with my exchange contacts. It was workng fine until yesterday. My contacts list show up in the contacts app with the correct names, but the text messages and missed calls/voicemail list only shows numbers... not showing contact name. What can I do?

I am having the same issue and it all started after the update I downloaded last night. I have tried calling *288 VRZ support option and afterwars performed a soft boot with no fix. The +1 for USA option is not one I can even imagine doing with over 2000 contacts... There has got to be an easier solution...???

RexRox, I guess it depends on your perspective.
I appreciated that the feature was on by default after the update since it meant that I didn’t have to do anything to start using it. I was also aware of it because, before I updated my device, I took the time to read the information that Apple put on their web site that explained what new features were being introduced with the new OS and I learned how they would affect me. Also, I don’t think Apple is aware of how everyone configures their devices. In your case your devices, as well as your wife’s, share the same Apple IDs for iCloud services. Most people would keep those separate I think.
I understand your motive was to share Calendars and Contacts but you can share editable calendars amongst separate iCloud accounts.

Also, the new Family Sharing feature actually creates a shared Family calendar by default when it is set up.

Contacts, on the other hand, aren’t sharable, would be nice if they were, but it is very easy to send contact cards to another person using share sheets.

7945 phone not displaying 'missed calls' notifications

Hello,
I have a user who is no longer getting the 'missed calls' notifications on her phone. This has previously worked but now isn't.
They have tried logging into another phone however the issue is still occurring for them suggesting it's an issue with their user profile rather than the phone.
Can anybody provide any assistance?

Cisco TAC has said it is directly related to an ITL file sych issue with the phone. The best way to fix it 100% of this time on any phone Is factory default reset. Never mind what firmware is on the phone as it is not common to one device or firmware load. Do this:
1 – unplug lan cables from back of phone
2- press and hold # key down and don’t let go
3- plug wires back in while still holding # key down
4- with # key still held in, wait for sequence of lights to blink next to line selection buttons. Should take maybe 1 min for this to happen
5- when lights blink in sequence, release # key
6- enter 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 * 0 #
7- wait a full 5 minutes or more for phone to fully download it’s software. It will say different things on the screen but eventually will fully load and reboot.

After upgrading to 5.0.2, notifications are not shown on lock screen - even missed calls

I need to enter the pin everytime just to check for messages, mails, missed calls etc. Any fix for this?

I have exactly the same problem - but only after connecting my phone via exchange active sync to our companies server.
all lollipop useres except for the sony users don't have this problem.
settings (of all, only non sensitive, no notifications shown) don't make any difference.
My boss contacted someone at support and got some feedback that needed him to reset phone to initial, and "repair" it via companion. Did work for him (Z3), doesn't work for anyone else...

Is it normal, after I get new SMS and missed call I can't see that on my screen.
I use default Screen saver (Big clock and I have to push "middle" button to see notification about SMS/call.
I even don't see clock if i lock phone...
Is this normal behaviour of E6? Very confusing...

Hello, you could try resetting you mobile by taking the battery out and putting it back in, You should get a flashing light when you have a message or missed call. Normally around the center key.
If you have ongoing problems then take your mobile to the nearest care center to be assesed.

Notifications - Missed Calls

Today I received a call which I was not able to pick up so I saw the phone symbol on the home screen with 1 underneath it. Then I went in the hub menu and saw 1 under Hub and 1 also under calls. I tapped on calls and got a list of all calls made, received and missed. The call which I was not able to answer was in bold so I tapped on it thinking that by doing so the bold would disappear and also all the notifications in the home screen and under the Hub menu but instead the phone made the call directly and the notifications did not disappear. I finally managed to get rid of the notifications by tapping and hold the missed call (still in bold by the way) and then click on the bin symbol. Is this normal or am I missing something?

I am having the exact same problem - can not mark a missed call as read. It doesn't happen every single time but it happened to me twice so far. The bigger issue for me is that the 2nd time this happened, my call history dissapeared. Every call I had made before today had completed dissapeared from call list, hub, and phone "application".
Please solve this issue, phone call history is crucial! And sticky notifications are very annoying indeed!

Missed calls - a missed call is shown on the screen when the phone is locked. I slide the icon an the phone calls the back to the missed number. The phone still show a missed no. It should clear the icon since I obviously noted the missed call. Any fixes?

Ok, a wish for the next iOS release, just a small anoying thing.
Scenario:
I have a missed call, the screen is locked. The name of the caller shows up on the screen, I slide the phone icon and phone back.
When I've ended the call there is still a notification of a missed call, i.e. the same missed call that I just called back. To clear the missed call red circle icon on the phone icon (in the unlocked state and the notification on the locked screen) I must open the missed call list. Then it clears.
My wish is that the phone understands that it should clear that missed call after I returned the call since I have obviously noted it.
-> Is this something apple will update or is there a setting that I could change?

You have to return the call via the recent list or tap the red missed call entry in recent list otherwise even a hundred calls won't turn the balloon off.

Mail Icon Display like Missed Call or SMS Message?

Is it possible to have a mail icon or message display when new mail is received via a POP3 mail account (non-push)? Basically, the exact same thing that (if you have it turned on) pops up for a missed call or an SMS message. I'm looking for the same thing, just for new email messages.
